  • Vikathy,
I started on January 2016 with 163 lb. Today morning scale’s verdict was 136.8 (my lowest so far, and this is after fasting day). Usually my weight is yo-yoing, so I use average per month to determine the true loss. So far my “true loss” is 23 lb. 🙂

For me it is too hard to limit myself to 500 cal, so I do 36-hour-liquid-only fasting (water, tea, coffee – no sugar or milk). Somehow it is easier for me than count calories. When I start eating, I just cannot stop. 🙁
Sometimes I “cheat” with cup or two of low sodium chicken broth for diner time with tea spoon of miso paste and sprinkle of nori or other sea weed. Very feeling and so little calories.

Good luck on your journey. 😀

    Hi Jean

Well done on not giving in to temptation.

    Pizza

Well done on your loss, don’t worry if it slows a bit now though. I know other people who would rather not eat than eat a little, we have to go with what works for us as individuals.

    Hi Coldpizza,

Yes, well done! Especially since it’s been so hard for you. I hope everything keeps going well for you. Are you still updating your Personal Story

    =) Vi

    Morning all.

Going to attempt a 3rd FD this week. Not managed it in the past but things have slowed down and I’m so close to my next goal marker. Will have a distraction today as all my grandchildren are coming round for a craft play day. Will be paint everywhere no doubt but they love to get messy.

Tried the Heck sausages that have been recommended and they’re not bad. Planning to baked them with beans and tinned tomatoes and peppers, sort of like a stew. Will let you know how it goes.

Sun forecast for us today, hope everyone has a good day.

    Hi CMum

Good luck on your fast day, I must admit I used to do three a week but I actually found more success doing 2 and and 800 calories day so I hope it works for you.

I love the Heck sausages. I just have mine with omelette and tomatoes if there are any squashy ones.

Very quiet here without Audrey, nor sure why you are quiet Audrey I hope all is ok and Jean who has limited Wifi.

Here is an article that shows that stress can add weight. It increases the adrenaline that causes sugar spikes leading to the need to eat food, of course we tend to eat unhealthy foods and then get stressed about it, hence that treadmill we find it difficult to get off if we get stressed. One for a lot of us here including you KT if you are looking in. Sun shining here.

    Hi All,

Going through to Whitby this morning for a walk around.

Weigh in this morning the same for me.. Steve up a pound.

We are both pleased as we have eaten a fair bit, biscuit cake, merlot.

We are out for a meal tonight.. Friday off!

B in law out of hospital and needs a pace maker a different problem but linked.

Hope everybody is ok, back tomorrow and I will read up on posts

    Jean x

Symba, well done on no gain. Good to hear BIL has made such good progress….. Stuart was in for a month. A couple of things that have helped Stu are the mirror therapy box from Amazon and different grade of power putty. Stu had 100℅ lost his left side to start with but he’s got most function back now…just some weakness that shows up more when he’s tired/over does things.

    Hi Jean

That’s good news about your brother in law. Have a good time on your last day.

    Hey Cmum
Hope those sausages work out for you

Hey Ginette, I feel like it;s quieter too

It’s a grey day, sort of drizzly, but it’s a normal day for me so I had crackers and some soup for breakfast. Have a good day everyone
    x

    Hi ginette

I am still here… gearing up ready for coming home… I know I have blown the diet good style this last couple of weeks so am hoping to get back into the swing next week.

Back in hospital in Wednesday for next back treatment. Fingers crossed it goes ok.

Will let you know when I am home.

    Audrey

    Hi Jean

Let’s hope that is the only gain of the holiday. Good news about bil. Looking forward to your return tomorrow. It has been quiet with limited texts from you and Audrey.

    Hi Vi

Don’t worry sun is around the corner.

    Hi Audrey

I am getting back on track now, slowly but surely. So I shall be ready for a better week next week as well.

Not long until Wednesday, it will soon be here.

    Too hot today for me.

    Coffee

Are you feeling any better? Did you go to the doctor?

Well didn’t do the 3rd FD. All my grandchildren came with their mums so I had to feed everyone which put me off track. No matter, Iv’e had 2 good FD this week anyway.

    Ginette
I think the 800 cals might be a better option. Will give it a try, can do it tomorrow.

Knee not good which has affected my hip which is now giving me the most pain. I can barely walk sometimes. It really gets me down. Surgery is my next option but I’m a coward.

    Early night I think.

HI all. Feeling like the holidays are well and truly over now I’ve been back a week, and the schools restart this coming week. A little envious of some of you who are still away! Especially you, Jean – I have fond memories of childhood holidays of long ago spent running around a campsite on the cliffs above Whitby, of counting the steps up out of the town, and of eating Seabrook (?) crisps. For some reason we only ever got them in Whitby, although now occasionally I see them in the supermarket. Oh, the good old days, when summers were summers, and I could carry off a lime green striped bathing suit (I was 7, I could carry off anything – I had no sense of style!)
    Have a good weekend everyone.
    Mx

I’ve been quiet due to the fact that my introduction to fasting required 100% concentration !
I enjoyed the experience so much, that I actually did 3 FD’s @ 400 calories per day ! I’m sure that I will revert to the original 5:2 concept, but I just thought that the additional day would kick start the weight loss.
I also exercised on my FD’s; a mixture of Golf and Swimming.
I’ve tried a multitude of diets in the past, but the concept of a lifestyle that allows me to eat normally for the majority of the time excites me. Alcohol, and in particular Beer, has been my downfall in the past, but I went for a few beers on my NFD yesterday, and I incorporated the calories into my TDEE.
I would point out that prior to me starting the 5:2, I had 3 weeks of a Weightwatcher based diet, and lots of exercise, which resulted in me losing 21 pounds. It was also a 3 week period of alcohol abstinence.
Listen to me; I must be coming across as a raving alcoholic !!!! Lol. In reality, I just enjoy a few Beers, especially when the Football season is in full swing, which just happens to kick off today !
I’m actually considering a FD today, but even if I don’t, I have a Golf competition today, which will ensure a decent level of exercise. Apparently a round of Golf can consume around 1400 calories, so it’s not to be sniffed at.
Here’s hoping I haven’t bored the pants off you all. Have a nice day folks 😀

    Hi CMum

Look into the knee surgery as in a lot of cases they do keyhole now, a much better option. I can under seam you being reluctant though. It depends how bad the pain is.

Regarding 800 I really enjoy those days it seems so much better than 500. Yesterday was a bit more like a 600 day for me but I am getting there.

    Hi Mino

Yes it’s a shame that the memory of holidays seems distant so quickly. Nicer to look back on memories though. Days with my grandfather were what I like to look back on.

    Hi Paul

You seem really quite determined which is good, do you have a lot left to lose? We have had people here who have cut alcohol right down to the weekend who have found a big difference. I imagine that you will get a chance for swimming next week in the hot weather, depending of course whether you swim in the sea of a pool.

Golf is really good exercise I hear. I play it twice a week in my living room with my neighbour. The Tiger woods masters version on the Wii. 🙂 not quite as much exercise here though…..

    Enjoy the football.

    Morning all
Well scales are back and there’s a gain of 3lb so as of today getting back to it with a FD not eaten as yet so hopefully a low cal day. Going to keep it low cal weekend to see if I can get back on track.

    Hope everyone is doing ok.

    Lynda

    Hi all

Got home safely. Busy washing and unpacking. …will post again tomorrow. …

    Have a good weekend everyone

    Audrey

    Afternoon All,

Back safe and sound, unpacked and first wash just finishing!

We enjoyed our 5 night break and the site was lovely and quiet, just on the edge of the village, first time here but we will ge going back. The wifi and no phone signal a bit of a pain.

B in Law, home now he has a bit of blurred vision but should go by the end of month. He is slim and very fit for 73, plays a lot of tennis. He has taken a 75 gr Asprin for a few years and that has saved him from having a worse stroke, he now has to up the amount of Asprin.

Our meal out yesterday was very good and we had lots to eat on our ‘day off’, merlot, Guinness and beer, chocolate, although I was ok Steve had a terrible night…he thinks our stomach has got smaller and can’t cope….he isn’t going to eat all week!!!!

Just got a call off my daughter in states…
6 more hours of rain due..all houses flooded in her street..she has 5 foot to go before it enters her house….a one story house…she has got the suit cases down ready to pack…she is beside her self..I am so upset….they are going up and down the street in boats rescuing people..

    What a year…must go

    Jean X

    Jean

What a month you are having…hope things pick up soon.

Do hope your daughter and family are ok and keep safe. Such a worry when you are so far away… my love and best wishes to you both will say a prayer tomorrow for you.

    Aud

    Hey Jean

As Audrey says; everything seems to be happening to you. You have my sympathies. Good luck!
    x

    Just a up date..

Her neighbour next door has two foot of water in her house and she won’t leave, she is in her 80’s and there’s another two old people who are in the same position. They are struggling with the boats as she left it too late.

My daughter has rung her son to come and help to get her out, although the authorities may have to make her!

My daughters cars and two children have gone two house up the hill but she still has her two year old with her. Everybody is helping everybody. It’s got worse these last two hours.

The river is 18.50 feet above normal, it’s over 100 years since its been so high…the weather forecast is raining until Wednesday when they say the river will go down.

I am all up tight…looks like I will be mopping out next week…but hope not.

    X

    Blooming heck jean!!

Let’s hope you don’t have to pack a mop…. hope weather settles down and the rain eases…

    Aud ❤❤

Audrey…have you seen pictures on FB and Ginette xx

And there’s alligators in the water…😬

    Hi jean

Not got a new post from you! Last one was from your holiday…

Will check again later, in case my wifi is playing up again. …

    Hi Jean

I just went on FB first time in weeks, I coul see photos of the pub and Whitby but not any of the flood. It sounds as if your daughter is having a terrible time. Maybe you need to choose ‘share’ for Audrey and I to see them. I love animals but I would draw the line at alligators! It is always such a worry when you can’t be of any practical help.

Good that your BL’s vision will return to normal and that he was taking that dose of aspirin. Does he smoke?

Camp site looks nice and I’m glad you enjoyed it despite all of the dramas.

    Hi Lynda

What a disappointment for you. I am sure you were hoping that you had lost some weight. I hope it comes off really quickly.

Hi Audrey I’m glad you are getting sorted out now.

Oh Jean – I’ve missed where the flooding is? Oh, it’s just come on the news. Will be praying for you daughter…and that her neighbour would be wise.
Starting a FD – and this morning’s weigh in shows that I’m finally starting to shift the holiday pounds, so feeling positive.

    Morning all
Jean hope your daughter is ok…….what a worry for you and your family.

Good fast day yesterday going to have a 800 cal today and a fast on Monday.

    Lynda

    Morning all,

Well have weighed in and am up by 10 lbs…. that’s what going off piste can do!!

Back to the diet starting tomorrow am on roast beef dinner today so not too bad calorie wise.

Jean let us know how your daughter is…

Busy busy busy here lots to do before hospital on Wednesday. ..

    Back tomorrow love to all

    Audrey

oh symba, so very sorry to hear about your daughter

I do hope they are all safe

I expect you are glad to be going over there soon, now even more!!

    Morning All,

Daughter is in Lafayette in Louisiana…she is half way up a hill I can’t believe the water level. I feel so sorry for the people at the bottom of the hill their roofs have disappeared under the water!

The 80 year old lady next door, my son in law, daughter and another neighbour, broke in and made her leave but had to catch a frightened cat and put in basket before she would come, she was in three foot of water inside, her cars a right off. They put her in a boat they were waist deep took her to her friends house across the road.

Katie’s will be the next house to go, it was lapping inches away from the air bricks, they had 20 neighbours last night putting plastic sheeting and sand bags around her house, 5 cars went to collect them, bag them and bring them back, at the side of the house they was up to their waists, a bit of a slope there, she is so thankful to them. The water has now gone down but it will come back up in the night she is staying up with hubby to keep it out of the house if she can.

The children are at a neighbours sleeping. The news says it will keep high until Wednesday!

Thanks for all your wishes, I was up at 3 am ringing her having a cuppa.

    Back to the 5.2..sorry

We had a good day yesterday 1100 calories and another low day today hopefully, FD Monday.

    Minols..
Glad the weights on the move have a good FD today. Holidays are good but what they leave behind isn’t!

    Lynda..
Sorry the scales were not good to you, you would think they would be happy being on holiday..hope the pounds move quick.

    Ginette..
I will look on FB and see what I can do…hope you had a good night at Pams, and the hair is looking better.

    Audrey..
Big pile of ironing for us both today, and I have more to do, hoping weather improves or it will be left for tomorrow. Sorry on the 10 lbs up..good luck on Wednesday at hospital.

    Vi,
Hope you are settling into the 5.2.. Hope you keep swimming. We are hoping to start this week, Hubbys legs need strengthening so he will be on a float kicking his legs.

I will catch everybody else as you come in as its over the page.

    Have a good Sunday all.

    Jean x

    Jean

Hope your daughters ok. Sounds awful. How awful for them all. Fingers crossed the water level starts to lower.

Back from tesco now, bought lots of healthy fruit and vegetables, am busily cooking up a storm, beef in slow cooker and cottage pie on hob for tomorrow. ..

Hope you are all having a good Sunday.

    Audrey

    Hi All,

Back from Lidl for us too….healthy fruit…not much really, still eating out of freezer..

Small jacket potato and a pork chop for tonight…just had a cheese Danish pastry for lunch not so healthy but tasty…fresh from the oven…lol

Sorting the ironing out soon, plus a few other jobs…

Audrey…..You sound very busy, all sounds very nice…I usually do the same and freeze up…I am slowly eating my boxes up…to re cook again.

    Cmum..
Thanks..high tide again our time 2.50pm. I haven’t heard from her she may be asleep..I shall call her about 1.15 to make sure she’s up. She was by her skin of her teeth last tide 2″ to go….Such a lot of lovely people to help she has only been there 14 months so doesn’t know too many.

Sorry to hear about your daughters dog so sad, spending all that money and it not working, most of us would have given it a go.

    KT..
We go in about 6 weeks, hope every thing is dry then. Flights are very high priced at the moment.

Hope you are feeling stronger …you are doing really well.

    Jean x

    thanks symba

have lost another 2lb this week (once again it was gone by weds, then nothing more – weird)

so getting close to 3 stone, now
but you know what its like, with a goal on the horizon, body holds off as long as possible

    KT..

Tell me about it my body is holding tight…lol….11 lbs to go and I feel as if I am pulling on a tug- of – war…but I will win although stationery at the moment….the cheese Danish pastry won’t help..but it was good.

A 2 lb loss is great news…nothing to complain about there…I would be over the moon.

    X

    Hey everybody

Today it’s a FD, and so far it’s going well. I’m having chicken soup later =)

    Hey Jean
I hope your daugher is doing well. Just keep holding on to that rope (yoU’re doing a tug of war with) That Danish sounds amazing, sometimes you’ve got to treat yourself, right? I’m planning on going swimming again next week, if my body will allow it. Sadly I’m always in a lot of pain, and it’s part of the course. No one can do anything about it. (Except if I want to be permanently high on meds :P) I’m glad you had a nice time on holiday despite everything

I’m happy everyone seems to be doing well

    Hi Mino

I hope you are back on track now.

    Hi Audrey

Poor you……. such a lot to lose again, I often think we work against ourselves and always will. I think if I stay within a 3lb radius of where I am now I will be happy, I shall have another serious push soon. Just as well I said that I didn’t want to lose a lot this year. I would love to be size 18/20 at Christmas, now I am in a few size size 20s no 18s so that is my aim.

We will have to work together I am doing Monday/Wednesday fast day, Friday 800 day.

I need to get back to where I was as well, with the hot weather I’m not sure that will show up even if I did make it at the moment.

I’m going to cut Pams grass later when it cools.

    Hi Jean

You sound back on track. Don’t let the stress of what is happening to your daughter affect your eating pattern. I’m having a nice day off at the moment.

    Hi KT

Well done. Like Jean I would be thrilled to lose 2lbs, to be honest I have got a bit lazy about it at the moment. I’ll soon get back on track.

    Hi Lynda

That will soon go once you have put your mind to it.

    Hi CMum

    How are things with you.

Coffee, haven’t heard from you in a few days, I hope you are back feeling better. Xx

    Hi,

We got the car washed and ironing done, a pain all the jobs when you come back.

We are doing good so far today haven’t added dinner in yet.

    Vi..
My tug of war is with my body, it pulls one way and I pull the other…I will win! Hope you can manage the baths, I am hoping to catch it without children!

    Ginette..
We have to be on track, we have lost the plot a bit lately. Steve needs to get his back and legs stronger so the swimming. Weight loss as a side line if it happens.

Hope you get the grass cut, weathers still warm.

Daughters winning at the moment, the waters gone down a lot near her, down to house below her in the street. The neighbours can’t believe she has no water in the house! Haven’t heard from her so I think things are ok at the moment, high water would have passed now. It was a worry.

    Jean x

    Hi Jean

Yes I got front and back grass cut. Now I can relax in the hot weather. I’d rather be cutting the grass than sitting in the garden, also I did two lots of washing and sheets have just finished drying so u have the bed to make in a minute. I have one of those sensor dryers that knows when it’s dry so no need to set time on it. Very clever!!

Yes there are about 4 of us that need to get get back on track. I just bought some courgettes now I want to think of something to do with them, they were three for 12p so I got two packets, also three lemons at 4p each.

Hope your daughter is ok tonight. Xx

    Morning All,

A very still morning and mild it feels very like abroad.

We both had a good day yesterday and FD for us today.

Steve is off to pick up a change of motorbike this morning so he’s a happy bunny. I am staying behind, maybe cut the grass and cleaning up. He would be cross if he knew, he likes to share the tasks.

Daughters has put all her things back now, they were piled high on the benches and beds. She has been so so lucky. Although more flash floods are expected, she thinks she will be ok as she is high up the hill.

She has a saying ‘ what comes around goes around’…Katie and hubby are both very thoughtful and generous, they have helped a lot of people in the past.

There was a Indian guy working with her hubby in Dubai, his wife was very ill in India, he had no money to fly home…his boss gave him 2 weeks leave..there were 6 people included hubby in the office they all chipped in, paid for his flight and paid for the operation and hospital bill.

Another time a Sri Lankian, partner to Katie’s housemaid, his car blew up and he couldn’t get to work and no money to buy another car, Katie was changing her car so instead of part exchanging it she gave it to him. If he couldn’t get to work no job! I can remember her saying his needs are more than ours.

They have done so much more….maybe it’s pay back time for them. Someone was looking after them.

    Ginette…
Glad you got the grass and washing done. Your dryer seems just the job when you are in a flat, very clever.

How’s Pams green hair?? Any better.

I feel we are both on track now, I am glad Steve felt so ill after eating so much..it seems to have hit the 5.2 button!…lol

B in law all better now and his blurred vision just about cleared.

    Speak later

    Jean x

Well done a bit of washing it’s so nice I am off for a walk…try and get some stepping in.

Hope everybody is having a good day especially the fasters. 😇

    X

    Hi everybody

Fast day today for me. …

Have been busy catching up on last night’s Olympic games..

I too am off for a walk soon it must be catching Jean Lolo. ..

Have a good day everybody fast or non fast

    Audrey

    Hi Jean

I’m glad all is ok with your daughter. I think a little kindness goes a long way, it is better than sitting on the sidelines. Well done to them both for being such lovely people and making a difference to people’s life. I must say that thinking about doing something nice and actually doing it are two different things for must people

I am so glad you are back on track, now it only needs Audrey and I to do the same.

Pams hair has changed to a normal ash colour, I prefer her own colour though, this is a lovely white. The colour is very draining.

It is getting too hot for me today……

Only walked as far as the garden…. oh it badly needed a sort out so I have been weeding and dead heading. Plus trimming back a mellow bush that is going berserk. …

It is getting very hot you take care ginette keep hydrated…

Jean I am very happy for your daughter glad the water is going down. …

Off out again to the jungle /garden… Lolo

    Audrey

I managed 50 mins walk, came back had a coffee then 50 mins grass cutting. It’s so hot and humid here…I am sweating buckets!

    Ginette..
Why does she want to change it when it is a pretty white. Mine would still be a lot of grey, light and dark at the back, not good for me. So the colouring has to go on at the moment.

Katie and her hubby are very thoughtful and kind…but can both be firery and a pain in the bum at times. Katie always has been from two weeks old!

    Audrey..
Hope it’s not too hot for you, gardening. Walking tomorrow maybe..lots of lovely food frozen yesterday in the freezer.

I thought you had both got back on track now, are you both still struggling? It sounds like you are OK..😇

Steve went off on his motor bike, stopped for petrol, paid and when back to his bike…key missing…after 25 mins searching he asked the man to look on his CT camera…he followed him to paying, he put the keys on the counter and knocked them with his gloves…they was in the chocolate bars!! What a whally he is. He’s not back yet he will be playing on his new ( to him) bike.

    Jean xx

    Hi Audrey

At least you are doing a job that needs doing, don’t overdo the sun. It’s really good to keep out of the kitchen though. xx

    Hi Jean

Who knows why she dyes her hair, I am trying to convince her not to, I agree when it is that dirty get colour it is better to dye, I am grey in places mostly at the temples, I don’t like that though. So on the dye goes.

Poor Steve, such a worry losing keys, to his new toy as well…… Good job that he thought about CCTV.

My friend thinks she has left het phone at the caravan, she’s worried as it has her bank cards in it. So we may be heading out for a trip, I think it it near Newbury. I offered to keep her company. If so it will be after 6 to miss the traffic.

It does look really hot out there now.

Steve will come back eventually…… Boys with their toys 🙂

I have saved a fortune over the years by not dyeing my hair… I did colour it for years as i started going grey in my twenties… but now I have lovely silver hair. ..

Ginette enjoy your road trip at least it will keep you from food. .

Jean hope the wanderer returns soon..

I have been good so far today just had a plum. ..

Cottage pie for tea on a fast day!!

Fingers crossed I don’t keep eating afterwards…this is my first fast day for weeks…😈😈

    Audrey

    Ginette …
Hope your friend finds the phone and bank cards it’s a worry…enjoy your ride out.

    Audrey…
Well done on the plum…nice dinner tonight. Yours is a lovely hair colour no need to dye it.

The wanderer has returned, he went for a coffee out and they were doing bacon sandwiches…No he resisted…he thought I would be cross…I said it was up to him if he wanted to stay fat…lol

All fussy stroking his bike outside!!

I am having poached egg and tomatoes on two slices of toast, Steve’s having poached egg and beans on two slices of toast. Looks like swimming on the cards tomorrow…

I really would like to see a pound move this week…don’t we all..lol…lol

    X

    Hi jean

Glad he is back safely. .. I am really hoping for quick on quick off with my weight…

I am not really exercising this week didn’t seem much point in starting as after Wednesday I need to rest my back again for a week or so!😆😆

Ian back at work tonight so having an early meal, not too sure if I will manage to refrain from eating later will shout out if I start to wobble. …I have got 150 kcals left after my meal so can have a milky coffee later yummy!

    Audrey

SHOUT if you need help…..we all have to be good… X
