5:2 Fasting and Protein Supplements

  • I am just starting (on day 2 right now) the 5:2 diet, and I have a question about taking supplements such as creatine and whey protein powders during the diet. I lift weights for exercise and keeping tone. I do not lift to body build. I do take creatine and whey protein powder supplements to build lean muscle. Is there any reason why I should not take these supplements while on the 5:2 diet? Also, is it better to weight train during a fasting day or on a non fasting day? Thx

    There is no reason why you cannot continue to take supplements but you’ll need to check how many calories they contain if you are taking them on fast days.

    As for weight training on a FD, the best thing you can do is try it and see how you feel as it varies from person to person.
