  • Husband & I are doing this together. He has lost some weight as a vegetarian but not enough, I am not a vegetarian and need to lose 30 kg eventually. I used to fast when I was in my 20s. Time to start again as I become ever more aware of how little food my body needs now that menopause is hissing at me (hot flushes).
We watched Mosely’s show and the benefits seemed remarkable.
    TIME to get spritely again.
I am looking forward to hearing from fellow fasters how they prepare a fun meal of 500 calories on the fasting day.
    Thumbs up to you all.

Congratulations to both of you! Both on the same wagon can only spell success!

Today is the last day of the 1st week. I am so pleased. I am convinced that this is the way forward toward a healthy life. It feels so natural. I had a hard time yesterday on my fasting day. I stretched the 500 Kcals to 550 but I hung in there, solid to the commitment. I slept well, and today I have eaten reasonably. I did finish off the Easter egg present I was given!! Maybe I will go on the house cycle just to get the metabolism going. Tomorrow is another fasting day. We will do it together. We go to Taichi, and then there is the dentist appt. We have some errands and house repairs to do, so I think we will be distracted enough.
I enjoy reading about other people’s experiences.

Thursday this past week was my first fasting day. I last ate at 18h30 Wednesday, had a 360cal meal on Thursday at 12h30 (midpoint between last and first meals) and then ate breakfast Friday morning at 6h30. Not eating until 12h30 was quite easy, but the evening was a bit hard.

I’ll be doing Mondays and Thursdays, so my next fast day is after the weekend. I plan on having a slightly bigger lunch meal.

Good luck with your fast days!

    Thank You PhilPlasma,

We started our 2nd week yesterday. Convinced as ever, having shed some Kg.s.

Today I am fasting out of program because I have caught a bad cold and want to kick body into healing mode.
A 233 breakfast of 2 softboiled eggs, an anchovy, a rye vita cracker and a slice of husbands homemade bread.

Had grated carrot salad with garlic and lemon juice for lunch 45 kcal.

I am so sneezy and head full up, and super sore throat that I am doing all I can to not lose my voice. Once it goes it usually stays away for several days.
I am contemplating doing a this week as a 4:3 by fasting an extra day. It cannot hurt me and that way I will keep husband company on our preplanned days of fasting.

I will be weighing in next Sunday. All my cravings are sticking their heads up over the fence, and yelling at me…. like groaning growling cats.
Evenings are tough, so I try to go to bed earlier than usual.
I am not sleeping enough and that does not help appetite management.

All the best you all out there

Sugar is really a drug, and as such we have to dose it parsimoniously.

non fasting day today. Oatmeal and raspberries, but quantity ended up being less!!!
The weight is starting to come off. I still have to figure out what to do to sleep better.

My wife and I started this week with Monday being our first fast day; we were pleasantly surprised how well it went but the evening was harder as mentioned above. We have decided that Mondays and Wednesdays are to be our fast days as it fits in nicely to our other routines. Both of us play golf but do little other exercise. I am starting the Canadian 5BX plan as my problem is not just being overweight but where it is on my body, I want to move the stuff that has moved South up North again!

I have been doing this way of eating (dont like to call it a diet as I have never been able to stick to any diet) since mid January and have lost a stone and a half have about 4lb to go and I plan to stick with it forever its amazing just to answer the not sleeping point from my own experience. I have my only meal at night and survive all day on herbal tea and a cuppa soup at lunchtime, this way you go to bed feeling satisfied and the sleep depravation does get better as your body gets used to its new routine.

    good luck on your journey

Hey twigglet, I agree with you about calling it a ‘diet’. I call it a ‘program’. Thanks for your description about approaching sleep.
@dereka: I know what you mean about shifting what has moved south northwards. My husband is getting that effect right now. Unfortunately, as a woman north bits are melting along with the southern stuff. That was part of the plan, anyway, because on of my younger sisters ended up getting a double masectomy for breast cancer a few years ago. Less fat = less probability in that region.
Good luck with your new adventure. This is the first time my husband and I have been able to start something like this together. We have both started new paths over the past few years and supported one another in spirit, because the paths were appropriate for the one of us. THIS is something we are both doing together wholeheartedly, and on an equal footing.
We decided on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
I have a headache today but I think part of that is the sinus cold. Got a nap in just before leaving for work today.
    Thanks for messages

beginning of 3rd week!!!! We are calling our 2 of 5 days “Healing Days” as a reflection of what we feel happening on those days.
I shifted my healing day to today Sunday, because Saturday I attended an all-day workshop and decided to follow my husband’s advice and stay on a feeding day for all that work in company. A colleague DID want to go for a drink afterwards and re-hash what we had experienced.

Today, I managed to sleep-in later than usual, and more hours than my mind lets me. I can attest that more hours sleep make hunger pangs fade away. I have had 520 calories (a slurp of before bedtime milk added the 20 kcals). I have been drinking Tuo Cha from the Yunnan and my red clover tisane in large quantities. Last healing day I registered that I had not drunk enough. My body temperature did not drop as low as last Saturday when I got chilled to the bone during the day. The lingering part of my head cold is clearing itself up slowly, and I have less and less of a cough and bronchospasms, both of which could also be thanks to not going outdoors in the chill wet weather today.

Fat is disappearing from the areas of my body where my family is prone to cancer. Despite the weight coming off steadily, the skin is holding its shape better than in the past. I am sure that this is also part of the healing day’s benefits.

Fun side: A pair of jeans fit that I have not been able to get into for a while, I’ll be wearing them to my husband’s music gig tomorrow night!!!
Am headed off to bed a bit earlier than usual.
