  • Hello to all of you. I have been lurking and reading your posts for awhile. I decided to hold myself accountable by posting. I’d like to lose 15-20 pounds. While I realize this isn’t a weight loss plan necessarily, I’m primarily trying it out for that purpose.

    Hi Hilmo and welcome 🙂

Hope you enjoy joining in here. There are lots of friendly threads, so lurk no longer!

At my last weigh in I found out I had lost about 20lb. It took me about 6 months. As a bonus, I feel a lot more positive about my general relationship with food. Hope you feel encouraged by that example (although everyone’s rate of loss is different, of course.)

    Cheers

Thanks Bootsy. I’ve had some past weight loss success with Atkins but I eventually stall and become very frustrated with the limited food choices. I like that this method only limits amounts and not whole food groups. I plan to keep track of my caloric intake on my non fast days as well and will aim to stay under my TDEE.

    Hi Hilmo and welcome:

Here is some information that might help as you go forward with 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

If you do the fasting and eat under TDEE the other days I don’t see how you can prevent yourself from losing weight. I just question if tracking calories every day of the week is sustainable – it seems like a lot of effort.

Well, for me it is, anyhow.

I certainly don’t want to track calories daily but I know overeating is what got me here so I want to make sure I’m not canceling out my fast days by overdoing the rest.
