  • I have got my head around fast days (well reduced cal days) in that I eat a maximum of 500 cals made up of clean food with no carbs.
My question is about eating TDEE on the remaining 5 days.

Is it important to eat up to your TDEE? What if you eat less? I guess a one off over the week will be ok as your weekly intake will just be slightly less which is good. But what if you do it consistently? Would that be an issue in terms of your body starting to think it needs to conserve energy due to low intake and thus your metabolism slow down?
Im not thinking of doing it I am just trying to understand it better!

    Thanks
    Kay

Hi Kay, I don’t worry about my TDEE and 5:2 works fine for me. I just eat normal portions of normal food on Non Fast Days.
However, some people tend to overeat so much on their Non Fast Days, and find it useful to work out their TDEE and make sure they don’t eat any more than it.

Eating less shouldn’t be a problem (unless it makes you feel so deprived you break out and overeat in a way you don’t want to).

    Good luck with it!
