  • Started my first fast day on 4 July – and to date have lost 5lbs, although my old scales could be a bit dodgy! Is it worth getting a fancy set of scales to measure everything else. Wondering where I lost the 5lbs from as no difference in hips/waist measurement; perhaps too soon to notice.

Started 13th July in North Somerset but have signed up today. Found the 2 days last week incredibly hard – kept looking in the fridge for miracle low cal sweeties! Much better today. Have even managed to bake a loaf for visitors without tasting any myself (yet!!) PersevereperseverePERSEVERE!!

Hi Potto – how could you manage to make a loaf and not be tempted to try it! I do not cook during a fast day as I have no willpower if it’s something tempting. Husband is having biscuits and cheese for lunch every day. But have got egg and bacon for breakfast tomorrow – something to look forward to. Hope there were no sweeties in the fridge!!!!!!!

    Hello Aoife

5lbs in 11 days is very good. I’ve just started today. Hope I can lose 5lbs in 11 days.

    Good luck.

    Welcome All,
Please read the FAQ’s and remember, this is a way of life NOT a quick fix like all those weird diets that grace the cover of so many magazines.

I measure bust, under bust, waist, hips, thighs and calves. Don’t forget your upper arms, I did and bitterly regret it. I weigh/try on clothes/measure once a week.

Average weight loss is 1 lb a week. Some lose more, some lose less.

I think that you might need new scales!

Body shape changes along with relationship to food happens as the weeks tick by.

You can eat what you like, just not how much you like.

It is a marathon and not a sprint.

I do not recommend digital scales. I can weigh three times in the same spot and I’ll get the three different readings! I’ve gone back to my old style ones- I also weigh 7lbs less on them- bonus!

Aoife123- I’m in wilts too? Where abouts are you?

I did it! My first fast day. The evening was challenging but I drank water and herbal tea when I felt hungry.

This morning I’ve drank 2 glasses of water on rising. Interesting, I don’t want to rush to eat although I am hungry. I intend to eat healthily today. I can feel my determination, just hope it lasts. Reading posts and posting on this site has helped as I don’t feel alone.

I feel very motivated. Thursday is my 2nd fast day this week. I think I will keep Tuesday and Thursday as my fast days.

    Hello Aoife
I managed not to try any of the home baked loaf until the next day!! Had to test my willpower and determination to make this a way of life. I love cooking and so am quite enjoying ways of cutting the calories on fast days by making interesting new combinations. Can thoroughly recommend having veg soup (roasted red pepper particularly good) Beautifully filling!

Are you Potto as in my Potto with a grumpy man? Hilarious if you are! It’s me, Sare if you are. Am currently madly 5:2 ing in France for the Big Five 0 in Sept!
