  • Day 19 NFD Oregon USA

    Good morning all!

@strawberriesandcream –so happy to hear about the air fryer!! Definitely going to have sweet potatoes on hand for Christmas Day as those are what I want to try most. As you said, if those are successful it will make the whole thing worthwhile. Mine wasn’t that expensive (there were several that were more) so hoping I didn’t misstep there. Also thank you for the

@flourbaby,@songbirdme definitely a NFD pub crawl. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t manage stepping foot into an English pub on a FD without complete implosion. Sparkling water wouldn’t cut it. 🙂

@califdreamer, @onahealthyhigh–congrats on your lows! How wonderful to be enjoying real success for your health through the holidays!!

@daffodil2010–so many FD’s!! Wow. I’m still paralyzed with fear at the thought of B2B. 🙂 But happily, the FD’s are much easier.

@awilson, @annemarilyn-stay dry today (it’s a blustery blur here) and hopefully your travels North @annemarilyn this weekend will be without trouble. We actually took side roads out past Eatonville and Mossyrock and it was really pretty if not a little long.

Well I stepped on the scale this morning after yesterday’s FD and the fun weekend (even though I wasn’t going to) and am down another .5 bringing my total since November 1 to 8 pounds. Very happy with progress but trying to keep realistic expectations through the next two weeks with all my four boys (men-children really) home.

May your holidays be blessed and your pounds be less.

Hit another new low going from 165.2 to 164.2 lbs. Blood ketones indicate good fat burning after the first water fast day. It will be interesting to see how an additional 24 hours of revved up fat burning works.

I’m watching (on Amazon Prime) a documentary called “The Science of Fasting.” This is particularly for medical reasons more than weight loss. My financial advisor said he watched it and thought about my WOL:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2210982/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl

It’s not exactly for our issues, but still quite interesting. It’s about an hour long.

Day 19 2nd post Oregon USA

Am I too new to host? January will be month #3 for me, but I am happy to host the January Challenge as I’m NOT traveling to Australia, or Peru, or Costa Rica, or anywhere else all of you lovelies are going. 🙂

I’ll be right here in soggy Oregon, and hosting the challenge might be of genuine help for keeping my chin up.
If I am qualified–I’ll be happy to head up the New Year’s first challenge.

Songbirdme, thanks for posting the link. The program is excellent!

    Day 19 UK NFD

Yesterday’s FD not as easy as previously. Weight back up to 79.5 in the am after Sunday’s pub trip! I drank loads of water & hot drinks but had a headache most of the day, eventually relieved by a piece of homemade bread & butter. With stew for supper and an apple I was around 700 for the day. I was so tempted to eat something later but thought of y’all and resisted – woo hoo! Hot bath instead and I slept like a log.

Today’s a NFD but I’ve not eaten as been really caught up since first thing. Had a problem with online attacks from a colleague and that’s taken most of my headspace. Strangely ‘m finding I’m upset but not anxious, disappointed not to have done what I planned but not beating myself up. I’m feeling an unexpected side-effect of more self-compassion since I started this WOL, I’ll take that.

I’m going to make some nice warming supper perhaps 1000 calories or so, and try to get an early night. I’m so aware of all the things I need to get done these next few days and it’ll be easier with more sleep. Self-control as well as self-compassion grows better with a bit of self-care.

Lovely to catch up with today’s posts and a big shout out to all those on a FD today.

    Panto joke
Dame – last year I got an electric shock at Christmas. I stood on a mince pie and a currant went right up my leg 🙂

    Day 19, South Wales, FD

@happymargo – thanks for the link about replacing bad habits with good, really interesting!

@diverdog – visit Wales! More castles per square mile than you can fit in in one visit

Panto joke #2 (with profound apologies to the gods of comedy, and everyone else)
“Dame: I’ve been married 16 times.
    Comic: 16?
Dame: Yes, four richer, four poorer, four better, four worse.”

    2nd post,

@mjrbcd44, you’re never too new to host & you’re qualified if you know what 5:2 is…………. so,…………… I think “YOU ARE IT”………………………… Thanks for hosting January’s challenge!!!! LOL!!!

Just a note to all of our non ‘panto aficionado’s’…………….. you’re supposed to groan aloud and roll your eyes at these panto offerings and basically pretend they don’t tweak a funny bone or two………… personally I guffaw like an imbecile to the embarrassment of the niece & nephews, who probably don’t get the rather naughty double-entendres!!!! I love an Xmas panto………………… & I’m not ashamed to admit it!!!!!

A quick drop in post from me – hopefully there are still some people around that remember me.

So the commuting between the UK and Germany and living in hotels pretty much killed off any attempts at 5:2 since early October. I’m back up to 17st 5lbs, so probably about 3lbs up from where I was when I started the regular travelling.

I’m still determined to lose weight and I’m still working on how I can fit a sustainable 5:2 approach into my changed work pattern.

I haven’t given up and don’t intend to, but I need to focus on my work life balance and managing my stress levels as a priority for now. For now I’m taking some down time and not beating myself up. I’m still 15lbs lighter than I was in May and I will get back on track.

Happy holidays to all of you and I wish you all every success.
    Liath

    Day 19 Wisconsin USA NFD

Posting very late today, but didn’t want to miss posting a single day. FD went well yesterday, NFD today wasn’t quite as successful.

The constant barrage of treats everywhere take their toll eventually, I guess. Today my manager at work gifted me with a box of turtles (chocolate, pecans, caramel, in case there is someone out there who doesn’t know what turtles are). I didn’t know how to refuse it without seeming ungracious. It was a total blindside but totally my fault that I opened the box and helped myself to the very thing I don’t need to eat.

So, tomorrow is another day and hopefully the damage won’t be too great.

Sending my best wishes to everyone.

    Take care, Markie

Day 19 – Massachusetts – supposed to be FD but ended up CD

Thanks for all the great advice and support! December is a hard month. I keep trying to fast but can’t see it through. Today and yesterday were probably <1000 cal each but I can’t keep the carbs out. I’m not giving this up – I refuse to let myself backslide. I am sharpening my knives and readying the shields to fight the dragon. Tomorrow morning I am weighing myself, because that always keeps me on track, and I’m going to complete a FD!

@strawberriesandcream – I had no idea my name meant something! But it works perfectly with my mentality. Thank you for that insight. I will remember that tomorrow when the carb dragon wants me to just have a bite.

To everyone else – stay strong!

    Second Post
Wanted to add a couple of things to my post:

@happymargo so glad the idea of setting simple goals appeals. And, thank you for the link. Great article.

    @onahealthyhigh, thank you as well.

Love the pantos. So good to laugh. Thanks, you lovely Brits.

    Take care, Markie

    Day 20 – Melbourne Aus – NFD

@flourbaby To me these panto jokes are sounding a lot like Dad jokes as I know them. Eye roll worthy and groan worthy haha. The Christmas crackers are full of them. Shall we share our cracker jokes on Christmas Day?

Weighed in this morning and I’m up GRRRRRRRRR. At least I know that I didn’t cheat and I’m sticking to my meal plan well today so far…
    Brekkie: healthy mummy smoothie
Snack: small flat white at the cafe with the fam
    Lunch: homemeade chicken laksa
I’m prepped for the 3:30pm munchies this time.

Huge congrats to everyone who’s hit their goals and are killing it this month!

@markie99 – glad you advised what ‘turtles’ are. I allow myself ONE turtle sundae each summer at our favorite ice cream parlor. A couple summers ago I had to describe what that meant – I believe it was an Aussie member who envisioned a completely different kind of turtle sundae! 🙂

Day 19 2nd post Oregon USA

Well again my NFD’s seem particularly hard to manage. Was doing great right up until I went to an Irish pub to meet my sister-in-law and hubby and fell off the whole day with multiple beers and two cookies to end. Sigh.

@flourbaby–is your one vote enough? I am happy to host but don’t want to overstep the newbie boundaries.
Gosh do I want to visit England now. I know we would have a fantastic time pub crawling. 😊

@busymummam one thing I have learned from this forum is that variations in the scale are to be expected. Many here don’t weigh and rely on how clothes are fitting to gage progress.

Certainly for me learning not to rely on the scale in either direction is a major stepping stone!!

Not sure what I need to do other than start a spread sheet for January challenge. If someone has insight let me know. And yes… We still have a ways to go BEFORE January.

    Stay strong everyone!

    Day 20, India, FD
Its good to be on the forum again. @at, I appreciate your support and Welcome 🙂

    Day 20, Norway, FD

CD yesterday, FD today, out to eat tomorrow.

    Day 20 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD
    3rd of B2B2b2B

It’s almost winter solstice 😄 It’s quite mild here at 12C this morning, the birdies were already singing in the darkness when I took my 6am morning walk, and in work, the edible flowers seem to know it’s the turn of the season and are blooming that little bit better. Happy days.

Good FD yesterday, in fact, did not think about eating at all until around 8pm as I went gift shopping straight after work, then wrapped those gifts when I got home. A nice drop of 1.2 lbs this morning. The water and green tea really whooshes out the weekends gain for me 😊

My boss brought back boxes of yummy cake slices for us yesterday but I did not touch any. Very proud of that resistance muscle. Wish the cakes and biscuit treats would stop already, it’s getting hard, especially in the middle of multiple FD’s 😨

@mjrbcd44 you have my vote my love for January! I am a relative newbie too of 5 months so fair due to you for stepping up. You can blaze the trail for my handover in February so 😉

@leggit yes, your handle means the same in Ireland…definitely a catch call when we were kids and up to no good and a responsible adult arrived on the scene…leg it or you’ll be caught!!

@liathanail I remember you and your many travels, take care and come back when you can.

    Day 20 Newcastle UK NFD

    Day 20 – UK – FD

A good day and sad day yesterday. Good day controlled eating but very sad day of family visits…. My Mum in law has dementia but at 98 she can be forgiven for not remembering what day it is – she remains in fine physical health however, my brother in law has early onset dementia and at 74 we found him very poorly – it’s so cruel to see a once lively, intelligent, funny, strong man now not able to recognise his own family… once upon a day I would have consoled myself with sweet treats – but yesterday I resolved that was going to do nothing to help him or do anything for my health prospects either. I pray he is not in too much turmoil.

I’ve had a restless night worrying about him so with the FD planned I may need some help from a pocket list so here goes….

    Day 20 UK NFD

    Better day yesterday.

    Day 20, UK, FD

Ok, yesterday’s fasting attempt came to a shuddering halt in pizza, almonds, crisps, wine and beer. Still managed to maintain at 75.8 kg, and will do this week’s 2nd FD today.

Today is the 9 month anniversary for me on this WOL. I’ve come from 106.5 kg to 75.8 kg, for a loss of 30.7 kg / 67.6 lb / 4st 11.6lb. At 6’2” this gives me a BMI just under 21.6. Reasonable for a 52 year old chap 😀

@mjrbcd44 sounds like you’re it for January.

    Day 20 Wales NFD

This cold virus is vicious. I’ve been awake all night coughing and now my asthma has kicked in and I’ve had to start taking steroids. Sorry I’m moaning……just feeling rubbish at the moment…….still can’t taste anything and not sure if I should be grateful for that as I’m having no trouble keeping well within TDEE….but its the time of year to be scoffing mince pies and Baileys!!!!! Its really odd when you’ve lost your sense of taste because all I can sense is temperature and texture.

@mjrbcd44 – thanks for taking on the gauntlet for January – it will be an active month with many of us hitting that big Reset button!

@diverdog – as @lynned said, come to Wales, Pembrokeshire is gorgeous and has some beautiful coastal walking opportunities.

Have a successful day everyone for together we are stronger!!

    Day 20….Florida…..FD

No ifs ands or butts today will be an FD, with Christmas parties, baking and date day with the hubby, the scale is being mean to me today. So, I’m gonna show her a thing or two.

I woke up a bit late this morning, so I’ve got be quick. Works Christmas Party was very good, one of my wonderful contractors gave me these Belgium Truffles…..oh my word they are sooooo good… I really must stop eating them.

Date day with hubby was fantastic too….we enjoyed taco Tues…..at this neat little Taco place…

    All way to much!

We finished up our Christmas shopping and I found jeans on sale and I’m in desperate need of some so….. I pulled a pair of 10s off the self…..to big…..then 8s still to big…. pulled the 6s down…… said yeah right….. hubby said just try them on…..
oh my they fit…….Oh My Word….. did you hear that……Those Damn things fit!
    Holy Moly…..No Way!

I watch this Youtuber, she’s in NJ but originally from France. She was opening a care package from her mom who still lives in France. Well anyways in this care package we’re like a thousand pairs of socks for her whole family. She went on to say that America socks are cheaply made, do not last and are very uncomfortable. Now, I’m not saying that she is over exaggerating this whole sock thing but I was wondering if anyone who has lived in the UK and the US has noticed this……. I mean she went on for like 5 min about these socks……. so I’m curious…….
Anyone over there want to send me some socks? LOL

Lastly……I found these beautiful lounge pants on a website, I really want to get but they are from Japan….. I don’t have a problem ordering from other countries, I’ve ordered from the Japan plenty of times but never clothes….. Does anyone know the size differences…… I think they run smaller but no sure….. It’s a long return process if they don’t fit so, I want to try and avoid that……

@mjrbc44…… thanks for taking on the new month in a new year……

Well, I’m off I’m going be soooo late today!

Wanna know why Santa’s so jolly?
He knows where all the bad girls live!

    Day 20 UK NFD

@missybear, from a fellow cold sufferer, I know how you feel. I was so looking forward to this week off work with my OH, all I’ve done is feel very sorry for myself. We booked tickets to see Star Wars this afternoon, I want to go but am worried I’ll fall asleep!

Yesterday was soup and toast, so no too bad – for this week it was almost a FD! Bless him, my oh keeps trying to tempt me with warm comforting food. He brings back a sponge pudding daily! Today’s is an Eve’s pudding, mmmm. But my god the Calories. He means well so I’m going to try not to eat lunch and forgo sweets at the pictures so we can have a decent meal tonight and not go over TDEE.

@mjrbcd44, looks like you’re it for January. Thanks for volunteering to host us- lots of people like me getting properly strapped in on the wagon in January.
@liathanail, good to hear from you. You know we’re always here when you get everything sorted.

We’re off to the panto on New Years Eve with family (oh yes we are), Cinderella. Haven’t been for years and am really looking forward to the sheer tackiness and bad jokes.

Apologies all, another rubbish joke: My husband fell into a huge vat of granulated coffee and was never seen again. It was a terrible way to go but at least it was instant.

    Day 20 UK NFD

After the reversal of Monday, this morning’s weight was 78kg /172lb, down another 0.5kg/1lb on Saturday. Total loss for December is 6lb which is amazing. Delighted but also mindful that it’s my first month so loss is faster/easier, there’s a long way to go, and Christmas is just a few days away!

Yesterday was an accidental CD as I didn’t eat til the evening. Now I have this new knowledge in my head it’s easier to make good choices. i find myself automatically weighing things and calculating calories, keeping a food diary on scraps of paper – which might now become a notebook. I ddin’t want to put myself off by making it too onerous.

I’m also sleeping better these last few days. Not sure whether that’s this WOL, my growing mindfulness about self care, or the supplements I started taking at the same time as starting this – cherry capsules, vitamin D and black cohosh. I suspect it may be the latter. AMAZING the difference a good night’s sleep makes – even when it’s shorter than I’d like, I actually feel rested & restored and far less anxious.

Today another controlled day, maintaining the good progress made thus far and building in some capacity for happy indulgence over Christmas.

@missybear It’s a really awful virus, and can linger for weeks and weeks I also had it, along with asthma and steroids. Hope you feel better soon.

@bigviking Happy anniversary – that’s an amazing achievement

@toddybear That sounds a really hard and deeply-moving day – well done in resisting the self-medicating with sweets. Looking after yourself well is key to having capacity to care better for others – like putting your oxygen mask on first on the plane

    Panto joke
I wouldn’t let that Cinderella play on my hockey team.
    Why not?
She keeps running away from the ball!

    Day 20, Belfast, NFD

Wow, we’re getting through December at a right ol’ pace now lol!

@mjrbcd44 thanks for hosting January…it’ll be a much needed reset for me, no doubt.
Had lovely drinks with an old mate yesterday after work. Hubby joined us too. Very sore head this morning though. I might need some carbs, so I’ll try a FD tomorrow.

    Good luck everyone today.

    Day 20. London UK
Still just about managing Drycember, but I keep fantasising about how lovely a vat of Baileys would be. Not sure if I’ve got it in me to have a dry Christmas Day. Usually wander up to Wimbledon Common on Christmas Day, meet up with friends, go to the pub….. we shall see.
Happy winter solstice tomorrow ( is that right?) and happy WOL, everybody.

    Day 20 Wisconsin USA FD
After a spectacularly unsuccessful NFD yesterday, so glad today is a FD.

Scale is up a couple of pounds so my progress this month has seemingly been wiped out, but probably just for today. A successful FD will help me reset and move on. Activity planned includes teaching two senior yoga classes and 5 miles on the bike (rolling hills).

@toddybear so sorry about your brother in law. Dementia is indeed so cruel. Your compassion for his plight really shines through, and is so touching.

@bigviking I feel your pain. Congratulations on your journey and good luck today.

@saffy420 thanks so much – smiling as I sip my coffee 🙂

@songbirdme yes a box of turtles could have a very different meaning, lol

Good luck to everyone today. I plan to break my fast later today with this brilliant fruit salad: orange segments, kiwi slices, unpeeled apple slices, pomegranate seeds and fresh lime juice. Toasted unsweetened cocoanut optional (I’m not adding cocoanut today). Almost like having dessert for dinner.

Good luck everyone. Take care, Markie

    Day 20, London, UK, FD

    Quick & late check-in today!!!

Looking forward to todays’ FD as yesterdays’ NFD was anything but controlled, just poor planning on my part. Snacking until dinner, when I should have just HAD my dinner and be done with it!!!

Anyway, onward & downward without stressing too much over to bouncy-bouncy scales!!!!

Wow, @bigviking almost 68lbs in 9 months, you’re averaging about 7.5lbs per month which is outstanding!!! Congrats!!!!

I’m aiming to drown some dragons today, I can’t believe I only drank about 750ml water yesterday!!! Pitiful attempt!!!

Stay strong everyone, we really have GOT this!!!

    Day 20 – Massachusetts – FD

Good day everyone, it’s early morning here. I’m ready for this FD! Scales showed just a 2 pound gain from where I was last week, so not too bad for all the unplanned snacking I’ve done. Maybe I can even make that go away today!

Loving this handle now – time to leg it and get rid of these pounds!

Adding myself to the pocket list for today for inspiration.

    Day 20, Newcastle UK, NFD

Happy birthday @diverdog – enjoy your celebrations.
Thanks for the link @songbirdme. I shall watch this afternoon.
Hello @liathanail – course we remember you – good to hear from you. Take care and look forward to a new start in the new year.
Well done for volunteering @mjrbcd44 and thank you.
Good to hear from you again too @rahul1905.
@toddybear – good on you for staying strong in spite of the sadness you felt. Please try not to worry as worry makes no difference at all to any situation – it just hurts you.
@bigviking – congratulations on your fantastic achievement in 9 months.
I’ll never give up @quebecoise – despite the upcoming confession.

Had a great FD yesterday. Right up until I blew it. So much for subliminal hypnosis. The Christmas night bottle of port is no more. Mind you I have put the blame squarely on OH’s shoulders as he is the one who suggested ‘a little glass of port and some cheese’. I must remember it is in my power to say NO! Maybe my subconscious was getting in one last gargantuan binge before that book recommended by @EmmaTaylor arrives.

We’re out with friends tonight for a pub meal – I’ll choose wisely but almost certainly will have a pudding.

What did Cinderalla say when the chemist lost her photographs?
    Someday my prints will come!

    Day 20 USA (Illinois) NFD

Busy day for this retired woman today — SilverSneakers exercise, piano lessons, and a little shopping. Today I bring some surprise Christmas presents to my students and their moms that I hope will go over well. I love teaching these home-schooled children (my pastor’s kids and another area pastor’s kids.) We are all very flexible, and that works so well with my crazy life.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 20 – USA – FD

@liathanail, I remember you and welcome back! @toddybear, I empathize with you and commend you on your resolve to move past your sad feelings to helpful actions for their benefit. @missybear and @saffy420, hope you feel better soon. @diverdog, happy birthday! @mjrbcd44, thank you for hosting January; I’m sure there will be a ton of posting!

And just like that it is Day 20! NFD Oregon USA

@toddybear–my heart goes out to you. Such a hard disease and you were brilliant for not easing your pain with food.

@BigViking–wow just wow!! You must feel tremendous and so much healthier.

@strawberriesandcream–I have an audio book based on the same kinds of theory for drinking called The Naked Mind, by Annie Grace. I haven’t gotten through it all but I do like where she is coming from. But port and cheese…that is very hard to pass. 🤔

Happy to be the hostess with the mostest for January!
We will be a highly motivated group right? I am trying to up my exercise after the New Year (it is really non existent) to help me keep losing. 👍

Next week I will take a head count on who is in for January.

Off to work I go today. Short happy hour party and then off to the airport to pick up last son coming home!! ❤️❤️ Happy house with all the brothers together.

🎄May your holidays be blessed and your pounds be less. ⛄

    Day 20, South Wales, FD

@mjrbcd44 thank you for offering to host in January – you’re a star!

    Day 20 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Had been very good all day yesterday and then manage to sabotage a CD into an excessive day, as a result did not feel hungry all day today, eventually broke my fast this afternoon when I met a friend for a cup of tea and a chat – was convinced to have a mini mince pie with the tea – homemade and very nice!

@yo-yo-fletch – don’t apologise just post when you can and try to read daily to keep you accountable! How lovely that your eldest noticed the results of your efforts 😇
@califdreamer – well done on reaching your lowest weight so far – You can achieve your Christmas present to yourself – not far now – stay focused!

@mjrbcd44 – great job on dispatching those 8lbs! and you are definitely not too new to host our January Challenge – Thank you for taking up the challenge 💐 Are you alright to set the challenge on the forum? this will then allow people to link into the challenge and sign up for January – If not sure what to do, hope this helps:- To start a new topic: Go to Forum at the top of this page, click on The Official Fast Forum. @diverdog – another one achieving a new low – well done! Visit our mountain areas further up North, Yorkshire, Cumbria and Scotland – amazing scenery!!!
@songbirdme – thank you for that link – planning on watching it later tonight
@liathanail – Lovely to hear from you – sounds like your work keeps you very busy – 3lbs is not that much try doing 16:8 days or even 20:4 days when travelling – narrowing your eating window might help.
@markie99 – you are not the only one who finds that discipline slides at this time of the year – why is an excess of food and drink so much part of getting together and celebrating?????
@leggit – you are stronger than you think – you can do this!
@rahul1905 – you are most welcomed
@toddybear – it’s not easy to see loved ones disappear as a result of dementia – it is such a sad disease
and well done you on not using treats to help you cope with a difficult situation
@bigviking – Happy 9 month anniversary – what a great success story. On a different note I had a similar situation to you yesterday just different foods………
@missybear – poor you – sending you virtual hugs from Cumbria to Wales – hope you feel better sooner than later x
@michelinme – 6lbs for December so far WOW
@emma Taylor – I salute you – what great strength on managing to keep to a Drycember so far!!!!!!!

DD and I are putting up our Christmas Tree tonight whilst OH is out at his exercise class – he is a bit Bah Humbug about it all so it will be a lovely “surprise for him” when he returns and the tree is up in all it’s splendour🤣
It is also obligatory to have a glass of Bailey’s on ice with Christmas music in the background whilst we do this very important job (sorry @emma Taylor ) we have also decided to order some sourdough pizzas to eat whilst we admire our handy work afterwards………Hopefully I will be 😇 and not 😈 tonight…….

Whether you’re trying to lose weight, lower your stress level, or looking for new ways to eat healthy, each day is a new day to tackle your goals.

“THE SECRET OF CHANGE IS TO FOCUS ALL OF YOUR ENERGY, NOT ON FIGHTING THE OLD, BUT ON BUILDING THE NEW” – Socrates

Day 20 NFD Las Vegas NV USA

Lost another 1.2 lbs down to a new low of 163.0 lbs at 5’10”. Going B2B with a water fast made a big difference in fat burning. After day one 35 hr fast my blood ketones were at 1.1mmol, into a nice fat burning zone. Adding another 24 hours increased ketones by 500% to 6.1 mmol! Taking the torch to that grease! It wasn’t very hard to do. I was never really hungry and felt good except for getting a little cranky last night. I wasn’t really hungry as I broke my fast this AM but the food tasted so good. I’m recharging my glycogen for weightlifting today.

Bigviking, congrats on 30.7kg. awesome job!

missybear and lynnd Wales is definitely on my bucket list

    bert1802 Size 6! OMG!

michelinme try magnesium threonate, and sublingual melatonin for a deep sleep Add K2 with your vitamin D

AT, Cumbria and Scotland on the list

    Day 20 – SW WA USA – ?

May be another FD, probably more toward 800. Have finally started doing some baking. Made some Walnut Snowballs – KetoConnect’s version of Russian teacakes. Making some today with Hazelnuts & have nibbled on 3 nuts, plus coffee w/cream, water & some candycane green tea so far.

Pretty amazed at folks losing in this stretch like @diverdog & @michelinme and others.

@mjrbcd44 – thanks for stepping up for January! You’ll do great!

    Together we are stronger!

Day 20 McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD
I need a FD but I have a bunch of Thai food left over for yesterday and its calling my name.

@mjrbcd44 – 8 lbs down is fantastic success!!
@songbirdme – Thank you for the link to the Science of Fasting.
@michelinme – Good job on the self care.

@liathanail – Hope you come back soon!!
@toddybear – I’m so sorry to hear about your in-laws dementia. My mother died with alzheimers so I know how painful it is to see loved ones fail. ((((hugs))))
@bigviking – Congrats on 9 months and lots of success!!
    @bert1802 – Wow size 6, good job!!
@mjrbcd44 thank you for offering to host in January

    Day 20, Germany FD
    @mjrbcd44 great you’re hosting January’s challenge! I ‘m in 👍
Went on a really bad binge last night after a nice evening with friends (and wine…) with chocolate, cookies and so forth… 😥😯
So today’s FD was easy and more than welcome! The binge was again in combination with alcohol! Really should go for a dry January!

    Day 20 Belfast NFD

Last night we brought a shy little puppy home. She wasn’t meant to be a Christmas puppy but just turned out like that. I had a shadow all day and she’s just starting to find her feet and get a bit naughty. I’m smitten!

Despite two successful fast days, the scales remain stubborn, but as long as they don’t go up I’m happy with that.
    @strawberriesandcream interesting link. Thanks.
@flourbaby and @mjrbcd44 – A members pub crawl? I like the sound of that. The problem would be deciding where we would have it. And the air fare of course. Shame.
@diverdog have a very happy birthday! 💐🎶 and congratulations on your BF% – an excellent achievement. The problem with your trip is that you’ll never have enough time because you have to come to both North and Southern Ireland as well as Wales and England!
@rahul1905 good to see you back👍
@yo Yo Fletch what a lovely compliment from your daughter. Enjoy their company. I love it when everyone is home.
@califdreamer well done on your new low.
@mjrbcd44 great weight loss since November. Keep it up! And of course you are not too new. It makes you amazingly focussed. We’d love you to do it. I see @at has posted very good instructions. If you need a hand with the spreadsheet, I’m happy to help. And I’m in for January!
@songbirdme – my son has amazon prime, so I’ll check it out when I’m next at his house. Thanks for that.
@michelinme I can’t imagine how you coped with online attacks from someone you know. It must make your work environment hard to manage. I admire your strength and resolve.
@liathanail – good to see you checking in. You’re between a rock and a hard place with your travel. I hope you find a solution.
@markie99 – another thing to avoid! They sound delicious.
@toddybear you did very well to resist those treats. Dementia is such a cruel illness. It must have been heartbreaking.
A very impressive record @bigviking. Definitely an inspiration.👍
Wow @bert what a fantastic Christmas present! Dykask would be your Japan expert I think.
Yes!@Daffodil2010 the solstice is tomorrow and of course the most amazing spectacle must be close to you. For any history buffs, there is a Stone Age passage tomb in Co Meath called Newgrange, which is believed to be older than the pyramids and Stone Henge. On the winter solstice, weather permitting, the sun rises and shines through a window over the door and its beams illuminate the burial chamber. It’s streamed live tomorrow if there’s sunshine! Here’s the link for anyone interested.

    @EmmaTaylor your resolve is amazing!

Sorry for the long post. The family lands up tomorrow complete with pug puppy so our house will be crazy.

Keep your eyes on the prize everyone!

    Day 20, Gozo Malta, cd

You’re right Flourbaby I’ve experienced a whoosh. This morning I was down another kilo. Even after yesterday I ate a piece of Christmas cake, Irish cream liquor, and a marzipan cookie.

Today I had Konjac noodles with seafood arrabiata sauce and a piece of pumpkin crumble tart which I made this morning. In fact I made two crumble tarts saving one for tomorrow as I’m attending a school Christmas concert where my eldest niece of four years is participating as an angel so I won’t cook anything except cherry duck and roast potato’s for my son for lunch and king prawns for him as well for dinner.

I don’t think I’ll manage a fast day before Christmas but I’ll be as mindful as possible. There are Christmas cake, hampers and Christmas log in my home and calling for me to sample. I refrained from making a Christmas cake as my husband gets many Christmas gifts from his office and also friends give us food and alcohol gifts.

Anyway make way for Jesus in your hearts as that’s what is Christmas is all about.

Good day/night everyone, onwards and downwards.

    Day 21 FD, Brisbane, Australia

Christmas cooking almost completed and I have only sampled one chocolate and two small shortbreads. I still have my Gingerbread house to complete. We have an annual GB house competition, where some friends and I make GB houses, the photos are uploaded to a Facebook page, anonymously. Friends are then asked to vote by “Liking” their favourite GB house. The winner gets bragging rights and we all get to eat our GB houses. It’s lots of fun!

    Stay strong everyone…you’ve got this.

    Day 20 California NFD

I’m really late checking in today. Down another 100 grams today and tomorrow’s a FD, so I’m hoping to hit an even 59 after that. The last kg’s come off very slowly with 5:2! But considering how easy this has been to stick with, I can’t really complain.

Hope everyone is prepared for the holidays and having fun with all the pre holiday celebrating – and fasting! 😁

    Day 21 – Melbourne Aus – FD

Damn those 3pm munchies again! I only succumbed to two cookies though and reached for the carrot sticks instead. Might just try again tomorrow!

On the upside, I’m down another 300g since my last fast day. Slowly but surely…

@songbirdme, thank you for posting that link to the fasting documentary: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2210982/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl
I had time to watch it tonight and it was inspiring. Well worth the hour spent!

    Day 21 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD
    4th B2B2B2B ……..LFD

Never done so many FD’s before but motoring through. As this is the last FD until 27th Dec I have decided to do a liquid only fast. It’s relatively mild here at 12c this morning so cold should not be a problem. Oxo cubes, water, herbal teas, coffee at the ready.

And it’s Winter Solstice too! I love this time of year. The shortest day but soon to turn with longer days, promise of Spring in the air, my favourite flowers soon to emerge in the next few weeks (the daffodil of course ☺️), and Christmas and New Year still to look forward to.

@debster251 I was just thinking of Newgrange this morning. It’s only up the road from me (I actually live with the Hill of Tara in view from my front door) so I live in a beautiful part of Ireland’s ancient east. What fun it would be to be at Newgrange this morning when the sun rises but you have to enter a lottery to gain entry today….and I didn’t enter 😆 However as its cloudy now it might not happen. I will check it out later. Many thanks for the link.

Oh and @debster251 welcome to your new girl. I so look forward to hearing of her antics in the weeks to come. Would love a dog but our cat rules the territory and neither of us are around too much. When we retire for definite though.

    Day 21 Newcastle UK NFD.
Great night out with the Granddaughters at the Peter pan Panto at the theatre royal.
    Best joke
    Captain Hook…where’s my buccaneers?
Peter Pan. On the side of your head 🤣🤣🤣🤣
