Hey everybody
The sun was actually out today! It was aFD for me, so I had strawberries and watermelon for breakfast, and half a “cous cous meal salad’ for dinner. The other half is for tomorrow. So, the students are arriving back on campus – and as we are kind of living in student housing – it’s done with the relative peace. I’ve spoken to my dad and we’re going swimming Wednesday.
I hope you’ve been having nice weather as well
x Vi
PS: Jean, happy your daughter is ok. Karma is a powerful thing
Hi Vi,
Missed you today…
Glad your FD has gone well and your swimming booked in for Wednesday. We are going tomorrow hoping it’s not full of children, Steve is taking his float for leg kicking and I will be doing lengths.
My elder daughter has just told me three weeks before the school term starts the baths will then be quiet.
X
Hey guys,
I never know how much to post. You all know each other very well, and I kind of feel like I’m intruding.
@ Jean and Steve
Hydro-therapy can really take it out of you, I should know I’ve done it for years. I hope for his sake -and yours- it will be nice and quiet tomorrow at the pool.
@ Audrey
I really like mango in there too, but alas, I didn’t have the calories to spare π

Hellooooo all!!
Im finally back home after being away for 2 and a half weeks, travelling around.
Today Im doing a 36 hour fluid fast to have a reset and I’ll see what the damage is on the scales in the morning!
I will try and catch up on recent posts but I think there will be too many to read!!
Hope everyone is ok. Look forward to seeing how everyone is π
Kay
Vi,
Come and pop by as you want, I was like you 8 months since if you don’t join in you are always on the side line, we only get to know each other by talking. More the merrier…only if you want too.
Kay..
Hope you have had a lovely holiday…and fingers crossed not too much damage done. If like the rest of us we put on a bit but holidays are holidays.
Soon back on track. A few of us have been slipping but looks like we are at last being good.
Nice to have you back
Jean x
Vi, like symba said just keep joining in, the more the merrier and this only works when we share…
I am glad to see so many people back was beginning to get worried sometimes no news is not so good!
Kay welcome back, hope the scales are kind, I am up 10 lb. ..
Lynda I have already said on the Facebook get well soon, you know how to contact me if you need me.
I am off to bed soon because my 1st fast is going very slowly and I am struggling. ..
Keep in touch everyone it’s true what I say together we are stronger!
Audrey
Hi Audrey
I don’t blame you, having to dye hair is such a pain. I hope you got through the day. As I was out until late I only had a slice of bread from a wholemeal small loaf and half of the salmon that was left from lunch so all good, not expecting great things tomorrow though, ankles very swollen with this hot weather.
Hi Jean
Glad he came back safe and sound. I hope you lose a lb. my friend found her phone and she was glad of company on the ride. It was about a two hour round trip.
I can see there are posts over the page to I may post again.
Oh my…..all those other posts.
Hi Vi
I hope your day went well, you really sound as if you are enjoying this.
Hi Kay
Welcome back, good luck for tomorrow.
Hi Lynda
I hope you get better soon, I must catch up on Facebook. I don’t really use it though. As Jean says low calorie meals will hopefully keep you on track.
Morning all.
Loving this late burst of summer!
The boy is back at school tomorrow, and while life will still be busy, and least I can be a little more single-minded in my work.
In the middle of a wee run of NFD (next FD on Thursday) and enjoying not feeling like I have to binge all the time to make up for FD. Yesterday I remembered reading back in the early days that feeling hungry is nothing to fear…so when I had the odd pang while waiting for a meal, I didn’t instantly dash for junk, but let myself feel mildly empty for a while. Sounds silly, but I quite enjoyed the feeling…it made me feel in control and there was a bit of a buzz about that!
Enjoy the weather, everyone.
Mx
Morning All,
What a wonderful day…I think we may have a breeze and not as hot as some. Take care the people with high temperatures.
A small peek at the scales this morning, looking good a pound down, I am working hard so hope it pays off. My poor toes are not good this morning, took painkillers which I don’t like to do. It could be the heat or my 10,000 steps of yesterday π¬..it’s just an off day for them!
We are swimming this afternoon, we like to swim across lunch time but trying to avoid the children’s! Hope to get back to swimming twice a week, more for Steve to strengthen his legs and back.
Ginette’s
Glad you found the phone and cards, it’s a worry good job she remembered were they where. Still the ride kept you off food..lol
Audrey..
Nice to see some movement in your weight 2 lbs is good…it might not of got too comfy after your holiday!..lol…you always get it off quick hope you get some more off before official weigh in day..fingers X
Minols..
Your boy is going back to school early ours are back early September. Glad you are getting back into a routine and fitting your fasting back in. You must be always so so busy…keep off the custard creams..lol
Lynda..
Hope you are soon feeling better soon, I think I may of missed it on the way…sorry…hoping your hubby is getting sorted also.
Kay..
Glad the holiday went well. 36 fluid fast that’s hard going, hope it resets you and you have a good result this morning…these holidays do get in the way of things….it’s getting back on track is the nightmare…
A slow morning for me..soaking my toes..a bit of TLC
Jean x
Hi Mino
That is early to be back to school, personally I can’t wait, not because I mind the children making a noise playing, I don’t. The neighbour above me shouts (and swears) at her son over the balcony that is above my bedroom, she does this any time of the day including mornings. As I don’t sleep well not good for me. I also don’t like really bad language, never had and I’ve not grown up with it. I don’t watch programmes where they swear either. My new our thinks I am a prude, I tel him my parents and grandparents never swore, why should I? My son doesn’t either.
I wish I could feel more in control
Hi Jean
Well done on the 1lb off, I am not moving but I didn’t expect it, all the time this warm weather is here I think it will remain the same as well, food wise I’m better but I can’t say really good.
I think summer is going to be a bit like that for me. Looks like a hot one here, I was going to do something for Pam in the garden but maybe too hot to do that.
Try Audreys cure for soaking feet xx
Audrey
Well done on your 2lbs off, looking much better already. Xx
Hi all
Cant believe it..just half a pound up from going on holiday!!And I definitely didnt stick to my diet whilst away.
So Im almost the same as I was 3 weeks ago….happy bunny!
My fat % is up but hopefully that will settle now Im back to fasting.
Warm day here and I need to attack the garden, so that will keep me busy.
Jean and Audrey….well done on the weight loss…we are getting there π
Jean I hope your poor toes feel better later.
Wave to everyone else and welcome Anna…plenty of advice on here when you are ready π
X
Good day all.
Weigh in today but have stayed the same. Nothing lost but nothing gained either.
Considering its been an up and down week that’s not bad.
It seems some of you have also had mixed results. Welcome to our new forum members. I hope you get into this way of eating, it does work but slowly which is better in the long term.
I’ve been spending time with my daughter as shes having further problem post delivery. On antibiotics and now waiting for a scan. She has recently changed doctors surgery and the difference from our previous one is amazing. Its a marathon to get an appointment at my practice.
Well its sunny and warm here. My first thought was get the washing on the line. How boring am I. Enjoy the good weather today.
Thank you Kay65 π looks like you enjoyed your holiday!
@caspersmum, I thought the exact same thing this morning with the sunny weather. Do laundry and put it on the line! What’s wrong with your daughter? π Hope everything is okay.
A question: Do people aim for the TDEE or eat whatever they want on non-fast days? π
Anna
Welcome to our group.
My daughter had a baby boy a month ago. She had complications after the birth and was rushed to theatre. Wont go in to detail but it was traumatic. A month on shes having more problems and needs a scan. I’m sure she will be fine but I’m spending time with her to help out with her other little boy.
I’ve lost nearly 3 st but I’m an emotional eater and this past month my weights been up and down. As much as you tell yourself no its hard when the urge comes.
I eat what I want on non fast days within reason or else its back to a stricter diet.
Hope it works for you.
Afternoon All…
Just got back from swimming…Oh it was hard, 28 lengths and not many children! It’s very hot here too much to sit out.
Audrey..
I have bought my Epsom Salts from B & M…toes settled a bit I made them do more walking..lol..
Ginette..
You aways hold on to the water in hot weather, maybe you will show a loss at the end of week when it’s cooler.
Cmum..
I have been the same for two weeks at least you are not up…looks like I am on the move again. Hope your daughter starts to improve she’s going through the wars, hope Louie is OK and well.
Kay..
What great news on your half a pound up after 2 1/2 weeks away, you must of put a lot of exercise in and be so pleased with yourself….wish we all could be like it after a holiday….lol
Anna..
Welcome to our corner. Have you bought the 5.2 book to read? It puts you on track and it makes you understand what it’s all about.
On my non fast days I eat about 1200/1300 calories or a little more. I always have Friday’s off and eat what I want, a meal out, glass of wine and maybe some chocolate.
A few of us have 2 X 500 days and throw a 800 day in as well. It’s best to stick to what the book says to start with. Then after a few months and some weight loss you can then tweak it to what works for you… like a lot of us who have been doing it over a long time, we all do it a bit different.
Well washing my swimming towels then my white towels are to go in…can’t waste this lovely weather.
Jean x
Oh Jean…wish I’d read your custard cream reminder when you posted it! Devoured a pack of biscuits today and feel so rough. I can’tell abuse processed sugars like I used to. Sitting here while the boy has his swim lesson swearing I’M off sugar forever ( not fruit, just sweeties and biscuuts) as I not only feel ill but it turns me into a vile grouch ( as opposed to normally grumpy!).Have called my husband to tell him so he’ll hopefully help me stay on the straight and narrow.
Ginette…like you, can’T bear bad language. Just find it unnecessary, especially in front of or from kids. In extremis…well, I get that, but constantly either because people live at that ‘temperature’ or conversational. ..well, I’M just not used to it. I have two favourite and expressive swear words but I know that if I’M starting to use them a lot then it’s time for a holiday…any excuse for a holiday, eh?!
Mx
Hey everybody
Still sunny today, wow I feel so blessed …lol
Another FD for me today, but this one was a lot harder. I don’t kknow why my stomache is acting up one day, and the next is totally fine – when I’m eating the exact same thing (but I’ve had this problem ever since I was little, so I don’t expect an answer or solution. Some days my digestive system wants to push things up rather than down. Frankly I was sort of hoping that if I ate less, I would feel better, but this just does not seem to be the case. I’m down today. The people that work here whom get along with really well are both on holiday, so I guess you guys will just have to deal with me π
@ Jean. Wow 28 lengths well done! How did Steve do, by the way. Was he exhausted?
@ Ginette. Yes well, as long as I keep losing weight, but it’s hard people with my disability usually burn 5000 calories a day, because of the spasms. I am not so lucky but I have always had that ‘spastic’ appetite. so shall we say enjoyment is relative. I just try to focus on the positive when I post here
@ Cmum I hope your daughter is doing better
@ Anna. Hey. Welcome! I’m new as well. And on NDF’s I eat whatever I like, in moderation, and within my fitnesspall TDEE of 1200. I hope you settle on well.
@ Minols I really hate it when people go off on their kids as well, and I too get grumpy when I don’t eat as well as my body would like (say 2500 cal) so I know what you’re going through
Can anyone tell me what a custard cream is?
Have a nice day
x Vi
Hi Vi…
Steve did well, we was in for 50 mins ( I swim slow..lol) he had his float so kicking his legs, twisting his hips and walking in the water. Trying to improve his muscles.
Custard creams…my favourite as well…it’s a biscuit with a creamy middle..tastes like English custard, I don’t think you will have it in Holland. Minols has them in a tin in her office for other people to eat….but I think she eats them all her self!…lol…lol π
X
H Anna
Welcome to our corner, I rarely eat up to the TDEE I think that is too much. I prefer to calculate calorie allowance in my fitness pal, far more realistic.
I am sure you will soon settle in, have you much to lose?
Hi Kay
What a brilliant result, you must have been active and fairly good whilst away, nice to have you back.
Hi CMum
Sorry that your daughter still isn’t well, a scan will hopefully identify any problems. Nice that you are busy helping, I hope they are getting you to run around with them, all good exercise.
Hi Mino
I hope that puts you off of biscuits, I say thins in a nice way as I would like to be put off a few foods myself.
I agree, no need for it.
Hi Vi
I agree I love to see the sun and so far by keeping out of it I have stayed cool, there is a nice breeze with it.
Hi Audrey
Thankfully I didn’t see the custard cream posts earlier. Good luck for tomorrow. I have decided that Pam is partially to blame for the food I eat. I came away with a lamb shank which she got out of the freezer and also 2 burgers that she cooked tonight and would have ended in the bin, the left over vegetables…..and my neighbour gave me some chicken for the cats. Almost a whole one, only 2 drumsticks missing. My son asked if it was free range, I told him I could that hardly ask that could I?
I also have a shopping delivery tomorrow with mostly healthy food. Some treats, a lot will now need to go into the freezer. Pam is very wasteful with food, I also gave left over potatoes, no cooking for me for a couple of days. Tomorrow I shall gave salad with some of the cats chicken as it is fast day.
…..oh and all your talk of ice cream I gave some coming tomorrow a block as I have wafers in the cupboard.
You, Jean and Steve are obviously enjoying yourselves today.
Hi Jean
You are busy, swimming sounded good, I used to do 24 so, you did loads, I hope it helps Steve. Xx
Goodmorning everyone, thank you so much for the warm welcoming!
@caspersmum Iβm so sorry to hear about what happened. It sounds like such a stressful and difficult situation βΉ I hope she recovers soon. And I understand, Iβm an emotional eater myself. I can consume large quantities of food after a very stressful day. It happens sometimes, as long as itβs not an ongoing thing. Congratulations on having lost 3 st, thatβs a great achievement!
@symba7 Thanks! And that sounds great, I like the idea of a day off. So far what I have done is have 1300-1400 everyday, with the occasional slip up. And it has helped me stay at a stable weight, since I donβt have to lose too much. About 4-5 stubborn pounds to fit in my clothes a little more comfortably. I havenβt bought the book but I shall now.
@vikathy Thanks! I use MFP too. I think I will be eating 1400-1500 on my off days, following my TDEE too. Itβs the amount that I feel most satisfied with too, which is funny.
@ginette Thank you βΊ I will be sticking to a bit below my TDEE where I feel most comfortable with, which is 1400-1500max. And will throw in two fast days of 500, and if I manage an extra day of 800. I honestly donβt have too much, about 4-5 pounds. Itβs those stubborn pounds. And since my work involves a chair a lot and Iβm completing my Masters, the chair has been my best friend lately. Not good for the tummy! Iβm looking forward to start exercising again from September, when Iβm finally free from 24/7 work everyday ._.;
hi, sorry cannot reply to everything as currently away at mums
but hope everyone gets through the day ok, and Audrey, hope your hosp. appointment goes well
Vi – prince biscuits are oh yummy, but custard creams don’t have chocolate cream in the middle, they have a white creamy centre
must stop or will want to go and buy some
I am still not feeling great
lots of leg/low back aching and tenderness and tiredness
the low carbers all say its lack of salt/potassium but I don’t know
I have increased my intake but no change
really struggled not to turn to biscuits yesterday, and its getting harder
oh well, better have my early morning broth …. eww
Morning all
Thinking of Audrey today hope things improve after this treatment. X
Well staying on low cal days most are under a 1,000 so no FD for me until I get things sorted.
Weigh in tomorrow hopefully lose some of the weight I gain when I sent my scales on holiday never again lol
Welcome to our newbies
Lynda
@keeptrying I’m sorry you are feeling low π how long have you been low carb?
Good Morning All,
A cloudy start today, hope it improves.
Scales are still looking good this morning, hoping this pound stays off for Friday weigh in…about time for some movement.
Looks like I have lost Steve for a few days, messing with his bike fitting his extras back on. He’s has got up with his garage clothes on…boys toys!
We know we have done some swimming this morning…a few aches here and there…toes still a bit sore. Think I will take some ibuprofen see if it helps and another soak in my toes in Epson salts.
Ginette…
You did make me laugh sharing the cats chicken..a real chuckle. Pam does seem to waste food she buys too much for one is possibly her problem …then she off loads to you. Your neighbour sounds the same.
I must admit the swimming was really hard going, it must a couple of years since going regularly….Thursday is pencilled again.
Anna…
I think it would be good to buy the book as you will understand there is more than the weight loss it has a lot of health benefits.
It’s these last stubborn pounds which won’t shift..I have about 9 lbs to go and they are sticking like glue….lol…..I have lost 25 lbs up to now over 6 months.
KT..
Enjoy time with your Mum…how is she doing?
Maybe a soak in Epsom salts might work for you, I am doing my poor toes..Audrey was saying it may help. Hope you soon start to feel better.
Lynda..
Hope the weigh in goes well tomorrow…you was very brave sending them on holiday! I am getting into trouble as I am jumping on nearly everyday, I usually do twice after a FD but seeing there’s movement I am getting excited..lol
Audrey..
Thoughts are with you today, missing your morning post. Hope it works well again for you xxx
Talking about naughties what we have hiding in corners..I have..just checked for you all..
8 magnum type ice-creams
1 box of luxury all butter cookies..with stem ginger
1 box of luxury all butter cookies..with White choc Belgium chunks
I packet of Amarettini biscuits
1 packet choc digestives
4 bars of large Aldi chocolate
I still have my Xmas almonds covered in toffee ( like what you get in Spain) these are so lovely.
All unopened…not touching them….I just lookπ …. π
Room for thought……have a nice day
Jean x
Hey KT,
it seems like we’re having the same kind of struggle with our bodies though it comes from a different place, so I know what it feels like to have your body sabotaging your efforts. It’s really disheartning, isn’t it?
I know prince with white filling too, but I will shut up aboout it now π
My trouble is more with savoury things like chips, cheese, fries, meat… you know all that good – bad – stuff
Today is my last FD until Sunday, and I’m happy that I will be able to eat some crackers tomorrow, and macaroni for dinner. yum!
It’s still sunny, so that’s good, but some student threw a pavement tile through one of the windows in on of our communal area’s – basically two small livingrooms with kitchens attached – It was at night so nobody was up and about, but still. Who does that and why?
Hope everybody is doing well.
@ Anna, wow you’re almost there! I know what’s it’s like being stuck in a chair, I’ve been in an electric wheelchair since I was 4. I’m happy you will be able to get out soon. But people keep saying things like; excessive sitting is even worse for your health as smoking is, and I find that really discouraging. I thend to get these “why do I bother” kind of thoughts. Does anyone have any advice?
x Vi
