  • How about just having one decent meal at lunchtime every day and skipping breakfast and supper. Surely this would work too, wouldn’t it?

    Hi Vero

If I remember right thats how I started .. the one meal at lunchtime on fast days.

It worked very well too. Actually you have now got me thinking why did I change it.

Or on rereading this… are you saying to just eat one meal every day. If so how many Cals .

Years ago a friend lost weight by just having an evening meal when she ate whatever she wanted regardless.. Xx

I’ve had one meal a day for the last 5 years. I put on about 2 stone.

    Hi Vero,

You don’t really give enough information. Are you saying that you want to eat your TDEE at lunch instead of spreading the TDEE over three meals? That way you are “fasting” for 24 hours? At some point you have to run a caloric deficit otherwise Im not sure how you can lose weight?

I liked Heron’s reply BUT I reckon my lunch is around 750 k/cal in all. The rest of the time I just drink coffee without sugar.

I’ve just celebrated losing 2 and a 1/2 stones in 8 months. My version is on fasting days to skip breakfast, makeup a box of a chopped apple, chopped 3 – 5 celery sticks, a segmented orange and 15g of raisins – a total of around 150 calories. I allow myself to eat from this box for the rest of the day, drinking water and green tea and then in the evening, I have a 350 calorie meal, it works really well as I said 2 1/2 stone gone and still losing, albeit quite slowly.

I have been trying it for over a week and I can’t see a difference on the scale. I think it’s not working well. I don’t feel like I am overeating either, but I don’t count calories. Not only that, I am keeping my carbs below 100. Somedays below 20. Also, I am reducing mu wheat and sugar consumption. Though at this point I can’t let them completely go. Baby steps. I started with IF in March. I started with 16:8 daily fasting. It wasn’t working fast enough…less than a pound a week and I have about 90lb to lose. So anyway, by mid April I had graduated to 18:6 and in early May I was up to 20:4. It was then easy to just do one meal after I got used the 20:4. All in all I have lost 10ish lbs in 10 weeks. Which isn’t horrible, but I expected more since I have been doing IF for 10 weeks. I thought when I went 22:2 that I would really see the weight change, but 1.5 week in and I am the same. I am going to try a longer eat window today. I think I will see the scale go down in the morning…it’s weird, but that happens sometimes. If anyone has any tips???
Also, Heron, how many calories are you eating? How active are you? I am pretty sedentary.

    Hi Pink:

What you are doing is an every day reduced calorie diet. You are using eating windows to help you reduce how much you eat each day. How much and how fast you lose will depend on how much you eat in your eating windows.

    Good Luck!

I do 16:8, plus low carb (very low), plus 1 or 2 fast days. I have to to lose at all. It is possible to eat the wrong thing and still not lose on these plans. It all depends on your chemistry, what you eat, etc.

For example: I can’t eat peanut butter, even though low carb, it packs weight on me. Same with cheeses. I had to experiment to find what worked for me. Try paying very close attention to what you are eating that could possibly be doing you in.
