  • Hi everyone —

I’ve never really attempted a diet consistently before, despite being overweight for most of my life. This is the first time, therefore, that I’m counting calories. However, what I’m noticing, is that even on my ‘off’ days, I eat less than 1350 calories, which apparently is quite a bit less that I should be having — the NHS recommends 1560 a day minimum for weight loss. I suspect that this might be because I am gluten and dairy intolerant, but I’m beginning to wonder whether this means the FD might not be for me, and I just need a lot more exercise! Any help would be appreciated.

    thank you!

    Hi and welcome:

If you are following 5:2 and doing two days a week of 500 calories, and also eating 1350 or less the remaining five days, you should be losing weight like crazy!

What is your TDEE? This might help: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/tdee-for-the-curious-or-why-dont-i-lose-weight-faster/

As an aside, exercise won’t significantly help you lose weight: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/exercise-is-dangerous-for-your-diet/

    Good Luck!
