8 months ago my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and that I should lose some weight. I started off with the diet put forward by the British Heart Foundation which is based on the concept of balanced meals with the emphasis on defining and limiting portion sizes.
I lost some weight but very slowly so in November last year I began the fast diet. My fasting days are very simple. I have 500 to 600 calories for breakfast and that is it for the next 24 hours, apart from water, tea and coffee.
In recent weeks I have shifted my breakfasts away from cereal and toast to a far more protein based meal with a slice of bread, topped with a kipper and further topped by two poached eggs – with lots of black pepper it is sensationally delicious – and a slice of fresh pineapple.
For me this keeps the hunger pangs at bay.
The result is that I have lost 2 stone in the last 8 months and my blood sugar levels have dropped significantly into the normal zone.
Another stone to go and my BMI reading will no longer classify me as overweight.
I am really pleased with the fasting diet. For me it is simple and achievable. I know that the approach of others will be different but I just wanted to share an example of the diet working.
