newbie fasting question please help

    I am a newbie in fasting. As of writing this message, I have been fasting for around 27 hours (water fast). However, I am not feeling hungry at all, I am feeling great, very energetic too. My question to you all is, “Is my body now using fat (ketone) for fuel ?” What do you think ?

    You are always using a combination of glucose, glycogen and fat. ALWAYS. If you are overweight and this is your first fast then it is unlikely that the dominant fuel source would be ketones. Possible but unlikely. More likely is that you are now using up your glycogen as your dominant fuel source. This should last for 48+ hours. Take it as a win that you have found fasting easy. If you really need to know then buy a keto meter, they are cheap. I use a optium neo but there are other brands.

    Good luck with it. Make sure you choose an eating/fasting pattern that is do-able for the long term.
