  • Ok i Forgot to post my weight first week loss Start weight 26 june 131 KG 20st 6lb from 3rd July 129KG 20s.4 lb 2 pound loss 10th july 124 KG 19s 8lb 10 pounds loss.

    Total 12 pounds i will weigh my self every wednesday if other people are doing the same let me know i hope it helps people to keep focused and positive and remind my self that every time i feel hungery that this is me lossing weight and that is a good feeling, I hope to hear other peoples weight loss and progress

    feel a little low, but know that i feel thiner this week so staying positive could be water retention or somthing like that i hope, but sill in total loss so progress is being made still a total loss of 8 pounds other people have said about the follies of weekly weight checks and it is not just about weight loss i know but i would be nice if i got that to !!!

    I weigh in on Wednesdays too. 700g off this week. Down to 63.5k. Chuffed to bits!

    Hello JGJenks! Probably water retention – I’ve noticed that as well some days. But 8 pounds over the long haul is definite progress!!! Just starting out on the diet, but I’ve been loosing weight all along just from normal diet and more exercise (hopefully gaining muscle mass over the past few months too); I’m down to 160 pounds/73 Kg, a loss of 5 pounds/2Kg since Monday. Probably the 52 Km bike ride today helped, though in this heat, I’m sure some of that is water loss. But the body’s switch to repair-mode and burning off the brown fat has me convinced this is the diet to be on, hopefully I’ll have the self-discipline it takes over the long haul. Best of success to you, and to Chrissie and to Carla! (BTW, I was well over 200 pounds / 90 Kg+ last year, and I’m feeling great now; it’s well worth the effort!)

    Since starting, a few weeks ago I have lost 3.8 kilos and delighted. I actually find it enjoyable, and my fast days are never a chore, although NOT having breakfast I find is the key….

    I was wondering, do you weigh yourself after a fast day or after a normal day???

    I fast on a Monday and Thursday and weigh myself first thing Saturday.I used to find that my body screeched to a halt on fast days and it took a couple of days to get moving again and reflect what my true weight was.

    Thankyou, I also do mondays and Thursdays, but if you wait until saturday to weigh, do you find your very carefull about what you eat on the friday??

    Hi, Emlo6 – Your weight is your weight – I don’t think there’s any point in trying to ‘fix’ the weigh-in to get a more favourable reading on the scales. Everybody’s weight fluctuates by a few pounds quite naturally from day to day – if not hour to hour – due to a variety of temporary factors, so perhaps it’s just sensible to weigh yourself a maximum of once a week, on the same day and at about the same time each week. That way, the variable factors iron themselves out and you can get a good, overall trend.
    Many people recommend using a tape measure on various body parts (e.g. waist, chest/bust, hips, upper arm, thigh, neck, etc) instead of or as well as scales, because they’ve found that one’s shape can change to the good even when the scales don’t move. All best wishes for achieving the results you’re aiming at.

    No I am not very careful on the other days. Sometimes the scales don’t seem to move very much/or at all on a Saturday, but I also do body measurements at the same time and will see that if the scales haven’t shifted, some of my fat has!

    Are you all really weighing in once a week? At this point I weigh in every morning before eating or drinking anything,
    as I’m trying to see how much or little I need to eat on the non-fast (feast) days. I would really like to lose another 10 lbs. and have heard this is where weight loss slows to a snails pace, at least for some of us. I previously lost 25 lbs. (on the HCG diet). This time I really would like to stabilize and not regain weight and repeat the same old cycle.
    On my 2 weeks of 5:2 fasting I’ve maintained (141 lbs,), losing around 1 3/4 lb after the fast day, then regaining on the “feast” days. I am pigging out a bit after the fast day, maybe that will taper off.

    Weight can fluctuate so much even in one day. I weigh myself once a week, first thing Saturday morning and measure body parts at the same time.
    Check out what your body needs in terms of calories with the TDEE calculator on this page and see if you can increase your exercise.It doesn’t have to be scary and walking is very good.
    I have no idea where this notion of feast comes from. The idea is to be eating normally on non-fast days. I am always more hungry the day after a fast in the morning, but find that a handful of brazil nuts really help me keep going until lunch.

    I weigh in on Fridays. My first goal as was to under 220 lbs. before I left for my vacation. Weighed in today at 219.4. Total weight loss = 25.8 lbs. since 4/1. Hopefully I don’t gain too much on holiday!

    Hi, I have just joined and just started on the diet yesterday. I am 65, male, and fat! My starting weight 16 st dead. Target weight 12 st and I aim to do that over 52 weeks.

    I weigh myself once a week on a Monday – have done for years and take my blood pressure on a Tuesday. (Average ~ 148/88)

    I guess I am posting so that I can be scolded and to give me an incentive!

    Oh my fast days are Thursday and Friday so weighing is into the middle of the normal days.

    Like Annette and David I weigh and measure once a week on Saturdays. Tomorrow is my next weigh-in. I should think that daily weights would be very discouraging.

    Have noticed an odd side-effect of this Fast Diet, though. Yesterday was a non-fast day for me. Was invited to a steak dinner out with a group of friends. Only months ago I would have happily eaten the steak…with a baked potato loaded with butter and sour cream…a salad with dressing..Texas Toast…a Coke and then a piece of pecan pie for afters. Maybe with ice cream.

    Last night (by choice) I enjoyed the steak with sauteed onions and peppers…salad with lemon juice…and the toast…with sweet tea…but had no craving for a potato or pie. Was talked into getting a small cup of ice cream and ate 3 teaspoons (came with the meal) and felt…over-stuffed…like it was entirely too much food, anymore. Went to bed looking forward to today’s Fast.

    Realized it was the most food I had put in my body in a few weeks…and did not enjoy the sensation of being too full.

    The Diet seems to be modifying my eating habits πŸ™‚ Shrinking my stomach or what have you.

    Me too Carla.Today I went swimming and 30 lengths later met a friend for coffee and cake. I enjoyed what I now see as a rather large almond croissant mid morning, lunch was salad because that’s what I wanted.

    I am certainly much more aware of what I am eating and I think that’s a good thing. I do not want to get fat again!

    I adore roast potatoes and had noticed that I am giving myself both smaller potatoes and less of them. I just don’t like that over-full feeling over my tummy afterwards.

    The genius of this way of eating is that as nothing is forbidden,I don’t crave something and then feel guilty. If I want chocolate, then I have it. But i want it less and less and find I am choosing smaller amounts.

    Monday has arrived! Weighing day. Lost 3 lbs this week (first week). That represents ~7500 calories of fat. Only 244,965 calories of fat to burn! LOL

    Q. Do the fast days have to be non-consecutive?

    A. The short answer is that it doesn’t matter. Some people prefer doing two days back to back, others prefer to split ie Mondays and Thursdays

    I personally decided – for no particular or good reason – to go for two days on the trot.

    No that should be 10,500. (~3,500 callorie in one lb)

    Hello all. Started back on the fast diet today – fasting and gym. I read so many posts on here last night that really helped me get back on track – reminded me of the health benefits too. Thanks and here’s to a successful journey for us all πŸ™‚

    I am not posting my weight today as not at work (were the scales are) but will post tommorw thank you to all the posters here and the support in answer to the question when do i weight my self i do it on my second fast day my routine is now monday 1000-1500cal max tue 600 wed 600 rest of week normal 2000cal may be more dont count on off days but i recon it must be under the 2000 as i eat 200 cal breakfast and just main meal that my amazing wife makes ,lucky me, I do cook too just so you know !

    and i do two days together plus one low cal day as you can see

    Keep going every one i feel so much better now on week four less hungery and go porridge it is the best brekfast for me, as you can see from my ealier posts i am no light weight starting at 20st 6 lbs and i am finding i ok hard some day but that is about bad choices of food in morning now its sorted with porridge will try other things in morning soon but just glad not to be mega hungery

    Glad it going in the right direction and i am not brave enough to measure my self yet but i will try to do this as i do look a little slimmer i will post a picture of my self i think and then take picture once a month to see how it looks this sound easyier than measuring

    Thank to all for the support and lets all keep going it is starting to feel easier for me now and my food thought process are changeing but i find this totaly weird for me and never thought that this would change for me but it is like it is in the book large amouts of food do seam to much for me now, and i used to love the thuoght of totaling piging out and have seconds, thirds it was like i had to finish every thing i am now having to ajust my portion size to save on waste, I went to a barbque and only had a burger and sausage and salad!!!!!!!!!! This is totaly odd and felt like i could not eat more strange times !!

    Just so you know it is anoying to repost again and again if there is another way please let me know but i find it good for me and i hope it gives other people hope and motivation to keep going with the life style change / diet

    for the first time today i felt that i could see the weight loss my self and felt thinner this is very good for me and is improving my body image

    and even my wife said somthing possitive about how i look she said i did not look like king luie from the jungle book so much now this is high praise from her

    she likes to keep me grounded and i love her for it

    My first week back fasting on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Last week was a bit of a write-off as husband was home on holiday so let things relax a little! Tuesday weighed in before fasting and was 10st 1lb.

    My usual weigh day is Fridays and last Friday weight 9st 11 3/4lb, so just shows what a weekend of overeating and drinking can do and my weight went up to account for it!

    So weigh in today – Friday 9th August – 9st 10 1/2lb!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Oops, got weight wrong for last week, should have been 9 stone 13 1/4lb, so Friday to Friday have lost 2 3/4lb!

    First official weigh in on this diet. I weighed in at 13st 1.5lbs last Sunday morning I fasted Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday. I totally overindulged on Monday but the other non fast days were ok. Went out to dinner on Thursday and had a good few beers. So that’s why I added an extra fast day. Today I weighed in at 12st 12.5lbs so a 3 lbs loss. Very happy with that and I hope I can lose some more next week.

    I never ever thought I’d broadcast my weight but here goes. According to my scales (and it’s damned difficult to see them) I weigh 127kg. Think I’m going to go out and buy some better ones today. Hello everyone πŸ™‚

    Hi All Hope the weight loss /life style change on the 5:2 is going well. Not had a chance to weight my self today will do it when i get back to office later so will do another post then with my weight but i am feeling ligher today so whatever the scales say i am ok with

    But I brought a cross trainer my wife say’s it will be a expensive clothes hanger, and it is not allowed in the house so i tricking my self by having a affair with the cross trainer i only hope it does not end badly like most affirs, but we will see i used it last night for 30min going to build up slowly I hope to do 30min a night this week and build up by five mins a week or so see how the legs take it but I Am exersising !! so what next Who knows

    Well the diet is going well no cheats i think, keeping to it and it has become second nature i still have good days with little hunger and difficult days were i am hungery but water helps to get me through and keeping to below 2500 cal on other days well below on most about 1500-2000 cal i think, but i know it is less because my fridge has left overs in it which saves me money for lunch the next day

    Well Keep going i am starting to beleave that my life could be diffrent and this is very positive! i can accept that i have a long way to go, and for the first time in my life that feels ok, no rush just let it happen just so you know i have eight stone somthing to lose , I know people who weight eight stone !!

    2 weeks in and 6lb weight loss very happy. I had previously lost 30lb but could not shift the last 14lb but thanks to this new diet the weight is just falling off, I cant believe it the scales haven’t moved for months, but I am now confident I will reach my goal and feel more alert. Now weigh 10st 13lb

    JGJenks: Don’t stop posting. I’m fairly new and your updates are so inspiring! I only started on Thursday (first fast day). My next fast day is Monday and Tuesday is my weigh day (because that’s been my weigh day on WW and so I don’t want to change it. I will post in here on Tuesday after I’ve weighed. I lost 7kg on WW, but then got bored because watching everything that goes in your mouth every single day is so hard.

    I found my first fast day pretty easy, and didn’t overindulge yesterday (I thought I would inhale everything I saw, but I just ate fairly normally). I”m hoping to see something nice on the scales on Tuesday.

    i am now exersizeing 30 mins a day on a cross trainer as well to help

    i have terrible indigestion over the last three days dont know why ony thing i can think it is is that my stomach has shrunk and is pushing acid up any ideads out there i have never acid indigstion before and it is bad

    Hope every one is good today just coming of my fast days today but had a bad arguement last night but we worked it out my wife thought is was because I was hungery and told me to go eat something and to cut a long story short were I am the victim and clearly not to blame it was my falt but I was not hungery just stupid but why post this well after being cross in the past I would of eaten for comfort if I was depressed I would of eaten if I had a good day I would of eaten I did not eat after the dispute this I did not think about until this morning well I need to buy flowers to day and say sorry to my wife today well keep going every one stay positive and it works so do it

    Arguments are awful aren’t they. Well done on your self control food wise. As for the flowers, forget them … give your lovely wife a long cuddle and tell her how important she is to you.

    Going on holiday tommrow what to do oh I got my 5 2 stuff for the week packed but I am exerciseing every day should I go running instead I hate running as it hurt as I am so heavy or a Todd speed walk or just enjoy my Holliday

    Just so you know followed the advise big cuddles and good chat and of course I told her how important she is but don’t like to do this after arguements as it could feel like a lie and when I tell her how I feel and how she effects me every day god I’m lucky I want it to be real

    Well keep rocking on with the diet and try to enjoy it I know I slowly getting to that place I hope to stay there forever well take care every one and good luck
