Hi all,
So I’m a newbie to the 5:2 diet. I’m 27 years old, and have been overweight for most of my life and all of my adult life. I’ve got to the point where I can’t even weigh myself because I am so worried about what the number says, and I know that isn’t healthy! I’m not obese (I asked my doc to tell me if I was), but I am overweight, and I do need to lose weight. I’m going to guess my BMI is around 28-29, which is far too close to obese for my liking! I’m a UK size 14 and would love to get down to a size 8/10. Then once I’m the right size I’ll weigh myself and track that way :p At the moment, I am tracking my progress through measurements.
I’m at 6pm on fast day 1. To be honest, it’s not been so bad – I’ve not really been hungry, just weirdly…zoned out, if that makes sense? I’ve made a giant pot of veggie stew for dinner with some lentils (271 cals). Other than that, I’ve had two sticks of celery, some salt, a tomato, and a diet instant soup thing, which came to around 92 calories. After dinner, I think I’m going to have some frozen fruits and low fat yogurt to bring me up to the full 500cal for the day.
No other diet has worked for me – I’ve been on them bloody all. I hate calorie counting and restricting because I enjoy food and wine, and I find myself becoming consumed with guilt. So, I’m planning to do the super low calorie days twice a week, and go to the gym 3 times a week (on non-fasting days). The lovely thing about this diet is that I get to play around with low calorie recipes, and I love cooking and inventing new dishes. I might even get my boyfriend to eat some of the greenery :p
So, looking forward to meeting you all, and please let me know if you have any tips, tricks, and how you’ve all done 🙂
