  • Afternoon all!

So I started my 5:2 journey 3 weeks ago today. I have to admit, in general I feel great. I weigh myself before and after a fast. This last week though, I’m finding my weight is fluctuating by about 2kg at a time. Any tips on how to stop these flutuations? I am exercising more the last week so I’m hoping that stops things in its tracks and puts me back on the weight loss wagon. I’ve lost and kept off a further 2kg but the fluctuations are getting to me.

    Happy fasting xx

    Hello Jennifer88

don’t fret over the fluctuation in your weight.. I am in the same boat..
my weight goes up and down all the time… I read on the Dr. Diet site that everyone is in the same boat and he calls it “noise”..
the body will retain water for many reasons.. therefore will see weight go up and down..
I find if my cloths fit and I feel good.. just keep on doing what I”m doing..and the “noise” will move down… hate to say it but.. your body will always be doing this…
I do hear you.. it is very frustrating… I am 55 and hormones are playing a big part in my weight.. my weight was always between 140 = 145ish.. now it is creeping up to over 150.. therefore I am incorporating the fast with my low carb high fat way of eating… started on Monday and I’m down 3 pounds. my goal is 140ish..and keep it there!.. just to say. my night weight can be up to 10 pounds more then my morning weight.. I also have arthritis and inflammation will play a part in the “noise”
I do feel so much better. even noticed the last 2 night that I have fasted I didn’t have night hot flashes.. perhaps there is a connection???
    Hope this helps you …
    All the Best

    Hi Arev,

They do say that the fasting causes cells to repair rather than regenerate. It could be that it’s helping to improve your hot flashes 🙂 I know my big downfall is weekends as we usually have something planned that involves food and alcohol! Like this weekend, we have. 40th birthday party. However, I’m choosing not to drink as I have a race to run on the Sunday.

Good luck with your weight loss.
