Eek, that’s nearly a stone gold π For you.

My heart goes out to you, I know from recent experience it isn’t easy when relatives are in hospital.
Just do your best, 52 will still be here when you are all sorted out, just concentrate on your dad for now… try to make informed decisions on food but don’t panic if it doesn’t always turn out that way, your dad is more important at the moment…
God bless
Audrey
thank you Audrey and hemmy
today I did have a hot chocolate and the tiny ‘free’ biscuit they gave, but apart from that just water at the hosp
its hard as you walk past WHS full of stacks of crisps and chocolate – especially because in the past I would have automatically gone in to buy something
I am no help really, to mum, as I don’t drive, and cant even be in the lift with her (she is not keen), as they scare me too much, so I have to walk up the 6 flights of stairs, very very very slowly
brother is here for a few days so he drives, but I think I am probably more of a pain than a help
dad is fighting the staff over his feeding tube, which he pulled out last night and refused to have today – but they are putting it back tonight – he doesn’t realise how vital it is of course
goodness it is tiring just sitting there for hours
and too many mirrors in the hospital loos, too, soooooo depressing
Hi KT
Well done for walking past those snacks. No mean feat when you are under pressure
As you said at one time you would have automatically gone in to buy something.
So see how far you have come already. Xx
You are helping your Mum by just being there. Having her family around her is worth its weight in gold.
I think most of us find hospitals daunting… one way and another. Think the best way to deal with it is just by thinking your Dad is in the very best hands at the moment.
I know what you mean about lifts.. I hate them. Would far rather use the stairs. Always frighten I will get stuck and want to use the loo. Lol
Take care KT you are doing so very well all round… stay with us KT. Hugs. Xx
Hi Guys.
Had a rubbish weekend.
Friday : date night. Hubby had ordered pizzas and got Prosecco and chocolates in for a romantic meal. He looked so disheartened when I said I was fasting. Queue over indulgence.
Saturday : family reunion. Posh meal midday followed by buffet supper.
Sunday : family breakfast and goodbye lunch for the late arrivals.
So today it’s been a zero calorie fast. It hasn’t been too hard but knowing I should repeat tomorrow, miss a day and put in another fast just to keep on track seems soooo daunting.
Bit fed up tbh. Sorry to bring the mood down…
Victoria

Don’t beat yourself up…. you don’t need a 2nd fast tomorrow just eat sensible then do another later in the week!
Life is short and family are precious, enjoy them if you don’t lose this week there is always next week.
Hehe hemmy we almost did it again, mum and her friend are tucking into chocolates as I write this, I have done my 10,000 steps and am below 500 kcals …. also worked out for 70 mins so now in zero calories…
Audrey
Hi Vet
That sounded like a fantastic week-end to me. Lol We still have to live and enjoy ourselves.
How lovely having a date night. Keep that romance going girl.
You have had a wonderful FD today so why don’t you just revert back to normal now. I bet the week-end extras will put themselves to right.
Good ole 5-2 will win the day in the end. Xx
Hi Jean
I didn’t see much of Pam as she took herself off to bed early, best thing really. She is off to the docs for Antibiotics tomorrow. I know she is really bad as she didn’t even smoke. It’s so stupid with chest complaints to carry on smoking but as you probably know die hard smokers won’t listen…… so very frustrating! I shall be up there again tomorrow.
Lynda
What a great result. That walking obviously pays off along with the fasts of course. Great that you are now just overweight. It feels good to change a category. π
I am just hoping to get from the severely obese to the obese range. I started off in the morbidly obese and have another 7lbs to go to get into the obese range. I shall be really happy just to reach another milestone. It’s all relative though.
When is the Zip day?
Hi Hemmy
Very wise to stay off for a day. Too true, I have been locked in the past for a long time, not losing just gaining more, pre 5:2 of course. I reckon at least at the moment I am managing to stand still and not gain. That is good and I know it will start moving and I will get motivated back into exercise.
Hi Audrey
I agree stick with what works for you food wise.
Take things gradually, you will know what you can do….. hopefully you won’t wet the bed picking dandelions! Enjoy being with your Mum.
Hi Emily
That is the best day that they can have that when you are fasting. Maybe you could put away one thing for tomorrow though. I hope you were strong. These kinds of days are really the ultimate test. As Audrey says you can have them tomorrow.
Hi KT
Well done you. You are showing great willpower. That shows how far you have come.
Hi All
Back again as the post went over the page.
Hi Plainy
I forgot to say, what a fantastic weight lost, you must be thrilled. Is your fiancΓ© noticing yet? It is nice when people do. I was so overweight it took about three stone for people to notice. I am still very overweight but much smaller and I am down about two clothes sizes, this is where you will notice it.
KT
You are really doing well and people appreciate just the fact that you are there. I agree on Audrey with this one. Just be supportive that will be a great help to all around you.
Hi Victoria
It was just one weekend, put it behind you. I wouldn’t do two fasts together unless you are really determined to. Eat sensibly for a couple of days and then do another fast.
Hi Hemmy
Good luck for tomorrow. I hope you have lost.
See
You all tomorrow.
Ginette
Hi KT
Well as you see you are already one step ahead of me. It is all relevant though as I said, I have lost enough weight to move down a category and I shall be in the next category down before the end of the year, hopefully sooner.
Just carry on working away at it and watch it mice down.
I have an app called weight diary that shows the category’s clearly.
Have a give day today.
Hi Audrey
Non fast day for me xx
Ginette
Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours.
A rainy March 1 here today. Hope the sun peeps through later.
So pleased to say I have lost 2lbs this week. A pound I had put on and another. So my best weight loss now so far.
No wine has obviously paid off and has also stopped the munchies in the evening. Thrilled to say the least.
Hi Gine .. what a shame Pam is not well. It is so hard when they smoke.. nothing you can do or say.
You have done so very well G and your support in kindness and good advice to others.. shows no bounds. Thank you. Xx
KT We are all willing you to have strength to cope with everything at the moment.
You are strong ..you prove it daily.. we are always here for you.
Have a good FD today and be kind to you. Xx
Hi Aud .. hope all goes well at the clinic for Mum. Xx
Yes, save yourself cal wise for the girls night tomorrow. Such precious times. Like my Mum bet your Mum just loves being with you all.
Have a good day Aud and our love to Mum. Xx
Have a good day one and all whatever you are doing … try to pop in and share. Xx
Brit Lovelies… What a wonderful thought it is that .. The best days of our lives.. Haven’t happened yet. Xx
Morning All,
A very wet day for us, we are joining you today Hemmy and KT fasting. Instead of a salad we are going with 2 boiled eggs and me 1 or hubby 2 slices of toast. As a few of you have different things but within the calorie limits. We will give it a try.
Hemmy…..good luck on in weigh in today..strange for us fasting today..
Ginette….hoping Pam starts to feel better and gets her antibiotics. Hubby is the same with his chest a cold and it’s doctors.
As with the smoking…my Dad had bad lungs had a cylinder of oxygen by his side and housebound..still smoking and a tot of rum a day. A new Doctor told him to stop..he looked so sad over a few weeks..I said I thought he was cruel at someone who was 70 smoking all his life was too late to stop when so ill…he started again…he had no life but fags and his rum! He enjoyed them before he died a few months later!
Victoria……don’t fret it sounds like a really good weekend..just contine as usual it will pull back…it’s a WOL..
Audrey……sounds like you are up and running again, really pleased…have a good night out this evening..
KP……it’s a worrying time take it steady and try to keep with your FD’s…even if you hold your own that would be good…
All for now..have good FD or NFD everybody..
Jean
Hi everyone! Seems like an active feed, I just needed to chat and share my plans and perhaps get some general advice.
I am getting married on July 10th and I want to lose a stone, I always try and do slimming world but can never keep it up! So I started on my first fast day yesterday and I woke up this morning feeling great. I am 26, about 5 foot 2 and weigh 10 stone.
I am wondering if I have a ‘cheat day’ at weekends (with chocolate and wine) if I will ruin all my hard work during the week? I am doing two fast days and trying to stay under 1500 calories on my other days during the week.
Thanks everyone
Paula
Paula,
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your Wedding.
First I would go to your TDEE..which is top right hand side of the forum page and see how much you can eat on a non fast day, I think 1500 could be a bit high.
Keep a note of your weekly weight…..measure your neck, bust, waist, hips and top of legs do that once a month. See your fat melt away!
If you are fasting say Monday and Thursday, I would eat down to about 1200 calories on Tuesday and Wednesday, no naughties, no alcohol. Then at the weekend have a FEW treats, a couple glasses of wine, a Sunday dinner, an odd small chocolate bar if you must. You will find your tummy shrinks and your tastes change, you may have a day what doesn’t go to plan but draw a line tomorrow is another day.
Fasting gets easier after a couple of weeks keep busy and drink plenty of water.
A stone is very do-able for your July wedding, even more, a bit of excerise is good if you can. After the first week of a few pounds off it settles at a pound a week with a bit of excerise you could do 2lbs.
Lots of help on here, we all do it a bit different as a few of us have been doing it awhile and tweaked it to suit ourselves. Maybe follow Michael Mosley book to start with and see how you go it will get you in the right mode.
Good Luck and keep popping in for support
Jean x
Aww Thanks SYM Xx
As you said you are having eggs today… Scrambled is lovely with a slice of toast .. cut into 4 triangles it looks more. Lolol A piece of fruit after is good Its my favourite for FD at the moment. Making up with cup of soup or milky coffee. Have a good Day both. Xx
Just off walking in the rain. Lol Xx
Hi everyone! I’m 65, started at 12 stone and have lost 6lbs and 5.5″ from my waist in the first month, but now I’m struggling a little, just losing a pound a week. Aiming to make 9.5 stone eventually, but I’d be happy with 10 stone. I’ve been reading all your posts, and I’m amazed at your perseverance and determination. I play bowls regularly, but knee problems mean I can’t do vigorous exercise. Any tips would be more than welcome!
Hemmy,
Of all the eggs I love I can’t do scrambled so boiled eggs with soldiers for us!
Just walking in the rain eh…splashing in the puddles! I can see you now..Mr Pips in his coat being pulled? Enjoy your walk don’t get too wet…may take Merlot later if sun comes out!
I have had a beauty morning all hair roots covered, out yesterday nearly died when I got my eye lense in everything grows bigger!…. don’t wear them much. Nearly beautiful now! π Lol
Hubby bunting calories in the garage working on his bike…off for some milk…burn some walking calories in Morrisons up and down the isles. See how many steps?
All well on the fasting here
Jean X
Hi everyone
Welcome to the newcomers….
Rose a pound a week is average I know it’s not a lot but over 3 months it’s almost a stone….
Paula. I think the others have covered what u need to do. Stick with us u will get there ready for your wedding. That’s a bride n groom to be we have collected now….
Mums leg is looking better ……Have a good day
Talk again soon
Audrey
Hi Audrey
Yes it’s not easy fasting when with family. Pam gets a bit cross as she has often forgotten and cooked something. Thanks for the good wishes for her. I’m glad to hear that your Mums leg is on the mend.
Hemmy
How brilliant!! Well done and at last on the downward trend. I am just the same as I weighed this morning. Still nothing gained, that really helps.
Hi Jean
I am lucky that I can eat eggs in anyway. Mine is usually fried with butter fry light or omelette. If everyday that it rained we did a fast day, think how many we would do. π
I’m with you though. Salads and winter don’t go together apart from a bit of salad in a sandwich.
Hi BTB
You can do that without too many problems. There are a lot of us who used to go to slimming world. I love the recipes but I think they need to be calorie counted.
When you check the TDEE bear in mine that this is what it is calculated that you expend everyday. You need less than this to lose. The TDEE always seemed high to me on this site. I think a more relistic amount is on My fitness Pal.
You have been given some good advice here. So I won’t repeat it. Plenty of support here as well.
Hi Rose
You have come to the right place. It’s nice to be able to share with people that understand. This is a very achievable amount to lose. It sounds as if it was going well but has now slowed a little. This is bound to happen but as Audrey says it all mounts up.
Stay with it. It is a jog not a sprint. The most important thing is that you get there.
Ginette
Hi Rose and welcome.
As you can see lots of people here that will give you all the support you need.
Tips.. recipes .. advice.. everything shared here… other than any of our 500 cals on Fast days. Lol
Interesting you like bowls… Do you mean on the green and indoor bowls.
My first husband loved them… Played for the local small town plus the County. Remember having to make up a little tea for the away player at cup times. I still have his woods although he passed over 30yrs ago.
You can do this Rose we will help you. Xx
Aud .. glad your Mums leg is going the right way. Xx
Hi Sym Love boiled eggs and soldiers too. .. Hope you are getting lots of steps in today. Plus hope your virtual Dog Merlot is behaving in Morrison’s and not purchasing any of his namesake. Lolol Xx
Gine.. yes, nice to be on the move again. The thing is though it will probably yoyo again next week as Kristy is home from Fri-Sun which means Food .. Treats and wine. lol
I am finding it so much easier on my own food and drink wise. I have Mum most week-ends.. she keeps a good weight and quite strict with herself even at her age.
Just have to watch my portions this week-end…
Glad you are maintaining.. it looks like when we have been doing it a while its a bit fits and starts so to speak. That’s okay though as we are not in a rush. Doing it gently it will stay off and no pressure.. to eat a very limited amount.. which would be impossible to live with .
Hope you are enjoying your day G. Xx
Morning all,
Hope you are all o.k. it is rather quiet on here, not sure if that’s good or bad news?
I am trying to be good here at mums weighing and measuring everything, but tonight we are out for a carvery then Friday it’s fish n chips before the trip down the m6 home. ….
I am intending to fast up until the meal tonight do a fast day tomorrow and then carry the fast on until tea time on friday. ..it’s going to be hard I know so any support will be welcomed. ..
How is everyone else doing?
Keep in touch together we are stronger. …
Audrey
gosh Audrey, that is hard work when going out with people
I think anything you manage will be great!
I managed my fast day, just, yesterday, so have just enjoyed my lovely oatibix this morning, yum
next fd not until Friday, so we shall see
weighed on mums scales yesterday, which are very different to mine, and I was about half a stone heavier
omg I hope they are lying!!
Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours.
A very cold and chilly morning.. at least sunshine.
Hi Aud you are doing so well at your Mums weighing stuff out. It would be very easy to just sit back and not bother. Being the very brave determined woman you are though that’s not going to happen.
Enjoy the carvery .. at least you can control amount and choice. Have a lovely time Aud you deserve it. Xx Love to Mum. Xx
Hi KT sounds like its going well…. those scales are probably out. Well done on yesterdays fast. Xx
Hi Sym .. time for Merlots walkies. Lol Xx
I am trying so hard too keep those 2lbs off I lost this week.
Hope everyone’s doing ok … enjoy your day whatever you are doing.
Brit lovelies … The things we take for granted .. Someone else is praying for Xx
Good Morning Brits,
A late start up for this chilly damp morning, expected to see some snow laying but not as yet.
We both had a good FD yesterday. I find it so hard on our wrong day hoping it doesn’t upset our weigh in on Friday. I did get to my 10,500 steps which I didn’t reach at all last week. Hoping to try and work at it for a two or three weeks see if it changes the scales better …if not I shall just go with the usual flow.
Audrey …..you do so well, keeping up the fasting and weighing food while away..enjoy your meal also the fish and chips…you know how much we like them π safe journey home.
KP…..I wouldn’t worry on the scales as they are all so different, just weigh on yours when you return home….you may have a surprise…you seem positive..
Hemmy…. I am sure you will be fine, 2 lb off was a good result…another 1 lb this week? For us both!
Ginette …hope all is going well for you and Pams feeling better..
Victoria…how are you doing?? After your busy weekend..
Karen…hoping you are having lots of hot wine on the slopes….enjoy….you should be on your home soon..back on board..
Lots missing …are you all feeling positive and fasting…or need help…come back in for a chat..
Off for a shower as Merlot needs a walk before the snow arrives!!
Jean X
Hi guys
Is pleased to announce that the ZIIIIIIIIPER went up last night must stay focus as I want to be able to sit down comfortably so 1/2 stone should do it.
Hubby was amazed as I’ve lost 4in to get the zip together.
FD today for me going to stay on 3 a week.
Was like a drowned rat this morning in this weather not quite done my 10,000 yet but hopefully will get there.
Lynda
Lynda,
So pleased to hear the zip has gone up. When is the wedding about three weeks? Half a stone will make it more comfy…
Do you get in 10,000 steps in every day and do you think it helps?
I am trying to make the effort on 10.000 steps but it’s hard going for me as my feet are not good..but holding up at the moment. Just been out with hubby but he doesn’t walk as quick as me so I will have to go out later on my own! I like him to do some but again his knees are not good. Two oldies now!! Not nice!
Jean x
Lynda, as I said on fast friends. …well done you have been fantastic, just don’t be like me and let is all slip after the wedding…..but congratulations again.
Jean, I try to do my 10,000 steps a day I think it is helping my mobility but it is easier on the treadmill you don’t have to face the elements. … I ran on the spot today for 60 mins. ..split into 2 sessions to get mine in plus walking round n round the house….
Plainy, vet and bride to be. ..are you doing o.k. keep in touch it’s easier if you do we can give you support. ..Rose are you ok and settling in with us?
Really Hungry now, ready for carvery tonight as long as the snow stops…..
Audrey
Hi all, got mega pmt and think i may have aquired Linda’s 4 inches. Feeling a bit rudderless, havent excatly fallen of the wagon but definitely lost oomph. Stu has come off prozac ( its been a good 20 years) and has changed to a newer SSRI. The down side is its raised his seizure threshold. Put the Pebbell2 tracker thingy to the test as I lost him in M&S and he had a stress induced seizure. This wee gadget looks like its worth its weight in gold. Body image all over the placeπ.
We now have a fully tiled down stairs hallway (yay, looks great).
Audrey what happened with Mum? Ginette,Hemmy,Melina,Symba and KT hope you are all ok
Hi cc
Our posts crossed, sorry stu isn’t too clever again, such a worry!
Mum got on great at the leg clinic thanks for asking it is almost healed, it’s taken ages and a lot of worrying but I think the end is almost here! I couldn’t believe the difference it looks fantastic to how it was.
We had the physiotherapists here today, she gave her a good workout. …I jogged along on the spot for support. …. we are both ready for our food now. ….
Audrey
Audrey…I walk on the spot if I need to bring them up a bit, I think it’s harder than walking outside, I must put more effort in..inside. Only at 4000 today need to get moving later! enjoy tonight X
Celtic…Hallway sounds very nice much easier to keep clean. Poor Stu he is very much in the wars you must be so worried …it’s good the tracker is working it takes the pressure off. X
