  • I have been doing this for 2 months, eating absolutely nothing except tea or coffee without sugar on fasting days. I haven’t lost a gram yet. A bit disappointing after all the hype.

You must be eating too much on non FDs if you have not lost any weight after that amount of time.

Have you checked your TDEE, and are you staying within it?

    Vron,

The only reason, believe me, if you’re not loosing any weight (rather fat) is that there’s no calorie deficit at the end. Most of the times, people will either under calculate the calories they eat and/or over calculate the calories they burn through exercise.

There’s nothing but the calorie deficit is the reason.

I disagree with the above posters. I dont think the only answer is that you are eating too much.
Are you exercising too? for 2 weeks i didnt lose a gram, but i was exercising alot, and although the scales didnt change i had lost almost 3 inches from my belly. Did you take your measurements at the start? If so have you noticed a change?
There are other explanations for you not losing.

(Sorry I’m assuming you are a woman here by the way) unless you are using the 2 x 2000 odd calories that you save on your FDs,and majorly overeating on your normal days, then fair enough.

You dont say how much you want to lose. How close are you to your target already?

When there is no change in weight, but reduction in waist size, most of the time its due to the reduction in the visceral fat, which is not common in all the people.

Vron, did you give up? Or just stop posting?

I’ll take a wager that by defying the known laws of physics Vron has made his/her fortune by inventing the world’s first perpetual motion machine/ cold fusion reactor/ time machine and is now busy sunbathing on a giant water-powered yacht off the Bahamas in the future.

Either that or they realised there was no caloric deficit and decided to try a bit harder.

Well, since I gave up the intermittent fasting, I have put on TWO MORE KILOS! So I think I will get back on it. Perhaps also eliminating all sugar and most starches on “normal” days.

That’s one seriously optimistic Heron! I was just interested to know why people give up on the 5:2. I’m on it for the long-term health benefits/delay of Alzheimer’s, cancer etc, and am having no trouble, so wondered if it’s generally those who are wanting to lose weight that struggle/give up, and why.

I’ve just done two consecutive days of fasting because I broke a tooth and am waiting for a dentist’s appointment. The scales show an encouraging 2kilos of (water) loss. I will try to stick at it.
