  • Hi All, this is my first post. I am fairly new to 5:2 today is first day of week three. I found the fast days of week one a little challenging and went over my 500 both days by about 50 cals, but knowing I was taking control of my out of control weight ( I have 60 lb to lose)made me aware of what I was putting in my mouth the other 5 days. I was amazed to find that on my Monday weigh in I had lost 4.25 lbs. Found weeks 2’s fast days so much easier and only used 300 cals on second day!Today’s weigh in another 1.5 lbs gone :)Am starting to think about all those extras around the house at christmas not to mention the extra socialising!
I am determined that I WILL NOT BE SABOTAGED BY SANTA!! If you have any tips or ideas to help in this quest or like me are determined to be in control over christmas, please post away.

    Hi Supermam and welcome:

I’ve found the best thing to do is skip as many meals as possible. If you have been eating only one meal on your diet days, as many do, it is quite easy. Most of the time you can skip breakfast. If you know you are going out for a party or hosting one in the evening, skip lunch, too. Limit your grazing as much as possible, both at gatherings and when cooking.

And then understand that if you gain after the holidays, you can lose it again because you know how. See #7 in the following thread.

Here are some general tips that might help in your 5:2 journey: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Yay another happy weigh in day!
Week three weigh in lost another 2.5 lbs.

I am so determined this time and it seems so easy to do. Haven’t noticed any difference in how my clothes feel but psychologically feel so much happier to be in control of what I am eating.

    Week 1 – 4.25 lb
    Week 2 – 1.5 lb total 5.75lb
    Week 3 – 2.5 lb total 8.25 lb

I have just spent the last half an hour weighing out bags of flour to correspond with my weekly loses and put them all in a large shopping bag. Wow can’t believe how it feels all together.

Well was a bit disappointed at this weeks weigh in as only lost 1/4 lb but better than gaining it! The Santa sabotage has started but I have not succumbed to temptation as yet! The mince pies are out in force at work but not a crumb has passed my lips! I put my Christmas chocolates out on Monday when I put up my tree and although I am well within my cal allowance on feed days still not had one.

Well have have eaten three chocolates but that’s in a week I would normally do more than that in a night. Another good weigh in this week

Good for you on the chocolates. And if you do get sabotaged a little bit by Santa, you can easily climb back on the wagon again in 1 January.

Heard about a research paper the other day that says all diets work, provided you stick to them, and the trick is to find one that works for you. I couldn’t stand both of the big slimming clubs because that appeared to mean committing to being on a diet every day, every week, for the rest of my life. But I can do two days per week, every week, maybe dropping to one day per week if that works, for the rest of my life.

Good luck for the rest of December.
