  • Hi, I’m a newbie to this forum. This will be my third time on the 5:2. Lost 10lbs the first time but a change of job made it difficult to stick to. The second time was very half-hearted and didn’t lose anything. The recent heat wave in the UK made me realise that if I weighed less I would probably have coped better with the heat. I have, at most, 28 kgs to lose. I’ve also noticed my knees are struggling slightly if I’ve knelt down a can’t get up so easily.

As I’ve never been a keen exerciser and have had many gym memberships over the years I need to do exercise for free as I am unemployed at the moment and I’ve decided that means power walking. I was looking through my cd’s and found that the “Hits of Erasure” from the 80’s/early 90’s to have a very good BPM for this. Or at least 12 to 15 of the tracks. I wondered what other music people walk to. Has anyone else managed to lose weight without having to do high intensity, or group exercise.

I actually LOVE Leslie Sansone’s Walk at Home routines. I do them in my living room and find they are a lot of fun. There’s a plethora on YouTube and I simply select one of them to follow along with for free. I like that they give more of my body a workout than it would have gotten if I were walking outside on my own (though that is good to do as well – very soul renewing!). I also like that the miles are counted for me as I go along so I know exactly how far I’ve walked. Here’s a link to one of Leslie’s workouts that I particularly like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlEVVzbwnQI

Thanks Lael. I’ve been looking on Youtube for ages but all I kept getting are the usual gym type workouts. This looks great, I’m definietly going to try this.
