Morning all
Eyes on stalks after a really busy weekend. No day off for once as I had the big Assmebly Friday evenign into Saturday. All on tech – they did an amazing job, but very tiring following and contributing to a debate in E’burgh with 700 other people all over Scotland. Finished about 7ish, bought pizza for the boys and crashed! Got a colleague to do the early zoom service for me, while I got my head into gear for the main stuff. Quick soup out with the boys, and then getting ready for the ‘in person’ service int he afternoon – just lovely…such a calm and peacful place. Quick trip to Tesco, OH cooked a stir fry, and then back on Zoom for a study group. Manic but satisfying weekend.
I think I’ll have a quiet day today, and just phone people to see how everyone is. Just had a text from OH to say my electric bike is arriving, so I need to stay in anyway!
Jean – so glad you had a lovely weekend. Difficult for Steve’s daughters noticing how hard it is for him just now…it’s often a shock if you’re away from someone for a while. You and he are handling things so well. As they say to new mum’s, though, sleep whenever you can, even if it’s short naps. Know we love you.
Dave – Good to be reminded of how far you’ve come…and impressed by your target for Chrstimas. Ultrasound? Concerned they’ll find out you’re pregnant?!
HH – cleaning ovens is one of my pet hates, too…especially low down ovens.
HI Emmz – lovely to have you on board. 2lbs is a great start. Not going to give you advice, cos it would be a ‘do as I say not say I do’ kind of moment just now! But keep at it.
Mx
Minols I look pregnant π².The place where I go for the ultrasound is like the Mount Everest of infection, it’s south Manchester.Loads of students around so an high percentage of them have covid. Not looking forward to going but it’s got to be done. Another sunny day here yet again. Fast day today only had 1 cuppa so fingers crossed I will be under 800 calories.
Afternoon!
Jean- hope maybe you can fit a day out in, hugs to you both…
Minols- that does sound like a manic weekend! Glad that you have a quiet day today!
Dave- the bowling sounded good! & will be interesting to see how the beef turns out another time!
Had a lie-in until 7am today! Cooked breakfast for both the boys- one on late & the other off- so didn’t take Xena out until later. Avoided rain thankfully- coat’s still damp from yesterday!
Have offered to see mum if she needs it, but hopefully she’ll see a friend, she always gets down on Mondays. Doing a steak pie for the men, & I’ll have a stir fry tonight, doing an 800cal FD.
Morning All..
Bright day quite nice walking…I really wanted to be out early but sorting Steve out takes time it was 9 before I got to the park…
He is not well enough to go to Bridlington quite worrying how he is going down hill, he is really struggling with his breathing.
We need to see a solicitor but no appointments till next Tuesday…
Minols..
What a busy person you are…quite exciting getting a electric bike that will help you look after your flock easier…er not so many calories burnt!!
Dave..
I would hate drinking water like that….good luck on the water and scan….
Hedgehog…
No day out for us………nice to get a lie in for you and a dry walk….kitchen open all hours as usual…steak pie Steve will be round he loves pies.
No fasting for me…
Jean x
Evening everyone, was intent on starting back into 5:2 today after a weeks holiday and a 3Ib gain showing on the scales, however,we had a delivery of an afternoon tea for two delivered so FD will now be tomorrow instead.
Weather here has been awful today so not had our usual daily constitutional walk.
Dave hope scan goes well tomorrow for you.
Jean also hope that nurses visit proves helpful tomorrow.
Hope everyone else is keeping okay and enjoy the rest of your evening and stay safe.
Nana x
Evening!
Jean- I’d love to cook Steve a steak pie!A bit far to come for dinner though…A shame you couldn’t go out today, hope the nurse is as helpful as your other one.
Nana- nice to have the afternoon tea, you are being spoilt π!
Minols- the electric bike will be fun, hope it came today π
Dave- hope your FDs gone okay…
I have been so hungry today, don’t know why, been busy too. Was hoping to do Mon-Fri 800cals, but not going to manage that if I’m as hungry tomorrow π¬
We’ve actually all been here for dinner tonight, first time we’ve all sat together for a bit! Luckily youngest’s friend has had a negative covid test, youngest had seen him a couple of days before he was ill. Eldest not heard anything after the message on the app. Youngest has a new court date- not until Jan next year.
Morning all
No bike, yet, HH – the parcel was the rack for the back! Just had a text from OH thought to say another parcel expected this afternoon…we’ll see.
Just at church opening up for personal prayer this mornign…it’s such an amazing, still place. Although if someone else is around to monitor it, I may duck into a corner with my laptap for a zoominar I want to go to, with my headphones on. One of the amazing things about this is we know now how to get a whole load of ministers together to talk things through…without anyof us having to leave the comfort of our own places! Hard to remember that we didn’t seem to know how to do that before!
Just remembered…need to email the school as the boy came home with only one trainer in his bag the other day – ‘I looked everywhere, it’s gone, no-one will have been able to find it’…yeah yeah…let’s just see if a cleaner has spotted it! How he thinks it’s disappeared without a trace I don’t know!
Mx
Morning all!
Minols- Mum’s naughty vicar opens their Church up for ‘private prayer’, but they have a coffee morning, there’s some very lonely people who need it! Hope yours is quieter! Hope your son finds his trainer!
Dave- hope the scan goes okay today…been a long wait!
Jean- hope Steve is up to a little outing today, & that his nurse is helpful!
Had a good long walk with Xena, the rain had stopped by the time we went out. Aiming for another 800 day today, still a bit hungry!
Morning All…
We managed to get Steve on his buggy for two rounds of the park before the rain started I continued on to get wet…just nice to get some fresh air and out of the 4 walls for him, Charlie was so fussy he joined us, he keeps being sad itβs as if he knows something is happening..
The cancer nurse is coming at 2 pm to have a deeper chat about things, a lot of people are being fluffy and not answering questions..heβs having lots of tablets from 4 different areas he wants to know what they are all for…GP telephone call tonight, we thought he had missed us the other day we must of have got the day wrong, thatβs about tablets too..
Nana..
Looks as if you have to hold out until all these nice things stop arriving…itβs strange I am not fasting lots of time to start at a later time..
Dave..
Good luck on your scan today and all goes well and you get some answers..
Hedgehog..
A long time to wait for sons court case….a full nest for dinner last night, lovely…Laughed at mums naughty vicar…
Minols..
Letβs hope the trainer turns up…these children can cost a fortune …enjoy your quiet time in church…you will be excited when the bike arrives.
Mel..
Hope your breaks going well and the weather is a bit better today.
Have a good day…raining hard now here….
Jean x
Evening everyone, am pleased to report that I have completed a FD today coming in at 650 calories.
Weather was nice and sunny first thing so managed to get my washing on the line outside to dry before the heavy rain came in the afternoon.
Mel hope the weather’s been better for you today.
Visit to daughters tomorrow morning looking forward to that.
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone and stay safe.
Nana x
Evening!
Jean- you’re being so brave, & right to need all the info, surprised if the medical teams are being fluffy, they’re usually blunt…glad Steve got out for a bit & hope you get the answers you need x
Dave- glad the scan was okay, they probably wouldn’t say if they saw anything. Maybe a CT or colonoscopy π± next.
Nana- well done with your FD, have a nice visit with your daughter tomorrow!
I’ve bought icing & planned a special cake for hubby’s birthday, he doesn’t want lots of fuss & just wants a small chocolate cake π I was looking forward to making a licquorice all sorts cake- not the sweets on it but little cakes decorated like them…very cross, but as he says, who’s birthday is it?!! I guess it’s not like we can have a do or anything, but would’ve given some away to family.
FD gone okay, just under 800 cals, but kitchen’s open until 9pm tonight!
Morning All…
A bright day…a village and river walk….
Dentist for me this morning, checkup and hygienist, blood test for Steve pm….
Our computer was updated and he took everything off and he couldnβt transfer it over as it was so bad, we are struggling now to use it. Steves head isnβt in the faffing mode, may take it back and see if he can help us.
Nana..
Enjoy visiting your daughter today…
Dave..
I am sure the doctor will speak to you and see were you go from here…
Hedgehog..
The nurse was saying.. they do it slowly as people donβt take it on board, some people just donβt want to know. Gives you enough to process it, then ask questions if you want to know. She answered everything we asked, GP rang us later and we had some questions to ask him which she didnβt know the answers too, as he had the scans In front of him. The cancer is in both of his lungs and liver both quite extensive, so not very good at all. Lung cancer is the worse of them all as it effects breathing.
Have a good day planning the birthday cake, something different to do…Hope you have a snooze later after no sleep last night
Mel..
Looks like you are having a good break.
Jean x
Afternoon!
Jean- hope you can get the computer sorted, they are frustrating things! Spent ages last night trying to find a photo to upload, knew it was on there, but it was hiding from me π I’m glad that the doctors & nurses are being up front with you, yes, not everyone can face it. MIL wouldn’t, so had nothing prepared. You are being so brave & strong, hats off to you πͺ Hope that the dentist was okay…
Hope everyone else is okay?
Had a terrible night, couldn’t get to sleep properly, good up at 12.30 in the end, didn’t even manage a doze downstairs! Was out with Xena at 7am, it was a beautiful morning. Made the most of a dry day to take up all the veggies & dig over the beds, have made some keto biscuits, need some comfort food today! Will have a nap in a bit!
Morning all!
A better night’s sleep, thankfully!
Back to an 800cal FD, although I feel like Dave always says- getting in the holiday mode, we don’t go til Tuesday though & only for 3 nights! Have an asda order coming, but realised I’ve planned everyone elses’s meals, & forgot to get anything for me tonight! So it’ll probably be an omelette π
Hope everyone has a good day x
Evening All…
Days are very heavy and sad for us, I am definitely not strong…my heart beat is up and feeling breathless the nurse says thatβs normal, a bit of anxiety and feeling Steves pain…
I have had a more lazy day but is it a good idea..Looks like the motorbike is sold the guy is coming Saturday. Steve will be so upset he has always had a motorbike from 8 years old.
Hedgehog..
I havenβt been on the computer today, I will have a go or shout on Dave to help when I feel like it…all well at the dentist, hair cut tomorrow…
Where are you going on your break?…I am wondering if I could go with Charlie on my own! a good idea or not.. maybe think at a later date…Enjoy your omelette tonight..
Nana..
So annoying lost posts no idea why it happens….Hope your sisters feeling better.
Dave..
Our static was cold had the old fashioned damp feeling, drying clothes in front of fire before putting them on….our own caravan was triple glazed and central heating so very different from the static.
Jean x
Evening everyone, been a miserable day weather wise again here but managed my FD but I was very hungry and cold as usual but I also had a horrible headache which cleared once I’d eaten my evening meal.
Jean feel so bad for you at the momentπ
Thank you for asking after my sister she’s feeling much better today but the antibiotics are upsetting her stomach. Glad the dentist appointment went well.
Hedgehogs not long until you go away. Where is it your off to this time.
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone and stay safe.
Nana x
Evening!
Jean- sending you hugs, so tough for you, don’t know what else to say π’ But I think you are strong xx
Dave- yes, sir! Will do 800 cals tomorrow & Sunday, maybe a day off Saturday! Of course the hot water bottle will come with me π
Nana- well done with your FD! Glad your sister’s improving, there are other broad spectrum antibiotics she could have if they’re upsetting her stomach- I get that with some antibiotics.
Minols- you’ve gone quiet, busy again?
FD gone okay today, despite kitchen being open until 9pm. We’re going to Cromer, staying at the lovely apartment we stayed in in Feb, just 3 nights. Hair cut & colour for me tomorrow too.
Hi all
Time to at least plan to get back on the wagon!
Im in danger of undoing all my hard work again π‘
I know this way of life works, but only if you stick to it. Like all diets I guess.
A holiday let clean today and a zoom chat this evening. Thats the only socialising we do now! Thank goodness for technology.
Will try and start posting again..

HI All
Trainer vound – beneath the boy’s peg!!!
Bike arrived – FAB! Very big, and I need to get some big paniers so I can start doing the Tesco shop on it, but loving being out and about in it. It’s got big fat tyres, and a frame that looks like scaffolding, so I feel very safe on it!
Jean – glad they’re giving you the info when you ask. They are right about not taking everything in, though, so they will be brilliant if you find yourselves asking the same things several times…they know it takes a while to stash things in an orderly fashion in your brain and make the connections you need so you’re not putting arms and legs on things…and by you, I don’t mean ‘you’, Jean, but ‘one’…I just always feel a bit Queenie using ‘one’!
I’ve been pretty good this week, and hopefully being out on the bike will help, so relaxing a little bit today…but tonight’s takeaway will still be a salad.
HH – it’s hard knowing a holiday is coming…I finish at 9pm for two weeks and I can barely sit still! But I have some writing due the day I start back, so if I don’t knuckle down and do it today and/or Sunday, I’ll have to ‘take it away’ with me…all the way to the sweing end of my study which is where I’m stay-cationing!
Off into the Sanctuary for some peaceful praying…cold in there today, but the light is beautiful!
Mx
Minols you always make me smile the way you say things.Sunny here at the moment but showers predicted so I will have a cuppa then take Heidi out. I have to ring the doctor on Wednesday at 8amπ±π±.I got the results of my scan and it is a cyst on my kidney so they said nothing needs doing. So I sent them an email asking about why I got in touch with them original for the pain I am in. That’s what they told me call at 8amπ±π± to make yet another telephone appointment ππ«.So I am trying s different doctor this time.
Afternoon!
Minols- enjoy your staycation! Glad that the bike is good, will be easier going up the hills…is your son off for 2 weeks as well?
Dave- hope you don’t get wet walking Heidi! So frustrating with the delays on doctors appts etc, I hope that you get somewhere next week.
Kay- nice to have you back on board!! Did you say you were going to retire at the end of the holiday season?
A lovely bright walk with Xena, then got out in the garden while it was nice. Got to take Mum for her flu jab soon, will maybe take her to a garden centre too.
HH – boy is off for two weeks, too, and SOOO happy!
OH has spent the morning adapting an old frame for some simple but large panniers, and now he’s sprayed it it looks really smart. Might try a Tesco shop later.
Off to the butchers, before I set the household chores for the boy. I’m going to do a little bit of work todayk, even though it’s officially a day off, so that when I finish tomorrow at the end of the day, I really can finish!
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Mx
Minols, hope you get your writing done so you can officially switch off at the end of tomorrow.
Dave, hope the gp agrees to pursue things further. Colonoscopy next I would have thought π¬
Jean, thinking of you both…quiet today x
HH, Yes Im looking at retiring, or least cutting back to just a few hours a week. Its quiet season now although there will still be Bovis new build cleans, which I dont mind. My endowment has matured and paid out but with the interest rate on savings being so rubbish its not as though I can put it away and make it earn money, so it is unlikely to last until my pension!
Neil home and we off to take Tara to the field x
Heidi’s had her walks for today, shoes off so can relax. My cousin as been taking to me via Facebook, not seen him for a long time and blow me we went shopping in Sainsbury’s yesterday and we walked straight into him π.He collects vinyl records, he was asking me if I had the Beatles white album and Jethro Tull thick as a brick. I have both. The Tull album could be worth Β£150 and I forget what the Beatles is worth. He told me to put an app on my phone to check them.
Kay- enjoy lettung Tara have a run on the field, hope it stays dry! Interest rates are rubbish now, barely worth keeping it in the bank!
Dave- how funny bumping into your cousin like that! Mine are all miles away…
Minols- hope you get all the writing done, & son enjoys his time off! Very creative with the panniers!
Mum got her jab, there were some very tetchy old men in the queue moaning & swearing about it! Then did a bit of shopping, Mum said she needs to cut down, then bought chocolate, custard tarts & some other puds π The garden centre was successful too, but got a heavy sack of bark for her, when we carried it round to the back the heavens opened & we had to run indoors, then when I went to go home realised I’d left the boot open the whole time π±π± who’s got dementia?! Luckily Xena’s towels were in the back & soaked alot up! Shan’t tell hubby about that!!
Evening everyone, been a horrible rainy day again and if it was as heavy for you as here Hedgehogs I can imagine the amount of water in the boot.
Minols enjoy your break.
Kay daughter is trying to find somewhere secure to take Poppy as she wants to train her up more on recall.
Dave a long time to wait again hopefully a different Dr will get you sorted.
Wonder what we’ll hear from Boris on Monday.
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone and stay safe.
Nana x
Loving having a bike that is easy to ride again!
Brought it down to church this morning just so I can ride up the hill into town on it and meet the boys for lunch later…such a child with a new toy! Don’t know that I’ll get any fitter, but at least it keeps my knees moving. And I don’t use too much power assistance – honest! (alright, up hill it’s pretty much all power assistance, but at least my knees are still moving – if I don’t pedal, it grinds to a halt!)
Mx
I could do with a bike like yours Minols, it’s a long time since I had a bike. Another sunny day here again, could get used to it. Bowling at 12 possibly teaching some new people to bowl and see if they like it, then playing at 1-30pm in a team game, just amongst members of the bowling club. It’s usually 2 men and 4 women. My son and I are in the same team so I suppose or team is the weakest. We have played 3 and lost them all the first by 1 point the second by 2 points and last week by 9 points. That takes everybody’s point and adds then all together.Time to take Heidi out.
Oh Jean I feel devastated for you. xx
It all happened so quickly. π
Peaceful for Steve, and where he wanted to be and I can only hope you can take a tiny bit of comfort from that in otherwise such tragic times.
Its weird how we feel like a little family on here and we all feel your loss and want to help you, but in truth, sadly there is nothing we can do.
But if there is, you can count on us. We are here. Even when you dont want to talk, we are thinking about you.
Hugs to you and cuddles for Charlie xx
Well done Kay.I am on my second cup of tea, no food though. I am hoping for 800/900 calories today π€.74 days until Christmas so 73 days until my weight-in.The scales will remain out of sight until then. How’s the bike Minols, hope your not saddle sore π΅.Rain today, not used to it but I have a feeling it will be around more and more.
