  • Day 12 Belfast NFD
    I have a full house this morning, because both sons are home for the weekend with their girlfriends, so mummy duck is clucking around her ducklings. I just love it!
    We ate out last night, and I made good food choices – lots of fish – until the desert, when I indulged in a crΓ¨me brΓ»lΓ©e, which was delicious. Sadly I wasn’t so controlled about the gin and tonics! Lush! Enjoyed the rugby too. Despite my English roots, I have lived in Ireland for nearly 40 years, so my alliegance lies with Ireland. They well and truly made amends for last week’s disappointment!

    @biddiev thank you for the words of encouragement. A new week is starting tomorrow πŸ‘
    @Mimiogirl. Yes I would love your recipe for kefir.
    Many congratulations to @pashaw, @dyask, @ elektron, for your awesome loss, and anyone else I’ve missed of course!
    @lilymartin, the northern hemispherre perception is that Australia is always warm and sunny (although having spent a month in your beautiful country, I realise that’s of course not true, but the TV always shows us blue skies and β˜€οΈ . ) but it’s shocking to hear about your floods. That news never reaches our media and the awful impact it has on lives and livestock. Clearly your fat fairy is in some frequent flyer programme, because she wreaked havoc here too!
    @ADF well done you. Not so much a little victory but a very big one I think.
    You’re right SCS this WOL will never be over. It is the key to arriving at a healthy body weight and maintaining it. I would love to say @ JoJo58 that I would join you in your scales embargo but for me it’s a control thing too. I don’t know if I could do it and I think you’re further along your journey than me. Ultimately, I don’t want to weigh or count calories daily. When we were travelling for 2 months, I didn’t weigh then at all because there were no scales, but ignoring them in the bathroom is another matter.

    I’m away this Thursday to my sister’s in Northampton for a few days, so am going to do a b2b Mon/Tues if anyone wants to join me?
    Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone. Cheerio

    Day 12 – Cumbria UK – NFD

    Broke my fast with brunch at 1130 this morning – feeling good today – 54.4kg this morning so still maintaining below 55kg!

    @lany36 – Happy 15th anniversary for Thursday and a lovely weekend away to look forward to by the sounds of it! With regards to your idea of doing a b2b2b – why stress yourself so much??? Have you done just a b2b before? that might be more doable and then eat mindfully on the other days staying just below your TDEE – stress is no good for weight loss!

    @ciren2 – So very happy for you and yes I did it too! though it was one of the hardest FDs I have done for a while but felt really good this morning when I woke up and strangely was not feeling hungry – how strange our bodies and mind can be? I hope that @bert1802 also saw the FD through to completion……..
    @reid – as Ciren2 says we are all here together and we support each other, so keep checking in and you will have a breakthrough sooner than later – remember together we are stronger!

    I’ll be joining @ciren2 for a FD tomorrow as well – Mondays is normally a FD for me – I enjoy that resetting day after what is normally NFD weekends with at times some overindulgence!

    I enjoy reading all the posts, cannot comment on them all, but fascinating to hear what works for different people and the different view points!!
    It keeps me motivated to stay with this WOL – my 2 x FDs each week and mindful eating on a 16:8 pattern on my NFDs has certainly worked for me – both with regards to weight loss and the gains from a health view point has been awesome!

    “Never compare your journey with someone else’s. Your journey is your journey not a competition”

    Day 12…..Florida….. NFD

    Wow…. I didn’t get a chance yesterday evening to read any ones posts, so combined with this mornings, it took a minute to get through them.
    Please forgive me if, I don’t post everyone’s names, I was just to lazy to go and get my note pad!

    Let’s talk about being cold……. Even before this WOL, I have always been that one person in the group that no matter what the temp is, I will always be cold. I especially hate in the middle of summer going to any store or restaurant and not enjoy myself because the air is blowing so cold I freeze to death. Even now in the midst of our winter the average temp is high 70’s, yesterday 76 and I’m wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. Needless to say, I didn’t notice the cold affect of FD.
    I did want to mention some remedies that work wonders for me, maybe they will help you all.
    Fluffy socks….. you know those really soft kind……. I know they are note the cutest things but they do help, they don’t stick to you feet and give you enough room for your feet to breathe….. sorry Johnny, I don’t think they make them for men but if want to get a pair and wear them around the house I won’t tell anyone!
    A hot shower… don’t get your head wet!
    Spicy tea or soup……..
    hopefully those things will help!

    LynZ….. I won’t be doing an FD, Monday as that is date day with the hubby and dinner and 50 shades with the girls in the evening. But I am planning a b2b for Tues and Wed.

    Reid…… You are not alone in your struggles, I’ve been sitting here in the dirt for a couple days now! Just hang tight, my friend, you and I will make it back to the wagon, just keep posting and reading, that’s the key!

    So, many of you know, I’ve been sitting here on the side of the road and in the dirt since Wed., yesterday FD attempt was no better. I don’t have every high hopes for today either. However, when I do stumble, I watch the scales like a hawk. My weight has pretty much stayed the same until this morning. So, I get up this morning and jump on the scales and would you know it. it shows I’m down a pound!?! What the hell?!? I’m down!?!
    Come again!?! I said that out loud, honey comes to the door and says…. “who are you talking to” Why are you listening at the door? ” I’m not, but your yelling? ” I’m not yelling! Okay, what ever….. but yelling to yourself, behind a closed bathroom door, may constitute as erratic behavior fit for the crazy house…… Thanks hun, Dooley noted!
    First off, I wasn’t yelling just a bit on the offensive I think?
    Still it’s weird, anyone’s experience this type of thing?

    Well, I must be off, my coffee is cold and the kids are now wandering around the kitchen for Sun. Morning breakfast.

    Cheerio!

    Good morning!

    FD for me today.
    I have been sticking to 23/1 with one meal for the past week but I did end up having 2 meals yesterday which was a NFD. I didn’t count calories or stress about eating. i did eat some Girl Scout cookies and bread but it wasn’t where I went crazy. Actually, overall I am pleased with my eating yesterday even though my intention was was to have the one meal.
    I didn’t get very much sleep the night before, I know it had to do with the strong coffee I had so no more coffee from work. I will make it from my decaf beans at home.
    Anyway, I was tired and just did’t have confidence at all but I had already planned a date with a friend who I have not seen in months. I wanted to hide and stay home as because of all the weight I have gained but I went and we had spa day with massage. I felt so much better afterwards. The massage helped with my tight shoulders and neck but seeing my friend and connecting with her gave me more emotional energy and to think I just wanted to hibernate at home!
    It gave me a shot of good feeling and connection that I needed. I am doing better and better everday day.
    Yesterday was another victory for me. I was able to have a great NFD and show myself that I can have a normal NFD. The best of all I was not fighting with myself – feeling guilty or berating myself for what I ate or how much.

    I am going to stick to 23/1 with Saturday’s NFD with more meals. Today will be a water fast for me. Lots of tea! What I think I will try to do this wee is 500 calories one meal on Monday and Wed and eat one meal normal TDEE on Tuesday and Thursday, Friday. I am curious as to see how it goes. Will have to take some notes to see how I feel. I have not stepped on a scale and don’t plan to. I will wait till the end of the month.

    Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I am finding that I look forward to posting. I try to read all th e post during the day on my phone. It helps to read all the ups and downs and in-between but mostly it is inspirational to see that we don’t give up and when we fall, we all get back up and try again.

    I also love reading NFD turning into FD – so awesome! or FD not quite making and turing into NFD but with resolve to get back at it.

    It is quite warm here in Texas. I actually would like it to be colder like some of you are experiencing. i would love the chill working to help me melt the fat.

    Cheers!

    Day 12– Colorado USA — NFD

    Woke up this morning & couldn’t believe my face in the mirror.
    Peri-orbital swelling, puffy around eyes & full puffy face. Stepped on scale (in birthday suit, of course) and I’m up 3 pounds from yesterday. Haha! Made me chuckle! Those scales are such liars…

    I am not worried. I know that 3 albs is just retention. Yesterday I ate a giant mixed green salad with grilled chicken & balsamic vinegar for breakfast. Yummy. Skipped lunch. Then went out for Date Night with DH for sushi/sashimi. I’m sure the dipping sauce for the gyoza pork dumplings & the soy sauce had WAY more sodium than I am accustomed to… so my face (& the scales) BLEW UP.

    Tomorrow is a FD, so I will be sure to drink loads of fluids today & tmr to flush this out. No worries.

    (Besides, that sushi was so worth it!!)

    @lynzm I’m in for mon- wed B2B!!

    Day 12 – USA – NFD

    Georgia/USA/Day 12/NFD

    Day 12 – Brittany, France – NFD

    Day 10: FD; Day 11: NFD. Weighed in yesterday at 68.1 kg. Got a crazy week coming up so I won’t be able to fast at all; hoping to maintain my weight at around 68 kg if possible by narrowing down my eating window to 8 hours, and by drinking more water (and teas!) and also some kefir every day.

    Day 12 USA (Illinois) – NFD

    I must make today a very controlled day. Will try for just 1000 calories or less. I make an Italian stew with no carbs, rather like minestrone without pasta. I bought some good whole grain bread that will go with. Maybe a small salad for a single meal day.

    Most interesting reading posts with helps and smiles. That “fat fairy” sure does get around! Seemed like she visited me in the night for a few months, and then the jeans would not button. Since then, it’s been a constant battle to keep her at bay.

    I do enjoy other’s reviews and comments about movies, concerts, etc. I thought “La La Land” was interesting. No real memorable music to my ear though. Our youngest daughter went to Univ. of Michigan with the lyricists Pasek and Paul. They were a couple years behind her in Musical Theater. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasek_and_Paul

    @annemarilyn – Sandi Patty farewell tour concert – enjoy! I have sung her music for decades and probably will continue to as long as I can keep doing modulations up and up. πŸ™‚

    Here’s to more Onward and Downward!

    Day 12 SnowyMaine NFD

    Good morning all – got thru yesterday close to TDEE – I can do better today. Once again that open floor plan got me – pantry kept calling. Probably 2 handfuls of triscuits over my limit! Not helping that this is the 3rd grey, snowy day in a row. No power beach walk – won’t be any ’till Tuesday – we’re set for another blizzard tonight. Only exercise yesterday was bringing in firewood – heading out now to do more.

    You’ve heard the saying: ” firewood keeps you warm many ways – cutting the trees, chopping the wood, stacking the wood, lugging the wood & finally burning the wood! We’re considering swapping the fireplace to propane – but then there goes a huge winter activity! Used to be an avid skier, but past few yrs, friends have wiped out & done some serious body damage. So, now I’m too cautious…even xcountry skiing makes me nervous. The thought of being laid up & not being able to walk scares the heck out of me!

    Bert1802 – when I worked for Jenny Craig & a client plateaued for no reason, we would suggest “shocking their metabolism” by increasing their calories by 100 or so – would work like a charm & they’d lose! Then back to the lower count. Bodies are very strange machines!

    Make it a great day, everybody – I know I can do better!

    We have some impressive losses on this thread, including those lost prior to fasting. Big cheer for you all. I have achieved many goals in my life but few have been as difficult as weight loss. Do not underestimate this task we have taken on. I am trying to loose a whole person worth of weight to make what’s left more maneageable in my old age. It sad that we didn’t know about fasting earlier. It was considered unhealthy to fast, we thought anyone considering it was insane. How wrong we were!

    Thanks to Doctors and Scientists we are learning more about weight loss everyday due to the medical profession realising that obesity is now a major concern for most countries. The Western World and its junk food has created an epidemic of carb and sugar addicted people who are crashing the health systems financially with medical side effects such as diebetes and heart disease. Let’s not become a statistic. Keep fasting, keep moving and kick those refined carbs and sugar even if only 2 days per week.

    Don’t forget to have some fun and relaxation too.

    2nd post,

    Just put a wild boar & apple sausage casserole in the slow cooker to portion and freeze for NFDs, it requires red wine……..how much you ask???

    As LITTLE as possible, as I intend to polish off the remainder of the bottle!!!!

    So stupid, thought I could manage to extend dry January (well from the 9th anyway!) until B’day on the 24th. I know some of you will now be busily typing your encouragement for me to “PUT IT DOWN”, love you guys, but don’t bother, I polished off 1st glass just during the browning process!!

    Surprised I’m actually typing this coherently, as that one glash is makin me a wittle bot wooooooozyyyyyyyy!

    Hi,

    So a little POCKET has sprung up.

    B2B2B I was planning to do FDs M, T to W afternoon.

    @lynzm
    @lany36 I know you were going to try and attempt this! You up for a pocket group?
    @mamacat
    @debster251 joining for M and T
    @ciren2 joining for M

    Anyone else want to opt in and I will add u to my list I keep in my pocket and hopefully this will help knowing someone is doing the same and being part of a group that’s keeping u especially in their thoughts.

    Whatever day you do all, hope it goes well, we are nearly at the half way mark for Feb. My goal was 7lb, I weighed in today 4lb loss. I might be able to make that goal if I stick to it. More energy and feeling less bloated are good side effects for me.

    My plan is one meal a day and lots of warm water and lemon through the day.

    Day 12 Canada NFD

    Day 12, NFD, Rocky Mountains, US

    Hi,

    NFD yesterday, indulged a bit but stayed within my TDEE. Nevertheless, 2 pounds more today. Probably water retention or whatever a body does. Today another NFD but without Valentine chocolates.
    Love to read all the posts!

    Ciao and all the best!!!

    Day 12- Montreal- NFD

    I didn’t show as much restraint as I’d have liked last night but had fun and enjoyed myself. I’ll be more careful today. I’ll also prep my meals this afternoon for my FD tomorrow.

    Day 12/ U.K./ NFD

    2nd post – Not sure if any will find this useful but it was from our second challenge when some wanted to incorporate some exercise.

    I am conscious I don’t know you, I don’t know what health issues you may have or what your capabilities are. If necessary clear things with your Dr or don’t do it – this is entirely your decision and not an absolute for the challenge. These are only suggestions.
    I have the fast exercise book by Dr Mosley so some ideas are taken from that – other bits and pieces are ideas of mine and how to incorporate HIT in your life. You may be able to come up with your own. I want you to think ahead and get planning how you can work this into your routine and what days you are going to do it – remember anything is better than nothing but if you don’t want to that is also fine.
    You can apply HIT (High Intensity Training) to anything – walking, swimming, cycling, jogging, housework, skipping, dancing. I am also conscious of those who don’t like exercise but I would still like you to think of ways to incorporate something a little more that you may not even consider as exercise per say.
    Do you have stairs in your house? Go up as fast as you can and as safely as you can – walk down slowly and go up again as fast as you can. If possible repeat 5 times. Would you be able to do this daily?
    Do you swim? while swimming lengths, swim one length as fast as you can – then go back to normal and repeat as often as you can during your swim.
    Don’t go swimming or have stairs (or access to flight of steps) can you jog on spot or do you have a mini trampoline? Set the kitchen timer for 10 secs. Start a gentle run on spot or on trampoline or take alternative steps on a small step or bottom stair – then for 10 secs go hell for leather – if you can’t manage that do the same as before but incorporate your arms – raise and lower or swing – then go back to normal and when ready speed up again repeat 5 times or try this with jumping jacks – can’t do arms just to legs.
    Do you walk? as you approach a marker like a lamp post, driveway or tree speed up to another marker ahead – relax and continue to speed up and back to normal along the rest of your route – if you can jog – jog in between markers.
    The HIT is entirely up to you – do you dance think of a slow dance and then think of punk or rock and alternate between the two. Washing a kitchen floor do it the usual way but every now and then give those shoulders a work out and move the mop or brush vigorously. Anything you can think of doing at different rates can be counted as HIT. Even sitting and you can raise/swing your arms vigorously is still a form of HIT.

    Day 12 UK NFD

    So far, so good! Weighed in after 2nd FD this week and I have now lost 6 pounds since we started. I am delighted πŸ˜€ Jeans already feeling a bit more loose and if we keep this up we are all going to look fab by the summer and feel great too.

    Enjoying all your posts, I wonder how many countries are involved in this challenge?

    FD tomorrow which for me means fruit teas all day till 5pm then one lovely dinner of 350 calories and a diet hot choc in the evening.

    Keep going everyone, this really works!

    Day 11 UK NFD

    Juust checking in.

    Day 12 Norway NFD
    May try b2b Monday and Tuesday – a bit scary as I’ve never done more than one day before. I’m trying to catch up from a missed day. I’ll be following here for support.

    Coda,
    I do HIT daily 5 times per week during my walk, my swim, my dance class. I chill on the weekends. Well actually I still do a dance class on Sat and sometimes an Aquafit class on Sundays. But I think the ‘stairs run’ is an area I could develop, I still get puffed out walking up hills and stairs but I don’t need to stop for a breather anymore, even very steep hills.

    I think non exercisers would not appreciate HIT, they don’t enjoy getting hot, sweaty and out of breath usually. I honestly feel swimming and walking is the best introduction to exercise for them. I can recommend kettlebell swinging, check it out on line. For fitness gurus try ‘skipping’. Warning it nearly killed me. I have an 84 year old friend from Yoga who has only ever done skipping as a form of exercise(30 minutes non stop every day) She can still run up 6 flights of stairs, is in excellent health, very fit, slim and flexible and is on her 4 th partner. She won’t marry him because she killed off her previous husbands. Not deliberately of course, just wore them out as they tried keeping up with her. She said to me (politely) I think you should lose that fat my dear, it does nothing for you, without it you would be practically perfect. (she obviously needs glasses) Ha Ha (Dorothy is one of a kind-a real inspiration) she also eats like a bird, no surprise really is it?

    DAY 12 – Cardiff UK – NFD

    Starting weight : 173.3lb

    Today’s weight : 167.7lb (5.6lb)

    Still going strong with no sugar and under TDEE but up a pound this morning after NFD. Another NFD today then fasting tomorrow so hopefully will reverse this blip before weighing on Tuesday.

    Planning to fast M, T and F this week.

    Monday seems a popular day, is this going to be ‘Mass Fast Monday’?

    Good luck everyone, the support is great and I learn something new from all the posts.

    Aussie day 13 FD sorry i haven’t been on for a few days but i am still here simply haven’t been able to do any FD’s. last week the heat made me feel sick not used to so many days of around 40c now to catch up on posts.

    Coda – thank you so much for making sure all bases were covered! Not too many of us now have any excuse to not exercise HIT!! You are an inspiration!

    Day 13 FD NZ
    So I have a pocket group of fasters with me as I begin Day one of a three day fast
    @lynzm M T Breaking fast W
    @mamacat M T W
    @debster M T
    @ciren2 M
    @mariaw M T
    And maybe @pasha M T??

    I’m so happy to have you all here beside me this week, it will be a challenge but I’m ready for it.
    I have approx 300cals planned for each day, only if I need them at dinner time. I can go higher and I may do a liquid day today but I find enormous comfort in having that small meal there if I need it. The challenge for me is lasting three days, not liquid only,…one big challenge at a time is plenty lol.

    @at – thanks for your comments about not stressing myself too far with btbtb.
    I committed to 4:3 for Feb, and as I am away four days this week and won’t be fasting at all those days I don’t have a choice but to do Mon Tues Wed all together as my FDs.
    I know we always have choices in life, but prior to putting on weight I was very strict with my eating habits and never had a problem size wise. Even now I’m not considered overweight by BMI, waist to hip ratio, etc etc but I am overweight by my personal standards which are the only standards I actually care about where my body is concerned.
    Which leads me to my point – being at my comfort weight/size required commitment to my goals, in part, my goal for Feb was to complete 4:3 every week and I have no intention of backing down from that commitment. Personally, it would be far more stressful for me to fail than it will be to do 3 FDs in a row.
    I’m not thrilled about 3 days in a row, but sometimes committing to a goal requires sacrifice and I’m reminded of a quote by D. H. Lawrence which will help push me along (as well as having my fellow pocketers)
    “I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.”

    Thanks for joining me pocket people, together we will succeed in our goals.

    Lany36
    I can join you for 3 days too. I can have the soup I just made, it will last 3 days. It’s effectively 23/1 anyway, fit well with this weeks activities, busy Thursday to Sun.

    Good luck pocketeers all

    Yay added all pocketeers to my list x

    Day 12 – SW WA USA – NFD

    I’ll join in on a FD tomorrow. I often do a M-T but my evening ESL class on Tues, Valentine’s day will include Tres-leches cake, courtesy of a couple of my students who own a Mexican restaurant. Maybe I could just make that my calories for the day.

    SongbirdMe – Yes, Sandi Patty was great! It was special that her husband and some of her children joined her. Another treat was having Veritas join her – a group that has “several Josh ” (as Sandi put it), plus an amazing bass.

    Day 13 NFD Melb Aus
    @fishing gran I’m sorry you are feeling unwell. Hope you get relief from the weather soon. What a bizarre summer in Aus. Floods in WA, heatwave across the north and very cold weather here in Melbourne today.

    Day 12, Calif, USA

    I’m disappointed with the last two days – stressed and eating too much. I feel more sluggish again. Hope to get back on track today.

    Day 11 – NFD – Toronto
    Day 12 – NFD – Toronto

    Between starting my period and a Saturday clubbing night with friends and lots of snow, I’ve felt pretty sapped of energy all weekend but have also had lots of time to relax (lots of curled up on the couch with movie(s) time) and a bubble bath, all good for the soul! I’m now getting geared up to make some meals for the week – I’m making a roasted broccoli and shitake mushroom dish and a south Indian egg curry. If you read my last post, this week was a lazy week, a.k.a. I also have a rotisserie chicken from Costco to eat with my veggies πŸ™‚ Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend / has a good Monday!

    Day 12 Portugal NFD

    Not a good day in terms of food intake! I need a FD or two. Will be doing 4:3 this week again.

    Can I join the pocket fasters Monday to Wednesday please? These are my usual days for fasting and it will be great to know that others are fasting too. I think the list is as follows.

    @lany36 M T W
    @lynzm M T Breaking fast W
    @mamacat M T W
    @debster M T
    @ciren2 M
    @mariaw M T
    And maybe @pasha M T??
    @jojo58 M T W
    @erika45 M T W

    hope it goes well for everyone.

    Day 11 : Cheshire, UK : NFD
    Day 12 : Cheshire, UK : NFD

    Just returned from London, so very tired. I have to admit I did indulge on Friday evening and today. I was quite mindful on Saturday. It was a really lovely weekend but I’m very tired now. Haven’t had chance to catch up on all posts and, I accidentally removed the email notification of posts, will catch up tomorrow.

    Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

    Cheerio for now πŸ™‚

    “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live” Jim Rohn

    Is it too late to start February challenge?

    Day 13 – Tokyo Japan – FD #11 80.2kg

    I was toying around with the idea of doing a two day fast, I just don’t feel up to doing it yet. Instead I’m going to push the exercise a bit. I haven’t been exercising regularly for the past few weeks and it is time to get back into the swing of it. Today my focus will be on my mid-section and some upper body.

    Bert1802 – I find that I tend to feel colder on fast days lately. It isn’t huge deal and probably driven by the general coolness and cold this time of year. Still it is noticeable. In the morning it doesn’t bother me, but as I get tried it because a bigger issue.

    jojo58 – A year ago I wouldn’t have considered fasting. I knew about it but it just wasn’t an option. If I had been more open minded I would have been in maintenance mode for a couple of years now! Even though I lost about 2/3rd of my weight without fasting, most of that was hard and stressful. Fasting is actually much easier and at least for me much more effective. I don’t think I would have got down to the 80kg level without fasting.

    My score card:
    * Eating less moving more – temporary positive, long term negative
    * Cutting refined sugar – Big time positive!
    * Fasting – Big time positive – generally seems to accurate fat loss.
    * Exercise – Very positive but no so great for weight loss. Helps with losing fat but mostly is about building up the body.
    * Cutting carbs – I’m on the fence here. Living in carb heavy Japan I see many underweight people that eat huge amounts of carbs. It seems helpful to reduce carbs but it I’m not convinced it is a great solution.
    * Eating more healthy fats – I do believe in this, mostly because I like the taste. At some point favor wins over reason.

    Day 11 Ireland NFD
    Day 12 NFD
    So happy for NFDs, Im finding the FDs really tough. I get cold, and have a low mood from about 2pm onwards. Hoping it’ll get easier as the weeks go by.

    Day 13 FD cold country West Australia
    So this is why I weigh daily but don’t get too hung up on the number. Last night just before I got into bed – 74.5 kgs ( 2 kgs up since Friday!!), this morning 73.1 kg – 1.4 kg loss overnight!. Now I might be a restless sleeper but to lose that much overnight??!! So it just shows a basic downward trend and happy with that.
    Trying for a FD but not sure as feeling a bit unwell.
    DH going off to our other block near the south coast. Due to the floods and roads being washed away he now has to take a 300 -400 km detour to get there and they aren’t even sure that all the roads will be open!.
    Across the country south east Australia was the hottest place on the planet yesterday and they have over 60 bushfires burning out of control. Very crazy.
    Have a good day all.

    Day 12 | NFD | Bucks UK

    There is a link between wind levels and children’s/animals behaviour maybe there is also one between bizarre weather and people’s ability to follow their fasting plans. It is certainly much harder to resist food when you are cold and fasting definitely makes you colder. Bearing that in mind what strategies can we put in place during these times?

    A) drink more hot drinks
    B) get more exercise but dress warmly first
    C) have a hot bath or shower
    D) look at your weight loss record so far and pat yourself on the back
    E) phone/ text/email a friend or relative and remind them you love them
    F) plan your food/ recipes for next week
    G) start knitting, drawing, sewing, reading, watch a favourite film
    H) learn how to say ‘I do not need food in 6 languages’
    I) if you speak another language teach us the above
    J) chat to your cyber friends on here
    K) go to bed early(that’s what I did tonight)

    Can you add to the list? Let’s get to Z

    What ‘not to do’- sabotage on your fasting plan by eating SUGARY/ HIGH foods, have a healthy snack instead

    Good Luck Guys- you have choices, more than one

    @jojo58
    love the list – especially number H !
    Je n’ai pas faim – I think , dredging up memories of school girl French a LONG time ago – means ‘ I am not hungry’ in French. Happy to be corrected.
    L) read and catch up on all the missed posts on this forum ( slowly if needs be) wrapped in a blanket, wearing ugg boots or woollen socks. Re-read ones that resonate e.g. HIIT ideas.
    M) KonMari an area of the house in 15 minutes so you have to move fast – suggest NOT the pantry or kitchen if hungry
    N) put on an old record or tape ( yes I still use my ones with songs from the 70s and the girls in my exercise classes LOVE them) and dance like a crazy person!πŸ€”

    Day 12. Quebec. Nfd

    @jojo58
    I just love your list of good ideas ! Cool !
    I don’t need this food in French is ” je n’ai pas besoin de cette nourriture “. I guess we will receive other translations from different parts of the world !

    I will be joignin the group of pocket fasters tomorrow, Monday Feb 13.

    My husband and I are leaving in our RV ( recreational Vehicule, a small camper similar to a Westfalia ) going camping in Florida on the Gulf of Mexico untill mid-april. I know, life is difficult ! LOL. And we are bringing or scales. Both of us will continue fasting on Mondays and Thursdays.

    I will keep in touch with this group of wonderfull people whenever I can access Wifi.

    Bye bye for now. XXX

    That’s the spirit! We are on a roll, positive thinking.

    The challenge is there. Portable scales are essential travel aid. Mine are the size of an iPad mini, perfect. Improves your balance too .Ha Ha!

    I lost weight on my month long vacation( that’s a first for me)

    Spanish – no tengo hambre

    In German:

    Ich habe keinen Hunger.
    (I am not hungry)

    Ich brauche kein Essen.
    (I don’t need food)

    Great idea!!!😊😊😊

    Day 13 Sydney – FD

    Normal Monday Fast Day with nothing but tea and water until a veggie burger and salad this evening. Why are Mondays easier than Thursdays?

    have a great Monday when you get here everyone. It has been so hot in Sydney that it has been hard to get out and exercise so I am enjoying the cooler (high 20’s – 80’s for our American friends) weather and have resolved to hit my Fitbit goal of 15,000 steps per day this week.

    Day 12, NFD, Wintery East Coast, USA
    Felt in control most of the weekend and still no crazy cravings or overeating. I think is a combination of eliminating sugar this month and the intermittent fasting. didn’t get much exercise as second blizzard kept us in #cabinfever. Not dreading FD tomorrow and planning a hearty veggie omelet for my FD evening meal. When I do that, I have better luck on the scale the next morning. Best to you all.

    Italian- Io non ho fame

    This is going to be a great resource for fasting travellers

    How about adding slang too?

    I bet the Aussies/Scots/Irish/ Londoners have a slang phrase.
