  • Hello all I’m Lisa and I need to lose 4 stone. I’ve been struggling with my weight all my life and the fast diet is my latest challenge. I’m on day one with 500 calories and have been pleasantly surprised so far how easy it is. I’ve literally only eaten an orange so far but planning a yummy two egg omelette in a bit so can’t wait for that. Let me know how you are all getting on and any tips you could share would be great. I’m in Eastbourne in the UK by the way 😊

Hi Lisa, I’m Grace! This is my first fast day as well. I’m in Cambridge, MA in the US so it’s only 11:30 here, but I’m trying to see how long I can put off my first meal. So far so good! Usually I eat breakfast every morning around 8:30, so I thought I’d be getting hungry for sure by now… fingers crossed lol.

Hi Grace great to hear from you! I got hungry throughout the day but I just kept drinking water. I had an orange about 12.30 and have now just had a two egg omelette with mushrooms and I’m completely full lol. It’s so weird. I’ve only had 248 calories so far so I’m wondering whether I have to eat exactly 500 Cals or can do less? Good luck! I definitely find eating less first thing better for me but it doesn’t suit everyone 😉

Congratulations, Lisa and Grace, on your first fast day! Keep up the fluids, and be kind to yourselves always. I wish you every success with your weight loss goals.

Thank you Lolly. How long have you been doing it for?

This is my 5th week of IF, and I can honestly say that it has changed my life.

The beauty of it is that you can do exactly what works for you, all within the framework of 5:2. Which begs the question, what works for you? If you haven’t already, read the FAQ. Also, read as many of the threads as you can — they are full of helpful experience and support. When you find one you like, join in!

My best advice is to plan your day’s food. Then enjoy the freedom.

Hi. I started the diet on the 4th and am just finishing a fast day: mug of tea for breakfast, nothing for lunch and then salmon, green beans and quinoa salad with another mug of tea at 6pm. Plenty of water both hot and cold inbetween. Still feeling a bit hollow and looking forward to a bowl of porridge in the morning. Had a wonderful moment today. Felt like dancing around the department store. I have dropped a clothing size!!!!! I am going to hold on to that feeling and use it when the going gets tough.

@ Lolly, so pleased to hear this is working for you! I’m not great at planning to be honest. I think that’s my downfall. I’m trying to retrain my brain to start planning a lot more. Going shopping for loads of fruit and low cal foods today. After fasting yesterday I lost a lb which is great and it gives me the boost to keep going 😁
@ hi veggie digger! First of all CONGRATULATIONS!! That’s so exciting! You should of danced around the clothes store lol. That’s awesome. I can’t wait to get that feeling. I’m so inspired by all the stories on here. It really is helping. I’m not sure what to eat today after a successful first day yesterday fasting. I know the book says you can eat what you want after a fasting day but I kinda feel like I don’t want to undo all my hard work! Maybe that’s the idea I guess. Think I’m going for a protein breakfast this morning with eggs, bacon, mushrooms and baked beans. That will fill me up long enough to decide what I’m going to do with the other days before my fasting day again. I think I prefer the fasting days to the normal days! Lol. I’m rubbish at planning. Oh well keep it up! On to losing the next dress size 👍😉
