  • Hello Everyone,

My husband needs to lose 60 lbs and wants to follow the Fast Diet. He leaves home at 11:pm and gets off work at 8:30 am. He works hard during the night as a postal worker lifting boxes all night. I can’t imagine him not eating anything during this time. I am wondering how someone can fast when they work 3rd shift? Should he start the fast before he starts work at midnight? When does the fast time begin and end on a 3rd shift worker? If he goes in at midnight and works until 8:30, is the diet over after he gets off work? Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Deb

I would try to plan for the majority of his (or anyone’s) fasting period for when he sleeps.

So, assuming he gets home around 9am, eats a small, healthy, protein rich “dinner” at 10 am, then go to sleep around 12, sleep (hopefully) 8 hours.

When he gets up at 8pm, he can have coffee/tea and maybe soup (mostly broth), maybe an Apple or something. Then take a salad with chicken or tuna, an Apple, some crackers, or a sandwich. You will have to decide on what his 600 calories will consist of. So he will have his lunch, plus a snack or two.

You will have to tweak it. Third shift is hard, especially on the circadian rythym, which regulates body weight to an extent.

Plus working for the po! My sister did 18 years and just got into the Coast Guard. So I know the horror stories! God bless his soul!
