  • Good morning! I am so excited to have found this site! I have been experimenting with intermittent fasting for a couple of months. Just watched “Eat Fast & Live Longer” and was blown away by what I saw! I will be 65 next year and am so committed to staying healthy as I age!! I just read Michael and Mimi’s book, which lead me to this website. I only want to lose about 10 pounds and am so interested in the other health benefits that will help me stay healthy as I age! Looking forward to reading all the posts for inspiration and encouragement!

Hi Brenda I just saw the show on telly let me know how you started I just turn sixty and my weight has gotten out of control

Hi Deni-pen! I actually lost almost 20 pounds on Weight Watchers and then decided to experiment with 16:8, which is fasting for 16 hours and eating within an 8 hour window. That was pretty easy! Then I switched to Fast-5, which is fasting for 19 hours and eating in a 5 hour window. Did that for a couple of months. I haven’t really lost anymore weight, but am maintaining. I ran across a Facebook page for 5:2 and someone had posted the link for the documentary. I found the book and read it within a day. I am going to give this a try! I had two fasting days last week and they weren’t too difficult, but I fear I ate two much on the non-fasting days! So I am starting a new week and will try again. I would like to fast today, Sunday, and tomorrow. I just want to see if I can do it two days in a row! The documentary got me so excited about the other health benefits! I would advise you to read the book and then do whatever works for you! Good luck and post your progress please!!

Good morning Brenda well I finally got on the scales and I could cry. I finally reached the hundred kilos. I Am on Christmas leave at the moment and during this time I need to get my life under control. I was going to hit the gym hard but that is not what was in the telly show so I need to work out what it is that is going to work for me.

I think I will start with a fasting day. So here goes

    Hi Deni and welcome:

At the start, work on doing your two diet days each week correctly (500 or fewer calories) and don’t worry about anything else. Once you have done four to six weeks of successful diet days (8 to 12 diet days), you can reevaluate.

And don’t expect to lose all of your weight quickly. Although some people experience quite a bit of weight loss early, not everyone does and over time, the average weight loss on 5:2 is about a pound a week.

Here is some information for those just starting 5:2:

    Good Luck!
