I have decided to post this plea as I have not really been able to read about anyone else finding the same issue. I am 50 years old and have always been relatively fit and slim. I taken a note of my measurements for the last 30 years so have got a very good indication of how much my weight relates to my actual size. I had a knee operation 2 years ago and put on about 5kgs which I have tried to lose through various methods. A friend motivated me to try the 5:2 diet after he lost 12kgs in 3 months. Both my husband and I have been motivated to do this with us having different levels of success. We started for 3 weeks before Christmas, I lost 2.5 kgs and he lost 4kg. Had 3 weeks holiday where we put it all back on. Once back into normal routine we both lost the same amount of weight in the same timeframe. Now 6 weeks later, he has lost 6kgs, with his trousers far too loose and had to go down a size, but I have only lost 3kgs, this elusive 2 kgs seems to be still around my waist and tummy. I have been taking my measurements and have reduced everywhere else, but my waist and tummy stubbornly are exactly the same size. Is this a classic example of middle aged spread? I have always had a flat stomach even after children and it is only the last couple of years that my shape has changed. I have reduced inches everywhere else, even on my wrist. Is this because I did not have a much weight to lose?Friends have suggested that my body has got used to what I am doing so I have, therefore, changed my exercise routine to a more interval based cardio session. Any suggestions or experiences would be useful please!
