There has been some talk/articles lately about the effect of intermittent fasting on women who are still menstruating. Has there been research on the specific effect of intermittent fasting on younger women (young adult thought to menopause)? There is a view out there that some of the benefits associated with fasting are not present for women who have not gone through menopause and can even have a detrimental effect on a woman’s metabolism, insulin resistance etc. A lot of the studies of the benefits of IF seem to be on men. This is concerning to me as the listed benefits are the reason I fast and if the fact that I am a young woman actually changes the possible benefits I would like to know.
