  • Morning all, sorry I wasn’t around yesterday- making the most of my only completely child free day. Ate & drank plenty and got a round of golf in which I think kept the scales from punishing me on my daily check in, weigh day tomorrow so fingers crossed 😀

Rare day today with nothing planned, hopefully a roast somewhere and probably more golf, boyfriend is still snoring next to me – there will be some comment about messing about online when he sees me on here no doubt!

Going to read back and catch up on everyone now, have a great day all. Clare xx

    Morning all
Still awake at 4 this morning my head couldn’t switch off after hubby returned home and filling me in on his family issues.

    Kay,
My final weigh in was was last Monday as I started on the 1st of January so in total 10lb lost JSJ. And I’m still in the camp!!

Gone over the page now but have read all the post.
Foot seems a bit better this morning mind you not got up yet.
    Catch you all later.
    Lynda x

    Morning all –

Had a lovely time at the theatre yesterday – brilliant show!

This morning I came in especially early to get my head back into things…left my pen-drive at home! Now awaiting the boy arriving with it, and hope I wake up enough to be instantly on the ball. Have a lunch meeting later, so I have my skipper soup with me, but I don’t think it’s going to be a proper FD, just a low day today, and a FD tomorrow, when I’ve got a load of visits to do.

Whatever you’re doing – have a lovely day, everyone.

    Mx

Morning all, naughty me has just got out of bed. I needed that sleep 😆

Jean, just enjoy your holidays and try not to worry too much about the food. We will push you when you’re back to lose any gain in no time.

Lynda, glad to hear your foot’s a little better this morning.

Minols, hope you get your pen drive soon. Have a good day.

I really need some motivation to get moving today and try to undo some of yesterday’s severe naughtiness. I reckon I came in around 2600 cals! 😲😂

So lamp shank, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes won’t help that today, but I’ll have something light for tea and stay away from the donuts (well, we ate most of them yesterday anyway!!😂). I think I’m going to fast Monday and Thursday this week, and stick to 1200 cals Tues and Wednesday and see what happens.

My parents are coming up for the weekend next weekend as they’re having a garage conversion done and are currently without kitchen completely (old kitchen transforms into a downstairs bathroom this week,) and it’s my Mum’s birthday so there will be lots of food and drink too. I need to compensate.

Aud, I might dig out my fitbit today if I can find it and join you in the walking challenges. xx

Fitbit is found and charging. I will try to still get in 10000 steps today but it might be tough given I’ve slept half the day away! 😂 xx

    Morning all

Had a really good FD yesterday and managed liquids only with 2 coffee’s and probably for the first time ever 2L of water.

Today I’m hoping not to go too mad and would like to see the weight on the scales stay until Tuesday’s weigh in.

Jean, enjoy the holiday and don’t worry about the food until you get back. I know how you fell as we went to Canada for a over 3 weeks a few years ago and I couldn’t wait to get back to simple eating, and that was even with eating quite a bit with family out there.

Angela, we all need a blow out sometime, but looks like you’ve got nest week planned already.

Lynda, I’m so glad hubby is home and hope you’re managing to keep on top of the pain.

I’m thinking of M, W, F as FD next week with 2 liquid only and one 500 cal. I think the 500 cal is probably going to be the hardest for me.

So, who’s on for Mass Fast Monday?

Hope everyone has a great day.

    Lynne x

    Hi Lynne,

How on earth do you manage FD’S at the weekend? That must take some serious willpower? I’d love to do one today but just wouldn’t get away with it with the family. xx

    Morning all,

    Back to my normal self.

Jean and Ian, just enjoy your holiday, it’s not easy, even their salads come covered in high fat dressing.

    Everyone having mostly busy days

Quiet one for us, very rainy day

Not fasting tomorrow, will try to stay low, but fasting T, W, T this week.

    Hi Angela

FD are not too bad on a weekend, the only problem is when I ask for meal suggestions from OH and daughter and they stare back blankly. It then feels like I’m reading from a menu for them, which I’m then going to cook, so I do sometimes politely remind them I’m on a FD!

If I do a weekend FD it has to be liquids only as once I waken the hunger beast there’s no stopping me. xx

    Morning all.
Well, didn’t manage a 2 be FD. I shouldn’t let my OH get to me but I think my mind is now programmed to react. I’m angry at myself.

    Kay
Thanks for telling me I still lost 9 lbs in January. I didn’t keep track and I do feel better for knowing. All is not lost.

    Audrey
I hope your kitchen is coming on at a pace and will soon be done. Just look through the mess and imagine how lovely it’s going to be.

Another family dinner today. I’m going American. Ribs, hotdog’s fries etc. Followed by Banoffee cream pie. The gran kids love dinners like this. I find those kind of desserts much to sweet for me. Prefer a piece of cheese really.

My hip is a little less painful today. I hope it’s a sign the cortisone inj is kicking in. I need to move more to help my weight loss but in this condition moving makes it worse so physio told me to rest. Unfortunately it’s difficult in my house to rest with my big baby bird chirping constantly for attention.

I’ve just read this back to myself and it sounds so ridiculous. Wow my life is in need of a make over. 😱😱😱
    X

Lynne, if I had to cook for my hubby on a FD I wouldn’t succeed I know it. So we each have ready meals those days. It’s working for me. Hubby has also lost 5lbs though which tells me something about my usual portion sizes too, as he’s still eating crap.
I did switch to smaller plates a few years ago but clearly I’m overloading them.

Carol, dinner sounds lovely. Ribs… Mmmmmm. Be proud of what you have achieved so far this year, without hubby’s support. You need to do what’s right for you sometimes. That includes resting up if that’s what the Dr has ordered. Hope your hip is better soon. Have a lovely day.

I’ve just clocked up my 1st 1000 steps clearing some debris from the garden, going to potter and clean for a bit to try to clock up some more.xx

Morning All..8am here and cloudy ☹️ Sun later.😀

Tammy no chance of salad or anything coloured here all their food is brown!!

I did find some at a buffet last night 😀😀but when paying for the buffet you tend to fall on the desserts as well !!😂 No booze yesterday I refused..crap wine not worth the $ were we where.

We did 11,500 steps yesterday ages since we did that..10 floors.. no wonder why Steves legs aren’t good.. shh we won’t say anything.

Hope your days going well have a good one.

Good day to the mass fastest tomorrow.😀😀

    Jean x

    Hi everyone!

I’m starting the 5:2 tomorrow as a last resort – I’ve tried lots of others but my weight has been creeping up over the last 2 years (I even did weight watchers for a year an put on weight!) and I’m now 9st 4lb. That may not sound overweight to some, but I’m only 4’10’ and used to be 6st 12lb in my twenties so my weight has increased by about 40% since then!

I did try the 5:2 a couple of years ago and couldn’t even get through the first day! I have zero willpower so I know it’s going to be a struggle again, but with the inspiring stories on this forum I’m hoping that I’ll be stronger and not cheat. My main worry is that I’ll feel really tired on so few calories and I won’t have the energy to do much exercise?

Hi all Quick post from me, I am here just VERY BUSY,… got girls here so not much let up… first words out the mouths were granny we are very hungry! Will get glad when mum finishes work you come and collect them..

Starting emptying cupboards in kitchen later today or tomorrow morning it’s all becoming very real now,

Welcome Jessie good luck with your first fast day.

    Audrey x

    Hi Jessie..
Welcome to our group we are a friendly lot and give out a lot of help if you need it…

Lots fast on a Monday so shout as there is always someone about…

I saw my old neighbour a month ago in Tesco so desperate to loose weight… she was on WW and not losing..we have done SW in the past together and every diet going.. she has lost 13 lbs so far.. she is over the moon… she has just text me and said it’s so easy and not a diet, she didn’t expect it to work.

Good luck but keep joining in for support and chat and get to know us.

    Jean x

    Hi Jessie

There’s lots of us do FD on Monday so you’ll be in good company. I’ve only been on 5:2 for under 3 weeks and have found it surprisingly easy.

Shout if you need help, and good luck for tomorrow.

    Lynne x

    Welcome Jessie
Just make sure you eat 3 low cal meals a day to start you off 25g of porridge soaked in water overnight and quarter teaspoon of honey is 97 cals and Covent Garden soup tomato and basil 98 half a carton sometimes have the other half for tea. Good luck on your first FD

    LYNDA X

    Hi Jessie and welcome.

I’ve only been doing 5:2 since January. It’s not a quick fix at all and weight loss will be slower, but you will lose and there’s an amazing amount of support here.

Some ladies do liquid fasts only, I personally cope with 2 ready meals each day. It will take some time to find what works best for you.

It’seems amazing what everyone says about weight watchers, my SIL has been on it for about 8 years and has lost only about a stone. Personally I’ve had great success with slimming world but it’s too restrictive to fit in around my work.

We’re here to help you through tomorrow and every day thereafter. Are you prepared for tomorrow? Have you decided how you’ll do it? xx

    Hi all and welcome Jessie

Jean, the eating healthily side of your holiday sounds quite tough but it is for a limited time only and at least you’ re getting a lot of exercise. It is only for a short while and I am sure you will be on a mission when you get back.

Have Mr adorable grandson number 2 here. He has just gone scooting with my OH leaving me to tidy kitchen after our baking marathon. Double choc cookies and little cakes. OH has put one aside and the rest are going home with him. He loves doing it and is so excited taking his baking home with him. Feel like I have spent the whole weekend in the kitchen but it worth it. Very happy with the marmalade which I had to sample this morning…purely quality control you understand.

Jessie a lot of people manage on just a couple of meals or even one at the end of the day, keeping sugar and refined carbs minimal and find that a bit easier and less hunger inducing. It is just a question of finding the way that is right for you. What I can say is that hunger comes and goes, it doesn’t just keep building so there will be tricky bits of time but you can get over these by distracting yourself as best you can. Good luck.

Carol your American themed meal sounds totally yummy. We will be having lamb stew and a lot of cabbage later plus a jacket pot for OH. Not very Sundayish either.

Have a good night everyone. Goodness the weekend zooms past! Xx

Just taken myself off for a walk. No one wanted to join me. I clocked up 60 minutes of active time and burned about 300 cals and did 6000 steps according to my fitbit. I’m up to 8500 so far so I need to potter a bit more to get to target today.
The fresh air has done me good and burned off some lunchtime calories and stopped me sitting in the sofa picking at food. I must try this more often.

Sarah, sounds like you’ve had a busy but productive weekend. Of course you had to sample the marmalade. 😆 xx

    Morning all

FD today after a huge carvery yesterday! Weighed in this morning and lost 1.5 lbs – that’s 9 in 4 weeks so a really good start 😀

Have a great day! Clare x

Morning everyone 🙂 Just been catching up with weekend posts.

Welcome Jessie, I’m relatively new to the group too, its wonderful! Lots of support and encouragement when you need it 🙂

    I’m fasting today, Monday again!

Drum roll please … I’m down another 2lbs! I wasn’t expecting it, as I’d had wine over the weekend. This plan works SO well for me. Loving it 🙂

Have a good day, and stay strong xx

Morning Clare. Well done on your 1.5lbs off.

    Who’s joint mass fast Monday?

I achieved 10,000 steps yesterday with the help of a few goes round the garden! 😂 Let’s see what today brings.

Have a good day everyone. xx

Well done DF on the 2lb off. X

    Morning, heavy frost herd Brrrr.

    Well done DF and clare

Good luck to those fasting, I am not but going to try and keep it low.

    Catch up later

    Xxx

    Morning all

Wow! Well done guys on your weight loss this week my weigh in too lost 4lb this foot op is doing me good.

Hubby just bought me tea in bed and said he set up my breakfast tray down stairs with porridge ready to pop in micro when I get up going to do a mass Monday fast.

    Catch you all later
    Lynda x

    Morning everyone!

Thanks for all the comments and words of encouragement for a newbie. I start today and pleased to see that there are so many who do Mondays too.

My plan is no breakfast, then go to my art class which will distract me all morning, then lunch of homemade veg soup, and plain white fish and lots of low cal veggies this evening. Sounds OK on paper, but I know its going to be tough, so I’ll let you know tomorrow if I made it!

The great thing about this forum is that because so many people want to support and help you, I think it might be easier to resist temptation – but we’ll see! Good luck to everyone if this is your FD. xx

    Morning everyone

Well done Clare, DF and Lynda on your losses this week, I hope to join you when I weigh in tomorrow.

Had a really stressful day yesterday when I took my daughter back to uni and had a puncture on the way back. Fortunately it’s only a few miles, but I found myself with a flat tyre, no money and no bank cards. I managed to get some change from my daughter to try and inflate the tyre and got hold of my brother who came to help sort the problem. When I got in, the first thing I thought was that I wanted a treat of some sort, or a glass of wine, but even though it was a NFD I settled for a hot coffee. I really hope this means I’m beginning to manage my emotional relationship with food, well once anyway.

So today is MFM (Mass Fast Monday) and I’m joining you all, with hopefully a liquid only for me.

Good luck to everyone for today, whether FD or NFD. Come on Jessie, you can do it.

    Lynne x

Lynne, that does sound stressful! I drive every day, but wouldn’t have a clue what to do if I had a flat tyre … reading your post made me realise I need to learn! I’m so lazy when it comes to car stuff .. I just get in and drive lol.

    Good luck with the day!

Jessie .. we’re with you! Stay strong 🙂

    xx

Well done Lynne on your weight loss. 4lb is fabulous.

Jessiecat, you sound well prepared. Like others have said, you can feel hungry but it soon passes. Try a drink at those times and see how you get on.

Lynne, well done on resisting the wine. Changing habits is key to any long term weight loss.

    xx

    A frosty morning here today.
It’s a FD for me to. There seems to be lots of Monday fasters.
Welcome Jessiecat, you’ll soon get into a routine. Don’t forget that if you don’t manage a FD just do the next day instead, it doesn’t matter. That’s what I love about the 5:2, it’s really flexible with no pressure.

    Dragon Fly
Welcome and well done on your weight loss.

    Lynda
4 lbs is amazing, bespecisklyhope as your laid up after your foot surgery. I hope it’s improving.

    Claire
Well done on your weight loss.

I’m not losing, I’m just hovering with 1Ib up and 1Ib down, day to day. With the holiday coming up its going to have to be damage management.
As hard as I try my OH is still eating eating cakes, bread biscuits etc and still drinking lots of alcohol despite being told he is now diabetic with an abnormal kidney function test. When I try to get him to eat better he gets angry. As he spends his day angry, Ive decided just to carry on as normal and leave him to it. I’ll cook whatever he wants now. I’m actually past caring, he’s a big opinionated boy. I know it sounds harsh but the years of living with it have hardened me. 😬😬😬

    Morning All…

Lynda.. well done on your 4 lb off.. hard going when you are just sitting.. hope your foot is feeling better…

Clare and DF.. well done on your losses..

Audrey .. hope alls going well with your kitchen soon be finished and looking great..

Hemmy.. hope your weekend went well with mum and Kirsty..

Sarah.. I make lemon marmalade, it’s usually yummy… must make some more.. SIL usually steals my jars and begs for more 😂😂

Lynne.. what a nightmare with your car…something we never thing about..

Jessie… have a good fast day.. remember grumbling tummy means your body is eating your fat! 😂

Have a good mass fast day.. I am missing it.

We are driving out to the east coast today, brunch and dinner…

    Jean x

    Morning all

Well done Lynda, Df and clare on your loses…

No fast day today am off out for a meal later with my hubby!

Kitchen fitter has rang it’s all systems go for next Tuesday…Ian has been stripping wallpaper this morning… Will be glad when it’s all finished and clean…

    Audrey x

    Hi all,
Well done on the weight losses, looking good 🙂

My weight is up 2lbs from the weekend, but its ok Im joining in with the Mass Fast Monday, so nothing for me until later and just a light meal this evening.

Looks like a busy weekend for some of you and a chilled out day for others 🙂

    Welcome Jessie 🙂

I’ll show you the beach we made in January in a bit 🙂
And start off the list of FBB members, which Im sure will need some tweaking…lol

It will go something like this:

MEMBER NAME – NAME – NOTED FOR POSTING ABOUT/THINGS ABOUT THEM
    Kay65 – Kay – Fluid faster; walks a lot; pebbles/beach challenges

    🙂

    Evening all,

Well another successful fast under my belt. I coped through to tea again and just had a 290 cal meal.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

How are you getting on Jessie? xx

    Evening all

Well done Clare, Lynda and DF. Great stuff!

I have had another very long and difficult work day. On the plus side I have fasted fine. Apart from not enough liquid. I really need to drink some water and have a hot bath to cheer and warm me up.

Jean, lemon marmalade…sounds yummy, hope your hol is fab.

Have a good night everyone xx

    Hi lovelies,

Soz not been around. Hubbie had a few days off after India so had a little down time which has been lovely 😊😊💗.

U r all always in my thoughts everyday, so even though I am not here I am always rooting for u all.

I’m gonna ave a break for a week or two. I’m still exercising and eating healthily. But I’ve stopped wearing my fit bit. As I want to see if I can take control of maintenance on my own…..does that sound stupid. Going away to Cheltenham next week. Have rented an apartment and hubbie and I r going away for valentines for a number of days. Just gonna enjoy my achievements and have a bit of down time.

I’ll be back in a few weeks. Hopefully the same weight as not gonna ruin all my hard work. Xxxx

Love u all. Yr support and encouragement have been amazing 😉.

    Love Louise 😊😊😊😊💗💗💗😘😘😘😃😃🤗🤗xxxxx

    Hi Louise,

Glad you’ve had some much needed downtime.
I think it makes perfect sense of trying to maintain without tracking, you want to find a way to do this naturally.

I don’t know where you currently live, but my family are all in a small town just outside Cheltenham. Hope you have fun. xx

    Afternoon All…

Audrey… lovely you can see a light at the end of a tunnel now… enjoy your meal out …and your lovely kitchen..

Sarah… my lemon marmalade is made boiling whole lemons in the pan a strange recipe.. I then sliced thin strips of lemon skin after it’s made if wanted…well done on the fasting if it’s been a heavy work day..

Angela… well done on your fasting and the one meal 😀

Louise… enjoy your time away and down time with hubby.. I think you are doing the right thing and seeing how it goes..

Carol… leave him to it.. only he can try and lose but doesn’t want to..

Just think of yourself, the pound up and down there are a few of us like that.. it all settles down.. keep going. 😀

Kay…. I am often up over a weekend no worries as long as it’s not weigh in day..😬

Are we making our list soon??

We have travelled to the east side Atlantic coast today.. very beautiful… Steves has come down with really bad hay fever, bushes around the pool I think.. his eyes and nose streaming 😟😟

Sleep tight all, we will be going out soon for a meal.

    Jean.

    Morning all

Sorry I missed the Mass FD yesterday…I was doing it without knowing!

Well done Clare, DF and Lynda on your losses this week…I know I’ve missed some, sorry!
Carol – I know what you mean about hovering +/- 1lb…let’s re-package it and call it ‘trialling maintenance’! I go on holiday at the weekend for a week of hot chocolate and chips, so I may try ADF this week to minimise the damage done this month…which is oh too short to fit everything into.

The old boy got home from the vet last night…so lovely to have him curled up, snoring away, having dream-chases every now and again. He takes a while to get himself upright, but once he’s got his back legs under him, he’s not too bad. Two weeks of peeing in the garden only, though, no going out on walks. So we’ll see how he takes to that.

    Catch you all later.
    Mx

    Morning all

I just wanted to thank everyone again for all the support I got on my first FD yesterday. I managed to get through the day ok although I think I may have gone slightly over the 500 cals – but I didn’t cave in as I would have done in the past! I’m sure that’s because I feel I’m not alone on this journey – that makes such a difference.

The hunger pangs were there but as Jean said, a grumbling tummy means your body is eating your fat! I’ll imagine that every time I’m tempted!

My biggest problem was sleeping – Surprisingly I didn’t crave food but the hunger pangs kept me awake for a long time. But the upshot is that this morning the scales showed a one pound loss so I’m Happy! I know some of that will probably go back on today but It’s enough to encourage me to do the next FD on Thursday.

Well I will just finish off my yummy bowl of overnight oats and get ready for work. Good luck to everyone doing their FD today. xx

Good morning F B Brits hope all is well with you and yours. Xx

    A big welcome Jessiecat Xx

Hope everyone enjoyed the week-end … we did naughty but nice. Tired now. Lol

Just weighed in and stayed the same.. so pleased with that. Onwards and downwards.

Busy today.. catch up tomoz Xx

    Brit lovelies…

Starting today, remember the choices we make today can affect our tomorrow so lets think before we act, before we do and before we don’t. Learning along the way. Xx

    Morning,

Minols so glad your dog is getting better.

Fd for me, first of 3 (hopefully), failed on my low day yesterday, nothing new there.

    Have a good one

    Xxx

Good morning 🙂 sounds like everyone did well on their fast day yesterday! We’re so strong 🙂 I am still so quiet at work, so its really testing! I feel if work were busier the days would be so much easier, but at least I’m getting through them. Had lots of tummy rumbles yesterday for sure.

NFD today, but plan to keep it low. Managed a workout before work, so feeling good at the moment, despite achy legs lol!

Its my birthday today, I’ve brought cakes and chocolates in for my colleagues. I’m going to be strong and resist! Its funny, I feel it would ruin the good work I’ve done so far, and I want to keep it going 😛

Have a lovely day my fellow brits .. as ever, thankyou so much for the wonderful support xx

    Morning all

Well done to everyone fasting yesterday, especially @jessiecat. The first FD is always daunting, but it gets easier when you know what to expect.

@minols, so glad the family are back together. Our dog hates being at the vets and makes such a racket we can hear her at reception when we go to pick her up. It does usually shorten her stay though as we often get a call earlier than agreed to pick her up.

@jean, poor Steve. I suffer with rhinitis and the sneezing exhausts me. Hope you’ve got hold of some antihistamines.

Yesterday was a great FD for me, still sugar free and nearly hitting the water goal. Today is weigh in and I’ve been rewarded with a 3.7lb loss this week. So in the 3 weeks since starting this WOL I’ve lost 11.3lb. My BMI is now under 30 and I’m ecstatic!

Losing weight has been a real challenge since being diagnosed with hypothyroidism 14 months ago, and I managed to lose 2 stone with calorie counting, but as my meds were tweaked the weight would go up and down.

I’ve still got 2 stone to lose to get to a healthy BMI and probably 3 if I can manage it to get comfortably in range, but this is the first time this goal has seemed achievable.

Thanks to everyone for all your help and support and hope you all have a great day, I know I am!

Sorry DF, just saw your post, happy birthday!

    Morning all

Finally went out for ians birthday meal last night…. I decided on the bacon cheese burger Ian had a mixed grill.. then I had chocolate fudge cake… this morning I feel 😵😵😵…. been awake half the night with tummy ache…. never having cake again…. the food just tasted greasy and it’s a really nice restaurant… I just cannot do fat anymore!
Happy birthday DF…hope you have a hood day despite working..
Jessie well done on your first fast day..
I am doing a fast day today as I just feel like I never want to eat anything again… lol

Back later when I have recovered…

    Have a good day all

    Audrey 😵😷🤒😩

    Morning all

NFD today, had a good fd yesterday and am trying to go through til lunchtime today before I eat.

Happy birthday Dragon Fly, have a wonderful day x Well done Jessiecat on your first fast, you have proved to yourself you can do it so it only gets easier from here!

Another boring day in the office for me & it’s really quiet in here today so it will drag. Boyfriend coming for tea tonight so something to look forward to at least.

Have a great day everyone. Clare x

Happy Birthday, DF – enjoy your celebrations.

Just checking in after awarding myself a coffee break. Working from home office for the first time in ages, so I can keep the dogs company and make sure the younger one doesn’t annoy the older one. Ever wondered what your pets do while you’re at work? Well. I can confirm my suspicions about our two…they SLEEP – the lazy bums. Seriously, they’ve not moved since the boy went to school!

From one side the old boy looks completely normal…from the other side he has the neatest shaved patch, from should to hip along the spine, 6inches wide, with a row of staples down a reddish line. His coat is 2knuckles thick so this is going to take a while to change! But the vet has done such an amazing job and is so neat, I think I’ll get him to do any surgery I need in the future!

Anyway, enough of dogs. Hoping to not go overboard today, and keep things reigned in this week as a whole.

BTW well done Pasha on your brilliant loss!

    Mx

    Hi All

Sorry not time for individual posts or even to read those that Ive missed. I will be a bit hit and miss for a while, taking Pam for a scan today. Scan is a long drive away from where she is, it takes me half an hour to get to her. We are bringing her home for a few hours to miss the traffic as well.
