  • Does anyone suffer with aching legs and groin. Sometimes I get quite painful groin pain. My legs seem to ache all the time. Waiting for blood tests results but my physio said it might be the diet.

Nope – sorry LisaNurse – that’s definitely a new one on me if it’s a side-effect of the diet. I’ve been on this site for over a year now and I’ve never seen that one come up before. What are you seeing the physio for? Could it be connected to the original problem/injury?

Was seeing physio for plantar fasciitis, not related and in any event it went more or less before I started the diet as it was my last physio bout on my foot. It is not connected. I hope it is not the diet as I want to continue with it. Thanks for your post!

Hmmm – if you’ve had plantar issues it could be to do with compensating for that while you had the issues and now having to re-learn how to walk correctly, now that the issues are gone?

It’s hard to say without knowing your history etc but I’m a Sports Massage Therapist and I quite often see issues arising elsewhere in the body when people are compensating for an injury. If the injury takes a while to heal, the original muscle condition in some of the groups used for walking or other repetative movements (that have been compensated for) deteriorates to such a point where it does actually hurt when the person has to ‘re-learn’ how to walk/ throw/ whatever properly again.

Could it just be that? Is it like you’ve over stretched?

    Hi Lisa,

I’m guessing your physio didn’t offer a reasoned explanation of how fasting might cause your symptoms….?! Lots of people have opinions, but very few are qualified…

I would have thought there are a lot of more plausible explanations than fasting. For example, I had similar, which appear to have been caused by uterine fibroids. Symptoms massively improved (in fact gone!) since starting intermittent fasting. I understand celiac disease can also result in leg pain and weakness? I’m sure other conditions may also.

I would not worry about fasting. It’s likely to be beneficial.

Good luck with getting a diagnosis.

Lisa, do you perhaps have psoriasis? Plantar fasciitis often accompany psoriatic arthritis. So does spondylitis , which causes pain in lower back, sacral iliac area, and hips. Just a thought.
I have pain in that area and am currently being evaluated for PsA, and have not noticed any change with fasting. I think maybe your therapist could be adding 2and 2 and getting 5.

Good luck and please keep us posted on how you are getting on. Phyllis

I would think it could be referred from your back, especially if you’ve had foot problems.
