Haven’t lost weight after the 1st week . Had a 6lb drop that keeps on going up and down . Seems the the 5:2 isn’t working at the moment . Can it be a plataue so soon . Will start a 4:3 fast this week to give it a bit of jolt . Let see what happens

Hi Rari:
The average weight loss for a woman is a little less than a pound a week. You are down six pounds in about 3 weeks. Congratulation on your superior results!
Here is some information that might help you understand what goes on with 5:2. You might read the ‘Really’ post to see how weight loss can proceed. https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/
Good Luck!
Hiya,
Feeling a bit chuffed. This is the end of my second week, so I’ve had four fast days. I’m still doing a bit of trial and error to see what works for me food wise, and last night I forgot I was on a fast day and had a glass of wine and an ice cream.
however on my measure and weigh in this morning I’ve still shed a total of 1 kilo and a whopping combined 27 cm off my body!
I’m liking this!
Its Friday!! I’ve not really fasted as such this week as I’ve had some stomach problems, so I’ve just been keeping it low calorie all week, but probably eating more than 500 on planned fast days. Hopefully I will be able to bring back proper fast days next week.
Its miserable and cold here, its rained all week. Doesnt help with the mood.
Have a good day everyone with what ever your goals are. Keep going and stay strong. I’m hoping that my weigh in on Monday will show a loss, despite missing out my fasts this week. Positive thinking!
Waah, up 1kg and a couple of cm in the measurements, despite a pretty uneventful couple of weeks of fasts and regular eating. Perhaps this is one of those famous plateaus? But does a plateau happen this early? Today is my 9th fast day, so the start of the fifth week, and it’s going fine – no raging hunger or temptation, just a bit bummed about the measurements!
I’m fasting today as well. Usually plan to fast on Tues and Thurs, but a friend switched lunch plans on me from today to Tues, so I’ll fast today and enjoy lunch with my friend tomorrow. The flexibility of the plan makes it so easy to stick to! Love it. Have a great week everyone. (I wasn’t planning to weigh myself until the end of the month but I broke down and got on the scale – down another 2lbs for a total 10 so far. Slow and steady).
Back on a downward trend! However, I have only managed one fast this week as it is packed out with social engagements.. Trying to just keep everything moderate and hope for the best. I’m travelling on Ssturday so will fast then. It’s easier in some ways (airport/airline food is always pretty bad around here) but also harder in others (so much time just waiting around!). Does anyone else here travel a lot? Any hints on how to keep the fasts going on the road?
I’m so excited about this lifestyle/diet! I’m in my third week and have lost weight right on track for a woman, just under a pound a week (for me 3.7 pounds). I find that it’s truly the easiest diet I’ve ever attempted and strangely instead of dreading the fast days, I look forward to them (and believe me, I LOVE food). I find that I sleep better on fast days as well. Oh, and another bonus – I tend to eat less now on NFD because I have less appetite. It’s so great to feel more in control about food, and not freak out if I end up gaining a bit. It’s natural to gain and lose in a week’s time, what with water weight, hormones, etc. Anyway, enough of my happy rant! Good luck to you all!
Sisnu, travelling is tough. Are you traveling alone or with people? Do they know you are a faster? That can make it easier or harder. If you are traveling alone, that’s probably a good fast day. But traveling is no fun, so look for something to treat yourself with like a fancy magazine or use one of those massage/mani/pedi spas they have at airports now. But do remember to drink lots of H2O. It’s easy to get dehydrated when you travel. Safe Travels!
2nd fast day of the week today, feeling much more motivated as the FD on Tuesday went really well – survived on 2 cups of tea and water all day and even went to body pump in the evening!
Hoping today goes well as I’m busy at Uni all day today and have kettlebells class tonight.
Good luck today everyone! ✌️
Hi. Today is my first day – I’ve made it to the afternoon without any trouble but am a bit nervous about the coming evening! I’m so tired of trying to ‘diet’ conventionally and hope that this will work for me. The thought of only really having to worry about what I eat for 2 days in the week sounds really appealing. I live in NZ and plan on Mondays and Wednesdays being my fast days. Are most people losing weight so far??
Hi sher and welcome:
Everyone that does 5:2 properly loses weight. Here is how to do it properly, with answers to many of your questions: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/
Good Luck!
I’m fasting today 🙂 I was happy with my weigh in this morning. Today is the start of week 6 for me, and in the last 5 I’ve lost 7lbs! I’m happy with that, its steady so hopefully I can continue. I’d obviously like to be losing more, but I know that the average for this way of eating is 1lb a week, so I’m quite proud that I’ve stuck with it.
Headaches are still somewhat of a problem for me on fast days, not helped with being at work and it being freezing in the uk (I’m also cold all the time when I’m fasting). The scales are keeping me strong though because I KNOW this works!
Good luck everyone, lets make it a really positive week 🙂
Stay strong!
Congrats Dragon Fly and Mrsgosling87 on your progress. That’s fantastic. I did a fast day yesterday so am eating today. I’m in the USA so it’s Thanksgiving week. There is food everywhere. I plan to do a full fast day on Wed and then for Tues and Friday shrink my eating window. But at least no one hassles you on Black Friday if you don’t want to eat! Everyone’s still recovering from the feast day before. I have to say this is the first turkey day I’ve looked forward to in a long time. I’ve been doing good on my fast days and it’s actually OK to enjoy a holiday meal. That’s why this plan works so great for me. NO food shame. Have a great week everyone!
I’m also fasting today! Well done on your losses Dragonfly ? I always find each time I’ve restarted fasting I have a big loss to start with but then it settles down to a lb a week which is what I’m aiming for too. I’ve also started doing a lot of kettle bells/body pump classes now so I’m expecting my weight loss to slow down and hopefully to build muscle which is why I’m only weighing every 3-4 weeks but measuring myself weekly ?
Happy thanksgiving for Thursday JenBenBo enjoy all the yummy food! ?
Thanks for the support Jen and Mrsgosling 🙂
Happy thanksgiving Jen 🙂 I know there must be a lot of food involved. I’m in the UK, so the main week for me foodwise will be the Christmas week, but I’m feeling ok about it. I know this plan is here to stay, and if I do over indulge I can get right back on it again!
I’m fasting today, looking at it as a detox too, I’m feeling a bit sluggish today, tired and in need of a boost.
Good luck everyone! Stay strong x
Thanks Dragon Fly! It was a good day. I fasted on Tues and Wed so didn’t feel any guilt in enjoying the turkey feast! At least we didn’t have the meal at my house so no left overs to over indulge in. I have holiday events all through the rest of the month so I’ll just have a shortened feeding window on a couple of the days. We’ll see how it goes. I decided to weigh in for the month before the big meal. I’m down 3.5lbs for the month which puts me at 13lbs total so far. One more pound and I’ll have lost a stone which was my goal for this year and I still have December to do it! Slow and steady. In the past I’ve lost fast and put it back on faster. Making this a way of life has made all the difference.
It sounds like it’s a challenging week for fasting for many people! Good luck with the Thanksgiving dinners – Jen it sounds like you’ve managed the planning really well.
Over here the travelling continues, and so does the not-fasting! I’m finding it a bit hard to fast while travelling. It’s ok if I’m on my own, but I’m usually with colleagues, so my willpower wanes really quickly. Just trying to make sensible choices and not go overboard with anything! Up half a kg, but it could be worse..
All the best for the weekend everyone.
How are things going for you Sisnu? Thanksgiving went very well. I enjoyed the holidays with no guilt – for a change – and actually didn’t get stupid with my food intake. I’m fasting today and it’s an easy transition back to what I consider a rest day.
Good Luck GraiceLou. (Freebush?) I really love this way of eating. Hope you find success with it too!
Cheers
Jen
Hi Jen,
I’m in Bangkok this week, so it’s TOUGH! I have managed a “fast” today as I was at a workshop all day, and just had a not very big lunch, which I hope was under 500 cals, and then a couple of water apples this evening.. Heading to bed now and looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!
Back to routine next week!
Hi everyone 🙂 I’ve not been posting much, my days are much the same. I’m fasting today, and looking forward to the detox. I’ve got two weeks left to work before the Christmas break. I know now, that I’m not going to fit into the dress I was aiming for, but never mind, it was a tad ambitious. I’ll get there eventually I hope.
What’s everyones plan for this week. I’ll fast today and Thursday, and may even throw in a third if I feel strong enough. I had wine this weekend, and although I didn’t over do it, I can feel it on my middle!!!
Good luck everyone 🙂
Hello everyone! I’m fasting today, Wednesday and Saturday this week! Tried to fit them around some Christmas parties I’ve got planned. I too won’t be getting into the dress I had planned to wear which was wee bit disappointing BUT 3 of my friends commented that my face was looking slimmer this weekend so that’s cheered me up! Im aiming for water only fasts if I can so fingers crossed ✌️✌
Hope everyone’s doing well! X
