  • Also a little reminder that 5:2 was initially designed to act on research that showed intermittant fasting helped improve health, and that weight loss is actually a side benefit.

Nap, if you are on Bblood pressure meds a trip to the GP might be needed.

As a follow up I don’t have a blood pressure machine at home, decided against it as being over reacting, but My exercise physiologist takes eat before and after my weekly rehab session and occasionally I get it taken at a pharmacy, they do it for free.

    Merry

Well that was a weird typo…..he takes it before and after….

That for that, Purple and Merry. Merry, I am not on BP meds – I have never had a problem with blood pressure. But I am always tired, as I have an auto immune disorder, and fatigue is one of the problems as a result. So, hard to know if I am more tired or not.

Dehydration is a good thought. I will try to increase my fluids a bit more.

I have decided to err on the side of caution and go to the GP tomorrow. I needed to see her in the next couple of weeks anyway, so I just moved it forward a bit. I am alone in the house a lot, and worry about something happening when I am on my lonesome.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

    Hi Naptime
Have you tried kefir for your autoimmune issues? It can help.

Thanks Merry for the info. Urinating lowering bp explains a lot. Gosh this Forum is a great brainstrust. ☺ P

Hi Nap, if you are eating less salt as a result of fasting, that Might make a difference too. If you start drinking lots more water, have some more salt, or salty foods too. Or ask your doctor!

I am in Sydney, completely exhausted. Now we are getting Japanese food, as they home deliver. More yum!
I think I got everything done and now I can collapse in a heap for the evening. Luckily Sydney isn’t too cold this evening!

Yep. Much better tonight Cinque. I took a jacket to the city, but the sun came out. We might have passed each other! ?
U hooe yoy enjoy your stay here.
I often feel a need for salt late on a fast day. A cup of Miso or a finger dipped in salt works. P

Salt. Yeah, forgot about that. Nap, don’t know if it’s pertinant, but with your autoimmune condition do you need extra salt? Reason I’m asking is with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which I have, I need to have a bit more salt than normal, so have to be deliberately conscious of getting extra. I have no idea why that is, but it’s widely reported by the ME/CFS community. Our disease is so massively under -researched that we tend to act on widely reported annectdotal evidence. Anyway, another piece in the jigsaw puzzle maybe.

Glad you’ve brought forward your GP appt.

Hi Purple, glad to be of help, re urinating and low BP. Discovered this when a male member of my family passed out in the early hours of the a.m., and hit his head on the the way down. Apparently, not an uncommon thing in senior males, and the ambos know the scenario well. And also why they reckon loo and bathroom doors should open outwards or slide. When I passed out I fell against the loo door, and it was easy for my OH to get the door open, and for the ambos to begin working on me. Passing out and falling against an inward opening door makes it very difficult in an emergency.

    Hi to everyone else!

    Cheers,
    Merry
Cinque -enjoy Sydney, take your time. have fun.

Wow, you guys are amazing. So much knowledge on this forum. Thank you. I have had low BP for years, but don’t normally have any symptoms unless I get dehydrated….then the dizziness starts. Have found the salt “hit” also helps when you’re feeling a bit “off” late in the day when fasting – but it mainly affected me in the early stages of 5:2. Have s lovely evening fasters. CM xx

Good morning all. Back from Melbourne, weigh in this morning 74.2 not too bad, FD today and looking forward to it. Isn’t it amazing how our bodies love routine. Didn’t overly eat but different from my normal food.

Have a good day fellow faster so.

Fellow fasters, hate that auto correct.

Hi everyone, Sydney started off grey, but the blue is coming though. I am jumping straight in to a fast day to get it over and done with. Miso soup for breakfast, left over from last nights food. A lovely start to the day.
Veggie soup thawing for dinner, so I am almost having a liquid fast! Liquid with lumps in!

I found my daughters dodgy scales and I am 59 kg on them so, if you believe them, I have lost 3 kg, in 3 months on 5:2, which is about what it feels like. I’m going for slow and steady, but all the talk about plateauing concerns me. We’ll see.

We are heading off shopping. (No milk in the fridge) ( or much else) (good day for fasting! 😉 )

    Cheers fellow fasters!!

    Good morning SH,

signing in after 2nd FD this week.

    Weigh-in this morning: old scales showed no movement;
new digital scales: showed 400gm down.
I know which one I am believing 🙂

had a very good FD until late in the evening, as I was pouring over stats!! All the bread is frozen; I have run out of carrots because I used them all for the soup but I was scavenging. Settled for an anzac type biscuit which settled me down 🙂

I will most probably throw in 3rd FD on Friday to try to nudge this ‘post-birthday’ plateau.; I have done this for the past two weeks but it hasn’t made much of a dent in the downward trend. My present goal is to reach my PB just prior to birthday buffet 🙂

Cinque, great news from the weigh-in. Hope you continue to enjoy Sydney.

Re: dizziness. I have had that over the past month but put it down to virus effects. I also went onto 2 HBP tablets at once. My BP has been really low for me so the doctor has let me stop one of the tablets since last week and the dizziness has lifted a bit. It is all very individual as each of us has our own set of physical challenges. Good idea to see your GP, Nap.

Intesha, I enjoyed your trip to Melbourne too :)) loved your trips to Vic Markets to enjoy the jam doughnuts.

Good tips, Merry, Cinque, and CM, about walt and hydration – I’ll keep those in mind.

Positive energy to all the fasters and may the FDs continue to provide us joy … LOL!!!

    signing off,

    Coast

    Morning All,
Good one Intesha. Cinque, have a goid Sydney trip. Coast, ha ha, those new scales are looking good. FD for me today, and still trying to get back off the grains after the trip overseas. My cold is much better and I was doing fine weightwise till we got bread for OH. when I’m totally off grains I don’t crave them at all, but when I’ve eaten them it’s hard to resist even though I know I’ll end up with achy joints etc. so,Have eaten some bread yesterday, 2 small slices of sourdough and yep, weight went up.

Waving to the Yodas and the maintainers wwwww

    Onwards and downwards Thursday Fasters,
    Merry

I like those digital scales Coast. Nice idea to keep several pairs of scales, and then each day write down the best result!

I am loving being in my daughters big open plan apartment, and we are having fun planning what to do for the week. Including a day at the beach. But right at the moment I am enjoying resting!
    (Shopping done!)

Intesha is it nice being back at home? Best wishes with your fast. Yes I SO love being in my own home with my usual routine, and I can look after my health so much better then.

Nap, what did the doctor say?

Merry is the bread all eaten now and you can go back to the foods that suit you better? I am so glad your cold is ending, now you can get back to your good routine too.

I am going to start a loaf here, I give it a long rise time for best flavour, and I will add oats to it, and sesame seeds, as my daughter has them in her pantry. Bought bread doesn’t agree with me, but my homemade one is fine. But you had better stay away Merry! It will smell so tempting.
Maybe one day you can try a piece in case you can tolerate it ok too?

Happy Thursday fasting everyone who is fasting! Happy normal day, everyone else!

Hi All, hope you are all having a good day.

Thanks for all the help, everyone. Cinque and Merry, I didn’t know about salt, but the GP did mention it today.
It turns out my bp is quite low. She said my eyes looked a bit sunken, so she suspects dehydration – just as all you wise people said! So, I need to increase my water intake and see how it goes. She suggested a multi vitamin as well, which is probably a sensible idea.

I am going to just do 5:2 for a couple of weeks and see how I go.

Cinque, just the thought of home made bread makes my mouth water! I have only ever made the ones you put the flour and water and yeast and press the ‘cook’ button…

FD today, so far, so good. Having Chicken and Bacon Casserole tonight from the Recipe Thread – thanks, Thin. It smells really nice!

Hi everyone, I bet you thought I had disappeared for good.
Sorry….it has been a rough month.
We started on the 1st of October with renovations for our bathroom, which I believe I did tell you all, but after the demolition which went fine, the works went downhill. I am from a building background, husband and father both are very good at building projects/handyman work and both have done blockwork, carpentry, tiling and painting etc….. but as I watched what this guy was doing I became concerned that he had no idea of what he was doing, although he would constantly tell me what he had done and why. Husband was overseas again and when I voiced my concerns he thought I was being over picky, but upon his return he understood why. Well, I stalled the renovator for a few days and ended up with legal advice to terminate the contract. My husband arranged for one of our customers who is in the commercial building industry to have a look today. The outcome is that there are five major issues with the preparation and waterproofing, not to mention the tiling. So you see I have been focused on all this.

I am sorry I have not read all the posts, but did notice mention about blood pressure. Mine has been up so much that I had a burst blood vessel in my eye two weeks ago which my doctor said was from stress and high blood pressure.

Iam now back on the blood pressure pills until all this is over.

I have also not been eating much as my stomach gets churned up with stress and have thus far lost more weight. So today weight in was 74.1kg

I hope to get back to normal soon and the stress levels go down as soon as the legal side is settled. Then I will be more active with this forum.

So sorry but I have had so much on my mind……….xxxxxJJ

Don’t apologise JJ, I know what you’re going thru……I’m a renovating veteran too. Take it easy, everything will get sorted in the end. At least you have some “experts” in the family.
Everyone else is powering along. Welcome home Intesha. Glad you enjoyed Melb. You’ll be back down in no time and as long as you enjoyed it, who cares. You know how to have your cake and eat it too, now!
Nap, glad that you’ve got the health issue sorted and its just water and salt.
Merry, its incredible how much we crave carbs once we get back from vacation. I’m just hitting my straps and back into a 5:2 routine, and we leave again in 10 days.

I’m frantic too, trying to get organised for (yes) another kids birthday party, a major dog show, the trip to NZ and baking a food hamper to take to Bris for my elderly Mum. She soooo hard to buy for, so I thought I’d bake instead….starting to regret the idea already, but I know she’ll love it. so that’s the main thing.

Anyway, that’s it for now. Good luck for weigh-in tomorrow. Have a lovely evening. CM xx

Hi all, been a bit busy lately. Only had time to read the last few posts and noticed that you’re trying the chicken & bacon casserole Naptime. How was it? It smells delicious, doesn’t it? My family love it so that makes a FD very easy.

Sorry about your reno hassles Julie, take care of yourself. Welcome back Intesha. Hi CM, I’ll catch you on the MC thread. EA, are you out there somewhere? How’s it going for you?

I’m not looking for sympathy and I’m sure all will be well tomorrow but this morning, I was 1kg heavier after my FD yesterday! This has never happened before in 15 months of 5:2 and I strictly adhere to the FDs. After doing a 5km walk with some serious HIT, I remained the same but after the shower, I dropped 200 gms. I’m only mentioning this to let you know that you’re not alone with the erratic weighing issues for those newbies scratching their heads occasionally.

JJ you take care of yourself, thinking of you.

Thin I think we all need to hear that it doesn’t matter what stage you are at that there are always challenges. We just have to accept it and see where we have come from.

After FD yesterday 73.1. So much happening between now and when I go away but still hoping to get near or under 70.

Good morning, it is all little clouds with blue sky behind, in Sydney.

JJ so glad to hear how life has been, but sorry for the stress.
It is no help at the moment, but it is good that your bat sense was right. I do hope everything gets fixed the way you want it, and then you can enjoy your bathroom.
( and spend more time chatting here!)

I am really pleased at how my fast day went, I think it is the first time I really was under 500 cals. I wonder if it made a difference that I was away from home?

That bacon and chicken casserole is on my list to try!

So glad the doctor didn’t find anything too worrying Nap.

Forgot to start the bread yesterday! Today’s job.

Yes Cinque. Beautiful morning here in sunny Sydney. It’s going to be a great weekend. My bread has just finished. The whole house has that wonderful freshly cooked bread aroma. Smells fabulous!!!
Have a good weekend folks. P

You can do it Intesha. I’m seeing my GP next week for my bi-annual full service. I wanted to get my blood readings before our holiday so I can see the full effect of the weight loss and fasting. The last time he weighed me, I’d lost 10kgs and, as he recorded it, he asked me to get back on the scales to double check and then said, “Bloody hell, what have you been doing?”. I’ve since lost 13kgs more so I’m expecting more expletives.

Morning All you wonderful losers! Slendier Angel-Hair Update….I spoke to both Coles & Woolies…the things I do for you guys! Woolies has said that “the product has come to the end of its life-cycle” whatever the hell that means, and were totally unhelpful in general….same old thing. Oh, this is Australia-Wide too. Coles agreed it had been discontinued at several of my local stores, but also told me which stores were still stocking it nearby – AND he was requesting it be reinstated locally. Onya, Coles! So don’t give up if something vanishes from the shelves…..have a whinge!! We’re the customers and you never know they might listen to US!!! I’ve advised Slendier and they will now investigate and get back to me. If you love the angel hair, suggest you grab some if you see it.
    Will keep you updated.
In a rush now, will post later…..CM xx

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good Friday. I had a FD yesterday, and so weighed in today – up a kilo. I felt like last weigh in was exceptionally low, so I wasn’t devastated, although was a bit disappointed. I also realise with my health being a bit weird, I hadn’t cut the carbs down, and had been having bread for lunch. So, maybe that could be some of it.

Thin, the chicken and bacon casserole was beautiful! It tasted almost creamy. And yes, the smell was heavenly.
Sorry you weighed heavier though, Thin. I hope it soon drops back down. I would be interested in hearing how you incorporate your HIT into your walk. I have tried all sorts when I am walking, but can’t get my heart rate up high enough in a quick amount of time.

Good job CM, with the Slendier!

Have a great night, everyone. Who is fasting tomorrow?

Hi Nap, no I’m not fasting tomorrow. Never on a weekend! Still don’t know how Thin fasts every Sunday! My weight has been a bit strange too. Up, down, etc. But that’s ok, I’m happy where I am…..? how are you feeling…..you too Coast & Merry??
Have a lovely evening & a fabulous weekend. CM xx

Thanks for the Slendier update CM.

Good, glad you liked the recipe Naptime. As far as the HIT, I just set one minute on my phone and then set off walking as fast as I possibly can (probably look ridiculous) until the timer goes off. Then I walk for a few minutes at a normal pace. I do this about 10 times during a 5km walk. Yes, strangely, I was back down 800gms to 60.2kg this morning (we had fish for dinner last night). Unfortunately, I’ve probably sabotaged that tonight by ordering an Indian takeaway. Oh well, as long as I’m within 60-61kgs, it doesn’t matter.

????????????????????? Happy Birthday Bay! The great fasting guru of the south. I hope you have a great day and the Wallabies reign supreme tomorrow ? P

    Happy Birthday Bay! ?

    Great Slendier activism CM.

Sydney is being very kind to me with mild weather. My bread rose beautifully yesterday and overnight, and I have put it up to rise again. I will cook it inside a saucepan in the oven so it steams and bakes, for a lovely texture and crust (fingers crossed). Then this home will smell like Purple’s did yesterday!

I’m planning on fasting again on Monday, and will have my new fast day diet of miso soup in the morning and veggie and lentil soup in the evening.

All my other news is about how completely adorable my granddaughter is!
I hope you all have a lovely, healthful, pleasurable Saturday ?

    Hi Purple

Thanks for birthday day wishes. ?? You are turning into the emoti guru.

Thanks also for your support and Thin’s and others through this last week of feeling down. I am pretty sure that it’s a matter of giving up sugar and carbs for a few months, and I will be down at my lowest weight again. I’m looking to the sugar free Advent challenge to,achieve that before Christmas.

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

    Good morning all.
I popped in to read the posts and say hello.
I weighed 73.1 this morning which now makes a total weight loss of 11.3kg.
I read about the slendier angel hair. Great if you can get the supermarket to restock it for you, but if you have problems and have an asian grocery shop near you, you will be able purchase the white konnyaku that is usually in the refridgerated sections and looks the same. It is really the same product and I find my local asian shop sells it cheaper than coles or woolworths.
Everyone is talking about the chicken and bacon casserole which by all the posts sounds great. If someone posted the recipe I shall scroll back and look for it. I think my whole family might like this one.

    JJ

Thin posted the recipe on the Recipes thread under SH recipes. Glad you’re back with us.

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

    Hi SH,

Firstly, Happy belated birthday Bay :))
sorry to read you had been feeling down, but hopefully you are on the up now.

Welcome back JJ – wow you’ve been having a stressful time – lot’s to do – but glad you popped in to say hello. I thought you were way on holiday somewhere. While you were gone we started a SH FD Recipe page so we could access all the wonderful recipe ideas that you all share without having to scroll through thousands of entries 🙂 You can get there fast by selecting my profile and the link is on my page. I was hoping you’d get back soon because you have a lot of recipes that could go on our recipe thread.

Cinque, love the sound of the smells of your baking :). and you are baking too PVG. I wish I could bake because I love bread but bread is not my friend and I have to ban it from the house most of the time.

CM, good sleuthing for noodles. I am glad to say that Coles still has heaps here on the Coast though I use the konnyaku noodles from an Asian store. Hope you all sort out your supply issues.

Going well Thin – hope you enjoyed the Indian 🙂

Nap, you have been doing well and it’s good you are looking out for your health issues and managing them.

hello to everyone else, good fasting,

    Coast

    Hello again SH,

Did a semi FD on Friday and according to my digital scale I have managed to get down to my PB on the morning of my birthday two weeks ago (just prior to my week of birthday indulgences) – that was 9kg gone – now I am 8.5kgs gone.

On my old scales haven’t quite got there yet – that’s the one that I usually go by but sometimes the digital tells me what I want to see 🙂

oh, and I finally bought myself a gift for reaching my first goal – 8kg gone – access to the whole months worth of talks and meditations from this months Mindfulness Summit.

Next FDs are Monday, Wednesday and a semi on Friday.

    Coast

    Coast

Morning, everyone. Happy Birthday for yesterday, Bay!

Coast, congrats to nearly losing all that weight again.

JJ the recipe thread has some great recipes on there. Thin has put up a few that I can personally say “yum” to. We had the leftovers of the chicken and bacon casserole last night, and I think it was even nicer.

Cinque, your lentil and veggie soup sounds nice. Have you got a recipe? I have a nice tomato and lentil soup – but would love a different lentil one if you have it.

I felt like I needed to do my 4:3 this week, not try to go to 5:2, so had a FD yesterday. It went well – until OH brought out a sausage roll after dinner – argh! I did have a couple of bites, but refused anymore – so I am quite proud of myself. I am getting better at saying no to things. The scales were kinder yesterday, as I weighed at the same time I normally do (no food or drink, and after a walk and shower). I had only put on 100g from last week, so happier with that.

They are predicting more rain here, so once OH gets off to work, I had better go for that walk!
Have a great FD, Thin, and anyone else joining you. Everyone else have a good Non FD :-).

Good morning everyone, well I am disappointed with my bread, so you can stop any cravings. I just can’t seem to cook a good loaf at my daughters house!
I don’t use a recipe for my basic veggie soup: I fry up some onion, celery, carrot (chopped small) add stock and lots of diced veggies, and usually some thyme from the garden, and a tin of diced tomatoes, cook the veggies and season to taste. I often add lentils to this.
It will be a challenge cooking it here, no onions, frozen vegetables – but some little split red lentils, and she is growing thyme!
I do love two classic lentil soups, a French one with carrot and celery, and a Lebanese one with spinach. I will try to find the recipes and put them on the recipe thread.
I have other lovely soup recipes but I am not sure they are good fast day ones. I’ll check through my recipes when I get home. I’ll even write a note to remind myself. The zucchini one would be good, and I have a lovely one for anyone growing cherry tomatoes!

Bay, hoping your birthday is the start of a lovely new era. I must say that my experience is that a combination of 5:2 as well as cutting out sugar and refined carbs, is the best for making eating easy and good.

    Cheers all

Hi Coast, Cinque, Naptime, and all

Many thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes. Beginning today with eggs, avocado, tomato, cheese. No carbs or sugar. ??

    Cheers, Bay ??

Happy Birthday for yesterday Bay! Beginning of a new year. May it be healthy and happy.

Hi to everyone. Hope you’re having a good day so far and happy FD to the Sunday fasters. I think there’s 2?

I’m trialling a new medication for CFS/ME and while it has few side effects I think it’s making me sleep more, and a bit more tired in the day, so I’m reading the list but not posting much. Also means I’m less active, so with one of ‘those days’ on Friday as well, my weight has gone up a 1kg. Did the wrong thing on Friday. Ate out for lunch and decided my usual choice of sashimi and seaweed salad was too expensive, and has sushi and seaweed salad instead, and chose those with as little rice as possible. Stupid decision because I saved myself about $3, and set myself off on a carb/sugar binge. Just plain stupid. So… Still doing my post travel carb fight with myself. Takes me 5 days without any to really stop craving it. (To any newbies, this is not so normal, it’s part of a particular food intolerance cycle that goes with my medical profile, where intolerant foods are addictive. Bad grammer, but hey, who cares. ).I’m now starting to think about my grandson’s birthday and Christmas which will come all together, when it’s harder to avoid carbs and sugar.

Can’t not eat a little one’s birthday cake, especially a quiet perceptive little one who said to me at breakfast time last time I was there “you eating?”. This from a 2yr old. A reminder that they’re always watching even if they don’t seem to be. They watch us overeat, and eat healthily; they watch what we buy, choose to eat, and they watch what we do on fast days too. Just wondering how younger people explain FDs to their children.

Back to doing 16:8 on non FDs, so time to go have my 1 st meal of the day. Boiled egg and salad.
    Merry

Hi Merry, good luck with the new medication, I would love one that led to me sleeping more.
I also understand that sugar/refined carbs cascade, I suffer from it too.

Hi Bay, sounds like the day is starting very nicely!

My two cents worth about the birthday cake: it is just the same as if you were seriously allergic to it. I would say ( very sadly) that I can’t eat it. I might ask grandchild if they would have a big bite for me and tell me if it tastes very good. Or say that I would take a photo instead, and put it on my desktop, or print it out to put on the fridge. I would assure them that I can still sing happy birthday and watch them blow out the candles.
My granddaughter has only just turned one, so I am not quite in that position yet, but I will be, and I won’t be eating birthday cake. Sadly.
    Enjoy your meal!
    More cheers to everyone.

    Hi Merry

On a fast day I tell my grandkids that I am allowing my body to have a rest day from food. And that sugar is particularly bad for my body. Maybe I ate too much yesterday and that today I’m not hungry.

I will take their picture and sing happy birthday and be as much fun as possible. The message I’m sending to them I hope, is not sad denial, but that celebrating their birthday doesn’t only have to be about sweet things. Hope it works.

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

Hi there girls, I’ve caved in and had my cauliflower soup half an hour before schedule. I made a deal with myself that I’d have half now and half mid-afternoon. I wonder if I felt so hungry because I ate two (bite size) snickers bars last night when the trick or treaters failed to materialise in the numbers we’d anticipated.

Very tricky regarding the modelling of eating habits to children. We have to be so careful. In my daughter’s circle of primary school friends, I’ll never forget an 8 year old saying she was not eating something because she didn’t want to get fat. You’re handling it perfectly Bay – especially if they see you don’t feel you’re missing out and it’s no drama for you to abstain. How was the party? What fare did you serve?

    H Thin

Very tricky indeed. We had a close shave with a young persons eating disorder, so I’m very careful. Sometimes I have a teeny tiny slice and leave it on my plate while making a big fuss over the birthday person. I am able to leave anything with wheat in it, explaining I have a problem digesting wheat. Which I do. Whatever I do, I try to make it no big deal. And I never ever mention losing weight. Or being too fat.

Good for you with the cauliflower soup. I eat when it suits me on a fast day. ??
    Cheers, Bay 🙂

I was at boarding school with a girl who suffered from anorexia nervosa. It’s a horrendous psychosis. I could imagine a young person’s self-image distortions becoming even more pronounced with all the pressures of social media especially the ‘look at me’ facebook. The eight year old I mentioned above is now 20 and it’s clear there’s still an issue.

Just saying hi as I have just joined this forum. Am starting this WOL again and am very excited as it’s the only thing that works for me as diets are so tedious day after day. Last time I lost 5kg but had an issue with headaches. Hoping to overcome them this time 🙂

Hi Jane, welcome here! Fingers crossed you can avoid headaches this time! Might it have been dehydration?
I’m guessing from your user name that you are in NSW? I live in Melbourne but I am in Sydney at the moment visiting my daughters family. Impressive storm right now!

    Hi Jane
Welcome to the thread. Some of us take a pinch of salt and some have a miso drink. We all try to drink 2 litres of water on a fast day to replace the fluids we normally get from food. I have to measure my water, otherwise I fib to myself about how much I have drunk. I fill up a litre bottle and keep pouring from it. One litre by lunchtime and another litre after lunch. It’s a lot of fluid, but your body gets used to it.
    Cheers, Bay ??

Cinque, I haven’t had time to read all the posts lately – did you weigh in at your daughter’s? What’s the result so far? Oh, I’ve just scrolled to the top of the page and read that you’ve lost 3kgs. Yeah! Congratulations. Glad you’re having fun there.

Welcome Jane. Quite a few people have reported headaches on this thread but said they eventually passed so stick with it and hopefully that will be the case for you too.

Good morning everyone, it is a lovely cool Sydney morning.

Yes Thin, I weighed myself on the famous dodgy scales and I am pretty sure I have lost 3 kg in three months, and less sure if I weigh 59 kg or not!

It is fast day for me. I will see how I go with just miso soup, with a bit of spring onion in, for breakfast. I still have a few cuppas ( with milk) so that will be giving me enough calories to go on with I hope, and then I will have a lovely bowl of veggie soup in the evening.

I put a recipe for French style lentil soup up on the recipe thread, but I think I will wait til I get home and find my recipe for the Lebanese style lentil soup that has spinach and a squeeze of lemon at the end. It has some potato in too, but I think anyone wanting to avoid potato could replace it with parsnip, or maybe zucchini, or any root vegetable, or leave it out….. ?

Best wishes for a good day everyone. When are you fasting Jane?

What’s your goal weight Cinque? All the best for your fast day and all others fasting today.

Thanks Thin, I think my goal weight would be somewhere around 53 kg. I am into the top range of a normal bmi, so that is good, just lots of flabby areas that should go!

Merry, final word on the grandson’s birthday cake, if it is a delicious cake, and you love sharing in the family tradition, and you choose that this is a sweet thing you really want to eat, then of course I hope you enjoy every bite, and that your grandchild is delighted too.

Midday here and I still haven’t had my morning miso soup ( I have had a cup of tea and two coffees). It will be an afternoon miso soup.
    ?

Evening, all SH. I hope you all had a good day.

Hi Jane, and welcome. I hope you can get over the headaches.

Cinque, I look forward to your recipes on soups. I need to find something else to eat for lunches on FD, as I am getting bored – and now trying to limit bread, I need to find something for non FD as well.

Merry, good luck with the meds – I hope they help and make life more bearable. I assume 16:8 is fasting for 16 hours and then eating for 8 – is that right?

FD today for me. I have noticed that some areas of me are getting smaller, which is awesome. I will have to take my measurements soon, and see how much I have lost.

How did everyone else go today?
