Hello ! just started today 😬

  • I wanted introduce myself, I am 52 and need to lose more than 50 pounds….honestly it is a bit ominous.
    A visiting friend recommended this to me and I have been aware of 5:2 for a few years but have never mustered the will to start yet another diet. I watched The Fast Diet Documentary this morning, Michaels experience resonated with me and obviously inspired me, I was not at all planning to start this today but here I am, counting calories and crossing fingers.

    A little background, Started swimming 3 times a week 8 weeks ago, it takes a lot of motivation every time but the rewards have been encouraging just from the unexpected happiness regular exercise has given me, hoping the same thing type of epiphany will be part of the 5:2 diet/lifestyle.

    I look forward to hearing about everyone’s struggles and accomplishments.
    Any advice and encouragement will be appreciated and hello from California!I

    Hi DeGs and welcome to the forum.

    As advice, beside 5:2, I can strongly recommend intermittent fasting for non-fast days (2-3 meals in an 4-8 hours eating window), if you think it suits you.

    hi , i started the 5:2 diet yesterday , after reading the book and thinking i CAN do this…. i honestly found yesterday quite easy ,i had a 100 cal breakfast at 7.30 am , i like to road run so did a 10 mile run and had a 300 cal chicken , courgettie spagetti tea with a few grapes and strawberries…i also drank quite a bit of water and 4 cups of black coffee , i expected to wake up this morning famished and suprisingly iv no hunger at all …. good luck and i wish you every success xxx

    Thanks for the tip and for replying, I am on day two and have not done a fast yet, I just ordered the book yesterday. Can you please explain a bit more what you do with the the intermittent fasting?

    Have not done a fast day yet but I found a very easy app for counting calories, which I have always found so tedious but it makes it quite simple and yes lots of water!
