  • Morning Cinque.

Hi Intesha. Congratulations. I’ll be away for 7 weeks, like you. We’re going to Portugal and Spain. I’m at a new PB this morning 59.6kgs. I think it will be a short-lived victory as my former neighbour has invited me to morning tea today. I’ve been at the same weight for several months so I have no idea what’s changed. Intesha, maybe you and I should keep a food diary like Bay?

    Hi, everyone.

Wow, all these holidays being planned – it sounds so exciting!

Thanks for the support everyone. I guess I hoped doing the 4:3 I would lose closer to 1kg a week, rather than the 400g. Someone asked what I feel like I am going without. I miss the junk at times – chips, chocolate, ice cream, etc. Especially when someone brings them out, or points them out in the shops. But if I eat them, I feel really guilty, and know it will have an effect on my weight and how I feel. I suppose I miss the ignorance – when I could eat what I wanted because I just didn’t care.

Anyway, I will keep moving forwards, and hopefully the weight will steadily come off. After all, only 2.4kg to lose and I am officially classed as overweight!

Thanks for explaining how you work your fasting, Bay. It helps to hear how other people work their fasting.

Coast, with your egg crepe, so you just use the oat bran as the flour (sort of)? I am having trouble thinking how one egg and some oat bran will make 2 crepes – but it sounds so yummy, I want to try it!

    Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is ok during this week. I’m just about to finish my first day on the 5:2 program and what a day I picked, it reached the high 30’s down here. I have found it not too bad, I’ve kept my fluids up and stayed away from work over the lunch break so I didn’t think about food. I’ve had minimal calories today and feeling pretty good. Have the got the usual headache but it’s not stressing me out, just means an early night.

My mum, who’s lurking in here, @gl502, got me onto this program when I caught up with her last week. She finally let the cat out of the bag with what she’s been doing and got me onto this page (and it’s the healthiest and skinniest I’ve seen her in like ever). So I’ve spent the last week getting through the audio book (took me a little with two little boys and work) and thought no time like the moment to get started.

I hit my heaviest of 112.10kgs back in Jan 14, I have been slowly chipping away at it since then, trying different things to get it off. For the second half of this year I’ve been sticking to a LCHF diet with a 16:8 (or 18:6) intermittment fasting which I found a breeze and saw me enter double digits. I’m now floating around the bottom half of the 90’s itching to break into the 80’s before our family catch up at the start of December (which has been my goal for the last few months and none of them besides mum know i’m trying to lose this stubborn food baby). I hit low 93’s on Thursday but a caravanning trip away on the weekend saw me back up in the 95s today.

Good for you HMHF on your achievements thus far and welcome. Now if we can get Naptime’s son on here, we can truly celebrate!

A message to all from Charlie’s Mum. She’s been busy as always but maintaining her weight in the 61kg range. She’s leaving for yet another trip today and says to say hello. Oh, and Charlie won a bunch of awards at his latest show with some cool prizes to take home.

Happy fast day to all the Monday fasters.

Welcome HMHF! How exciting to have you here!
I fasted today too. Just had my bowl of soup, and very nice it was!
I bet you find this a doodle as it sounds like you have been heading towards it anyway. Am I right? Hopefully you will find yourself waving the 90’s behind before too long.

Talk about the hot weather! I have uncovered my seedlings now, they all survived. Luckily my flat is brick, so one hot day isn’t enough to heat it up.

It has been a good Fast Day, lots of dreaming about what I will eat tomorrow! But the kind of hunger where it is easy to say: it’s just for today.

My friend commented on how much weight I have lost, she sees me every couple of weeks, and this is her first comment. It makes me realise that just as I notice changes in jumps, so do other people. Some people notice the tiniest changes, others notice a bigger change.

    ?????

Wow we will be quiet while everyone is away! I hope you can send little messages now and then!

Good luck to you Nap, it will be lovely to get low enough weight to be officially overweight! I didn’t miss those things too badly when I gave up sugar. Well, maybe I am lying… Most of the time I find it easy. I concentrate on eating really delicious things that are not sweet. But just today I was dreaming about making ice cream!
It is a trick to find things that really give you pleasure, but that either don’t have the empty carbs, or that we can eat without derailing ourselves. An ongoing challenge! But I think it has got easier.

Cheers to Charlie’s Mum, best wishes for a good trip, and congrats to Charlie!

Hi All, I’m from Sydney and this is my first fast day. I am in my early 40’s and have noticed the weight creeping on over the last few years.

I saw Dr Mosley’s documentary and thought I might just give it a go. I really love my food so the thought of only restricting on two days a week appeals to me. I hope I don’t over eat on non-fast days to over-compensate.

Have enjoyed reading through all your posts.

    Jen

Welcome Jenmac. A few starter tips: Measure absolutely everything – advice I didn’t heed and wish I had. Before you do anything, buy the book – it’ll be the best $11 you’ll ever spend. Calculate your TDEE on this website. Visit this thread regularly for support, help, advice and the occasional kick up the bottom. Ask us anything!

Hi Jenmac, Welcome here! Cheers for your first Fast Day! I hope it is going well!

Hi everyone! In typical Melbourne fashion, today has been cold, grey, and drizzling. The garden is very pleased! Miso the cat has been curled up in the bedroom. She has her summer coat now, and feels the cold.

AND I finally had a day when I got lots done. Fingers crossed I can do the same tomorrow!

I’ve been enjoying my non Fast day, and thinking I will Fast again on Friday this week.

Welcome HMHF and Jenmac. I have only been here for just under 2 months, but these gals are awesome for support and guidance. 🙂

Jen, when are you thinking of starting the actual fasting? Whatever days you pick, I am sure there will be someone on here who will be fasting the same days as you.

Welcome Jenmac and HMHF. If you are serious about your health, this is the way of life for you. I started this journey on 1st February this year. I’ve certainly had many bad weeks but by staying plugged into this forum and listening to the old and new I’ve kept going.

I started at 87.1 and this morning 72.1. It hasn’t been easy but nothing worthwhile is. I had a few kicks up the … from some on this forum, didn’t like it but hey just look at me now.

I am meeting a friend tomorrow (male) that I haven’t seen for over 7 years, can’t wait to see the reaction!!!!!

    Hello all the Southern Hemispherites!
    Hello Northerners too!

It is another grey Melbourne morning, but it should warm up nicely.
I’m in the middle of my non fast days, but sending out cheers to those fasting today.
    How is it going?

    Intesha, have fun today!

Intesha, you’ll be in the 60s by Christmas. Thanks Cinque. I’ve enjoyed two consecutive smug days under 60kgs but it couldn’t last with two morning teas in a row. Today, I’m exactly 60kgs. It’s a fast day though so I could dip back down tomorrow. Must go for my walk early now as it’s heating up in the west – 37C forecast for Saturday. Looking forward to cooler climes in Europe. Have a good day all.

Another FD comes to a close – not much happening on here today so I’ll make my own entertainment:

Disastrous FD meal preparation as my microwave egg poacher experienced a serious malfunction and the egg exploded in the micro. I’m sure you all know what a lovely mess that makes. So I decided to poach one in boiling water as my asparagus and smoked salmon were already waiting expectantly on the plate and I knew I’d have to clean the micro immediately. That one didn’t look too appealing so I decided to feed it to the lizards as effort number three was scrambled in a mini frypan. Family cracking up at the entertainment while tucking in to their own dinners and asking me how hard can it be to cook that egg?

Today we saw our tax accountant (a yearly visit so you can guess what’s coming). She’s Indian and we got talking about the Festival of Lights & I mentioned I couldn’t eat anything despite all the lovely aromas of Indian food as I was fasting on Sunday. She started telling me how she fasts on Mondays as part of her Hindu religion and asked me why I was fasting. I told her and then she said, “I am remembering you as big woman but I didn’t want to say anything when you walked in. I thought it was someone else”. She then called her offsider in to have a look at me and explain how I’d lost 25 kgs through fasting. That led to how she wants to lose some weight but her 24 hour fasts (from dinner to dinner) don’t have any effect on her weight. I’ve given her the website address and I think I’ll soon have another convert.

And a little high note to end the day on – after walking this morning, I was back to 59.6kgs so that’s three whole days in a row under 60kgs. Hurray for 5:2.

    Hi Thin
You’ve made my day. Cracking up. … Eggs. …..???????
Well done with maintaining PB. ????
    Cheers, Bay 🙂

    Good morning, everyone.
Well, I am glad I came on here first thing – Thin, your story of exploding eggs made me smile. Microwaves are awesome – but when something goes wrong, it can make a spectacular mess!
Congrats on being under 60 for three days – how awesome!

Another FD done and dusted. I haven’t been able exercise yesterday or today, as I am having a ‘down’ time with my physical health at the moment – and I have learnt it is better to listen to my body and take a couple of days off than push it.

How is everyone else going? Seems a bit quiet on here…

Yes it has been very quiet Nap but you can trust Thin to come up with something entertaining. I read the post very early this morning as I couldn’t sleep and it made me laugh.

Should be an FD for me today but having a visit from an old flame today. Might not eat much anyway as I’m a bag of nerves.

Weight this morning 71.8. Oh Thin that 60’s number is getting very tantalising and frightening.

    Have a good day everyone.

Well who would have thought, it is another grey Melbourne morning! But it is going to do its thing of turning into a fine day, so I am happy.

I’m glad you finally got your egg Thin! Fast Day food can be very tricky! 😉

I’ve got a meeting with the Business Development Officer from the local Council, about my community food project.I would really like to appear competent, brilliant and well prepared.
Oh dear, send me some good wishes please!

Nice work Intesha, Thin. Have a couple of gentle days Nap. My chronic illness means I can’t be very active, but I’m still making it through, so I am sure you will too. We just have to keep making the best decisions we can for our health. Tricky process!

I hope your old flame is still flaming Intesha and you have a great day!

Woohoo Intesha, a new weight to boost your confidence with the old flame. Won’t he be surprised after 7 years! All the best with that. My encounter with the tax accountant yesterday actually brought you to mind with the old flame. No wonder you’re doing 4:3 with this super new social life you’re enjoying. Your life has changed so much this year – well done. And I’m sorry about those kicks up the rear I gave you before but, honestly, I was quite concerned about your mental health back then and worried that you might give up and we’d never hear from you again.

Glad I gave you all a good laugh with my eggy disasters. Our lizards Psycho and Rocky are thoroughly enjoying the mess this morning. They’re having a snail omelette, 85 calories.

Good luck with the meeting Cinque. you’ll be fine. You and Naptime take it easy this weekend.

Thanks Bay, I’m just back from walking and scored yet another PB at 59.3kgs. What the heck……still, that’ll be overturned with the first custard tart in Portugal. (Just kidding, I’m not having any.) How are you getting on? Have you started your sugar challenge yet?

    Hi SH,

that made me smile (laugh) so much – thanks Thin 🙂 isn’t that terrible? but so glad it was a mishap for someone else 🙂 and ‘snail omelette’ for the lizards – they are spoilt…… happy for you about your days under 60, brilliant!! What good feedback from the accountant – nothing like not being recognised as an encouragement to stick with this WOL.

Firstly, hello and welcome to the newbies, Jenmac and HMHF – stick with the forum and be open to be inspired by all the 5:2ers and you will feel well and so changed in time.
Good advice about measuring and calculating your TDEE etc as you need a baseline to see how well you are progressing for those days when you will be frustrated that it seems nothing is happening.
We also have a dedicated recipe page for FDs that you might find useful. We are slowly adding the recipes. You can access it quickly through a link from my profile page (name CoastCat).

Hope the meeting went well Cinque. This is something you are probably passionate about so that will shine through, I’m sure.

Intesha, congrats on the PB – is it a PB? sounds like it might be. Hope your meeting went well too (wink, wink)

Nap, listening to your body is such a good option. Hope you have been enjoying the ‘down’ time. Re: the egg crepes. It does work – 1 whole egg, 1.5 tablespoons oat bran, and some milk. (I didn’t measure as I had done so many times I just tipped in enough – adjust quantity as you get more practiced). You can add some spices too if you want. Need a flat long spatula to flip it. Cook longer on first side and just a little on turning. I might add to our recipe page and write it out properly. This was a recipe I developed for myself when doing the Dr Dukan programme.

Had 2 FDs this week. Monday was good till 8pm then I got wild cravings which I did indulge a bit. Wednesday was really good – just tea, coffee and soup for dinner.

I have now let go of 11KG!!!! SINCE 1st August. Very happy.
My next goal is 13kg when I will give myself another gift :))

    signing off,

    Coast

Good grief Coastcat, that’s about 1 kg a week that you’re shedding. You’re on a roll. At this rate you’ll have reached the next goal before Christmas.

We spent much of today at the Wesfarmers shareholders’ meeting in Perth. Two hours of grazing before the meeting (although I was quite restrained at that stage) and then alcohol and gourmet nibbles afterwards (less restrained). Great wine, a fantastic jazz band, innovative finger food – why haven’t we been attending this event all these years? We’ll be paying more attention to any shareholder invitations from now on. I’m sure I’ll be paying for this on the scales tomorrow but it was fun. The best part is that OH said he didn’t need any dinner so I’m off the hook tonight.

Thin, sounds like you enjoyed yourself and life’s too short to get hung up on watching every mouthful. I was concerned about my mental health and to have an unknown person trying to give me advice was confronting but thankfully I do take onboard constructive criticism and look where I am now. This forum certainly gave me the courage to keep going and I will be forever grateful. The motto here everyone is never never give up even if you think it is not working, it is.

Had a wonderful day yesterday the flame was bowled over by my transformation, although he had never seen me at my worst or lowest ebb but I knew I had never looked better. It felt wonderful to be admired. Enjoyed a lovely lunch a bottle of wine and lots of laughing and catching up.

    Weight this morning 72.5.

Coastcat you are amazing, I wish my weight loss had been so incredible but we all have our own paths to follow. Well done.

Good morning, I am still enjoying these grey morning and sunny afternoons.
I did have a good meeting yesterday ( although I was kind of hoping he would have some amazing help to offer us. Never mind.) lots of interest and support.

Intesha so glad you got through the hard times and had a great day of wine and laughter.

So glad you had fun at the meeting Thin and really enjoyed the music, wine and innovative finger food , sounds wonderful! And then, an easy evening!

Fast day for me today, Coast style: with tea, coffee and soup for dinner.

Cheers for your loss Coast. Just wonderful.

Good morning, all. Another day of rain here in Canberra, but I managed to get my veggie seedlings in the ground yesterday during a break in the rain – so I don’t mind if it keeps the rain up today.

Thanks for the egg crepe recipe, Coast -I will give that a go tomorrow. Losing 1kg a week is amazing! Good job!

Well, FD again today – although I don’t know if I should be. I am still having problems with dizzy spells/low blood pressure, and I don’t know if it is due to the 3 days of fasting. I have increased my fluid intake, so I don’t think it can be dehydration that can be causing it anymore. I tried to drop to 5:2 to see if that remedied anything, but I felt so guilty, I ended up doing 4:3 anyway.

What soup are you having for fast day, Cinque?

    Hi Nap

Have you tried a pinch of salt with all the water you’re having ? This may help with the low BP and the dizzy spells. Well done with sticking with this WOL.

Congrats Coast, Thin and Cinque, what fabulous results. ????

Thin, this week I had two days of serious overindulgence in chocolate, and berries and cream, etc, followed by a lovely fast yesterday. Am gearing myself up for the sugar free challenge, by going without sweet foods on alternate days, 3 days a week. Thanks for all your support. ??

    Cheers, Bay

He drives to the mall, runs to the toy store, and says to the shop assistant, “How much is that Barbie in the window?” In a condescending manner, she says, “Which Barbie?” She continues, “We have Barbie Goes to the Gym for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Ball for $19.95, Barbie Goes Shopping for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Beach for $19.95, Barbie Goes Nightclubbing for $19.95, and Divorced Barbie for $265.00.” Ralph asks, “Why is the Divorced Barbie $265.00 when all the others are only $19.95?” “That’s obvious,” the saleslady says. “Divorced Barbie comes with Ken’s house, Ken’s car, Ken’s boat, Ken’s furniture…”

Have a happy weekend all you beautiful losers 😉

Good Morning everyone and Hi to the newbies! Welcome!

Finally back and checking in. Hope everyone’s well and having a good day and the waving to those away on trips and maybe lurking wwwww.

Backing up a bit, I was having a challenge getting off grains after travelling overseas, so did a past successful strategy which is to eat totally gluten free for 1 week but not do my 2 FDs. Because of the craving that comes with my intolerance to grains (weird but many people with ADHD have this type of intolerance reaction) I have to get through the reaction period which is 5 days. Gave it an extra 2 to be sure. During the totally gluten free(GF) week, to cope with the cravings I eat whatever quantity satisfies me at the time, and eat GF bread, biscuits, whatever. It’s like taking a step backwards to start going forwards again. So my weight went up a bit for the week but I was reasonably restrained so not too much. Lesson learned: do a gluten free week like that as soon as I get back, not wait a couple of weeks fighting the craving.

Started at 68.6 on Monday FD, Tuesday – 68.3
Started at 68.4 Thursday FD, today -68.0

Monday’s FD went well and yesterday’s I had a bit of an upset and was somewhat shaken. I was in town and had some rice pudding (GF) and small flat white when I hadn’t been going to. Just felt I needed something as that low blood sugar feeling came back, and I wanted to make sure I could get home OK.. Should have just had my usual week tea though. FD dinner – very lean minced beef with onion, carrot, cauliflower, and crushed tomatoes in it, with broccoli on the side. Sort of spaghetti bol without the spaghetti and done as low cal as possible. Some fresh, orange, small amount plain yoghurt and a few nuts. So I was over 500 cals, but not too badly.

So…. The cravings have gone, and I’m on the way down again, with 62kg as my goal. Hopefully next week will see 67’s as I’m thoroughly over seeing 68’s for nearly 4 weeks. Next short term goal is 67.5kgs. Last one was 11 weeks ago, with trip and food fiddling inbetween, so it can’t come quick enough at the moment.!

    Must go,
    Onwards and downwards,
    Merry

    Hello in the afternoon,
Marking time so I have my soup as late as possible!
I making my soup from some of Eric the Chefs soup he made for our project. It is a beautiful broth with some leek and lentils in it. Just a bit too brothy for the only thing I am eating today, so I am adding some moong dal and cooked pumpkin.

It is suiting me really well to have Fastier Fast Days, but while the hunger doesn’t make me want to break my fast, it does make me very distracted. Hopefully I will get used to it as I go on. Luckily I was able to just do what I felt like today, so I have caught up with a bit of TV, walked to the Op Shop near by (a nice skirt and two nice tops!) and met a friend at the cafe. She is having such a hard time, so I am glad that was in the morning when I could concentrate better. Please send a good wish her way, if you have one to spare!

Merry lovely to see you have got back to base point with your weight and gluten freeness. It sounds like a great Fast day and hopefully you will be at that short term goal before you know it.

    Rogue…. dreadful joke!

Nap don’t forget the salt! Best wishes for your Fast Day!
Cheers to your seedlings! Mine are going great guns.

Hi all, sounds like everyone’s coasting along. Good strategy Merry. I hope your FD is going well Cinque (and now I’ve seen your post that tells me it is).

Intesha, you can’t leave us hanging like that – are there any plans to see the one that got away again? Pleased you had a great time. You’re right, we have to indulge ourselves sometimes and, incredibly, I’m still under 60kgs this morning.

Hope you enjoyed that chocolate Bay. I’d love to have a chat with you over coffee sometime, I believe we are very similar with respect to many aspects of this WOL. It’s just so good to know we can put everything right again with a good fast day. Has Purple left for the UK? CM’s now in Auckland awaiting her cruise departure tomorrow.

Naptime, don’t feel guilty about not doing three fast days. Lots of people can’t stick to two FD for the long-term and you’re doing so well. Don’t worry when the weight doesn’t shift because you’re still getting so many other benefits. I suddenly dropped below 60 where I’ve been stable for nearly 3 months. I’d decided to call it ‘maintenance’. But you could also say it was a very long plateau. I suspect my sustainable weight will realistically be 60-61kgs. Anything else is a bonus.

For those who weren’t yet with us last Christmas, my advice (although you haven’t asked for it) is to swap your FDs around to accommodate all the invitations, eat everything you love, enjoy yourselves and set a goal to be the same weight when the madness is all over. Remember, having two mince pies is really no better than just one and, five minutes later, you’re only left with regret. Keep in mind that food manufacturers are out to get us. Processed foods are designed to keep us addicted. Enjoy everything but not a lot of it.

Cinque, do you have any tips for keeping the little green caterpillars off my peppers, mint and coriander? They started as tiny little slivers which I tried to pull off but those I missed are growing fatter and they’re so hard to see as they’re exactly the same colour green. I’ve tried crushed egg shells.

Hey Thin, you don’t really expect me to kiss and tell? Seriously he had a business proposition for me but who knows what is down the track.

nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more Intesha. I’ll leave the winking emoticon to Bay. ? Oh, there it is.

Ha Intesha, lots of winking here too. Hope the business proposition is a good one too.

Mmm I feel so good after my soup!

Thin, those nasty green caterpillars! They are likely to be white cabbage moth babies. They are so hard to see! By the time they are big enough to see, they have eaten half your plants!
I tried putting up pretend butterflies, but the thing that has worked the best has been growing horseradish! They love it so much they lay all their eggs there and leave my other plants alone. I’m very happy to sacrifice my horseradish!
I hope you find some good help here: http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/stories/s4081696.htm

Thanks Cinque – what a great idea about the butterflies. I’ll check the link too, cheers!

    Hi Thin
Would be lovely to have a catch up over coffee. One day we will be out West or you will be over East. Looking forward to it. ??

    Cinque,
Rogue Trader or RT as he’s affectionately known in Jojo’s thread seems to have posted here by accident. He’s a successful faster from SA, and appears to have a stack of Dad jokes, that he is entreated to post every Friday to cheer us up. I read the best out to my OH who gets a good laugh.

    Cheers, Bay ?

    .

Thanks Bay for explaining about Rogue. Hi Rogue! Dad joke sums it up well, I did chuckle with the groan!

Getting ready for an early night.

    See you tomorrow everyone!

We all love RT’S jokes on Jo’s thread and can’t wait for Fridays ! I also read them to Mr P. ?
Thin, we’ll be coursing through Perth in mid and late Jan. ?
Enjoy your weekends SHs. As RT says “It’s easier to eat nothing than a little. ” P

Cinque, I checked the link thanks. My caterpillars are juicier looking without the fine hair. I was interested to learn how the egg shells work.

Purple, we return to Perth on 14 Jan. What a hoot if you happened to be flying in then? Will definitely be around late Jan if you can fit in a small detour from Albany. Bay, I believe you also mentioned once before about coming to Perth occasionally too.

I knew I’d seen that name RT before. Thanks for explaining as that certainly came out of left field on this thread!

We’ll be a week later Thin. Picking up a car and driving. On the way home, we’ll be rushing to make the plane. Timing is everything to avoid paying for accommodation in Perth I’m afraid. P

    Good morning,
Sun pouring through my kitchen window.
So lovely waking up after a Fast Day! I have my first cuppa, and Greek semolina pancakes on the rise.
Thin, there must be different types of white cabbage moth caterpillars (I know it is a butterfly, but I find it hard to break old habits!) because mine are like yours, hairless and juicy.
Cheers to everyone, I want to get a lot done today after doing nearly nothing yesterday!

Morning, all! Another rainy day here in Canberra – glad I planted those seedlings the other day! They are loving this rain.

Weigh in this morning – down another 400g. I guess it is ok, although of course I wish it was more, doing three days fasting a week, and I kept all three down below 300cals. But I acknowledge I had a couple of ‘naughty treats’ this week, so that would have made a bit of difference.

Thanks for the advice on adding salt to my water, Bay and Cinque. I will give that a go.
I didn’t have much dizziness yesterday on FD. I drink a lot of water on FD, and probably less on my non FD. I thought I had increased my fluids on all days, but I am going to consciously drink 2 bottles of water both days this weekend (non FD), and see if that makes a difference.

Due to the weather here, it is an indoor day. I am frantically trying to finish knitting this advent tree I started. It has little sacks with the dates on it hanging off the branches and that is what you put the treats in. It seemed like a good idea at the time- but it is really complex and I have unpicked the whole thing a couple of times. Now I am struggling to finish it in time for the 1st December.

What does everyone else have planned for the weekend?

I have had another good week losing 1.3 kgs. Had a lot to do with being outside being quite physical. Shifted about 2 metres of soil and mulch, weeding and spraying. The backyard is now neally ready with one area behind the rainwater tanks. This I am leaving till later. Now to start on the front yard.

I have someone in to help in the garden as I fell behind the last couple of years with family issues. He is also a handyman who has found some of my broken tools and has fixed them. I have a huge wishlist of things I would like done. He is also picking up on some things that need doing sooner rather than later. We are working harder at the moment so that we don’t have to do it in the extreme weather.

I have been getting plenty of vegetables and strawberries from the garden. Others have got them as well. The apple trees are fruiting so I should get a good crop. The other trees have had their fruit taken off as they have only been planted this and last autumn. I like to give them a couple of years to establish. The plants are establishing again. (Lost backyard to Black Saturday fires and floods 2 years later.)

I’d love that rain Naptime. Indoor day here too – 38C. Good to hear about your losses, you too GL. How’d your daughter fare after her first week?

    Good evening,
I’ve had a strange Non Fast Day, got super hungry this morning. Illogically so.
At the beginning of 5:2 I loved how the Fasts led to me eating less, and better, on Non Fast Days.
I am pretty sure it is something similar to you Nap. I was actually thirsty. My body tends to get confused between thirst and hunger signals, I know this of old.
So after I spent the first half of the day eating all the Greek semolina pancakes, a bowl of fabulous harissa soup, and then some cornchips, cheese and avocado! I have spent the rest of the day drinking and drinking (water!!!!! 😉 ). Once I gave myself a chance it turned out I was very thirsty. I think I won’t need much dinner, just lots more drinks! And maybe some salt: although all that food was nice and salty.

Plus I am having a good health day so I walked down to the shops, much further than I can usually walk, but I don’t think I overdid it.

No rain here today! But at least it wasn’t 38! It was a good outdoors day.

Nap I’m only losing about a kilo a month with 5:2, so your weight loss is so impressive and amazing. And remember they say it is best not to lose it too quickly. You are going at just the right speed!

Although GL you are having a super loss! Your garden sounds so wonderful! And what an impressive amount of work! So glad you are managing to recover after those two disasters!
I also hope your daughter comes back to tell us how she is going. 🙂

    Bye for now!

PS I forgot to say: That advent tree sounds absolutely gorgeous Nap! Good luck getting it finished!

Happy Sunday Fast Day to the Sunday Fasters, Hi Thin,

Wondering how you are getting on Jenmac and Healthymumma, how’re you going? Good news, bad news doesn’t matter. Wherever you’re at we’ve been there too.

Well, Sunday’s usually our slowest day on here, so thought Id do a little catch up today. Very best news is I’ve bought my 1st size 12 clothing – a couple of blouses and a pair of shorts. Can’t remember the last time I bought size 12! Feels great! Also tried on a pair of slacks and got into them easily and did the zip up easily but they were still too tight to buy and wear, and I aint buyin’ them till I’d be happy to walk out of the shop in them. ATM I’m madly wearing the size 14’s I bought for our trip in Turkey and Europe at home and everywhere else, so I get some decent wear out of them. Wearing them everyday. I love those hiking trousers I got from Kathmandu. No hiking being done, but they are fantastic for travelling and just about everything else. Comfy, wash easy, dry quick, no iron. Great for my lifestyle. They’re also just about indestructible, so they’ll go off to someone else with only a few months wear and in great condition. Oh, also have to now do my bras up on the next hooks across.

Hi Merry, isn’t it a wonderful feeling. I can’t believe I am now size 12, feel like Alice in a Wonderland. So excited for you.

I think when I get back from my trip I will have a complete clean out. I do throw out regularly but just haven’t quite been as ruthless as I should. Brain is still trying to catch up with the image.

FD for me today, I missed my Thursday FD so struggling a bit today. Have only had 95 cals so far and really looking forward to dinner.

    Getting used to being smaller:-)

I still find it a surprise when I catch sight of my self in a shop window, and even at home when I’m getting ready to go out and checking in the mirror. Muuuuuuch better than that other surprise I used to get catching sight of myself in shop windows. You know the one, when you realise, yep that’s actually me, have I really got that big.

My latest surprise is looking at a few pictures from our trip and seeing myself next to others who we were around for few weeks. In retrospect I realise I had thought I was bigger than some of them, and yet now, seeing myself standing next to them, I’m actually smaller than them. It is weird getting used to the new me. Rationally I know it’s actually only 6 kgs more than the old me, but it’s been so many years since I saw the old me my brain has adjusted what seemed the ‘normal ‘ me. Now I’m realising it will take a little while for my brain to get used to seeing my smaller size. Inremember reading a couple of people saying that it took about a year for them. Wonder if this happens to everyone. Not complaining though, just entrigued.

    Hi Intesha!

Ha ha, Alice in Wonderland. You are so right. It’s like Christmas everytime I go out to look at clothes! Just walking around the shops is so different. Even window shopping is like a whole new experience. I think what causes the Alice Effect, I like that term, is that now we know that with 5:2 we can stay our normal weight. We’ll get it all off back to normal weight and we’ll be able to keep it off. 5:2 is such a great tool as well as a great WOL.

Usually I fast Mon and Thurs, but I toyed with the idea of doing a FD today. So far I’ve had a small apple, a boiled egg and a homemade flat white on skim milk. Haven’t counted the cals. How about I count them, and then do a FD with you? I’ll check in again a bit later.

    Cheers,
    Merry, feeling the Alice Effect

Hi fellow Sunday fasters. It’s a nice cool 31C here in the west and I’ve been doing some gardening. So far today, I’ve consumed 25 cals in the form of almond milk in two coffees and it’s nearly time for my 2pm feeding of cauliflower soup. I can’t believe how boring I’ve become but now that summer’s here, I will have to think about changing my lunch menu.

It’s interesting what you both say about body image. My GP was telling me last week that it’s impossible for any of us to get a real grip on what we actually look like. I look at photos of me as a 20 something 5 mile a day runner and see a very slim, fit person. At the time, I always thought I was overweight. I now weigh less than that person in the photos but still don’t think of myself as a slim person even though the numbers tell me otherwise. I never dreamed I’d ever be a size 10.

Hello Sunday chatters, lovely to catch up with all your news, and especially lovely Alice in Wonderland experiences.

I was feeling that way yesterday…. but not today. I think I did over do it yesterday and today I have been crook and dizzy and not able to do much. However my pattern seems to be that I get to a new step and then need a couple of weeks to find my balance on it! So this is just an off balance day.
I think it is an onwards and downwards step, so maybe it is down the White Rabbits hole!

Which are your fast days Cinque?
