  • Hi all, hi to all the peeps,
I think I said I had decided to change our FD for Monday Thursday to Sunday Wednesday. This is mainly so that it’s easier to see friends…since winter arrived I’ve found FD harder feeling a bit blood sugar low wobbly. ..I dont like driving longer distances if I feel like that, so Sundays and Wednesdays make better sense. Stuart forgot we had changed on Sunday and I thought if I don’t stick to the new days he will never remember so only one FD for us this week.
We were out visiting friends today so a couple of small slices of cake. 75g of pasta and aubergine pesto ( can’t believe we used to eat 100g pasta each as per serving suggestion on packet) if we are having quorn bologenese or loads of veg then we usually only have 50g pasta each. After the pasta we had a smoothie… kiwi ,apple, celery, celery seeds, tomato, spinach ,romaine lettuce, cuecumber, pumpkin seeds and walnut. Mug full each..very filling. Very pleased to have bought the nutri ninja. Tomorrow will be oats, seeds, nuts, frozen berries spinach and banana as a very late breakfast so Stu doesnt feel hungry during the Tai Chi class. Had been feeling hugely PMT, bloated, huge etc . Got on scales last night fearing a half stone plus gain…. glad to say only 2 lb . So 13st 11 😊

Other thing to report re smoothies…. we haven’t had anything that hasn’t tasted lovely yet.It really is such an easy way of getting a huge stack of fruit and veg on board with no effort and leaves you feeling full. JL have offer on until end of month I think.

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

    Another very cold frosty day.

Yay all these lovely posts… lots of good tips and suggestions … how wonderful it is to share. xx

Quickie this morning as off visiting and a longer drive than normal. Like you CC like to be in my comfort zone. Well done with your scales result.

Hope all our Brit lovelies have a good day whether FD or normal dont forget to keep it mindful.

Dont wait to reach your goal to be proud of yourself… Be proud of each and every little step taken towards reaching your goal Xx

Welcome Victorious as you see lots of good advice and support here . Keep us updated how you are doing … you will soon b eat home. Xx

    Morning all

Ian is back in work tonight and I haven’t put any weight on whilst he has been off this time…big cheer for me! It’s looking good for a big loss this week….

Milena I am ready for tomorrow are you?

Have a great day everybody I am busy cooking a big pan of pea, ham and vegetable soup…..my favourite yummy

    Audrey

Yay aud… all guns blazing there girl. I am sooo thrilled to see our girl back in …at it and painfree.
A big loss for you this week if there is any justice. Xx

    Morning All,

A lazy start after visiting family yesterday. We must own up to some choccies last night, we don’t usually in the week but there was a need 😅 They were very nice.

A bright blue sky day in the NE but it will be cold. Food shopping later for us..

Nice to hear from you CC, these shakes do sound nice…I get so fed up with tea, I love coffee but not good for my waterworks! I do have sneaky one when out as a treat!

Audrey…scales looking good…I am holding my own at moment…

Hemmy…have a nice day visiting, take care..

Have a good day everybody…be mindful

    Jean x

Symba, just had okays smoothie breakfast. Was more quantity than usual as added some 70°c water to take chill off the frozen berries. It was frozen blackberries, blueberry, cherry, grape( waitrose black forest fruits) spinach, soaked oats, soaked pumpkin, soaked walnuts, russet apple, frozen banana satsuma, filtered water and cinnamon. Came out interesting mid pink colour, tasted quite creamy and very nice and filling. We had about 3/4 pint each and should get through an hour of tai chi, haddock chowder with about 10 veg thrown in for tea tonight. Cold dry and bright here in Cromer.

    Hi Celtic,

After I read your post, I did a banana, milk, oat and ice smoothie for lunch…a nice change. I haven’t got what you have but a small bullet type thing…it does need replacing its passed its best! 😀

I think of you I think of my crabs….. Ha ha

    Jean X

After the past 3 fast days I seem to find I wake in the early hours, like I often do, but am very very unsettled and restless – not wide awake, just like twitchy and it takes me ages to get back to sleep
    anyone had anything similar?

    Hi all,

    CelticCrow the smoothie sounded fab…

Hemmy, yes I am feeling ok at the min, started to work out now too!

Jean, chocolate during the week fish n chips, what’s happening to you hehe I think you are rebelling haha….

    Keep trying

Yes I often wake up during the night too, never gave it much thought though, perhaps a side effect?

Everyone else hope you are having a great day, I have had my soup was delicious. …. ready for 2 fast days now, let’s melt those pounds away milena!

    Together we are stronger

    Audrey

Keeptrying…I never sleep after the FD..very restless….we have a glass of milk which used to help but I must say I lay there thinking yes FD again……although I am up to the loo also……most annoying..

I must admit to the return of hot night flushes too, apparently as your fat cells decrease in size, as you loose weight …..it imbalances your oestragen and progesterone which collects in the fat cells….so that’s fun too.

Then of course your clothes get too loose…and that’s annoying too….it’s as bad as pulling all the time! At least you can buy new!

What we all have to go through…..

Good luck on Thursday and Friday FD….Audrey and Milena

Audrey …I think hubbys rebelling…hoping for a loss from him this week…😇 Bless…..he’s very trying!

    Xx

    Hi Celtic

I’m glad to see that you are really enjoying the smoothies. If tge weather is cold tge sun still helps us feel better.

    Hi Hemmy

I had a fast day today and had a sandwich tonight. Unusual that but my son kept me busy all day and I didn’t get home until late.

    Hi Jean

If you aren’t losing don’t despair. Try not to gain and the losses will soon start. I too have half a portion of fish and chips as a treat about every three weeks. We share a large fish and small chips. I get pensioners one for Pam but there is enough for both of us. This way I am not greedy with the chips.

    Hi Keeptrying

I sympathise as I have bad nights although ok when I eventually get to sleep. Maybe a hot milky drink? Paul McKenna helps me when it is bad.

    Hi Audrey

Well done on the exercise. I’m not in the mood for that yet. I am sure it will come though.

Welcome to you victorious. I must have missed your post.

    Ginette

    Morning all,

It’s a very frosty morning here, hope you are all safe and warm.

I am ready for my b2b fasts, my soup was made yesterday so it’s ready for my meal tomorrow which seems a long way away….

Ginette when you are ready I will exercise with you on the wii again, I have started boxing again …..

Jean I have been having hot flushes and night sweats again but I thought it was because I had gained weight again over Xmas? Perhaps not then….

Milena hope you are ready for today will be in touch later.

Hemmy think I posted before you this morning. ..

Keep trying and celtic, hope you are both ok?

Have a great day people, sorry if I have missed mentioning anyone it’s a bit early yet!
    Audrey

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

A frosty start here again but hopefully warming up tomorrow.

Another busy day out today… two days in a row is unusual for me. Means earlier dog walks… and of course its wet and muddy. Lol

Hope everyone is doing well .. lots of lovely posts will catch up later.

FD for me today weigh tomorrow. So far so good. Lol Good luck Aud and Milena with your liquids. Good luck everyone whatever you are doing today.

Take care and keep warm and cosy Brit Lovelies.

Never give up on a dream.. just because of the time it will take to accomplish.
The time will past anyway. Xx

    Hi Audrey

all ready, I have most of a roast chicken left from last nights meal, so pulling it apart – my boys can have sandwiches and a there is some chicken and chorizo and tomato sauce left for a pasta dish for them, and I can make stock from chicken carcase.

Liquid today, so if I’m toiling I can have some of the chicken stock – but I’ll be making soup for tomorrow. I’ve fizzy water and lemon too, and plenty of ice cubes – and the water out of the tap is particularly nice this time of the year – really cold. We are in a very soft water area so I am very lucky.

I’ll keep popping in to keep you company, but only 32 hours to go til tomorrow teatime – so keeping busy working!

Ginette, just read your comment about my holiday – the food was only ok, though the chalet girl was a rather cute bloke!!! We did go into Italy one day and found a restaurant which was nothing more than someone’s front room and had a lovely meal of 4 or 5 different pastas. My idea of an ideal holiday would be to spend a week in the Louvre – can’t imagine many folk putting that on their wish list!

Hemmy, lovely sentiment, put a spring in my step this morning, thank you!

Everyone else, have a great day – especially if its your fast day.

Not lost anything yet, and that’s after 3 fast days – quite usual for me, it seems to come off all at once – will be interesting to see what the weekend brings.

To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive, and the true success is to labour

    Hi Brits,

Very frosty morning here -5 last night! Off food shopping today keeping ourselves busy and on the move as its our FD.

Ginette …I feel as I am on the ball, I am usually a one pound a week girl it comes off slowly but usually every week…Hubby I am concerned about, he is good but not loosing..I think he will focus more after the holiday…I noticed he had his bedtime whiskey in his hand last night although it is a FD today…I ignored it! I will have to get him swimming when we are back February.

Audrey and Milena..have a good two day fast…you are both very good.

Hemmy…you are always up early..with early posts…dog walking maybe? Hope we both have a good FD with weight moving tomorrow…😀

CC and Keeptrying have a good day too.

Good luck to anyone who is on a FD today. Stay warm.

    Cheers all
    Jean x

    Hi all!

Such a happy, positive and helpful thread!

I’ve just completed my second week on adf and have lost 11lb (6lbs first week, 5lbs second week) and so feel slightly more optimistic about my goal of losing 7.5St!

I use the app Ginette mentioned (my fitness pal) and find it so useful. I also have the app Map My Walk, which works with my fitness pal and calculates your calories burned from walking – which is really motivating for larger people like myself.

I’m trying to have Spirulina Powder daily, but it tastes so foul that I am virtually retching before I even drink it – any tips.

My top tip for warding off hunger pangs is exercise! It doesn’t matter what form, as long as it gets your heart pumping faster (my preferred favourite is dancing to 70s disco like no-one is watching, which they aren’t). Not only do you feel less hungry, but you burn calories and may even build more muscle mass, which in turn continues to burn calories after you have finished.

I’m really finding that this diet is working for me so far, but I know it’s still early days and am terrified of diet fatigue setting in.

Congratulations to Audrey on her back situation improvement. Also to everyone else in this thread for not gaining weight in the last 2 weeks – that’s a real achievement. My sister uses Slimming World and every week there’s at least one person in the group who has put on weight!

    Love to you all xx

    Hi Duchess

great losses, just what you need to get you going – don’t worry about fatigue and plateaus – they will almost certainly happen, the secret it to expect them!

I’ve always been in sales and a story of Babe Ruth always kept me going -for many years the most home runs in history and also the most strike outs – his philosophy was, as he worked on percentages, every strike out was welcome, cos it got him nearer to a home run.

Read Buttonboots journey on this forum too – that lady is an insiration to us all!!

    Good luck!

And the comment about not gaining is sooo important – stopping an oil tanker and turning it round is the most difficult thing for a skipper to do! Once the tanker starts its journey it becomes easy during calm waters, then its the storms which can knock it off course. A good analogy though I say it myself!!!

    Hi Audrey

Ok I shall let you know. For now I am just trying to get into routine. Good luck on your liquid days b

I had a fall yesterday, tripped over a kerb, not a problem in itself but I was carrying something so knees, hand and cheek took the hit. I have ended up with a scrazed hand, cut and soon to be bruised cheek and bruised knees which are a little tender. I’m hoping that bruises will come out and knees will escape too much damage as they can be painful at times. That is obviously my fault at carrying too much weigh for all that time.

As is the way I felt a right idiot….

    Hi Hemmy

When I left Pams last night it was 0 degrees and about 8 miles down the road where I live it was 3.5. What a difference a few mikes make. It is nice and warm indoors today. That and the fast I have a cat on me as I write this helps. Soon to be disturbed though as I shall be getting a cup of tea. Being busy stops you thinking about eating. So there is a plus side. I shall be fasting with you tomorrow Monday I am going to enjoy a bacon sandwich and soup for lunch as I fasted yesterday. I shall probably wait until mid afternoon for this though.

    Hi Jean

-5 oh my!! I do feel for you. Swimming is always good exercise. I am sure you are right Hubby will focus more after the holiday. I hope where you are going it will be warmer.

    Hi Duchess

Well done!! A great boost, that will really encourage you. That is a great start, you are obviously suited to this way of life.

Thanks for the app info. I don’t walk much in the winter as it is too cold outside for me a soft southerner!! But I will try it is the summer. That is great that it links with my fitness Pal especially for all those walkers as those who are doing steps Audrey and Milena I think and those who walk dogs like Hemmy may be interested in that. I think that the heavier you are the more you can burn for the same walk as someone who is slimmer. Correct me if I am wrong.

Slimming world didn’t work for me and it is too restrictive to do something daily. I like the freedom this gives me. It is my choice to do three fast days. That keeps me on track.

I did get a Coleen Nolan disco exercise one. Hits from. The 70s I believe. I haven’t got a DVD player though so I haven’t used it…..

I am not sure exactly what spirulina powder is. I shall go and look. Would it taste if you added it to food?

    Ginette

    Hi all,

Got through the morning ok. My friend came over sp we have spent 2 hrs non stop talking, does it count as burning calories? Hehe only joking…. her husband has just retired and is driving her nuts!

I am going to get the wii out and do some dancing this afternoon, ginette knows the one! It’s called exerbeat and is quite good to do so I will be doing the salsa for a while I think….

Sorry duchess I don’t know about the powder either! Sounds nasty…

Will be back in touch once ian is up and out the house tonight…

Milena hope this morning has gone o.k.

    Audrey

    Hi Milena

Sorry I see our posts must have crossed. Yes the oil tanker is a good one. How is the day going?

    Hi Audrey

I’m not sure talking dies burn calories or I would be stick thin!! Listening doesn’t either but it makes you a good friend and passes the time on a difficult day. It also gives you something else to think about.

I hope the day goes quickly…… Although it seems wrong to wish this on time. Xx

    Ginette

    Hi all,

I have got through the day ok. I have done over 70 mins exercise ( not all at once) and I am feeling great…

    Milena are you doing o.k.?

Will be back in touch again soon

    Audrey

    Hi All,

Hope everything is going great for us fasters today..half way through…

Ginette…oh dear your fall …hope you are feeling better…it’s the shock going and carrying things at the same time…have a bit of TLC…you will possibly hurt even more in a few days….xxx

Duchess… Welcome..what a great start..very motivating …it’s a lovely easy way to loose weight..just a few changes to make it a habit…you have ups and downs on the way but tomorrow is another day 😀

I liked the sound of … Spirulina powder on line…it says put in chocolate brownies…I hope you are not going to lead us astray Duchess 😇

    Jean x

Oh Ginette you did make me laugh! Imagine if it did, there would be few fat women and a fair number of portly men – though my bro-in-law can talk the hind legs of a donkey – though he is always pointing out other folk talk a lot!

Sorry to hear about the fall – get the Arnica rubbed on the bruises.

Audrey, going well, three or four cups of tea, which for me equates to nearly a cup, I’m sitting in the dark, should get up and start the stock but can’t be bothered – got cold feet though (still in dressing gown – might go and put on some jimjams!)

A third of the way there, and some of the 24 hours left will be spent sleeping – could you video the dancing for us?

Just finished doing 500 photos, now to photoshop them all! That’l keep me occupied – and I’m about to put on MyKitchenRules, as the boys are out – I must be bloody mad!!!! Manu and Pete are soo cute though!

    Hi all,

Ian gone work now so I am here alone avoiding the kitchen mode…

The day has gone well, this time tomorrow I will have eaten, I have had 2 cups of coffee and lots of water…. with all the exercising I am hoping for a big drop on the scales tomorrow then I just need to keep it off again. …

Glad my fellow fasters are all doing well, I think it’s easier when you know you are not alone!

Ginette hope you are recovering after your fall, like milena I swear by arnica. …get well soon my friend.

    Audrey

well done to all of you as you seem to be doing so well!

I certainly prefer this to a daily diet, however I am getting sooooOOOOO bloated.

I do suffer from IBS/gut issues and often get bloated but for goodness sake, it is actually waking me up in the night – or at least I wake up and notice how I feel full up to my chest.
It seems to go down in the morning, but builds up, and eating my main meal makes me end up so uncomfortable.
Tonight I had chicken casserole, and I didn’t even have any potato or other carbs, just the chicken and veg, and yet I already feel bleugh, and I can hear my tummy rumbling.

I have, in the past, had periods of several weeks where I have felt similar, but it hasn’t usually affected me at night.

I so badly need to lose weight and change my relationship with food but stuff like this stresses me out

oh, and I had a boiled egg for lunch, with gluten free bread and that still made me feel stuffed 🙁

    Milena

I am starting to get a bit hungry now, so I am going to go upstairs for a bath and early night. Hope you are doing ok

Cu back here again tomorrow. ….day 2 WE CAN DO THIS….

Symba and hemmy… hope your fast day is going well too…

    Night all

    Audrey

Hi all, so busy on here losing track of who said what!Didn’t have haddock chowder and many veg for FD dinner last night as had put all in the freezer instead of leaving on in the fridge. Had to make a very hasty veg soup instead. To disguise the fact that had several forms of tomatoes in it I blended two tomatoes a handful of kale and handfull of spinach and added a small glug of red wine. Added this purree to the home made stock, tomato purree and veg( shallot celery, carrot, courgette, Mixed herbs, pepper, kale, peas, broad beans, sweetcorn, green beans and spinach). The change in colour distracted Stu from the tomato as I had hoped. Topped with a bit of grated reduced fat cheddar.
Just had a carrot orange romaine, hawthorn tincture , lime juice and toasted coconut smoothie ( with 2 tea spoon physillium husks. Tasted really light and summery. Had cooked, chilled and re heated whole wheat pasta with spinach, kale, raw carrot , raw courgette chopped hazelnuts , aubergine pesto, lemon juice and drizzle of oil oil (read the Michael Moseley article about raw olive oil and cholesterol yesterday).Only had 50 g pasta each but very filling.
Wish I could catch the motivation excercise bug you all seem to have….. spent most of the day asleep. Yesterday we went to Stu’s Tai Chi and it was cancelled due to the rebating a massive gas leak in the building.Everyone piled round the corner to our favourite cafe/ bistro and Stu and I both held our nerve and only had coffee.
Really do need to be getting our selves active fit and excercising but I seem to be hibernating/ hiding from the fact we have had the tenancy year and we still haven’t got a lounge coz it’s full of boxes.

Duchess what an amazing loss well done. Hope everyone is safe and warm. Take good care lovely peeps.

    Tara and Stuart

    Good evening friends. x

Sounds like thursday is a FD for lots of us.

Aud and Milena going great guns. Well done you two. Xx

Hi Sym .. yes up at 6am at the mo with Kristy working in London. Hopefully a lb loss for us tomoz … I cant wait to see how your hubby does this week bless him. Do you think because you are doing the food side of things he is letting you be in front this time around.Lol Xx

Duchess .. Yay yay what a result 11lbs in 2 weeks. What a star. Just relax do what you are doing dont worry about lapse of loss on a week … it will all pan out in the end. That dancing is a good idea … I had forgotten about that. Years ago did ballroom lessons and lost loads of weight … look forward to sharing your exciting journey. Xx

Hi Ginette .. oh my dear friend hope you are not too shaken. What an awful thing to happen. Take it easy the next few days if at all possible. Sometimes its a while after you feel the shock …strain.
Look after yourself Ginette there is only one you here.. and very needed and appreciated. Xx

Hi Keeptrying… thats awful that bloated feeling … I had that to start with … now that seems to have righted itself also goods in transit seems to have calmed down and regular. Your name says it all … just keep on doing the 2 days FDs changing food around to see what suits you. 500 cals can be anything at all that suits … fills and make it easy to transport if need be.

Keep logging in here KP .. you will soon find your path. Xx

Hi CC I love your posts always lovely recipes trying new things etc. Glad Stu is doing okay. Well done you both for just having coffee.

Oh … hate to keep nagging as Kristy says .. but what about those 30 min boxs for unpacking. Lolol Xx

Karen hope your hols are going well … mulled wine and all that. Xx

All our other friends here hope you are getting back in the swing after Xmas. .. Anyone looking in and wanting a new lease of life … grab a chair and join in. Xx

    Hi Audrey

doing fine, a further three cups of tea – about a mouthful out of each one!!! Worse still I have a table to the right of me for the cup, and I have hurt my neck, I think I slept on it the wrong way night before last, no pain until I move my neck to the right (well don’t do it then!!)

Apart from that a couple of glasses of water, stock done, licked fingers after sorting the chicken carcase but didn’t have any, OH just had a chick sarnie for tea and then a plate of chicken and some muesli – and he will probably be down to his good weight by the end of the month! Unfair!

Only about 20 hours to go, still working away so my hands – and brain – are engaged. I reckon I can do eight or nine hours in bed, probably some solitaire before I go to sleep, and soup to make tomorrow!

Wobbled slightly reading your post Celtic, some lovely – and very healthy – food. Not sure I could be trusted to put a glug of wine into the pot and not pour a glass – but keeping away from the vino until Sunday. The home made fish and chips ain’t going to happen – OH has decided too tricky. Oh well.

KP not to be too personal, but does the bloating include wind? Gall bladder problems are well known in fertile, forties, fat, flatulent females. I was fifties and not fertile but maybe something to think of – its one of the causes of weight gain.

Other than that, keep a diary, may point you in the right direction. And try a water only day, see how that pans out.

Aud – see ya in the morning!

    Hi Audrey

Well done on the exercise. I have just put get opened over all of the grazes as they are a bit sore. I hope to draw the redness out. Tomorrow I will use honey as this is meant to help healing. I am also off to tge chemist so I shall pick up some arnica. My knees and cheek are tender but only when I touch them. I know there is a lot of bruising to come out as they feel lumpy and bruised. A
Art from that I am feeling fine. To black eye yet either.

    Hi Jean

I am sure you don’t need anybody to lead you astray!!

    Milena

At least you are keeping busy. The time will soon go and as you say sleep will take up a lot of the time. I hope you get a nice weight loss.

    Hi Keeptrying

Have you changed your times of eating. Do you think it can be that? I think I read somewhere that fasting has a beneficial effect normally on IBS. Maybe it is just that you have changed your foods. Either way not nice. I hope it settles soon.

    Hi Celtic

Yes that was a good trial on olive oils and it is good to see that the cheaper ones are just as good.

Hi Hemmy I am fasting tomorrow and that will be the third and final one of the week. Soup ready and chicken and veg in the evening, what’s not to like.

    See you all tomorrow.

    Ginette

Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x

So much milder here this morning but wet. A nice change though from that intense cold.

Aud and Milena hopefully another brilliant day for you both. Then a wonderful result tomoz. Xx

Ginette glad you are okay. I didn’t realize you were on 3 FDs this week. Hope for good loss for you too. Xx

Good news … another 1 pound bites the dust hopefully never to be seen again. Lol So thrilled. Now 11 lb from my original goal… but had changed it to nine and a half st so still looking at 18lbs. One day .. one day. lol

Sym and hubby wishing for good news for you… from ” them da Scales”. Xx

Have a good day everyone in our corner… clock in tell us how you are doing. Lets all be here to share our highs and lows.

Brit lovelies and anyone else thinking of joining our band of losers lol ..

Some quit due to slow progress..Never grasping that slow progress… is progress. Xx

ha ha milena – I am also fifties and no longer ‘fertile’!! and certainly fat!!!!
I do have a gall stone, but I don’t think it is related to that

Anyway today is a fast day for me and tummy already over an inch less than last night, phew.
I have already had a lick of some butter icing – as I had to try it for some cakes (for other people), because I had never made it with cinnamon before, now its drinks until thin soup for lunch.

Good luck to anyone else fasting today, and good wishes to you all xx

    Hi All,

Clocking in with 1 lb off EACH….I have kick started hubby back on board with fish and chips..ha ha, both very pleased.

Hubby says he goes with the flow it will move. If I have tried all week and no loss for me it upsets me! He has a better attitude than me.

Hemmy…a pound a week girl like me..well done..as you say another one bites the dust! 🙂

Ginette… Hope you are not too sore this morning. Look after yourself. X

Audrey and Milena… Have a good second FD.. …Hoping you have a good loss …you are both very determined well done xx

Celtic…you seem a very busy bee in the kitchen..all sounds very interesting..maybe pop the olive oil in the smoothies..would you taste it? It was a good programme.

Keeptrying..have a good FD hoping the scales are good to you…cakes sound good…I really miss not baking.

Good luck to any more fasters…have a good day

    Jean x

    Morning all

Very strange but I am not receiving emails from you all,in have checked and I am still checked in the box for replies so don’t know what’s going on today, no thought it was too quiet!

I am into 2nd day now, no wobbles but did get hungry last night do had early night. Popped on scales down 3lb this ,orning but I know now it won’t last, hopefully 1 lb off by end of week….

Will check in again later, off to exercise now wish me luck!

    Audrey

    Hi all
Lots of new ladies and a few oldies ( not age related at all)
Thought I check in and see how everyone’s doing.im on my 3 FD this week and found it much easier with hubby away got a wedding at the beginning of April son getting married and a dress that is to tight to do the zip up going for a stone and a half loss I’m sure it will fit then….5.5 lb loss so far.
All have a great day fasting or not ……lynda x

    Hi Audrey

Good lass!!!!! I ‘m still going strong, but my stomach is playing a symphony at the moment. So is hubby’s. I suppose he did eat less than usual yesterday!

What was the programme about olive oil. Been using only olive oil for about 20 years now, a wee bottle of walnut and sesame, but have up on veggie oil years ago. I use duck fat too. I have some rapeseed but don’t like it. Though James Martin had someone making cold pressed rapeseed. Will try that – higher smoking point. But mainly use Aldi oils, the more expensive one for dressings.

Today is a milestone!!!! My first anniversary of joining this forum. This thread is a wee bit younger, been here from the start. Good job this ain’t a diet, cos I wouldn’t be here if it was.

I’m exactly three stone less this morning than my starting weight. I have actually been ten pounds lighter, but well, Christmas was a great break. Hoping to lose the ten pounds by the end of February. Actually was 12 lbs up at one stage, so have already lost 2lbs – think that may have been yesterday.

Not earth shattering figures, but quite a difference. Still have a dream of getting down to under 9 stone, which will be a five and a half stone loss. So I’m more than halfway.

Some great lessons learnt. It’s soo easy to take your eye off the ball and put weight back on. But it doesn’t matter, the mechanism is there in 5:2 to get things straight back under control, cos there is no fail mechanism. It’s possible to make the life change to be the you in the mirror something to be proud of. You can have chocolate. And wine. And cake. Just sometimes not until tomorrow.

And, most importantly, finding a group of people who understand your mind set, whether it’s cos you are obese or just a few pounds away from the weight you want to be, people who can help, cajole support and suggest without bullying or ridicule, who become real friends, truly caring and supporting friends, is the very best help we can get to help ourselves to achieve our goals. And we all get so very much more.

I’m getting there. We are all getting there. Thank you all!

    Hi all,

Still not getting emails from the forum it’s very strange, are you all receiving yours?

Lynda, welcome back on the forum it’s been a while…

Thanks Lynda and hemmy for replying to me…

Talk again when ian up and out

Keep going milena we are so nearly there now

    Audrey

Hope no-one sees me as bragging, let’s face it, 12lb on is mad, and I could be sitting here at 4stone if I had willpower, but the gain was sort of intended,if you know what I mean, and probably less than in previous years. And if it was expected, how could it be a failure. This 5:2 is as much about getting your head straight as eating less. Ride the highs and the lows, fit 5:2 into your life and your life into 5:2. Simples.

The lack of food is making me philosophical!

Nearly three, if I can last another 4 hours it will be 48hrs, and then soup!. Imagine that for a lass who always thought the Hobbits second breakfast, supper etc was a good idea!!!

    Go gal, Audrey!!!!

    Milena

You are not bragging just celebrating, if someone had said this time last year you could lose 3 stone you would have snapped their hand off.

You, ginette and myself have stuck with this through the year, we are unstoppable. …. yes we have all gained some back but life is for living and christmas is for celebrating. …

You are one of my heroes, together we will get there because together we are stronger. .. ..

Roll on 6 o’clock then we can both eat, we are both getting emotional now. ….Hehe

    Your fast friend

    Audrey

I agree, its not bragging, milena, goodness you and all of you have so much to be proud of, and it helps inspire me to keep at it.

Today has been good, although I felt bloated for a while even after just having my 84 calories of soup :(, so I am quite anxious about how I will feel after tea. The good thing for me, on fast days, is I drink a lot more which is something I can sometimes forget to do. I am going to buy some lemon and ginger tea as I quite like that. At the moment I alternate between water, rooibos, raspberry, mint and marigold.

By the way, the programme that had about the olive oil was bbc ‘Trust me I’m a doctor’
and the research found that eating/drinking 20ml of FRESH (NOT COOKED) olive oil a day really helped the heart
they compared anyold v extra virgin, and that made NO difference.
However, the sunflower oil did nothing, and even the rapeseed oil (which is very similar in monounsaturates to olive oil, DID NOTHING which they were surprised about.

But the key seemed to be having the oil uncooked, which I really cant see happening for me.
I like rapeseed oil, it makes the best roast potatoes I have ever made. But I really seldom use oil as I fry very very little.

    Hi All,

Milena…how can anybody see you as bragging, if you are ..you should be…we are all green with envy…we wish we are running close but we will hopefully catch you up even in a year…a really well done Happy Years Birthday xxx

The olive oil was Michael Mosley’s programme, trust me I am a Doctor…20 ml of extra virgin/ olive oil raw not cooked, drunk by the spoon or on food, every day brings heart disease down in 6 weeks. Came out best on all oils. All the others were the same with no health benefits.

Hemmy… We go away a week Sunday so one more weigh in, I would of liked a stone but it possibly will be 12 lbs. Xmas got in the way. Still two weeks off plan, take the damage weight off when back then push forward again. Then must get hubby seriously back on track to overtake me. Swimming may start!

Audrey and Milena…enjoy your break..fast tonight well done..X

Hi Linda …….good luck in getting the zip up for your sons wedding ….

    Have a good evening everybody

    Jean x

    Hemmy

How true. Slow progress is better than no progress. Crash diets or any other diet in my case seem to lead to more weight gained…..I suppose it is tge deprived feeling it always gave me. Here I don’t feel deprived, I am not in control enough to do two days and eat healthily so three days it is, one kess day to trip up on.

Those of you reading this, take the plunge and come and join us. Better to moan together than apart when we gain a little also better to lose together which if you are following simple rules you will do. Come and have the company as when no one understands us in the outside world, we all understand the problems here. We have all been there one way and another. Take a chance you won’t look back…..

    Hi Keeptrying

This is how Rosemary Conley started here diet club. She ate all food with less than 5% fat and got rid of her gallstone problems and also lost tons of weight on the way.

    I’m fasting with you today.

    Hi Jean

Well done to you both for the 1lb off. I ache a bit today and looked a state as I put elastoplasts everywhere with germolene to draw out the cuts and grazes. My face looked a picture. Now I just need to let them heal. I shall ask the pharmacists advice as I’m not sure all of the rubbish is out yet. Strangely arms ache as well now, this must have been the impact. That will teach me to look where I am walking!!

    Hi Audrey

I shall be interested to see the end of the week weight. I hope it is good.

    Hi Lynda

Well done on your loss. You have a good chance to lose this by the beginning of April. Have you thought about a little exercise as well. But it is very achievable and with a goal in sight you will get there.

    Hi Milena

It was on Trust me I’m a doctor. It has to be eaten Raw so not used in cooking but can be added afterwards. 2 dessert spoons a day. On salads should be easy, I’m still not sure if I like the taste myself. Cooking you lose all those properties it was said, I have heard this before though.

I agree it is being with a group of people that understand your mindset. If people aren’t trying to lose weight they don’t and aren’t really interested….. Who can blame them. Like you I have been on this thread from the beginning. I out on 10lbs on the tine off. I still did three fast days for all but the Christmas weeks when I did two but I ate to excess on the other days. I am now getting the other days more under control. Not completely but I’m getting there.

Not long to go now Audrey. I am sure you will enjoy it.

    Ginette

    Hi All

Just a quickie. An article about Fitbits versus Aldi version. Aldi version costs £25 for anyone that is interested.
