First real frost here this morning. Brrr.
Well done Audrey so glad your first FD went well. Hopefully you will soon feel better now.Xx
Hope everyone else is doing ok.
Back on an old computer as laptop has packed up.. really slow hard going. lol
Well, pleased to say just weighed in at a 2lbs loss. So very happy… feeling better more active again…
Take care Brit lovelies.. Lets focus on change ..Use our energy… by not fighting the old …but building on the new. Xx
Hi All,
I lost 2 lbs this week putting me back to my pre Xmas weight, feeling very pleased… hubby has stayed the same. He usually is ahead of me don’t know what’s happening to him….
We would both like at least 2 stone off each but will take a step at a time and wait and see….
Audrey…..glad you managed your first Fast Day of the year.
Hemmy…well done on your 2 lbs off
Take care all Brits
Jean x
Well done Audrey!!!
Not done one yet, though I have been just eating one meal for most of this week, Copenhagen in a couple of hours, back Sunday and first fast Monday – might do a liquid, I’m actually looking forward to getting back into the swing! New Years resolution is to do at least two days a week, either my 400 cals or liquid, and TDEE every other day, not cheats until the end of February – hopefully will give me a kick start and I can lose the 12lb (eeeeeeek!) I have regained. Must have been a bit to that ‘goods in transit’ Ginette as a couple are away already – 10lbs to end February isn’t too difficult.
I really need to kick myself into gear, not at all fussed I’m put on cos I know it will come off, which is not something I would say about any other diet I have tried, the others just bit the dust, just shows this is different! So back to basics for a wee while. Son is under strict instructions to finish off the Christmas chocolate – even my birthday Galaxy – makes me wonder how I put on that much and there is still birthday chocolate left from before Christmas!
Have a great weekend everyone, I just know I shall!!!
travel hopefully
Hi everyone, another Brit here hoping I can join in.
I live in North East England, I’m 66 and started this on 1st Jan and have lost 5lb so far, although most of that will be water.
I have to lose about 50lb and as I’m not at all healthy I’m hoping that this will improve my general health enough that I can do at least a BIT of exercise, which I can’t at the moment.:(
Fasting today and only had water so far – will see how it goes! 🙂
Hi Dear friends.x
Well done Audrey .. you will soon slice into that 30lbs. Looking to lose about 21lbs .. as you say keeping it to smaller amounts at a time. Xx
Sym that 2lb loss is brilliant … bet you are eying up your holiday clothes/ Xx
Have a good trip Milena. Xx
A big welcome to fellow Brits …DuchessDeMalfi and Coffeeholic13.
Lots of support here a good place to be. Good luck and best wishes may 2016 be your year. Xx Keep in touch because…. Audreys words…
Together we are stronger. Xx
Symba and Hemmy thanks for the welcome.:)
I live on Teesside Symba, about 30 miles south of Newcastle.
Have had dinner (350 cals) so still some left if I need to eat anything before bedtime. Will get weighted tomorrow and take some measurements – I’ll just have to tell OH to have the smelling salts ready! 🙂 Hopefully they’ll have gone down and not up. LOL
20 wow , we have both cut our coffee intake drastically, just one cup ordinary coffee a day… usually the first one. Me because it was aggravating hot flushes and Stuart to try and get his BP down. Rest of the time it’s decaf. The percol decaf instant is very good … can’t taste any difference. We’ve also got decaf beans if we want fresh brewed and loads of places do really good quality fresh decaf these days….Our fave cafe in Cromer has a great blend. The other things we drink a lot of on FD are hibiscus tea and earl grey rooibos tea.
Celtic….Cromer my favourite place for crabs…we try and go and stay over once a year…very jealous your local… Coffee plays havoc with my water works..I only have a treat if we are out never have it at home…I do love and miss it…never thought of decaf !
Mouth still playing up ..I will have to go back to dentist Monday..hubby playing up as I have not gone back..
Have a good weekend all, lots of names to mention now…….
Jean x.
Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x
Awful wet day set in again here. No floods though so feel blessed and so very sorry for the folk suffering them. What a heartbreak that must be.
Hi Coffee hope yesterdays FD went well for you. Wishing for a nice reward on those scales when you weigh this morning. Xx
Hi Celtic love that soup and prawn meal sounds so tasty will give that a whirl. I find if a have a cup of soup by Ainsley Harriot very filling and tasty .. hardly need anything else . Mixed pack of 8 1.79 Aldi. Hope Stu is Ok. Xx
Hi Sym .. do you have a local pharmacist our local Boots lady is brilliant for advice. Take care of yourself … hubby is right to be caring. Xx
Hope every one else is well and settling back into this way of life. Come on our little corner of the world … we can all do this. Xx
Brit lovelies…. Ginette ..Audrey… Milena.. Celtic..Karen..Newbs..Sym ..Summer..Kitty…Mum..Duchess..Coffee. Anyone missed or thinking of joining us.Xx
Its not a short term diet …Its a long term lifestyle change. Yay. Xx
Just tried the nutri ninja for the first time.
1 small Cox
1 small russet
1 clementine
4 walnut halves
Lime juice
Pumpkin seeds
4 slices frozen banana
Sprinkle of cinnamon
After the fruit and seeds put in half filled the jug with filtered water.
Turned out really nice, not too thick… like milk and not too sweet. Was enough for a mug each and Stuart drank and liked it.
Going to put oats into soak and do a breakfast smoothie for FD tomorrow
Hi fellow Brits!
Encouraging to read all of your stories and targets. I am on week 7 of the fasting diet. In my forties, too scared to weight myself at outset but since dec 21st I became braver. I have lost 2kg since then which is great as it was over Christmas! I want to be 62kg and presently weigh 76. Already my trousers are looser, my ring is loose on my finger, and after 7 weeks I feel I can maintain this diet. I keep it v simple on fasting days as it keeps me from temptation. It’s boring but I eat a Kabuto noodle pot and a banana and itsu seaweed strips to snack. And I drink lots of water. Was worried about not having enough fluid. But I try to remind myself to drink more often. I actually look forward to fasting days which I wasn’t expecting.
I am in London but my work requires lots of travel and that for me is the challenge. I will be finding it much harder to avoid free food from clients, in airports, on the move.
Interested in what is motivating all of you to stick at this : for me, it’s partly vanity, partly health, wanting to stop some joint problems and a weak back from getting worse… You?
Hi Dear Brits. x
Well done Audrey with that loss. Enjoy your grand daughters today. and have a enjoyable Sunday lunch. Xx
Sym … Hugs. Xx
Celtic .. that all sound so very yummy and healthy too. Have you unpacked the TV yet? xx
A big welcome to you London Life.
Look forward to you sharing our journey … Lots of good encouragement to be had.
Xx
Hemmy, hangs head in shame , nope we have sorted the tv yet. Bear in mind it took Stuart nine years to run an aerial socket extentions for the at the old place.. and then said oh should have done it sooner was easy and omly took 15 minutes.
Just had smoothie number two before dinner
Rocket, spinach, flower sprouts, kale, cuecumber, celery, russet, lime juice, 4 baby plum tomatoes a twist of mixed peppercorns and tiny sprinkle of mace. Was very nice ..refreshing and slightly nutty.Nutri Ninja is very easy to clean and has a safety thing .. the motor won’t switch on until the blending beaker is totally engaged.
Have put 60g of porridge oats 10 g walnuts and 10g pumpkin seeds in water to soak to have smoothie for FD breakfast tomorrow. Will prob add a russet and mixed spice.
ĹL impressive loss over Christmas , well done. I so wish I had discovered this way of life sooner ( I did watch the original tv prog but life took over big time). I’ve lost just over a stone and have at least another 4 Togo so going to be here a while yet. I’m happy for it to be a slower process… Skin and body need to be able to keep .
Good morning Brit Buddies 🙂
Yay it’s not raining..at the moment!!
Hemmy Jean and Audrey..well done on your losses this week 🙂 🙂 xx I have lost 1kg this week so I’m pleased with that! It’s good to see that a return to a normal week ie 2 x FD brings results.
Duchess Coffee and London..welcome to the forum 🙂 we are a friendly group on here with some very knowledgeable and experienced contributors. Keep checking in for support on your journey x
Focusing on small achievable targets will give you a great confidence boost when you hit them!
Jean..hope you are feeling a bit better x Tooth/gum pain is terrible..you just can’t focus on anything else. Make sure you get extra help if you need it x
Celtic..I too loved the sound of your soup 🙂 Soup is a ‘go to’ for me on a FD..so filling! And your Ninja gadget sounds great..have fun experimenting!
Hope Stu is doing OK x
Audrey..hope you are feeling much better now and that your mum is doing OK x
Milena..hope your w/e shopping trip in Copenhagen is successful x travel safe x
Ginette Blaise Summer Priscilla..hope you are all doing OK x
Sorry if I’ve missed anyone x
Hemmy..hope you’ve finished off those naughty nuts!! Now don’t go buying any more!!

Hi all,
Chubby chops from South Wales here again, sorry I haven’t been here for a while, been a busy time with a long trip to beautiful Australia in November, (oh I so miss that sunshine!)
I started the 5:2 this time last year and I’ve come down from 13st 4 to hovering around 10st now. I made it to 9st 10 before Xmas and had lots of compliments over the holidays from people who seem to have only just noticed my weight loss! (I realise I’ve been hiding under baggy clothes for so long and have only now found the confidence to‘come out’ in fitted clothes and slim jeans 🙂
I’m back on track now after gaining about 5lb over Xmas, (jeans tight again can still squeeze into them), but I’m finding it slow going at the moment. I recognise that I still have binging urges (gave into them over Xmas!) so my goal now is to get comfortably down to single figures, ie below 9 and a half st, to give myself a bit of room for manoeuvre and get into a healthy bmi, (currently 25.7).
Good luck everyone
CCxxx
Hello CC
South Wales is one of my favourite places in the world. We’ve already booked a week there for August.
Your journey sounds similar to mine. I started last February at 12 St 9 and got down to 9 St 6 fleetingly. For the last few months though I’m hovering 2 lbs either side of 10 stone. I’ve been exercising quite a lot though so think there are changes and feeling much more toned. I would prefer to hover around 9 stone but this last stone is proving very stubborn.
Maybe we can help each other through? I’ve done 4:3 this week and been good on NFD within TDEE so hopefully will see a little loss soon.
Summer
Hi Summer,
I love your name, I am so longing for the summer here! Whereabouts are you going in South Wales in August? There are so many beautiful spots, we are very lucky to live here 🙂
I have adapted the FD to suit my life, as I really hate counting calories etc, and I’m not very good at sticking to rules lol! I like the principle of averaging your calories out over the week. What I did last year, (and have just restarted), is on weekdays be really strict, just eat fruit and salad, veg etc, (no carbs, very limited fat and sugar, no wine) then relax at the weekends, and let myself have wine and a few treats, but hopefully without pigging out too much 🙂 I am quite lucky in that I don’t mind eating more or less the same thing every day without getting bored with it. This worked well for me last year so I’m hoping that (say by Easter) I will be nearer 9st than 10.
Hope you see some loss soon, Slow and steady eh?
Speak soon,
CCx
CC and Summer it’s great to hear your journeys so far….being in numbers I can only dream of. It’s great to hear from people who have made it into such great numbers.Summer don’t fret to much the number muscle is much denser than fat so can you loose fat (yay) and gain muscle (yay) and it makes the numbers go up. It’s your size and tone that count. One of the reasons why BMI is a very rough yard stick.
We had 60g oats, 10g walnut and 10g pumpkin seed, 70 g russet, dash of lime juice and smudge of mixed spice for a FD smoothie breakfast. Also threw in a heap teaspoon of physillium husks and twenty drops of hawthorn, lime leaf and garlic tincture. We did Stu’s BP last night and it was on of his best 138/ 78 with a pulse of 55. Looks like the changes and tincture are working. My BP was 111/65 with pulse of 53 (thats normal for me) but I was impressed at the pulse rate… lowest I’ve had since starting occasionally monitoring. It’s Ironic that I’m the one who still needs to shift at least 4 st yet has ok BP. Stu could ideally loose just over one st. Just shows how much genetics accounts for
Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x
Hope everyone had a nice week-end. Mixed weather bag here.
Well done London on that loss. Such a good feeling … stay with us on our journey. Xx
Lol C C you are mot missing much in the TV stakes at the moment. Love the sound of those healthy shakes you are making. Sounds good fun too. Xx
Karen .. well done with your loss .. Thats brilliant as per usual you are so consistant. All nuts gone now. Lastest fancy is eating picked onions.. no interest at all in sweet stuff/ So strange. Loved Mars bars etc about 6 months ago. Long may it continue.Xx
Hi Summer sounds like you are on the right track. You have lost a far old bit so I reckon you will soon crack that 9st… Keep in touch. xx
Sym and Audrey hope today you both get sorted with your pain. Healing vibes to you both. Xx
Chubby-chops.. bet you are not now. lol Welcome back to our journey here. Nice when you get compliments .. we all enjoy that. Keep in touch. Xx
Fast Day here … think I will just stick to a cup of milk coffee at 2pm then a bacon and egg sarnie for later with some fruit. Seems to work.. tasty.. filling and is easy peasy.
Brit lovelies…. Ginette ..Audrey… Milena.. Celtic..Karen..Newbs..Sym ..Summer..Kitty…Mum..Duchess..Coffee… London…Chubby.. Anyone missed or thinking of joining us.
We are not losing weight we are getting rid of it…We have no intentions of finding it again. YES. Xx
Morning fellow brits
Today is the day for the pain centre treatment. …. I want it finished but I don’t want it done! I know how painful this one is and I am not looking forward to feeling the burn.
Ian has ordered me a fitbit. I think he thinks it will get me motivated to start exercising again, I must admit I respond well to a challenge. … Kate and matt got him one for his xmas present and he seems to like it, but as you can link them to other ones I think he is looking at me as competition hehe lol as if!
I will be in touch tomorrow wish me luck for this afternoon.
Sym healing thoughts flying your way get better soon…
Welcome to our new friends and welcome back cc!
Together we are stronger keep in touch
Audrey
Morning Brits,
From a very cold but dry North East.
FD for us today…very hard when it’s cold and salads…it will be with some hot meat not decided what yet. Good luck to you Hemmy on your FD.
Dentist for me at 4 pm…I really hope he doesn’t start digging about again don’t think I could manage that, hopefully antibiotitics.
Audrey ..hoping your pain clinic is good for you today, maybe I could come with you!
Well done on all the weight loss to everybody who has lost. Sorry my head isn’t with it to mention all posts…maybe in a few days…
Jean x
Hello,
I hope you don’t mind me joining your forum. I am a Brit but have just moved to Munich. I want to shift the weight after having my daughter who is 5 months old. I have tried the 5:2 before and although there were hard FD days, I actually loved the feeling of cleansing out my body and feeling so much more energetic. So! I am back on it now I have stopped breastfeeding and it is my first FD since being pregnant.
Everything is in storage still so don’t have my weighing scales or my tape measure so, for the moment, I will have to judge my weight loss by how loose my trousers are, but hoping to lose 30lbs in total. Very inspired by the comments here and it’s great to support one another.
Would love to have any hunger staving tips. Last time I did the 5:2, I would have one coffee with a splash of semi-skimmed milk = 31 cals and then try not to eat anything til 3/4pm when I would have an apple. That would then start the rumbles off and I would try for another hour or so to wait until ‘dinner’ consisting of a baked pepper with cherry tomatoes or soup or smoked salmon or something.
Look forward to being part of this group and good luck with the fasting everybody!
Hi all 🙂
Audrey and Jean..hope all goes well for both today and that you get some relief..hugs xx
Chubby-chops..welcome back! Hope your jeans will soon be loose and that you find the support on here to help you reach your target 🙂
JdeF..welcome to the forum! Lots of lovely support on here. Hope your FD is going well 🙂 I think we all go with what works best for us. In the beginning I had 3 small meals as I didn’t think I could last until lunchtime. After a couple of months I switched to just lunch and dinner as my body and appetite had changed. I even manage a little treat of a square of 85% dark chocolate so I don’t feel totally deprived!! FD for me too today..quite a few of us do Mondays. I usually have veg soup..find it more filling than fruit.
Could do with a break in the weather to have some decent walks instead of a quick whizz round between showers!
Hope FD going well for all and mindful for anyone having a normal day x
Take care all x
Karen
Xx
Just a update,
Dentist packed my hole with a bandage (like gel) ouch….given me 7 days antibiotic bombs 500 mg 3 a day
He said with the tooth being difficult to remove my gums are in trauma he thinks normally 7 to 10 days before much better.. I have done 7 days…so not much longer and keep taking painkillers.
We have both had a good FD
Audrey ….how did your pain clinic go…I hope not as bad as you thought…
Thanks Hemmy for your hugs…
Xx
Hi all,
Thanks for the welcomes, am also having a hungry day today but am holding out – sending strength to everyone. I also feel the cold terribly at the best of times, now have triple socks, gloves, sitting in front of the fire with a blanket over me knees like a little old lady! Baked pepper sounds good for tea, thanks jd 🙂
Hugs and good wishes to you all, sympathy to Symba and Audrey for your pain, hope it eases soon.
CC x
Hi all
well, I’m back, and no damage done – to full of cold to taste anything, even left half of my smogesbord (sp?) lunch – no trip to hotel chocolat, no wine second night, and no Godiva chocs bought in the airport!
Fast day today, one open salmon sarnie – unfinished! Off to bed in a couple of hours so first fast of New Year done.
Sorry to hear about Bowie dying – saw him in 1972! Saddened that a small core of scottish trolls are hiding behind their keyboards and making sick comments! Embarrassing for all Scots – and Stewpot died on Saturday – one of the initial group of DJs on Radio One – I feel very sad – and suddenly old!
Hello to Chubby and jdef – Chubby, I think you may need to change your name – and you too, Coffee! Jdef, Audrey and I are looking to remove the small child’s worth of fat this year, so you are in good company – we should give those fat lumps names! Maybe not, we don’t want to be attached to them for long!
Well done Audrey – the ball in now rolling, your tooth drama is worrying me symba – I postponed the work on mine last week, going to see a specialist – as soon as I get up the nerve!
Just two hours to go before bed, 4.30 start tomorrow – hope the snow stays away, forecast here and Hexham ok!
Good morning friends hope all is well with you and yours. x
A big welcome jdefouchier lovely to have you joining our journey. Sounds like you know the drill. I find a cube of Oxo in water helps or a milk coffee on FD days.

Sym and Audrey hope today finds you pain free or feeling on the up. Xx
Milena lovely to hear of your travels. Hope you are soon as my Mum would say feeling better and ” Up and at UM. Take care. Xx
