    I am going to be extra good tomorrow, because I have my first full day at work (so don’t want a complete fast) and then I have a wedding to go to on Sunday, so I want to be as lean as I possibly can, with my overweight. Haha.

    My fast day is going SO much better today, I’ve not eaten yet, and I plan to keep going!

    Had to skip this weeks fasts .. But Strangely when I calculate my calories I am not eating above 1300 kcal ?.. I have better self control alhumdulilah .

    Hi everyone I am at the end of my second week but finding it difficult now we are at the weekend. I was eating out yesterday at a fish restaurant. I made good choices and didn’t overeat by any means. I am worried about the Prosecco that went with it though. I had a good 2 days at the beginning of the week and stuck to my fast but weigh day tomorrow and I am not at all sure I will have had a loss this week. I had such a good loss the first week. I know the diet is only supposed to allow you to lose 1 pound a week so fingers crossed.

    Too much Halloween fun last night so did not stay at all close to TDEE. Not sure of the impact on me but was back to TDEE eating today. Wil weigh in Tues. after my fast day.

    I weighed this morning and i weigh more now than this time last week! (It might have something to do with the cake and custard I had last night though)!

    1 cup of tea with milk and splenda and 1 cup of coffee with milk and splenda so far today and feeling good. Also on my second glass of water as well.

    I’m fasting today and tomorrow and then weigh Wednesday morning, fingers crossed.

    This is the start of my second week, I must be careful what I eat on non FD this week see if that makes a difference. (smiley face)

    It’s my fast day today too! I decided not to weigh Sunday after Halloween holiday fun or today. Will weigh at my now designated time on Tuesday mornings after my first fast day of the week. Can let you know all where I am. I am trying to feel ok about Halloween fun as it is part of the normal patterns of life where we will choose to eat of treat ourselves and they key becomes how to balance it with other days so we stay steady.

    Week 1 – Oct 19 – 143 lb
    Week 2 – Oct 27 – 135 lb

    It’s my first fast day today and it’s going ok so far! ? I’ve been fasting on and off for about 3 years and I’ve gone from eating just breakfast, to nothing at all, to now eating my 500cals at tea time. It just really depends on my day as I do a lot of shift work sometimes with no meal breaks! This time around I’ve decided to only weigh myself every 2-3 weeks but focus more on my measurements and how my clothes fit! (Which isn’t too well at the moment ??) so we’ll see how that goes!

    My weight has not gone down this week but it may depend on my obstibation the past week. I am not giving up,nope !! Yesterday,FD, went fine. Next FD on Thursday which I am looking forward to.It’s a sunny day here in S-W Finland.
    Mrsgosling87-your decision of weighing yourself every 2-3 weeks sounds good as well as the focusing on measurements. I think I have to start measuring my weight every second week as well=more results πŸ˜€

    Simplycurious, I’m in Manchester, UK πŸ™‚ Its cold and grim here at the moment, great excuse to hide under baggy clothes!

    My fast day was good yesterday, and no headache! I had a cupasoup at lunchtime at work 90 cals, and then had vegetable broth in the evening. I slept so well too, and woke feeling lighter this morning πŸ™‚ Love that feeling. Its a non fast day today, but I’m not too bothered about eating much at all. Maybe my stomach is shrinking!

    Tuula, keep going .. the weight will come off, and even if it takes its time, the health benefits are amazing.

    Floss, the cake and custard sounds delicious πŸ™‚ Good luck with your fast today, and fingers crossed for Wednesday and the weigh in, I’m sure you will see results!

    I’m fasting today – going to only eat dinner, as I promised my sister to make pizza. Will be hard to stick to 500kcal of pizza, which is why I’m not eating anything else! It’s 9am now and I have had a cup of tea. Really hungry though, looking forward to it going away!

    Hi Everyone, I have been absent for the last 10 days because I was away on holidays. So great to see our little thread has grown so much.

    I was really feeling low after coming home from hols but am feeling back in the swing of things. Starting back to Monday/Thursday fasting.

    I am fasting today, and saving my food for 5pm, which is another 3 hours away. I have now caved and am eating strips of cucumber. Not the worst luckily! So, so hungry, and can’t go for a walk or anything right now!

    FD yesterday, 2nd FD today, 2nd week, I weighed this morning and lost 4lb in one day!! FD today as well so will weigh tomorrow morning and will see if weight has changed. All I’ve had today so far is 1 cup of tea and 1 cup of coffee, I’m feeling a little hungry now so I’m going to have another coffee, that should take me through until 5pm, another coffee then tea about 6-7pm I think.

    I am amazed I don’t feel ravenous! (smiley face)

    I am fasting today after skipping a week fasts but wasn’t going over my tdee … I gained a pound … I am back now but so scared to see how it. Goes . Since I have to make up my missed fasts due to religious reasons … This weight loss with the caloric guide lines is an added bonus for me ?.. This will be the only eating plan that is working for me as I have tried every other plan out there and have failed to maintain . Looking forward to a wonderful weight loss journey with every one ?

    Ok after 2 different nights of overt TDEE and indulgence
    I weighted in today and stayed start at 1351b. Starting week 3. Didn’t go up which is great and still 8 lb down from start. Another 8 to go. Did eat 850 on my fast day yesterday. Made mistake of donating blood and was too dizzy but am ok with that πŸ™‚

    Hopefully by January ? Give myself time through the holidays !!

    I had a non-fast day yesterday, but didnt over do it at all, which is good. I walked quite a bit, which I think is helping. Hope everyone’s doing okay, and seeing the results they want. I think work is going to be busy today, which will keep me occupied, although its another normal day today. Fasting tomorrow, and looking forward to it πŸ™‚

    I will fast tomorrow though the weather would have suited me better yesterday (+14C -highest in Nov.ever measured temp.) I will fast tomorrow as planned. I have a good feeling today. πŸ™‚ By the way you seem to count TDEE which I don’t do because I eat low carb and use butter/olive oil if needed in food preparing.I don’t think I overeat though because when I counted my eatings earlier so TDEE was not high but ofcourse higher than eating more carbs and less fat BUT I think this is the way many LCHF-people do in Scandinavia nowadays especially when they want to get over the plateau or just get even better health markers.

    P.S. I eat low carb because the carbs make bloodsugar get higher =insuline resistance is the word in my case( type D2 -without any medication)

    2nd fast day today, had such a manic 12 hour shift that I didn’t get chance to eat and by the time I’ve gotten home I didn’t feel much like eating so late.

    Second fast day of the week for me, although I’m not sure how its going to go. I’ll try, but I’m feeling a bit rubbish. My other half has been really ill with a chest infection, and he has very kindly passed it on to me, nice of him πŸ˜›

    Anyway, I’m going to give it my best shot. I do enjoy my fast days, its like the pressure to eat is off, and I feel calmer as a whole. I’ll probably have soup when I get home from work this evening.

    Second fast day of the week yesterday was much easier and managed better than Monday. With all the exercise I have decided to settle on 600 calories on my FD days. I seem to manage better.

    On my Non FD day Tuesday I stayed within my TDEE but all I wanted was frozen chocolate yogurt and chocolate so I let myself eat it. I know that’s the point normal food. But it only felt like I was overheating.! Will have to get permission to eat normally.

    I do track using my FitnessPal for now. Seems to help me.

    I think my weight is staying steady and not loosing anymore. Fri and Sat will be a little challenging in the evening.

    hello everyone , i have followed 16 hours fasting and eating in 8 hour window for about a month or so. i feel that whenever the eating period starts my appetite has increased voraciously and simply glutton down food without even enjoying the taste. i even went into a 24 hour fast couple of times. Can some one tell me how 5:2 works differently and how to control your appetite when you are eating? .

    Nov.6th -71.9kg

    Friday at last. Fast day was a bit rough yesterday, I did it, but I struggled. I’d brought some new cupa soups with me as they fill me up over the lunch time, and are only 90 cals, but I’d brought ones I’d never tried before, and it tasted horrendous, so … I was so hungry all day, water was helping but it was hard πŸ™ I had a light dinner of a small baked potato with tuna, but I was probably slightly over my 500? I’m not sure. Anyway, normal day today.

    Hope everyone has a positive weekend. I need to, as its weigh in on Monday again, and I really want to see a loss. Only 1lb last Monday, but I’d like to push to 2lb this week. Not putting too much pressure on myself though. Slow and steady … tiny steps.

    Going slow because most of it was lost in the 1st week but alhumdulilah.. I thank God every day I found something that works . I was feeling pretty ashamed putts my no s on but I like seeing the down ward trend.

    Im fasting today, and on Thursday. A little disappointed this morning with my weigh in, as I was 1lb up πŸ™ I don’t think I over did it too much over the weekend, it could be a number of things. I suppose I just have to get over it and carry on. Water to keep me going, and a cupa soup at lunch. I will probably have vegetable soup later this evening as well.

    My first fasting day this week, well needed after Father’s Day yesterday !! I’ll again have vegetablesoup, an egg and a cup of coffee with 2 tablespoonful of cream in it. So far I have had only water to drink. I feel a slight headache.That’s probably because of all the goodies I ate yesterday.I didn’t make the traditional cake for the day but a delicious apple pie + vanilla sauce+biscuits(2 sorts) and something ‘small’ to have with the coffee. I ate the normal LCHF lunch with the family though. My weighing day will be on Friday after FD on Thursday.Let’s see how bad this weekend turned the figures,hopefully not too bad. πŸ˜€

    Hi! I am fisrt day of fast today! I’ve decided to skip breakfast as I’m not really hungry in the mornings anyway and I am kept busy at school so hopefully I won’t think about it too much! It’s so great to read all your posts,it makes you feel like part of a community! I live in Spain and haven’t found anyone who knows about this diet and I think this group will definitely help me keep on track!
    It’s only 11am but so far feeling good.

    I change in my fasting days. Unexpected but loved friends got over for a longer 2 days’visit.I’ll change my fasting days.And at least have them next week as planned.

    Well my fast day turned into a disaster, fasted all day as didn’t get a break at work but then ruined it all by having a take away with friends when I got home ?

    I’ve been following this thread but this is the first time posting. Ya’ll are fantastic. After coming across IF and the 5:2 Diet researching IF on the internet, I started 4:3 at the end of September and lost 8lbs in my first month. I have decided to weigh only once a month (as constant weighing and the normal fluctuations in my weight have sent me on a spiral for too many diets in the past.) This is a β€œweigh” of eating now for my life. Speed is not important. On fast days I don’t eat. Just coffee, tea and water. If I get into a situation at work where it’s expected I’ll eat something, I’ll have a bite or two and don’t worry about it as I’m well under the 500 calorie mark. Only a few people know I do IF now. It’s easier then explaining to the sceptics. I did get terrible headaches at first, but they passed after a couple weeks. If I start to feel β€˜hunger’ pangs, I just remind myself that a normal weight human can safely water fast for 40 days, so I can manage one day. On my feed days, I don’t count calories and I don’t worry about it as I’ve accepted this a WOE that is also for health as I want to get the benefits of autophagy – hence the no eating on fast days. I fast on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the week and then pick either Saturday or Sunday to fast on the weekends. Eating on two weekend days is too much food for me at this point. Good luck everyone! I’ll let you know how it’s going when I weigh-in at the end of the month.

    Welcome Jen. Yours is a very similar story and outlook to mine. Like you, I appreciate that a slightly empty feeling is nothing like real hunger. Once you accept that it’s easy. I probably started a week after you and do ADF (water) instead of 4:3.
    I haven’t weighed or measured at all as I can SEE the fast disappearing.

    I thought I’d join your thread as it seems fairly active, and most people on it seem to be still newish to 5:2! I started on 19 October, and am looking to lose about 13kg (from 91 to 78 which will bring me into a normal BMI range – I am a 177cm tall woman). From when I started, I think I have lost about 3kg which I’m very happy with (it fluctuates a bit from day to day). I fast on Mondays and Wednesdays usually, although if I’m travelling, (which I do a bit for work), i have been fasting on the travel days as airport/airline food is pretty dire! So far so good – it is still early days and motivation is strong! I’m hoping that engaging on the forums will help keep the motivation strong as time goes by!

    I agree Sisnu. I’ve found this a great thread. The very concept of 5:2 is extremely comforting to me. It’s changed my relationship with food. Food isn’t bad. There’s no restriction – at least in my mind. I can eat! Sweets and treats are not crimes. And a couple days a week, I let my body rest and focus on detox. And then tomorrow it’s OK to eat. Eating has been associated with such negative feelings most of my life, it’s just a relief to look at food differently.

    my fast days this week have been a complete fail ? work has been crazy busy and I’ve been rather weak willed around all the goodies in the staff room.
    New plan of action is to start afresh on Saturday, Tuesday & Thursday!

    Mrsgosling87, I’m a Sat (sometimes Sun) Tues, Thurs faster as well. So today is the last fast for the week. I have a big hot cup of joe and am focusing on what I consider a day of rest. If I start wishing for food I just plan something delicious for tomorrow. For fast days, I have some special teas such as pumpkin spices, or honeybush that smell wonderful. They are only for fast days in the evenings, so there is something to look forward to at the end of the fast day.

    Bryn123, I always like to hear success stories too but I’m staying off the scale and only weighing once a month. First month was 8 lbs down. My relationship with food and the scale is very bad and I’m trying to do a complete mental sift. But my largest pair of pants are too loose to wear anymore so I’m taking that as a positive sign of progress.
