  • Just starting. First fast day going well half way in! Following successful period of dieting over last two and half years (lost more than 1.5 stones and kept most off) have recently drifted and found it a struggle to get back to good discipline. I believe my problem was sheer boredom with the low calorie dieters’ ready meals I had been using for last two years. I am no longer deriving any satisfaction from food and have been eating ‘nice’ things to compensate. I am looking forward to the health benefits of Intermittent Fasting in addition to rekindling a healthy interest in food. I am fairly disciplined so am hoping I can be successful but appreciate I have the enthusiasm of a beginner and may find it gets tough next week!

How did the first day go in the end?

The first 3 weeks are the hardest!

First day went well thanks. Last three hours before dinner were tough but I found my second fasting day easier. Now approaching end of week 1 and feel good but will see what the scales say on Friday!

Fingers crossed for you! I just weighed myself after week 1 and made a loss so I’m really hyped up haha (well, week 1 round 2, did it before but gave up after losing a stone, never put the weight back on in the year I had a break but my target changed so I know it works!)

Have you been eating breakfast, skipping lunch and then having dinner? Because I can definitely agree with you that those few hours before dinner are the hardest if that’s the case 😛 I just look forward to stuffing my face full of spinach and other greens!

    Good luck ! 😀

First day of week 2. Small loss only, which is fine as my aim is to feel as if I am eating normally most days and I have been. Generally, more active than normal, big hill climb, lots of walking, yoga and a vague attempt at HIT but have eaten cake twice (!!) and healthy but substantial meals with 2x500cal fast days. Although I was hoping for 3lbs rather than the 1lb I lost, I know it is preferable to lose slowly so all in all I am happy with my first week. Might attempt to cut back a bit more on non fast days this week though!

You did amazingly not to put weight back on in the year you had off, well done for that. Yes, I am eating breakfast and then dinner at least 12 hours later…a long twelve hours! Hope you continue with your great success.

1lb is great! A loss is a loss – I don’t know whether you’ve seen that picture circling around that shows 1lb of fat, it’s disgusting! But yeah a small loss is better. It needs to be gradual to minimise the chance of putting it on again!

And yeah this week I still counted calories on my non-fast days. Averaged out at about 1700 which is alright I suppose , but I think it’s worth knowing. I struggle to make that 12 hour gap because I don’t get up super early to have breakfast at 7, so I usually end up eating it at 9 and having a 10 hour gap instead.

Keep up the good work! And remember if you’re being more active you’re probably losing fat and gaining muscle so it might be worth investing in a tape measure rather than checking the scales 🙂

Hi Foxysocks, Still going well. Lost another 1lb today, remains slow but happy with that. I am also getting smaller measurements with tape measure. They are minimal but smaller is good. I am really happy with this diet as I feel slight discomfort on the fast days but not as badly as I thought I would. The non fast days are great as I am eating normal things (albeit with slightly more restrain), I am really enjoying my food again and I don’t have to eat differently from the family. On my previous diet regime (which was successful until I reached boredom burn-out)I didn’t ever eat cheese at all. As it is one of my favourite foods I am now enjoying a little cheese and loving it! This regime is so satisfying.

How is it going for you? Is phase two proving as successful as your first stint?
Thanks for your wise words. Here’s to continuing success!
