  • Lovely to read the posts and see that you are all doing well and are having some nicer weather… finally!

    I have been reading allot about carbs recently too and I am looking to cut them from my diet entirely so nice to read the positive things you have noticed Hemmy. I think I will just struggle with rice, especially when my husband cooks and he does the best food too! Ha ha ha! I can always have everything else without the rice though and hopefully after time like you have said there wont be any cravings.

    I feel asleep in the chair today, I knew I would after 4 hours sleep at night so missed most of the afternoon.
    Nice piece of chunky granary with egg and slice of ham and a bowl of soup for lunch.

    Dinner awaits….. I’m going for 6pm as that will avoid a lot of traffic. I’m just leaving so will let you know, I gave already said no to fish and chips and the replacement pie so I think it will be gammon.

    Yes I did say I was doing it Hemmy, and so far I am! LOL
    Weighed in on Monday morning and had pur 1 LB on 🙁 Completely forgot about measuring myself (duh) so I will do that later today.
    Had a FD yesterday and got weighed this morning – 3lb down! Probably a total fluke but it gave me a boost 🙂 I’m trying for another FD today, only had water and 3 coffees with small amount of milk in so far.
    Ginette some of those recipes look great. Thanks for posting them. I need to get to the shops to get some ingrediants – like butternut squash and sweet potato – then I’ll have myself a nice low cal feast. Think I also need to get more fruit, it sounds as though it’s working for all of you. I have some in the freezer, mango, blueberrys etc, do you think it would be ok to use that?

    Symba It sounds lovely where you are, I’m quite jealous! I agree it’s the PORTIONS that are the problem, trouble is for most of us we don’t have a ‘stop’ button!
    DS cleared out some of the rubbish from the loft and we took it to the tip this afternoon. Still loads to do though and my wardrobes are screaming at me to get rid of the clutter! Why do I put things off when I know it’s only going to get worse, not better?
    Anywy going to have a nice long soak in the bath and then decide what I’m going to eat. I really do need to get organised.

    Today I have found is much easier. …. just had liquids all day…

    I have had a cup of soup and a milky coffee and am allowed an hot chocolate drink before bed….

    Isn’t it funny how some days it’s easy whilst yesterday I battled all day long!

    Glad it’s been better today Audrey. I find it’s definitely a battle of the mind whether it’s a good day or a bad. It’s like having the good angel on one shoulder and the bad angel on the other shoulder…and sometimes the bad angel wins! LOL

    Clarkey meant to say in my earlier post that instead of rice with your meal have you heard of ‘cauliflower rice’? Easy to look up on the net and if you like cauliflower it gives you something to mop your meal up with in place of the real rice…. no carbs and loads less calories. 🙂

    Get those fruits out of the freezer … fruit in the morning till lunch time is the way to go. Really cleans your system.. and seems to stop the cravings.. plus cutting down on the nasty carbs. Good luck Coffee… we can definitely all do this. Xx

    Morning all

    Up early this morning and ready for the day ahead….. it’s funny I was starving last night when I went to bed thinking of all I could eat today but now not that hungry!

    Am going to give the dogs a quick brush sonny is a fluffy border collie and is moulting very badly so every day I am taking loads of dead fur off him…. he was beginning to look like a Burmese mountain dog….

    Once dogs are done am going to pop the steamer on and give the kitchen a good clean before we go tomorrow. … I like to come home to a clean house, it drives ian nuts hehe….

    Well done on all your weight loss long may it continue. … I am back to same weight I was last week with one more day to go before my weigh in looking at perhaps a small loss this week …

    Another lovely day here.. beautiful blue sky.. we have hit the weather right. My BBQ is calling although I have it with me I brought the wrong food!

    Tomorrow the Queen and I celebrate our birthday.. 21 gun salute.. always special… Lol

    FD tomorrow for us.. Thursday.

    I shall have a meal out on Friday.. Sorry girls a day off but I will not have lunch so I will pull it back. Fish and chips are calling lol 😀

    I am really enjoying my fruit… It really helps the calories.

    Bakewell and Matlock is our visiting place today, so some walking, hubbys knees make us walk slow and not as far I would like.. Not making my 10,000 steps this week but nearly !!

    Morning all. Another lovely day out there. Off for a walk in a bit to clear some of the excess calories from yesterday – I fell off the wagon a bit; I blame being due on as all I ever want to do then is eat 😀 – but I’m not beating myself up over it. Have a friend visiting today and we intend to walk to the docks and back which takes a good hour and a half. First really long walk since the op so wish me luck!

    Hi Jean

    I had gammon, salad and boiled potatoes in their jackets. After swerving fish and chips and pie that was quite good. I even managed to avoid the cakes in the cupboard when getting dogs treat out. Pam had also got two cream cakes which I avoided, I got to fancy something nice time in the evening and contacted myself on 3 ryvita with a scraping of marmalade.

    I thought “those girls will be proud I didn’t succumb” :). Health trainer today so will get my starting point with him as well. Mmmm…..Bakewell isn’t that the home of the tarts, you will need your willpower today. Don’t worry about that meal, a meal out is fine. I did a wedding meal, a meal out, pie and chips at Pams as she had already cooked it and I also think 1/2 a portion of fish and chips as Pam loves her treat…..and I still lost 16lbs. So enjoy it and know that it is a real treat.

    Well done! Great start 3lbs loss. I’m glad you liked the recipes. It should make things easier for you. Nothing like a bit of clearing out. I can see small spaces now although still a lot to do.

    Looks like you might need wellies with you then. Hopefully some warm weather and sunshine will sort that out. It may have improved in a few days. It’s nice to have a change of scene as well, it will hopefully feel like a bit of a break. I’m glad yesterday was a better day. Yes as you say sometimes you just have to accept a bad day and as long as this is followed swiftly by a good day no harm done.

    On your last post it sounds as if you are going to steam and brush the dog. 🙂 what is your dogs name? Long may your energy last!!

    That was bound to happen. Loss is a terrible thing and we all go through stages with it. You will gave some days better than others but you will come out the other end. Keep with us. Going through the grieving process will help you. Sorry to hear about your father in law. Try to have more good days and bad if you can. My thoughts are with you as you see are many others here.xx

    Weather us lovely here today. I agree it really makes us feel good. Sorting later on after the health trainer I think and maybe after calling in at farm foods and getting some rhubarb. Fruit in a minute and a cup of tea before I get ready. Fast day today as normal. I think you are fasting today aren’t you?

    I shall try my steamer attachments soon for now I have just been concentrating on the sorting and just steaming the floor. I must get on with the sorting first. I have had a bit of a lazy week as I only did a couple of hours the other day. Maybe today will be more productive. The sun always helps.

    I shall be calling in to see a neighbour on the way back so I mustn’t stay there too long or I won’t get much done.

    Not to worry about one bad day as Audrey says falling off the wagon isn’t the problem but not getting on is. Enjoy your walk, take things slowly.

    Whatever anybody is doing today enjoy it, however mundane it is, it makes the day go quicker and makes us happier. I take a lot of pleasure in sorting, it is nice to see results and those bags going out. I have two spare rooms and a lot of things “stored” in them. So I will get to them in time.

    I have 2 dogs…. the eldest is Lucy better known as Lucy fur because she is a little devil … she is a cross between a collie and some sort of terrier….she is a rescue dog about 12 now…

    The other is sonny he is a 6 years old a border collie off working stock but the biggest collie I have ever seen…. he has a very thick coat that needs a lot of brushing. … they did say when we got him his dad was a big dog, Ian often jokes about going back to see if we can see the donkey!

    Didn’t steam him….. just the kitchen and bathroom which were both in need of a deep clean!

    Glad you had a nice visit with Pam and yes I for one am proud of you for resisting the cakes etc…. WELL DONE!

    Hi all, down a pound and a half after Sundays FD and its a FD for us again today. Going to have qourn bologenese with julienne red pepper, carrot and courgette for dinner tonight. Hoping to go through more boxes in the lounge and may be a bit of painting too. Got a stack of stuff to drop off at charity shop. So getting there slowly. Hope every one has a good and sunny day.

    Coffee if you have a waitrose near by they do frozen butternut squash. We always keep a bag in the freezer.

    Mojo I suffer really badly just before a period too. I revert to an eating machine.

    Symba. Look out for merlot grape juice in waitrose, its in the chiller cabinet. Tesco and morrisons also do some fab long life red grape juice.

    Back from our roaming a lovely morning out.

    No Bakewell tart eaten… Called at a lovely coffee shop cakes to die for… No we didn’t!

    I had a haddock no chips not like some people who had the lot!! Still in my allowance 200 calories left for tonight.. Making 800 ish.

    CC… Well done on your 1 1/2 pounds off… another one doing a lot of sorting..

    Ginette… Gammon and new potatoes sounds lovely… I am thinking over the 6 weeks may have Friday off.. so I can have a wine and a bit extra.. 1200/1300 calories.

    Audrey… I know what you mean with the fur.. All over the place..Our old cat needs brushing, she doesn’t get into the corners with her arthritis, I say brush time she hides!! I try three times a week just to help her with her grooming.

    Considering we have been away.. I have done not too bad. Coming in today at 810 calories leading into fast day.

    Really wanted wine and cakes! Knocked on a magnum this evening..I got asked three times! Hubby not so good holiday mode beer and fish and chips! We have choc biscuits in van none eaten by us!

    What a wonderful warm sunny day again. A good FD .. so much easier when its warm .

    Fruit for lunch then a salad with boiled eggs and soup tonight. Still not eaten hardly any carbs.

    Sitting out reading till 5pm .. I did so fancy a glass of wine. lol Thought no if Gine and Sym can resit those temptations so can I. Lol

    Sym you were so brave not buying a bakewell tart. If I remember right they were so different to the ones bought at home.

    Aud I know what you mean about dogs hair. Mr Pips being a spaniel is not too bad.. but he is moulting now .. so glad I have a pet hoover.

    Well done on not having a Bakewell. You have very in temptations way a lot today. Well done for staying strong. I don’t think it will hurt to have a normal Friday. If it helps you get through the rest of the week it will be good for you to have something to look forward to. Well done on coming in at around 800 calories. I am not using MFP to log at the moment as I know my fast days are around target and my NFDs will be relatively low because of no rubbish and limited carbs.

    Did a bit of sorting but I got tired after three hours, batteries running down. I still gave to clear my bed before I can get into it. It seems like there is still so much to do….. I did a bit of housework as well before I went out. Next appointment to see my trainer is in 4 weeks time. I have told him I wanted to lose 2 stone this year, if I lose two stone this year and two stone next year I will be at target.

    I think that maybe you would have found it difficult as you are still quite new to 5:2. Just watch how we do and put it at the back of your mind, you can try next year. It is nice to do this time of the year as summer approaches. Hemmy and Jean like myself have been doing this for at least a few months.

    Get better, cut back where you can on the food that isn’t so good for you and just join in with our chatter. It is always nice to hear from you.

    Yes I used salad and gammon that was left over from Sunday and Pam cooked potatoes. A nice dinner. It must have been lovely sitting in the sun, the housework can always wait until a day that isn’t as nice. I am now passing on books as I have so many and yet only read the once. Now I listen to talking books I don’t do a lot of real reading. I do when I go away but not planning to at the moment.

    I never did get the rhubarb as I wanted to call in at a neighbours and I can’t fit another thing into the freezer, I shall go next week when I need to top up.

    I just ordered the nets although they call them voiles (probably so they can charge more). Kitchen and living room £35 this seems expensive to me but I do keep them years. These are nice modern ones with a small lines in not flowery.

    I had a white cat and had fur everywhere especially on burgundy carpet. I would love laminate but living in a flat I think it us unfair to neighbours.

    Had a fantastic wedding ( zip went up with ease ) fabulous all inclusive holiday to Mexico and a epic weight gain of 10lb. Back to the WOL for me ready for summer.

    Read some of your post HELLO newbies and well done to all that have stuck with it and to all that has slipped of the wagon start a fresh and get back on.

    What’s this fast beach diet ? I’m up for anything to help shift this extra gain.

    Welcome back, glad the wedding went well and zip went up easily. I think you will lose a few pounds with food in transit over the next week.

    Hemmy, Jean, Coffee and myself are doing this with others like Audrey joining in the sidelines and cutting out something extra.

    Here is an old article in the mail about it and I will post a link to the planner as well. I did this last year and lost 16lbs. It was after a period of eating all the wrong foods over Easter (as is the same this year but this time since Christmas)!

    We are all in the first week. I am having a few aches and pains and feeling really tired. I looked up sugar withdrawal and it did say it is best to withdrawal over a few weeks to avoid bad headaches (thankfully none of these yet) and pains as if you have flu, I also have a complete lack of energy but I remember that they had thus on sugar farm where they withdrew from sugar. I am still having fruit which obviously contains sugar but I have cut right down on carbs and no treats (these for me are mostly sugar laden apart from the odd pizza or ready meal). I even had to take ibroprofen at 3 this morning to get to sleep. But I am sure it will be worth it.

    I am glad all is going well for you. My food choices are going well. I have a few aches and pains and a complete lack of energy, I hope this soon passes. Waiting for that energy from the fruit to kick in. Hopefully soon.

    I am going to Pams today and Saturday so on Saturday I shall buy some fish and oven chips and make fish and chips for Pam in the oven. This will hopefully make up for her not getting her fish and chips the other day. I’m going to try Aldis frozen fish as I am told that is really good and proper flakes not the mush that youngs sells to pass as fish.

    All home safe and sound.

    Emptied car …two washer loads done..joint of ham cooked for dinner tonight.

    Ginette…looking good on scales for you..that’s the gal…scary jumping on the scales tomorrow after all the long plateaus we have had with just a bit of movement..at least a pound off needed, tried really hard this week a lot of thought before eating!!

    Audrey…weather still good for you, you will maybe get your outside jobs done…have a nice few days.

    Hemmy.. Are you weighing in Saturday? Have a good 800 calorie today. I feel as if I have had a good week don’t want a plateau this week lol

    Lynda….are you joining us on the FBD, I think you was more or less on it before the wedding….get the dress out and let’s see the zip go up again….I have a lovely dress I altered down last time I lost 30 lb, I should get it out and see what I have to loose this time….lol

    Gine… Yes, I felt tired initially cutting the carbs/sugar. As I have said before I don’t think fruit sugar wise is a worry as its natural. Not like sugar filled carbs and all the other rubbish in them. Honestly … how can some of these cakes etc last for months on end. Homemade cakes other than fruit cake is better eaten within days or stale… as there is no preservatives in them.

    Did my 2 FD Monday and Tuesday and hoping to either do 500 or 800 today. Haven’t had anything so far other than a couple of coffees with a dash of milk.
    Just got weighed ( couldn’t resist!) and still 2lbs down from Monday – guess the 3lb WAS a fluke LOL
    Audrey hope the pitch wasn’t in too bad a state when you got there? I’m sure the scales will be kinder to you next weigh in. I know we can do it if we put our minds to it.

    Since I got weighed Monday morning to start this FBD I assume that my ‘weekly’ weigh in will also be Monday morning? I feel OK so far and am really hoping that we all manage to lose a fair amount in the 6 weeks.

    Thanks I have had a lovely day …ham joint was lovely I should buy it more often instead of the usual packets. It does make the fast dinner better.

    Sym .. I would imagine frozen fruits would be fine. I have loads of apples in the freezer I picked last year while walking. Was thinking I may use them for breakfast.

    Is natural live yogurt sugar free. G will tell us . Good luck tomorrow … I bet its been hard going this week though being away and your Birthday.
