Hi all – nearly through my cals! Had children’s chicken and chips at Tesco – they’re getting used to me always ordering 2 children’s meals now. MORE than enough, feel nice and full. And just topping it off with a coffee and a wee children’s chocolate bar…I’m sensing a theme! Are we really providing meals for children that are all an adult should be eating? My portion sizes have been really skewed all my life, I think!
So, I’ve had enough to satisfy me need…just have to sit on my greed for the the rest of the evening – literally, given that my posterior is probably largely (!) there because of my greed! ANd once I’ve walked a few more miles, I will indeed spend my evening sat upon my greed/posterior for a good few hours and then walk back again. Saw a shooting start last night…would be nice to see one again.
Old dog doing well – you’re all so kind to be concerned. Vet hoping that by this evening they can take him off the methodone and put him onto something less ‘hardcore’ – poor thing might have to make do with ibuprofen like the rest of us. (Ed. other pain relief brands are available!)
Have a good evening, everyone – especially if you’re doing the hard hours of the FD…stay strong.

Hi all
I finished my marathon walk yesterday so today I have started a virtual tour of yosemite today lol… boy it looks lovely… just wish I was there in stead of blustery crewe lol π..
Friday fast day tomorrow for me before the weekend off… we have wall tiles to remove now !!…
Back later
Keep strong all who are fasting today, nearly over now…
Audrey x
Evening everyone
Quite a stressful day today. Good in a way because have not had time to think never mind eat, so I guess this counts as a fairly easy fast day.
Minols, pleased to hear dog on road to recovery. Methodone does sound hardcore!
Carol, hope you are feeling a bit more positive. Not as easy as pulling yourself together when you have various physically or emotionally painful things going on. Would it help to think back to just a few weeks ago when you were really going strong and feeling very positive about it.
Ginette, you’ve done so well in the past, really proved it can be done. I am sure you will succeed with it again when you are ready.
Tammy, you and I have lost virtually identical amounts. I have 2lbs to go to two stone. I am weighing tomorrow too. Fingers crossed for us both. You really deserve a good result with 4 FDs.
Cookie, enjoy those yummy sounding peppers. That harpoon WILL be missing you!
Stay strong anyone else fasting today. Have a good night everyone xx
Thought this was interesting as I know some of us have trouble with sleeping.
From Margo Author of Good Sleep Guide. Xx
The five foods you should eat before bed:
1. Bananas
Although generally considered an energy-boosting food, bananas are rich in magnesium which relaxes muscles and they also contain serotonin and melatonin, which encourage sleep.
2. Almonds
Known as a great source of healthy fats, almonds are also bursting with tryptophan and magnesium, βwhich both help to naturally reduce muscle and nerve function while also steadying your heart rhythm,β according to Margo.
3. Honey
Just one teaspoon of honey is enough to stimulate the release of melatonin in the brain and shut off orexin (which keeps us alert), thus helping you to wind down.
4. Oats
As well as being yet another food rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids which promote sleep-inducing melatonin, oats encourages insulin production and naturally raise blood sugar.
5. Turkey
One of the most famous sources of tryptophan, turkey is also a great source of protein and will make you feel full.Β
Evening all.
Got to the end of a FD finally. First ived managed in 3 weeks. 5 lbs up unfortunately. Will try another this week if I’m able.
OH had his annual health check and it’s not good. He is now diabetic and his kidney function is impaired. It’s pretty much what I expected but as usual he’s just talking about changing his lifestyle and in a week of dieting his way he’s gained 1 lb. It’s just made my life much harder than it was. I’m willing to help but he doesn’t accept his way of eating and drinking is the problem. So things have been difficult and I’ve gone back to emotional eating again.
Audrey
I’ve had 2 migraines in 3 hours today and my head is still pounding. I’m not sleeping and I am stressed. I also started a nasal allergy spray so I don’t know if it could be that. It’s been awhile since I’ve had one.
Hemmy, caspexy
Thanks for your support. I really need a kick up the bum to remind myself I can do it.
Off to bed, goodnight all.
Carol well done on your fast, don’t worry about the 5lbs you will sort that out when things settle, I can only imagine about what your having to go through/put up with from your hubby, they always know best!!!, and of cause it’s never their fault. Hang in there xxx
Sarah, good luck for tomorrow, I have never heard my stomach rumble quite so loud, roll on tomorrow.
Night all xxx

1lb loss for the third week running. Last week I did 3 liquid fasts and this week did 1 liquid fast and one fast of about 3/400 cals, so I think for me that is quite conclusive. Quite happy with this rate of loss.
Kay JSJ total is 6lbs (target was 8lbs).
Target for Feb is 4lbs down as I have several family things on this month including my niece’s 21st celebration weekend.
Good luck to anyone weighing or fasting today xx
Morning all
Well done Sarah
Audrey you maintained, so that’s good.
I almost had a total melt down, scales said I had actually put on 2lbs!!!!, I was like that so cannot be right, so I stepped on again and they registered a 4.5lb loss, so double checked and again 4.5lb loss, so am going with that (do you agree?)
Scared me out of pancakes, am having cereal.
So that means I hit my jsj target and passed it by 3lbs, but need to look back at my starting weight, but I think it was 10lbs I had to loose, so that would be 10lbs this month, which is fantastic, I will check it layer, but please correct me if I have it wrong.
Have a great day all, good luck to the fasters, happy weigh in, to those still to do it.
Tammy xxx
Quick post today. Good luck to everyone fasting! Its Friday π Stay strong xx
I managed to get through mine yesterday, evenings are so tough, especially when I have a 7 year old tucking into his yummy food early evening. I held strong though, and ate within my 500 cals.
So glad its almost weekend. I’m exhausted this week. Its more tiring when work is quiet than when I’m run off my feet! Crazy really.
Have a great day everyone, I’m sending positive vibes to each and every one of you π
df xx
Morning all – Friday at last!
Also my first child-free weekend for 4 weeks, bit of a double edged sword really, never like being apart from my boy but really need some time to myself, it’s normally every other weekend he goes to his dads so the last 4 weeks have been looooooooong!
NFD today & just as well as I’ve come into the office today and someone is celebrating a birthday so there is bound to be cake.
Have a great day all, Clare x
Good morning FB Brits hope all is well with you and yours. Xx
A much brighter day thank goodness.
Gine .. so lovely to see you back and posting up recipes etc. Thank you.
Hope you are not run too ragged with hospital visits with Pam and of course all the worry all that entails. Parking and so on top of the trauma.
Take care Gine of yourself and try to stay with us. The trainer would be good again. Something for yourself to focus on. Xx

Min.. Hope your doggie continues to mend. Xx Enjoy your day. Xx
Aud … good luck with Fasting today… Stew and dumplings in mind for laters. Well done on maintaining this week. Xx
Carol … you have a lot to contend with mentally … I am sure its not an easy task coping with someone negative … in denial on a daily basis.
While things are especially difficult for you… just worry about your health more than the weight loss. Try not to overload yourself. Try to keep thinking … My time will come. Stay with us Carol … keep talking to us it all helps. Take care great lovely. Xx
Sym Sym Sym… shorts and all. Lolol.
Wow can just imagine you in that sunshine state. Have no worries about anything but enjoying the holiday … it will soon pass only to soon.
Big suntan… red lippy … white jeans .. bright red TShirt big sunglasses here we come. Lol Enjoy … Sym and Steve. xx
Sarah.. Another lb lost … bites the dusk. Well done girly. Xx Yes… the lb a week is a good guide I reckon. Even very other week is fine too. We can all does this together. Enjoy your day Sarah . Xx
Dragon…Thank you for the vibes…Xx… It must be challenging catering with a 7 year old . Lots of tasty little left overs for the taking I am sure. Lol
Think that must be one of the hardest things to get past. Lol
Well done with how you at doing. Every week gets easier. Tastes change.. Everything gets sooo much sweeter to the taste buds. Plus stomach shrinks.
It all doesn’t happen overnight … but we never put on overnight either. Lol
Yay we have and can all do this together. xx
Clare… Enjoy the cake and the week-end.. Nice to have a little Me time to recharge. Xx
Hope everyone else is doing ok. Xx
Brit lovelies… You don’t have to change that much for it to make a great deal of difference. A few simple disciplines can have a major impact on how your life works. We can all do this together. Xx
Morning all
So into day 3 without sugar and still going. FD was alright yesterday but no sugar may be harder today with a NFD.
Carol just keep going. Don’t worry about the weight loss when battling stress, lack of sleep and your painful hip. You sound very frustrated with your OH, hopefully he’ll come to the realisation that his way of doing things isn’t working. Just focus on yourself.
Really great to hear from Jean on hols, I’d love some of that winter sun.
Ginette thanks for the recipes, I need all the help I can get.
Slowly beginning to get to know you all.
Hope you’re all having a great day.

Hi all,
The forums been busy again whilst I was away. I got back late last night. I did weigh this morning but didn’t like the answer! π I was going to try to fast until teatime today to see if that shifts something but I was so hungry I just had some porridge.
How’s everyone doing? Sarah I saw you lost 1lb, well done.
xx
Quick post – meant to weigh yesterday but forgot (!). My final weigh in the JSJ is…a stay even! Sorry Kay, I’d hoped to lose another pound or two. My scales ALMOST stopped at a pound under…but didn’t, so I’ll stay honest, and just go with the number of pebbles I’ve told you about, and my current weight of 11stone. So keep me good, everyone – I said I wanted to go in and out of February at the same weight because I’m away for a week in the middle, and we all know what that means. Of course, I’d still like to lose that pound or two that would mean this year is largely starting with a different figure (!) but stable is better than my alternative.
Mx
Hi all!
Not sure where the last few days have gone!!
Ginette, great to have you back π Sorry to hear that Pam is in hospital. Dont worry about the weight, draw a line under it and remember that you can do this way of life, so join back in π
Lynda, hope that foot isnt giving you to much hassle.
Minols and Audrey, like me, you maintained this week, which is fine π
Well done Sarah on your pound, you are still chipping away at it π
I have felt better this week and less hungry on the day after a FD, so overall my NFDs are better balanced. I maintained again this week, with having 1 meal of 300-400 cals on my 2 FDs and I also maintained last week with just the calories for a splash of skimmed milk in 1 of my coffees on each of my FDs, so no difference.
So I might keep my FDs as they have been this week, maybe convert 1 of them into a fluid only if I feel like it, but definitely no food during the day and if Im going to have food, just the one meal and max of 400cals. I still know that eating something in the day will trigger my appetite so its a no-no for me.
My aim for JSJ was to get back to my lowest weight that I registered in December, which was 9st 12.5lbs but I didnt quite make it. Im 10.1 so thats my focus in February…..3lbs at least….onwards!
Tammy, well done on your 4.5lbs!! I must have missed one of your weigh ins as that takes you to 11lbs on my list, but not to worry Ive adjusted it to 13!!
Jean, glad you managed to pop in! I cant believe you and Steve arent fasting!!!! Only joking π
Gotto….glad you’re back. Sorry those scales were mean to you this morning, maybe they will be more friendly tomorrow π
Hemmy…where abouts do you live?? You said this morning it was nice and bright?! Its been horrendous here all day in the SW! Hope you manage to stay in control this weekend, at least a little bit π
Clare, did you enjoy your cake? Make the most of your weekend π
DF, well done for resisting picking at any food whilst your son was tucking into his dinner whilst you were on a FD!
Carol, has that injection made any difference to the pain you were in? Sorry to hear about the other pain is still there, aka your husband! Just stay strong and focus on yourself and your own eating. He hasnt been supportive of you, so no need to go out of your way for him. Its his body he’s ruining and he wont listen to you anyway. You have us to help you get back on track and build up that confidence again! Ive adjusted your pebbles but you had loads to fall back on as you lost loads at the beginning of the month.
Almost the end of JSJ, just a couple of weigh ins from people left and then we have finished our beach!! We have done better than in Nail it November!! π
Kay x
Hi Lynne… you are doing so well cutting out the sugar. Will be interesting to see how much you lose in a week. Maybe follow Louise’s footsteps. Xx
Aud… do be careful with the back. Lots going on for you at the moment. Enjoy
the girls. Xx
Tammy … well done you. That is a brilliant achievement for Jan. Onwards and downwards. Xx
Min you have had lots going on since Christmas… so good to stay stable. Xx
Kay… you sound like you have got your days sorted. It all takes time to find what suits us. We are all different.
I live on the edge of 4 borders … All within 30 mins Oxfordshire…Northamptonshire ..Warwickshire.. Buckinghamshire. My nearest town being Banbury.
Thank you so much for doing the January beech for us. Especially with all you had to contend with. Very much appreciated. Xx
PS… Kay… Sunshine and warmish till 2pm then rain. Lol
Evening everyone
Tammy, great job – soooo brilliant in January. Not only have you got to 2 stone, you’ve made a good inroad into the third!
Hemmy, small world, I used to live in Leamington Spa for a long, long time. Have a lovely weekend with Kristy.
Angela, don’t worry it will start going again. I am sure travelling like that leads to water retention and difficulty with food choices through tiredness.
Kay thank you for your great beach work for us.
Well done to everyone who has maintained. I guess the lower you go the harder it is to register a loss! I reckon maintenance isn’t going to look different in terms of eating to the losing phase for me. Don’t quite need to worry about that yet, sadly.
I am making marmalade tomorrow. Limbering up for retirement lol! Although I used to make it years ago when I was young, but not for ages. Daughter has a yearning for it and it is the right season. Spending this evening preparing the peel etc, a lovely rhythmic job, and will make it tomorrow. (Life on the wild side eh..) It is a Nigel Slater recipe, very thin peel, soft texture and quite tart, just the way I like it. Though obv for daughter really…
Have a great evening everyone even if you’re not doing something really exciting like cutting thin strips of orange peel xx
Morning all
Had a good fast day yesterday but still no weight loss!
Removing kitchen tiles today and if we have time starting to empty the kitchen cupboards. The kitchen is looking a mess at the moment not sure what the girls will think.. have decided to play it easy and get a take away for lunch tomorrow…
Back later
Have a good weekend everyone keep in touch remember together we are stronger
Audrey x
Morning all.
I’d set this morning as my final weigh for JSJ and this week I lost nothing. Better than what I was staring at yesterday. And I gained nothing either.
According to MFP I lost a total of 7.5lb vs a target to 10lb.
I’m really a bit disheartened. I know I had some wine whilst I was away but my eating was really good, I made much healthier choices than I would have done
had I not been doing this and I had no Belgian chocs π
Anyway, I’ve currently got no flights booked for this month, so hopefully I can push ahead.
My target for February is to make my weight start with a 10, currently I’m 11st 6.5lb.
xxx
so I’m just catching up on other news.
Sarah, well done on 1lb loss. Yes travelling can be hard and with the tiredness. Also, I’m not sure doing 2 consecutive FD’S is right either. On 6pm on day 2 colleagues noticed I’d gone funny round the eyes, hence the sugar hit I had Tuesday night. I’m going to split them up as much as possible and see how that works.
Tammy, well done on the 4.5lb loss this week and overall an excellent loss for JSJ.
So I joined the maintainers this week. At least it wasn’t a gain.
Aud, I wonder if you’ve been building muscle with all the removing on tiles and walking and that’s why you’ve maintained?
I hope everyone else is OK. xx
Good morning F B Brits hope all is well with you and yours. Xx
A bit of a grey day so far at least dry. Will be muddy walking. Lol
Sarah.. what a small world indeed. I was born in Leamington Spa hospital on Christmas Eve. Lol Mum lived in a village nearby.. Moved to this area when I was 2.
Like to go shopping to Leamington.. we love the charity shops and they are brilliant there. Same as Strafford upon Avon.
Hope the marmalade goes well … bet the smell in your kitchen is wonderful today. Enjoy the day. Xx
Aud… good you have stayed the same during all the upheaval… especially kitchen. Enjoy the day with the girls tomorrow and take away … sounds a good plan. Xx
Gotto… don’t be too disheartened. Xx That is still a good amount to lose. Sometimes weight shows after a couple of days later than expected.
Look at it another way with eating chocs etc you could have put on. Enjoy the week-end. Xx
Gine … how is it going with you. Xx
Carol how are you today. Xx
Graham … Vi .. how is it going. Xx
Sym and Steve hope you are enjoying the holiday. You are missed Xx
Everyone else have a lovely week-end. Kristy arriving at noon till Monday. So be back then…. After McDonalds … wine … crisps.. chocolate. Lolol
Do hope I am joking as weigh my very lowest today.
Brit lovelies…
Goals to be achieved are like a maze. There is always a way through to achievement, though it is never straight and easy.” That’s us girls and boys. Xx
Morning all
Well up out of bed today downstairs sat in the chair feet up still in quite a bit of pain can’t remember my other foot so painful following the advice leaflet hopefully the pain will ease.
Had 3 very low cal days so rar this week hopefully weigh on Monday nothing in the house to tempt me purposely didn’t buy it as I won’t be mobile for 4 weeks so didn’t want to add to my weight.
Have a lovely weekend
Lynda x
Morning all
Hemmy, nice to be at lowest weight, enjoy today. You quote for today is great.
Audrey, what a lot of work for you. It will be worth it and I am sure you will be delighted when it is finished.
Angela, that is a great loss for January! Sometimes you do just have a week when the scales don’t register it but over the month you have lost an average of almost 2lbs a week which is fab. My main issue with b2b, apart from the difficulty, is that I wouldn’t want that long without the restraining effect of a FD.
Hope everyone else ok. Have a lovely Saturday all xx
Hi Hemmy,
I love the quote, so true.
Mmmmmm, McDonald’s, I could just do with one right now. Hubby hasn’t got footy today so maybe we’ll pop out after I’ve had my nails done and just relax this afternoon.
It’s been a really crazy and long week work wise trying to onboard an important new customer. I need a day off dieting and stressing. lol.
xx
Morning all
What a night I had, no sympathy please, it was self inflicted, needless to say that I should have known that bad food choices the day after 4 fasts, would result in a bad time, how ever I was not prepared for the 6 hrs of total agony and gut renching trips to the toilet, never, never, never again.π’
Audrey, you will soon be there with the kitchen.
Audrey well done maintaining, I couldn’t do it if I was travelling.
Lynda glad the foot is healing.
Hope everyone has a good day, I am away shopping, going to pick euro’s up for my holiday in April.
My plan now is to just try and get another stone off before I go, so I can go a bit slower, but it will be a bonus if I get more.
Xxx
Morning all
It’s a lovely sunny day here in Cardiff which always makes me feel more positive and a bonus as today is FD.
I weigh everyday as I hate a weekly surprise, and this morning I’m 0.4lb down on yesterday, even with a NFD. Yesterday was a bit of a stressful day as well as OH had a hospital appointment and as he needs wheelchair transport this meant we were out for two and half hours, but his consultation only lasted 10 minutes. It was so much easier when I could take him in the car as the hospital is only 15 minutes away.
Still going strong on sugar free, for me it’s always easier to abstain than restrict.
Tammy, I overindulged in sugary snacks following a FD last week and whilst I managed to stay out of the bathroom, I felt quite unwell for most of the day.
Lynda, I’m glad the foot is healing, but hope you’re managing alright on your own. Hope you manage to keep on top of the pain.
Angela, I’ve never been able to maintain when working away and can’t believe you resisted a Belgian chocolate.
Audrey, we had a new kitchen few years ago and whilst it was really exciting, living without a kitchen was hell. I remember living in the lounge with a fridge freezer and microwave for a couple of weeks with everything in boxes around the house. I had to wash up in a bowl on top of the washing machine and had a tap sticking out of the wall. My girls couldn’t wait for it to be completed to get the boxes out of their bedrooms. It’ll all be worth it in the end.
Hope everyone has a great day. FD for me today, then I think I’ll try M, W, F for a few weeks.
Lynne x
Morning all.
There’s so much going on and I’m so behind with it all. A few new people, welcome to you all.
Attempting a second FD today. Don’t know how it will go. Going on an all inclusive cruise next week so it’s going to be difficult. With my anxiety about the flight, fasting will be difficult.
Audrey
Hope your kitchen revamp is going well. Mines 12 years old now and tired.
Don’t know what I lost in total for January but I did lose some even after going haywire at the end. I think overall it’s not been a bad January for most.
X
The tiles are gone hip hip hooray….
Absolutely shattered now… house is full of plaster dust… I now need to get my Polti out!
I think the kitchen knows it’s going as I opened a cupboard door earlier and it fell off!! Hehe lol…I said couldn’t you wait another week!!
Ah well had a sit down now and I better go and get steamy…back when I can…
Aud x
Audrey, that made me chuckle about your cupboard door!!
Carol, you have still lost 9lbs this month, so keep that in your head and try for a couple more before your holiday! Is this in one with your grand daughter?
Pasha, Im the same as you, I weigh everyday! I need to keep a check on things although I dont panic too much at the sight of the regular fluctuations π
Lynda, glad you are at least out of bed, even though you are still limited to what you can do. Are you doing your final JSJ weigh in on Monday?
Sarah, did you make your marmalade?
Hemmy, hope you havent gone OTT already with Kristy! π
Tammy, that sounds like a dreadful reaction…..Ive never had that happen π
Angela, hope you are enjoying a chilled out day after your busy time.
Typically my weight was 0.5 down this morning, the day after weigh in…lol…lets hope I maintain that and add to by next Friday.
Ive had a nice walk this afternoon, albeit a bit muddy, although nothing like Audreys virtual marathons! Maybe I should sign up for 1 of those too π
Nothing planned for this evening, just a relax and aiming to go to bed at a reasonable time as my bodyclock is totally out at the moment….awake in the early hours and sleeping in late. :-/
I think its time for a roll call to see who is still here on the thread, now that we are into the year properly….some who joined us at the start of the New Year seemed to have drifted off, but I guess thats the norm anyway. We seem to have lost a few from last year too π Or maybe you are there in the background but not posting….
I will start compiling a list of peoples names, so if people are still around in the background, drop by with a post so I can add you into the list π
Happy weekend everyone π x
Hi Kay, I’ve had a lovely chilled and food filled day. Calorie counting has been non existent and I have no regrets (Until tomorrow probably). π
I see a few of you walk, I think I might take myself off for one tomorrow, get some fresh air. I want to start sorting some stuff in the garden ready for spring. My snowdrops are starting to poke through. When do you think it’s safe for me to start pruning back by roses and things? They flowered through to December so didn’t get chance to cut them back before the frosts.
Lynda, hope you’ve been OK today and the foot’s not too sore.
xx
Hi Everyone
Vi, so nice to hear from you. Hope you are ok. Still doing loads and loads of fast days I see xx
Angela, just asked OH who is something of an expert in these matters. He says don’t prune til beginning of March.
Kay, yes the marmalade is done and I hope it is nice is all I can say. What a palaver. I didn’t start it til late which didn’t help as we went for a lovely walk with daughter and our dogs.
Have a good evening everyone. Off to try to remove the last vestiges of stickiness from my kitchen. Just in time for grandson number 2 tomorrow who will want to bake cookies. Xx
Evening all
Stomach feeling better, but still not a 100%, kept things light for most of the day.
Angela, I wasn’t out last night, just ate stuff I should of known better not to and severely paid the price for it.
Did a bit of shopping bit basically had a really lazy day and hopefully the same tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Tammy xxx
Hi All..
Still popping by and checking up with you all.
A quiet day for us today, have done a fair bit of walking and Steves legs are a bit tired and sore. Resting again tomorrow before out and about on the east coast Monday.
The foods a nightmare, chips, chocolate, muffins, waffles, fried stuff and wine..I keep having a paddy as its all unhealthy, no salads and bloody sweet stuff for breakfast ππ my waist is expanding!
Very expensive here Β£13 for a small wine ( not nice) and half beer. Β£80 a day on food for 2 !! The exchange rate is taking its toll!
I see a few have stayed the same this week and well done on the losers..
Louise will be proud I have been looking at keep fit gear but will go to Castleford junction 34 when back… quite keen ππ I will need it.
I see the tiles are off..marmalade had been made.. bushes might need cutting back.. McDonald’s with Kirsty.. no more flights this month..foots still been rested.. a roll call being done.. I am still here..doggy is getting better ..Vi is back….cookie baking again…take away for Sunday…all very busy. ππ
Have a lovely Sunday…
