I had an emergency bowel resection caused by adhesions. My surgeon has now discharged me and all is well but he says it is almost inevitable that it will happen again. He says that if I notice the beginnings of the symptoms I should have liquids only for 24 hours in the hope of clearing it.

Does anyone know if fasting would help or cause harm? I think resting the GI tract would be good but any afraid to try.
