  • After losing a pound a week on average since Christmas, (11 weeks/lbs) I gave up on a fasting day last week and another yesterday. I’m losing track when I still have my holiday to aim for! We’re going next week and although I was pleased with the 1lb a week result, I was hoping to lose around 7lbs more at least. I’m feeling like I’ve failed my target I suppose. I’ve already gained 2lb today with not sticking to the fasting once last week. If I persevere with the fast today, it means I will have only lost one fasting day.
I was finding this diet much easier to do, although I still suffer with lightheadedness on the day and headaches the day after. My concern is how can I motivate myself when my holiday is over and I have nothing to aim for…..

Don’t give up, you have done really well with what you have already lost. If someone had told you back in Jan that you would be 11lbs lighter, would you have believed them?

Have you bought any new, smaller outfits for your holiday, this will show how well you have done?

Have you lost motivation because you find the fasting days hard, or boring? (I know some people get sick of eating the same thing) Maybe time for more variety/creativity on the fast days?

When you come back think about the health benefits as well as the weight loss. This has been a big motivator for me.

Keep going and enjoy your hols! X

Stick at it today and remember for many of us it’s a fast day so you’re not alone.
Congrats on your loss so far, that’s great. Motivation for when you return? How about that 7lbs you wanted to loose? Okay so you may not have made it for this holiday but by the next one you could be at your target weight and secure in the knowledge you know how to keep it off.
Need more motivation? We are all waiting to hear how you get on and willing success for you.
Go and have a great holiday and when you return report in, even if it’s a gain of a few pounds and get back in the swing. Remember, “you”re worth it!”

Hi Sam, I agree with everyone above. This weight loss is for you and how you feel about yourself – your motivation was because you wanted to look better when you go on holiday and you’ve achieved that so your motivation when you come back is to lose anything you’ve gained on holiday and the extra 7lb you wanted to lose. The health benefits are brilliant too so don’t forget those!

Have a lovely time and let us know how you are doing when you come back

Thanks so much for the replies. They’ve really helped. I’m thinking of the positives now; I do feel better already, I feel so great when I’ve lost some more weight and I’m moving into smaller sized clothes. I know I could do better eg take more exercise so I’ll try to do that when I get back.
    Good luck everyone!
