  • Afternoon All…

We are back from our trip out…Louth lovely as always…lunch out…a snack I had cheese on toast with bacon, tasty, but will only have a sandwich tonight…I did buy some homemade flap jack, couldn’t resist, healthy but we won’t count the golden syrup…lol…my two bottles of wine still unopened so that’s being reasonable strong.

Going out to wash front and back of caravan..didn’t do it yesterday …lovely and sunny at the moment.

    Hemmy….
We found a really lovely lady in H & B so we have got the magnesium for both of us. Steve looked on line and thought it may help him, restless legs and sleep…so bought one pack and another half price so I will join him. I bought some wheat bran to add to food, I was reading its a dieters friend keeps you full but goes straight through you…keeps you regular….lol…not that I need that…lol

    Lynne…
What a worry so early in the morning…good job you found someone to help..hope he’s OK..

    DF..
You can only give it a try, see how you go ..you can always revert to 5.2 again, swap about…

    Lynne..
Keep strong you will be O.k…hide those sweets…

    Kay…
You are going through it…I hope Neil’s mum gets sorted out, it’s hard when you are so far away. Ellie is holding her own but still struggling poor little love…lots of TLC which I know she has..šŸ’•šŸ’•

    Minols…
Getting those steps in, 16 miles, is it getting ready for your trek? Have a lazier day if you can…

    Afternoon all

Fast day going well only had a couple of black coffees and one with milk and also making a pot of soup, chicken and leek with potatoes and broth.

A bit of a headache today, but think it’s stress /hormone related, have been in a really bad mood since last night and can’t seem to shift it 😠, it’s making me say things that I would normally not, I now have an apology to make tomorrow.

Kay hope Neils mum gets the help she needs, I know the stress it can cause to families (I am a warden at a sheltered housing complex).

Hi to everyone keep missing, am away to take some pain killers and hopefully shift this mood, am also away to read up on this magnesium stuff lol.

Neils mum has stronger inhalers and meds so back home and hopefully will just sleep tonight! Warden been really helpful too,so fingers crossed things will get better.

The only thing I have had this afternoon is a clementine, fizzy water and a black coffee. Neil is cooking tea and it is based on vegetables with veg from what I can see so far!!

If anyone has any links to webpages about magnesium, please pass them on šŸ˜‰

    Evening all,

Sorry I’ve been absent for a couple of days. Had my boss visiting from Germany and I’ve not had a free minute! šŸ˜‚ Unfortunately he’s leaving in a few months and I’m gutted, he’s been so supportive of me over the last 5 years, and we work well together. I’m not looking forward to when he goes as it seems neither of my hopes for his replacement are going to be the one. 😢

I’ve missed too much to comment personally sorry.

Kay, so glad to see some positive news about Ellie. Hope you’re OK? xx

Not a bad couple of days for me food wise but a few glasses of wine with dinner with my boss last night. This morning I weighed the same as Saturday, hope it’s not temporary. FD for me tomorrow as I’m off to my parents on Friday.

    xx

Hope all the fasters are going well…about finished for you.

We are starting for home tomorrow, possibly leave here for 10.30…although we now have water in the portable bowser from yesterday…still no water in the area…they are really struggling, the water leak emptied the reservoir, they are trying to fill it but with the empty pipes now air locked. I feel for the farmers and their animals.

    Kay…
Glad things are under control and you have the warden to check on her…good FD for you..

    Angela…
You are with us tomorrow fasting. It’s a shame when people move on and you don’t know how you will fit with the new person….I am sure you will be fine, you are lovely and chatty…

Anyone fasting with us? Angela is with us….Hoping we have not put too much weight on, we have not gone overboard.

    Jean x

Hi Kay and anyone else interested in the benefits of Magnesium …

So glad to hear things have improved a bit for you this evening Xx

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolutionary-psychiatry/201106/magnesium-and-the-brain-the-original-chill-pill

    Hi Girls Xx

Finished with a good FD … Almonds and then just 4 bowls of soup. Oh and forgot to add this morning…. Day 11 No wine… do love to see this written. Lol

Tammy … you sound a bit down at the moment. I would imagine your job is quite stressful but also rewarding with the help you give to people.

Hope you are having a good Fast day. Xx

Angela… It is unsettling when things that are working well and people change. Hopefully it will soon gel together again.

Sounds like you are doing really well food wise. Xx

Sym… glad you got the Magnesium. And that its 2nd one half price. Will be there tomorrow. We will all be wonder women. Lol.

Kristy and I had the wheat bran .. somehow never seemed to use it though.

Sounds like you enjoyed the break even with the water prob. Safe journey home. Xx

Evening, hard day. Wanting to eat, but not really out of hunger. No disasters just not feeling so on top of it. It is flipping hard sometimes. Fasting tomorrow. Not looking forward to Friday’s weight check. Just want to continue living in the euphoria of last week’s 3 lb off! Suffice it to say that won’t be happening again this week.

Did new exercise class tonight. Challenging and made me realise just how much flexibility and strength I need to build. May ache tomorrow just to cheer me up further.

Jean, Hemmy, bit of a theme going on, LOL, Jean and the scrummy Drs and Hemmy with her nice young men. Better buy that magnesium in bulk. Great link Hemmy.

Tammy, at least you know when you need to apologise. Not everyone has that lifeskill. Some of feeling down might be the fact that we are just coming out of our depressing winter amd you need sun amd a break. Roll on your holiday.

Angela, it is a shame when someone you’ve got on with so well leaves, but you will replicate that relationship again and again.

    Kay thinking of you all.

DF just wondered how much you’d lost to date and how much to go. The average is a pound a week but that is not evenly spread. I seem to have a good month then maintain or lose a tiny amount only for a month or more and then go down again. Also if you don’t have loads to lose it is harder to shift.

    Night night

    Morning all!

Fasting for me today, if I’m correct Jean, Sarah & Angela too – anyone else?

Got my bottom of the fridge soup for lunch (worse one yet) and then as Aldi had courgettes in for the first time this year I’ll have courgetti with something yet undecided for tea! Dragged my spiralizer out and did sweet potato noodles with chilli last night, just a bit of a change.

Have a great day all. Clare x

Good morning šŸ™‚ I just KNEW I shouldn’t have given in and weighed myself last night .. big mistake, up a lb!!

Anyway, to say I’m motivated this morning is an understatement! I got out the 5:2 books and dusted them off …. I also have the Fast Beach One (4:3) which I am going to start next week. Its a six week plan, and I think its the boost I need. I was reading it before work, and could have stayed reading until I’d finished it lol.

I’m fasting today as per my usual week on 5:2 and then will do the three FD next week. I was talking about it yesterday but am SO determined now! I need some weight loss .. to plateau now is not good enough, and to gain is unacceptable to me … I need to up my game šŸ™‚

Hope everyones ok .. have a good day. I’ll be back later xx

I’m fasting today too Clare šŸ™‚ Lets make it a good one šŸ™‚ x

    Morning all

Well weigh day for me, a day early aswell, anyhow, I have managed to maintain, which is fine.

DF i feel Your pain, I seem to have plateaued for about a month and don’t want it creeping on, I guess it’s a case of, it wasn’t broke, so I shouldn’t of fixed it!!! But hopefully after this week of meals I can settle down and try to fix it!!! Properly.

Good luck on your fasts all you ladies

I am in a better mood now, just not looking forward to the apology I have to make, but after work it will be all go for getting ready for my night out at the local sports awards, so hairdresser after work and glad rags on. Hoping to avoid any stomach issues tonight by starting this morning off with a controlled amount of sugar, see how that goes lol.

Right have a good one, might not get caught up till tomorrow

    Tammy xxx

Good morning FB Brit Friends. Xx

A beautiful sunny morning… hopefully will last.

Well girls its funny as I have noticed before soup days never seem to work well for me. Disappointed with the scales this morning although weighing not till Sat.

Back to the little meals for me or M&S set cals. Still best to change it around and shake it up a bit.

Not sleeping well … feel wake when I go to bed. Then tired in the mornings.

Think we need spring now .. People need to be uplifted .. although not a bad winter but its dragging now. Need to be in the garden all day. . Lol

Well early walking … shopping day and snack lunch with my Mum at the bakery.

Not buying anymore clothes now … going to just go through my wardrobe wearing or dumping everything. Fresh start for the summer. ( Will be hard because I am a hoarder hate waste.)

    12 wine free days. Xx

Have a good day girls.. Good luck Fasters… enjoy Feasters Xx

    Brit lovelies…

Life is a grindstone. Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up depends on us.Xxxx

    Morning All….

    Speak later must get organised..

    Jean x

    Morning everyone

Tammy, have a great time tonight, I’m sure you’ll be preened to perfection.

Clare, FD, Sarah, Jean wishing you all a good FD. Jean, safe journey back home.

Angela, It’s always hard when a trusted boss leaves, but I’ve always found I learn some new skill from each boss – even if it’s how NOT to handle a situation. Hopefully you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Hemmy, thanks for the link about magnesium. I don’t have problems sleeping, but can relate to some of the other benefits. Not sure whether to try tablets or oil as hypothyroidism often affects absorption. I’ve had to do some more research.

Nice sunny day here so far. Really looking forward to spring and an end to the grey days. I think we Brits are a bit obsessed with the weather, and maybe that’s why we feel a lift when the days get longer and we get a bit of sunshine. That reminds me, need to look at Vit D supplements as well.

    Take care Lynne x

    Morning everyone

Sorry I wasn’t around yesterday was having a stressful day with assignments due in.

Well done to everyone who had their FD yesterday

Clare.. I’m fasting today too. Good luck with yours

Good luck to everyone else on a fast today!

    Jess x

    Hi all

Quick post as I’ve someone arriving in a few minutes. Can’t believe that none of my recent posts have appeared on the page (obviously, they were witty, deep, insightful, inspiring…!)

And now I can’t remember any of what I said. So I’ll keep it simple just now – NFD today, going to try and keep things low, walking lots, and clocking up the miles just by not taking the car. WIll need to do serious training but I’ll leave that til the summer, I think – I’d hate to peak too early! I think essentially, I need a good basic fitness, and then I’ll need to increase lung capacity and heart fitness to deal with the altitude in October…and that will involve the kind of training I don’t like, I suspect.

Right, off to put the kettle on for the person I can hear coming in the door…

    Mx

    Afternoon

    Apology given and accepted (phew)

Been looking at the link about the magnesium, read what I could, i can’t concentrate long enough these days to read big amounts. I would be interested in using it, but at the back of my mind think, what if I don’t need it and I end up having too much, the side effects of too much are quite bad, so am in two minds.

    Tammy xxx

    Afternoon All…
Back safe and sound…looks like chicken tonight….I will have to be mindful tonight had too much fruit for breakfast….Steve drank the milk so it was what can we have, so shared the fruit and his banana, I was up to 210 cals a bit high for me..hey ho..never mind.

    Lynne…
I think you are right we are all waiting for the better weather….more salads…longer nights makes you feel better…

    Jess…
I hope you have put all your assignments in, you can relax now….you get tapping on the computer and time flies…we are fasting with you today..

    Minols..
You will be trekking before you know it…you must start getting your practice in….lol…enjoy your meeting…

    Tammy…
We have started with one tablet a day….see how we go….I am not really a tablet girl, never take them unless I really have to, too many side effects….must read Hemmy’s link it may put me off…lol

    Hemmy…
Are you still trying to keep up with Mum on a shopping day…she usually runs you raggied…lol..hope the lunch was nice..

    Jean x

Im fasting with you today….so far so good…..must keep going though….

Yesterdays food ended with tea of tuna steak and vegetables and a bit of ice cream. Neil brought me in a ryvita with some brie on before we went to bed, but otherwise I stuck to my resolve of mo more carbs and overall it was a decent NFD.

I got some magnesium and b6 from sainsburys earlier and have already taken 1. Side effects you say…didnt read that bit….will go back and read.

Its lovely out there today, quite like spring.

Jean, glad you back safely to your own plentiful supply of water!

Tammy, glad the apology is done and dusted šŸ˜‰

DF, you sound really motivated – go you!

Hemmy, well done on the wine free days! Ive managed to go alcohol free during the week but still enjoyed a tipple or too last weekend. Thats good enough for me šŸ˜‰

    Kay

    Kay..
Nice to see you about and a bit more like yourself I think…maybe the better news from the vets..I have not had any ryvitas for ages maybe look them up again…maybe they will have the fibre which I am trying to up.

I am like you just leave a glass or two of wine for the weekend….I have 3/4 bottle waiting for Friday night..lol

A nice long shower later or in the morning….the mains on site came on this morning but there are still air locks about so didn’t know if it would last…hasn’t spoilt the holiday at all, we were ok in the van..

We are having a new central heating boiler being fitted Wednesday and Thursday , so we will be used to no water!!

Chicken cooking for later to go with the salad another couple of hours to eat yet…we have to be strong..weigh in tomorrow for us…

    Jean x

    Hi

Am in mid preparation to early to apply makeup lol.

The link about the magnesium i don’t think mentioned side effects of too much magnesium but I google it, as I remember reading something before.

Away to have 30mins to myself tthen I shall prepare.

    Tammy…

Have lovely night out and enjoy yourself

    Jean x

Fact of the day – half a cube of bovril is soooooo much nicer than a spoonful from the jar!!

Wish I’d realised this weeks ago lol

Few more hours til tea, school disco tonight so mums taxi working overtime x

Well that’s me finished..more calories than I wanted 560…that was my breakfast this morning a miss match of fruit which I had left.

Weigh in tomorrow ummm ….I just don’t know what it will be.

Hope everybody else is doing well today…

    Jean x

    Hi Girls Xx

What a beautiful day… sunshine all the way. Yay.

Sym.. back home and feeling nice and relaxed I bet. Started today on the Magnesium and Iron tabs… Watch this space. Lolol Again H & B closed from 1-2pm which didnt work out with us. Most unusual again this week… maybe short staffed. Only a small one.

Anyway got them from Boots… 3 for 2 so was able to incorporate the Iron also.

Looked up overdoses but think its just a safeguard as with anything like that.

Anyway new us Hey. Lol Tonight after unpacking shopping ( Got waylaid in the garden when I got back at 4pm. Lol First time could have murdered a giant Merlot. Just made a cup of tea. Lol Good luck tomorrow weigh in both of you. Xx

Kay.. Wish I could just have a couple of glasses of wine at the week-end…Lol Think like some people cant stop eating when they start I am the same with wine. Lol Maybe I will be able to retrain myself. .. Lol Pigs might fly I reckon. Lol Xx

Everyone seems to be doing ok … Good luck weighers for tomoz. FD for me. Xx

    Afternoon all,

I missed loads again today I see. Another busy day having budgets fun. I’m exhausted again.

So far only a few coffees to keep me going. I was tempted to try to make it a liquid only day but I really don’t want to be up all night peeing so found a low cal meal for one in the freezer!! šŸ˜‚

Thanks for all your kind comments today about my boss. I’m OK, I’ve seen a few come and go over my career, some more fabulous than others. What I’ve learned is that it’s important to work with someone with whom you share core values, I just hope that’s what I get. What will be will be.

Anyway, weigh in for me tomorrow… hoping for a maintain this week. Fingers crossed. xx

Well just back on from a really good night out and to top things off our swimming club won club of the year. Yeah go us!!!!😊

A very nice low cal meal of chicken in a thyme gravy, and cheesecake (not quite so low cal). And of cause there was a raspberry gin in proseco lovely. I won’t be counting calories.

    Catch you all tomorrow

    Xxx

    Morning all

Weigh in today and have stayed the same this week. Quite relieved. I was quite worried I had compromised the loss from last week. Total lost 31lbs, 16lbs left to go. I think this last third is going to be slow.

Tammy, your evening sounds wonderful. Well done to you and your club. Raspberry gin in prosecco – how very yum!

Things a bit tough at the moment. For the first time in several decades I ended up in tears about work mainly with a few other things thrown in LOL. Luckily I was in a hot bath at the time. As I was lying on the bed after feeling sorry for myself, I had a text from my very good friend to tell me she was having an urgent liver scan. Having just recovered from a double masectomy they are worried the cancer has gone to her liver. Hopefully they are wrong about this and it is not in any way certain yet. She is not 50 until May.

I hope everyone’s days are good. If you are weighing or fasting xx

Sarah well done on maintaining, what a horrible time for you just now and of cause for your friend, hope it works out ok for her.

I was up stupid early of 6 after going to bed at 1.30am. I would of preferred if it wasn’t through having palpitations, but they are settling down now.

Well lady meal out this afternoon, but at the moment I am really not wanting much to eat today, but that might change once I actually wake up properly.

    Have a good one

    Tammy xxx

Sarah, really hope your friend doesnt get the news she’s dreading. How worrying.Try not to feel down about work, remember you are on the final stretch now xx

Tammy, Im glad you had a fab night, although not sure about the raspberry gin in prosecco….

Hemmy, when I say I have a tipple or 2 at the weekend, maybe I should have been a bit more specific…..lol

Well just weighed myself and Im up a pound. Just hope its a food in transit issue and Ive really maintained!! Yesterday I came in at around 400 cals.
Got to sleep about 3am and the phone ringing at 7.30 woke me up, so another tired day for me.
Neils mum has called the paramedics out again – we were called from the call centre as she had pressed her pendant alarm. Thats every day this week, shes had them out and several of those days they have ended up taking her in. I really dont know what else they can do, as it seems to be anxiety/panic about struggling to breathe.
I was up early with Ellie as she was asking to go out for a wee, which is unlike her, so either the steroids are starting to effect her or she has an infection.

Good luck to anyone else who is weighing in today or fasting. We have shrunk to a smaller group but I still cant remember everyone without scrolling up! Maybe I will do that list of people later I was going to do a little while ago.

I need to pick up my prescription later, just hoping they have sorted it out this time, and I need to pick up Ellies meds from the vets too. But first Im going to finish my tea and have a little doze once Neil has gone to work. Oh and I still havent coloured my hair – actually need to wash my hair, let alone colour it!

    Laters x

    Morning All…

A dreary day here no sun today….my neighbour from across the village who has started the 5.2 is coming over for coffee this afternoon…hopefully to bring my book back….she was doing really well then went on holiday for a week….trying to loose weight for her first abroad holiday in August …she was up to a stone off in 6 weeks so she’s doing well.

Well our weigh ins not too good both 2 lbs up….maybe my new systems not good. Still having our day off today but will be having a thoughtful week…

    Hemmy..
Lovely the garden was calling, I know you do like it…our grass is so long if it reasonably dry later it may have a chop!! Second cut always better.

    Tammy…
Well done on your swimming club…looked like your night went well..

    Sarah…
Well done on maintaining…I am just finding it so hard at the moment. A good cry sometimes clears the head and think we all do it from time to time……..Thoughts with your friend hope things go well for her.

    Tammy…
Enjoy your lunch out today, nice for a catch-up…

    Kay…
Still problems with MIL, she sounds as if she needs help instead of been sent home every day..hope all your meds are fine this time……we are getting a small group, we need a few new ones to come and stay.

    Angela..
Hope your weigh in is better than mine….

Good morning FB Brits hope all is well with you and yours. Xx

Starting off a dull day after the brilliance of yesterdays sunshine.

Angela.. hope you are pleased with this mornings scales. You sound very busy Xx

Tammy.. sounded like a lovely ” let your hair down Night” just what the Dr ordered. Enjoy your afternoon meal. Xx

Sarah.. Well done on maintaining. Keeping that big 3 lbs loss from last week.Xx
I wonder if you are getting a winding down getting ready for retirement feeling. Lots to mull over … making you a bit more delicate.

I know its easy to say .. but just try to go with the flow at work …soon you will wonder how you did it so long.

How awful for your friend. Especially after what she has already coped with. So very sad. Hope you are feeling better today Sarah. Xx

Kay… Your pound is probably food in Transit. It all pans out in the end. Pardon the pun. Lol

You must be living on eggshells with all that’s going on. It is and has been very hard for you .. you haven’t had quiet calm time to yourself since that upheaval of the unexpected move bomb shell just before Xmas as well.

My heart goes out to you Kay. Hope that things do soon turn around for you. Xx

Fasting here today… starting with a 100 banana after Mr Pips walk. A long one today .. good boy yesterday while shopping. Lol

Go girls come on we can do this… an OXO …BOILED EGG… 10 ALMONDS… all will keep us going on our fasts. Its soo very doable. Summer coming . We can do this together… Xx

    Brit Lovelies…

Most of things in life are easy to lose, and hard to gain. Unfortunately, this isn’t in the case for weight…

Sym… I am sure you are disappointed but 2lbs can be soon gone. Xx

Best to keep trying different ways.. else it gets boring. Also its job to gauge if maybe our bodies have reached its weight.

We are all different and its not set in stone what that number should be..
You both have done soo well

We need to just keep doing what we know works adapting else it gets boring.

We will soon get some new Peeps… tends to drop off at this time but renews when it gets warmer and the need to show our bones. Lol

Mr Pip calls… then going to wash all my pots ready for a quick coat of “Wild Thyme” Xx

    Morning all,

Sarah, glad to see you’ve maintained. Sorry to hear about your friend and work related frustrations. It’s cathartic to let out our emotions once in while though. There’s only so much we can absorb.

Jean, maybe the calorie cycling will come good after a couple of weeks and it’s just your body adjusting.

Kay, that weight loss will come. Good to hear you a little more positive. Hopefully you can get your hair coloured soon! Maybe a little something for you is just what you need.

Tammy, a good night out is just what the Dr is ordering for me too, I have one planned tonight. Although I’m shattered from lack of sleep so reckon I’ll be crashed out by 10pm!!

Well, weighed in the morning. 1/2lb off by the skin of my teeth. It’s been so hectic that my steps have been up so I think that helped. Only 2 more weeks of this to go…. That’s 13.5lb off so far. I really want to push over the stone barrier.
Taking a half day off work today to travel down to my folks. I’m not sorry to say it will involve wine and food and letting my hair down, hopefully followed by a lovely long lie in tomorrow. I really need it.

Have a lovely day all. xx

    Morning everyone!

I had a good fasting day yesterday now no more until next week wahoo.

Good luck with everyone fasting or weighting today/soon

Sorry I rarely reply to individual people, I’m always posting from my phone and by the time I’ve read through every new comment I’ve forgotten who said what to reply šŸ™

    Jess x

    Hi Jessica,

Sorry I’ve not said hello yet. I’ve not been keeping up well the last week.

Don’t worry about the personal replies. It takes time to get to know people and then things will stick. Jean is organised and uses a phone and and ipad!

For me, if it’s on the same page I’m OK, but not good if the page turns! šŸ˜‚

    xx

    Hi Again All….

    Angela…
Have a lovely few days with your parents and a lovely lie in tomorrow. Enjoy the wine and food…lol…Mums food is always good…that’s what they tell me but I think it’s them not having to cook it…lol

    Jess…
Have a lovely few days off and relax you have been busy with assignments…..start fresh next week…

    Hemmy…
Have a lovely walk with Mr Pips then come back to your painting…have a good day fasting your small meals seem to be working….

Steve and I have been chatting…he said we are not as rigid as we used to be, although still doing 5.2 we are just flowing along…possibly maintaining which is good I suppose but not loosing. We have decided still to have our friday off today as usual and will continue with that.
We are going to really get back on board, ( I hope my book comes back today so I can re read it) think through what we are doing and eating, we both lead each other on at times….I have started my whole milk again which is lovely, I would like to keep that but also I am getting a pot of double cream every week this is lovely but that will be stopping.
I have bought more raw fibre this week to add to our food, it makes the calories go up a bit, I am wondering if it will keep you from eating as much. I have bought two smaller dinner plates from Asda, thanks Audrey on that. As Steve says it’s not the plates it’s what I put on them…lol…I think the alcohol needs to be limited to Friday and Saturday as we used to do, and special occasions or go on the waggon for a bit.

Sorry for going on but thought it better to make my case and you can hold us to it…šŸ˜€

    HI All

Jean – it’s good to write down your plan, isn’t it. You know I’m a big believer in getting the plan out of my head, through my finger-tips and then hopefully into some sort of real life…so now your plan is out there…good for you. Like you, I think, I’ve got half a stone to lose, and in theory, I had hoped to lose it by Easter, as that would make it a year of trying (not quite, Easter moves with the moon, but near enough!). That’s still 5 weeks away…is it possible to move out of maintenance and sift more than 1lb a week when I never really have? Well, clearly not by doing the same old. So I think I’m with Steve – not so much going with the flow. Portion sizes are not really my problem, but snacking is (is this the point where I confess to the bar of chocolate already consumed?!) Cows graze…I am not a cow therefore I DO NOT graze…not from now on.

    —————————————————————————-

    There’s my line!

BTW – thanks for the list of who we all are, Jean, useful aide memoire.
Jess – I never remember who to do personal notes for, but every now and again something will seem important in a person’s life, and the next few people will type the encouragement we all want to share – even if the posts have moved on.

Sarah – I reckon a good ‘bubble’ (as an old friend calls it) never does anyone any harm. Sometimes it’s the slightest thing that releases all the other concerns we’ve been womanfully carrying all along – sometimes it’s something immense like your friend’s situation, but in the mix will be work, our own relationships, the fact that we’re feeling for Kay and Ellie, and everyone facing the same sort of situation…and it all comes out (usually in a mess of tears/snot/mucus!). If you’ve the opportunity and space to let yourself go for a while, it will do you the world of good. Thinking of you.

    Morning all

Bit late today, been hectic in the office boss getting all stressy needing things asap – but it’s Friday so who cares lol.

Good fd yesterday although I spent most of the evening once Jacob was in bed sat on the beanbag next to the radiator – not only was it really comfortable for a tv binge but it was the furthest point in the living room away from all the chocolate, sweets and crisps. I think that will be my plan for the weekend too!

Sounds like it’s been a tough week for many of this lovely group, I hope everyone starts to feel brighter for the weekend.

Have a great day. Clare x

Just found this …Thought This May Be Of Interest Girls. Xxxx

Everyone knows that drinking water — and making sure it’s a substantial amount — is important for a healthy lifestyle. Water lubricates your joints,Ā protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues, andĀ helps to regulate your body temperature. This would make sense since 60 percent of the human adult body is made up of water. According to a 2013 Centers for Disease Control and PreventionĀ study, 43 percent of adults drink less than four cups of water a day, 36 percent drink one to three cups, and seven percent drink none at all.

When I first decided to start my own version of the ā€œwater diet,ā€ it was to improve my skin. I had come across a girl who saidĀ she drank 3Ā liters of water per day, and that it had cleared up her acne. I don’t have terrible skin, but living in a city, it’s easy for your skin to be affected by pollution, stress, and just the overall lifestyle of a fast-paced city.
    What I did
Every morning, I would get up and drink an 8-ounce glass of water. I did this an hour before I had to leave my house in case I needed to go to the bathroom. When I got to work, I filled up my 16-ounce water bottle and drank it through a straw. For some reason, drinking though a straw helped me to drink more because I would take sips without thinking. I had to fill this up six times per day to get the 3 liters.

For the first few days, I made a conscious effort to keep up with this, but after day four, I started to write down how many ounces I drank just to keep track. I ended up having to use the bathroom seven times during the workday and, like I did in the morning, I drank my last glass an hour before heading home outĀ of fear I’dĀ needĀ to make a pit stop while I was traveling.

    How I felt
I noticed changesĀ right away. After drinking so much water,Ā I felt a little more energized, and my naturally dry skin felt softer and suppler. I also felt like my constant snacking habits had beenĀ curbed. I still ate a normal amount ofĀ meals every day, but I snacked a little less. I also noticed that the pores on my face seemed to shrink. This wasn’t evaluated by a dermatologist or any other medical professional, however, so I’m not quite sure if this can be attributed to the amount of water I was drinking or something else coincidental.

    What I didn’t like
This answer might seem obvious, but having to use the ladies’ room so often can be quite annoying. I’m lucky that I work in an office with an easily accessible ladies’ room, but I wouldn’t suggest this to someone who is constantly traveling or who would have to search high-and-low to find the nearest restroom. I also didn’t like the fact that this didn’t come naturally to me, meaning it was very difficult for me to keep up with drinking the water. I had to make a conscious effort to make sure I drank the 3Ā liters. I’d do this even if I didn’t achieve the daily amount by bedtime — often, this resulted in waking up in the middle of the night to use the restroom.
If you’re curious, I’d recommend giving thisĀ a try to see anyĀ positive effects it might have on your body.Ā However,Ā be aware that overconsuming water can also be harmful — it’s not unheard of for it to causeĀ brain edema (swelling) — so check with your medical provider to determine what amount would suit your body best. Ā

Thank you all for your very kind comments cyber friends. A better day today. Feeling less anxiety ridden.

Angela, well done, nearly at that stone mark.

Jean I guess it is back to basics and we can all get complacent. You are so close to goal. I am sure it will come down but I can tell how slow it is even now with 16lbs left to go.

Hemmy, ‘wild thyme’ sounds gorgeous. I can just picture it, my sort of colour that and I like colour. I am not a neutrals girl. That bit on water is interesting. I am one of the 36% and at the lower end. I really do need to up my intake amd come to think of it my skin is not great. I really am going to up to it.

And this weeks resolution is no nuts for me. I am eating a ridiculous amount of them. They do count and they are not helping I feel sure. Xx

    Hi everyone

Tammy, your evening sounds great, and even more special when your club gets an award.

Jess, glad you’re still hanging on in there and FD are going well for you.

Sarah, nothing better than a good cry (so perfectly described by Minols). Sometimes it’s a good release for all the pent up emotion we don’t even know we holding on to. Hope your friend’s scan results don’t show anything untoward.

Angela, sound like you’re planning to take full advantage of your parent’s hospitality. Sounds like just what you need, particularly the lie in.

Clare, keeping away from the snacks seems to be a plan. Beanbag snuggled by the radiator sounds amazing.

Hemmy, I’m fasting with you today, but you sound far more industrious than I am today. Thanks for the post about drinking water, I really struggle but somehow now manage my 2L if I use a straw.

DF, what a pain when work gets in the way! Good luck with the 4:3 next week. I’m not brave enough to do b2b.

Jean, sounds like you’ve identified what the problem may be. I’m sure you’ll be back on track in no time.

Kay, Neil’s mum does seem to be a worry at the moment and she must be scared if she’s struggling to breath. Is she getting better? Just wondered if she was taking anything for her anxiety if there’s nothing she can for the virus. Hope Ellie is alright.

I’m busy today trying to find holiday insurance for Hannah (18 yr old eldest daughter) who is planning on backpacking in SE Asia in the summer, some countries with 2 uni friends then the Philippines on her own. Need to find some that covers cancellation/curtailment if there’s a change in Phil’s condition. I wouldn’t usually worry about her not being able to get home in an emergency, but she’s planning to go for about 7 weeks so better safe than sorry. I don’t know where she gets her adventurous spirit from, but I know I’ll be the ā€˜worrying mum’ at home.

Hi Sym… Only managed half the pots as its turned quite chilly here.. Did do a good 2 hr walk this morning and upped my pace.

Lol… had found myself meandering along so slowly. Put some effort in and strode it out like a good one. Lol Legs ache a bit after 4 hours in town with Mum yesterday.

She makes me laugh … Sat told her I had run out of mustard must get some Thurs … She said while I was packing in Aldi yesterday … did you remember about the mustard.

I replied as I often do… Mum why don’t you act your age of 90 … I cant even remember what happened this morning let alone something said on Sat. Lolol

She is sooo determined..Kristy says that’s where I get my staying power from. ..unlike herself who is bored/ gives up so very easily .

Sarah… think its a good thing to review what we are overdoing. So easy just to keep doing the same old .

Glad you are feeling better today. Xx

Lynne.. A worry when they go bag packing. Kristy did Australia at 18 before Uni.. WE had a call from the police out there one day as she had left her passport in a cafƩ. All was ok Never forget that. Lol

Hope your FD is going well .. a banana and 10 almonds so far .. feeling positive. Lol Keep going girly. Xx

    Hi All..

Had a nice chatty afternoon with the neighbour, she’s lacking a bit on 5.2 and she needs a boost from me….lol…and she didn’t bring my book back, I shall ask next time I am at her house…

    Hemmy..
Liked that about water right on time…..I never have any water only my 5 cups of tea a day….strangely I started this morning to purposely drink…I am only on my second pint but I have a long way to go. With me eating my Bran it tells me to up water.

I wondered what you were painting, is it the same pots again or different ones? Just tidying them up for the season.

    Sarah…
Glad you are feeling more yourself today….again you say ‘nuts’, I am eating seeds and almonds for fibre, I do count them….I only have a hand full never bring them to the chair!….ummm it’s a thought.

    Lynne..
These girls live exciting lives, we never had a chance….if you are looking for insurance I think it will be cheaper to go for a years cover than by weeks, maybe worth a look.

I wouldn’t worry at least they have face time now and it’s free with Wi Fi, she will keep in touch.

    Jean x

Hemmy…does water flavoured with caffeine county? !

Kids travelling…I work really hard not to be a nervous mum but when I imagine the boy doing something really adventurous at 18…well, I’ve contemplated buying a remote island, moving to it and convincing him that no one leaves home until they’re 30! Such a hypocrite given I got to go by myself on a train to London, on the underground, stay with friends I hadn’T met since I was a total, get put on the hydrofoil and picked up by a French family we’D met camping and stay with them for two weeks…and then do the journey in reverse when I was…12! What we’re my parents thinking! And when I left home at 18, I flew off to the US with a one-way ticket. No mobiles or computers in those days.

If I was blasƩ about being adventurous then I think the boy is going to turn my hair white!
