  • Hello everyone

I have been on the 5:2 diet since January 14 and have had good results on Cholestreol Levels

Last week something extraordinary happend to me. The Office restaurant has been closed for two weeks and I have eaten bagels at the local baker. Nice juicy bagels With white cheese and salad. It seems to be With Walnuts so I asked the baker about this yesterday. He told me that it isnt Walnuts but hazelnuts. Thing is that I am allergic to hazelnuts. Im extremely allergic to peanuts, casher nuts etc, and pretty allergic to hazelnuts. But now: NO reaction!? Can it be the 5:2 diet? Anyone??

Hi tnegaa, I guess it could be.

5:2 definitely has an effect on IBS (many report a vast improvement or ‘cure’, although some report that it makes them worse) and many report that eczema reduces and/or goes completely (‘goes completely’ is my experience). It can also normalise blood pressure, reduce cholesterol (although not for everyone), reduce or cure spots/acne breakouts (my personal experience again) and signifcantly improve menstrual problems (me again).

Maybe ask your doctor for an allergy test to see if you are still allergic to everything you think you are? Otherwise I’d probably recommend that you don’t tempt fate by testing the theory out yourself deliberately. You did it by accident with the hazelnuts and no harm done apparently but you don’t want to push it un;less you know for sure.

Oh & BTW – none of the health benefits mentioned above are permanent unless you stick to 5:2 (or 6:1 after maintenence point if you prefer). I recently had a 5:2 ‘holiday for my birthday week followed by my menstrual cycle. It was no where near as horrendous as it used to be (pre-5:2) but it was a painful reminder of what 5:2 has done for me and that I need to keep on it.
