  • Hi all, hope you’re well.
I did this diet before and really found it worked for me. Fell off the wagon because of work where I get fed 3 meals a day (lucky me) but it’s hard to resist & count calories when someone else is cooking. Due to COVID-19 the way our meals are served when I return to work will change, so I anticipate It will be easier for me to bring my own lunch in on my fast days…. anyway I have a question. I seem to recall that last time I did this diet there was some kind of calculator that I used… so for example say on week one I weighed 12st, fasted for 2 days at 500 calories & lost 2lb…. the next week I would adjust my weight & then on my fast days only eat say 498 calories, the next week readjust my weight & eat a couple less calories again and so on…. is this a thing or am I imagining it? I can’t think I’m smart enough that I made up my own spreadsheet & formula for something like this…. maybe I’m just dreaming it.. anyway. Would be good to know. Thank you.

In the menu (click on bars top right) click on The Diet then on How…..the site’s calculator is there. Good luck with your restart.

Thanks MissyBear… checked that out but it seems more complicated than I remember , I thought it adjusted the calories for the fast days for me… but maybe I just have to do some maths… is it my BMR or TDEE I should be going from? Both seem quite low if I divide them by a quarter… perhaps I just have to stick to 500 to be on the safe side?

TDEE, but 500 would be fine and easier 😉. Michael Moseley’s 5:2 update says 800 calories for both men and women works, although perhaps a little more slowly.

Ok thank you… I’ll just stick with 500 as don’t want to torture myself!! Thanks for your help.. best of luck with your journey.
