Day 12 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD 16:8
Finding it hard to post in the morning these days. Interesting conversations about non negotiable FD’s twice a week…that’s what worked for me too in the beginning.
So tomorrow will be my first FD of the week and posting it now in case I don’t have time tomorrow.
It’s in my own interests to lose weight and get healthier too…my recent trip to the ED was cardio related, and thankfully I was not having an acute problem, but I have to get a CT in a few weeks to see if there is something going on. Heart problems run in the family, so I really want this to be ok. I do daily cardio exercise and walking but the weight did come on with menopause.
In the last 6 weeks I have found 16:8 Mon to Fri and
Two FDs have slowly helped
I used to be a racehorse on the 5:2, now I am a tortoise, but on I will go. 😍
Day 12….Uk…..FD
It was a breeze today, not sure if I’m just getting used to it or if my carb/sugar avoidance has helped but I didn’t think about eating or feel the need at all today. It’s “bedtime” now so past eating and looking forward to sleep followed by breakfast tomorrow 🍳🥓. I also have been pretty much choosing the same two days in the week, these are days that fit best with my family and plans we usually have etc. I do think a routine like this helps like many of you have said.
@at I know Suffolk well, which part are you visiting? Have a lovely time, the weather is supposed to be good this week
@daffodil2010 the tortoise approach is for sure the best one long term.
I found my copy of “The Fast Diet” this week a nd then checked my Amazon history, I ordered it in 2015 – unbelievable that was 10 years ago!!
Have a good evening all 😊
Day 12 NE England NFD.
Hello all,
I’m back from my travels, we had a really lovely break, so lucky to get so much sunshine. However I have not been mindful at all and the scale gave a groan this morning. I have closed the kitchen after dinner this evening and will not eat again until tomorrow afternoon. I need to get serious again and remember how this feels when we go away again in a few months time!
I will try and catch up with all I’ve missed tomorrow, off to bed now ready for a day of babysitting.
Day 13 country west Australia CD 82.7 kgs
Really good and easier FD yesterday.
@ccco It looks like yesterday was a good FD for several on here.😬
I think @funshipfreddie‘s chat about non-negotiable FDs might have been just the reminder we needed.
It worked for me!!😁
I had a 504 calorie FD courtesy of MFP. I am not a fan of plugging numbers but it helped back in 2016/17 so am resorting to it again for accountability for a short while.
For example on Sunday I actually weighed a very thin slice of cheddar cheese ( don’t recall EVER weighing food before but I was curious as to my guesstimating ability).
Turns out what I thought looked like about 10 gms was actually 25 grams.😱😱
No wonder I am 11.2 kgs ( 22.64 lbs or 1.76 stone heavier than exactly 8 years ago on this thread !!)😲
@anicecupoftea, yes the time goes by so quickly.
Seems like many of us are going back to basics.
@stichincarol, I did a nutrition course for health and healing some years ago.
The complementarity of certain foods can’t be overstated though often we are ignorant of the different foods which work together and those which work against each other. It is fascinating stuff.
Most westerners have a highly inflammatory diet which is contributing to our weight and health issues.
Intrigued to hear you were a vegetarian for some years. Can I ask what changed in 1985? Very curious to know but only if you would care to share. 😊
@northgeorgia, conferences and seminars can be saboteurs to good and restrained eating.
Holding a drink in one hand and a plate ( with just one thing on it )in the other can be a strategy for buffets. Standing away from where the food is and talking with people is another.
And just saying ‘no’ to the food circulating can be difficult in the short term but worthwhile longer term
‘A minute in the mouth, an hour in the stomach and a lifetime on the hips !!’
@daffodil2010, sorry to hear about your cardiac problems and glad it wasn’t acute.
I had to have a calcium score test done recently. Thankfully calcium score is zero and arteries are looking ‘ good for your age’!!
But the doc did advise : More exercise, Mediterranean diet, lose weight – about 12 kgs !! 😲
Resolving to do 2 Non negotiable FDs a week from now on. Motivated Motivated Mindful May 😇
@iona72 glad to have you back safely from your travels and great that you had such a lovely time.
Together we are stronger.
Day 12…….Florida……NFD
I had a great Mothers Day.i was blessed to have all the kids here. They stayed very late, so
I didn’t get a chance to get on.
Today was a pretty gloomy day, it rained and no sunshine. We needed the rain but made for a long hard day as no one wanted to do anything.
It started out as an FD but I messed up and miscalculated my calories and ended up being a controlled day rather than an FD. I think my miscalculations came because I tried to raise my protein intake. Oh well….. there is always tomorrow to try again.
I am pretty happy with my fasting time, staying right around 16-18 hour fasts before I eat. So that’s something.
Not sure what tomorrow will bring maybe another controlled day as I already have Wed. earmarked for a FD.
I’m a bit behind reading everyone post, but I’ll catch up
Day 13 – UK – FD800
Yesterday’s FD800 came in just over 600cals so a success – aiming for another today 🤞
Had a good session with the physio yesterday – recurrent sciatica – assessment followed by pressure point massage and ultrasound therapy – continue with the stretching I have been doing……
Another scorcher of a day – out walking with friends this morning – lots of sunscreen and sun hat is in order
@daffodil2010 – I do hope that all turns out well with your cardiac investigations – like you I too “used to be a racehorse on the 5:2, now I am a tortoise, but on I will go”
@anicecupoftea – I lived in Bury St Edmunds for many years before retiring and moving to the Lake District in 2013 – still keep in touch with many friends there and hoping to catch up with a few during this visit
@northgeorgia – some good advice on how to say NO/AVOID overeating food at events – the first step in restraint is often the hardest but it does become easier
@lilymartin – I’m in the same boat – I started with WOL at 75kg in January 2014 – dropped to around 54kg by January 2017 which was perhaps a bit too low for me – I even dropped further to 52kg and stayed around that until I eventually stabilised around 58kg in February 2021 – this is where I felt my best and was regularly doing my 2x FD and monitoring my NFD but then gradually over the next 4 years I wasn’t following this WOL strictly and slowly the weight crept up to 60kg and now find myself at 65kg……….😱
Right I must go put my walking shoes on and get out the door to meet the gang for our walk before it gets too hot 🥵

Day 13 NZ NFD 69.5kg 🌋🏃🏼♀️
After an atrocious weekend I am back down but am going to out a restaurant for a friend’s birthday shortly… I looked up the menu and there is nothing of any great interest on it so I’m not enthused…
I spent most of y’day at a funeral. One of my best friend’s brothers was killed in a car accident close by to where I live. It’s a complete tragedy as he is a lawyer and heads up his small family. He has a 7 yo daughter whom he doted on and is married to a Mayan woman he fell in love with in Mexico City. She had the most beautiful black wavy hair that reached her waist. After the last service, – there was a Catholic Mass then a church service without eulogies then a secular service with eulogies – she cut her plaits off and laid them on the coffin. With this action she made the transition from a gorgeous young woman to a somewhat ordinary widow…
The driver of the stolen car did a runner and despite having his DNA, the police are yet to apprehend him…
All the best everyone…
Day 13 – USA/GA – FD
Weigh-in: 240 lbs. With just one FD this week, I doubt if I’ll make great progress. However, the gains have been minimal so far, so things are not too terrible.

I’m up a pound from yesterday, but ate excellently yesterday. The logic of what the scales report is not always clear to me, LOL!
It’s great to see so many of you back on here; we missed you!
@at So unfortunate that you’re having such pains again; I hope your stretching, and the treatment you had, are effective in eliminating the pain.
@merryapple What a sad story about the man who died. What’s the logic behind the widow cutting off her hair; do you know the story behind doing so? I remember when I lopped off my butt-length hair (I was 41) and it was HARD, so for her to do so as part of her grief will add to the grief, I’m sure.
@lilymartin The man I was dating abruptly ended our relationship, and he was the true vegetarian, but I cooked for us so often that I learned a lot of details about complementary proteins. 🤷🏻♀️
DH and I are both exhausted. I look forward to getting this move accomplished! I thought of @missybear yesterday; I just looked it up and she last posted on January 6 right after they sold their house and had to be out by/in April, so that’s likely a large part of what’s been keeping her away. The one nice thing about all this moving effort that’s exhausting me so is that, having resolved several months ago that, like @at, I would be very serious about exercising/walking and losing weight after we retire, I will already be much stronger and conditioned for the long walks I’m planning around our new neighborhood!
Okay, time to make coffee and get this day officially going! Have a grand one, everyone!

While yesterday certainly was a legitimate FD, I must admit that it went so well because I did so much work in my garden preparing for Spring and Summer that I had no time to eat until I was done and then I was just too tired. LOL
Today it is raining, so, unfortunately, that leaves me alone with my kitchen! I will need to be careful. I will be having lunch with my son. He is always so busy, so we we will be enjoying a pizza at my house. I will finally be able to show him all my renovations. I will try to stay with just one slice. I haven’t had pizza in a very long time.
Brightenbelle, glad you enjoyed your trip.
AT, my husband had sciata, so I can commiserate with you.
Merryapple, so sorry about your friend.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
Day 13……UK…..NFD
Hi all, lovely day today, having another good NFD, I have banished all “bad” food from the cupboards so I can’t cave. Sticking with the lower carb to stop me overeating. so far, so good this week. Scale is lower as it was FD yesterday but I know that will go up a bit – nice to see it though….
@at I know BSE well, love the Abbey gardens and the shops, so much variety compared to most town centres. Enjoy, hope you get a cup of tea at Harriets 🙂
@merryapple I’m so sorry to hear about your best friend’s brother, that’s really tragic, I hope you’re ok?
Have a good one all…..
Day 14 NZ NFD 🦮 69.5kg
I had fish served on top of duck fat roast potatoes and broccolini. Go figure that menu…??? No dessert but (plug your ears, David!!) a Dark and Stormy cocktail, a milk stout beer and a glass of claret.
I made Finnish sourdough Rye bread y’day so had a thin slice with honey this morning after porridge, a wee tsp of brown sugar and milk/cream. I’m off shortly to take Paisley the Scottie for a walk.
Thank you for your kind thoughts…
@stitchincarol I remember loosing more than 10kg when I moved into this house because I repainted the complete interior, pulled up the carpets and cleaned down and oiled all the beautiful Matai floorboards, cleared out the nonexistent garden and replanted it… I’m exhausted thinking about it so I feel for you!!!
I looked up mourning haircutting and came up with Native American traditions. It seems to be associated with letting out energy, identifying with loss and being identified as grieving but as you would imagine there are variations in traditions. Some said you couldn’t recut your hair for one year.
With ancient Polynesian practices, this is the period when the body is taboo because it is inherently dangerous as it decomposes. It was secured in burial caves and after one year the cleaned bones were formally buried in a memorial service. These practices have been rejigged for the modern world and the contemporary memorial service has become an “unveiling“ of the headstone.
@at I’m sorry to hear your hip is troubling you again. Is it a muscular or a worn out hip joint?
@anicecupoftea It’s great you’re getting a routine going that is working for you.💪
@bert1802 Good on you for upping your protein intake!! You need those muscles with your busy life!!
Welcome back @brightonbelle!! Lovely to have a holiday!! We’re all still here plugging along!!
@ccco How fun cooking in your refreshed kitchen!! Speaking of Pizza I wonder where @penz is. Her 🍕🍷Friday is coming up!!
@lilymartin I chuckled at your under estimating your cheese size!! I’m sure I’m eating and drinking way more calories than I think I am!! I looked up milk (in tea/coffee on FDs) after you mentioned it and realised every cup has 50-60 cals of milk in it… Then I looked up @ccco’s DASH diet and I could tick almost everything on the good side except DAIRY!! I drink full fat milk because the low fat milk is still full of calories as it has way more lactose (milk sugar) in it…
@iona72 That babysitting will get your ‘steps’ up!! I hope you had a great trip!!
@daffodil2010 I hope your CT results are 10/10!! Your motorcycle leathers are such a great way to gauge your success 🤣
Have a good day everyone!!
Day 13…..Florida……FD
So proud of myself, had a very successful FD, not much luck getting in more protein but it’s a work in progress.
Thank you for the kind words about my flop of the day. Those words keep me moving forward and not throwing in the towel……
The protein thing, I’m still working on. I figured as long as I am actively working on it, I’m making progress.
It’s kind of like when I was forced to give up things with gluten in it. I just actively worked on it until it stuck.
I was suffering from a long term stomach ache, after many tests including a prick testing. I showed no reason for the constant ache. So, the dr. Came up with the idea of testing food out. So, at first we gave up dairy and gluten the two possible main culprit. ( I used to get a lot of my protein from dairy) when I added them back, we found dairy give me the thinnest ache, gluten a medium size ache but together a huge ache.
So thus, I know longer eat any of them.
Why am I telling you this…. For those who suggested dairy as a protein and those who are actively trying to reduce carbs.
It was only the first couple weeks where I missed bread and pasta and such. Now, the only time it bothers me is trying to find something with out dairy and gluten in it.
It gets better promise!
For those who suggest products such as almond milk or flour. I am hospital stay allergic to almonds and almond by products.
I mention hospital stay allergic because I have had people say to me it just has a little almond in it, it won’t hurt you or try eating it in small amounts so you become immune to it. Even a little bit sends me to the hospital.
Okay, I’ve rambled enough for one day…..
Tomorrow, it a NFD and I’m gonna have Chicken wings!
Day 14 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
@at – good to see you back! I hope you find the mojo you need to get back to 5:2. But you’re so active, & I’m sure you’ll shift those unwanted kilos in no time with your FDs too 🎯
@merryapple – 956 days 🚫 🍷 just saying. I’m not sure which I’m more proud of – that, or my 52 day Wordle streak! 😅
@lilymartin – it is a shock when you start to weigh food to work out the calories! I wouldn’t be without my kitchen scales. Although, I can now look at a piece of cheese & guess its weight within a gram.
@bert1802 – congrats for the successful FD! 💪 We hear so much about peanut allergies, it never occurred to me that people could be allergic to other nuts too, duh?
A new study suggesting intermittent low-carb-ing could be as effective as IF…

Another scorcher of a day ahead – off to morning yoga soon and feeling positive 😊
Came in just under 800 yesterday for my 2nd FD and aiming for a 3rd one today as there will be no fasting until Tuesday next week……..
Thank you all for your positiveness re my sciatica – it is slowly getting better – I just need to persevere and to try avoid the trigger exercises…..on a good note I can do long low level walks without any pain – no high levels hiking for now though
@merryapple – such a sad story about your best friend’s brother 🤗
@northgeorgia – some advice given with the best intention – should you do a proper review of what you are actually eating/drinking?? so many hidden calories……sometimes I have found that doing a target week of close monitoring can set me up on that downward trend that we are looking for – as it can actually clarify what we should perhaps curtail or even cut out of our diet…..just a thought to encourage you forward ❤️
@anicecupoftea – yes Bury St Edmunds is a beautiful town and I love the rose garden hidden in Abbey Gardens and I love all the small shops to be found – I fear a bit of a shopping trip awaits me 🤣
@bert1802 – well done on that successful FD – that PFDS does exists!!
@funshipfreddie – thank you for the encouragement – keep looking out for me and well done on that 956 days 🚫 🍷

Day 14 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 237 lbs. Picnic late morning today, then probably nothing until supper time since I have to stop in two more counties before ending my day. Despite the picnic, I think today will be easier than normal. @at yes, I have started that process in the past couple of weeks. In fact, I reset my spreadsheet that tracks and averages weigh-ins and predicts trends from the previous ten days, and since early April, the trend is headed downward — something hard for me to see day to day or even week to week. It is only a slight downward trend, but downward nonetheless, so I must have stumbled onto something. As you said, I have to re-examine what I’m eating and how much on NFDs, if progress stalls in June, I’ll need to do a more formal review for sure.
Day 14 NE England IF 16:8
It has been quite refreshing to get back to basics after our holiday. As much as I enjoyed a pub lunch with a beer – I think I’ve enjoyed today’s salad with water more! Looking at my healthy habits, I’m considering what I need to focus on this week, certainly drinking more water and making sure I have a “balanced” plate are my starting points.
I will wait until Friday to record my weight on the spreadsheet and take it from there.
Day 15 FD 69.2kg🔻 🌋🏃🏼♀️
Checking in before catching the bus to see a ?mocumentary on English modernist designer Eileen Gray: House by the Sea about her and her troubled relationship with Corbusier, French architect. I will know more later!!
There’s some serious mojo going on @iona72 if you prefer a salad over a pub lunch!! Mind you it is definitely getting colder here with shorter days so a pie and a beer sounds delicious!!!
@stitchincarol How wonderful!! You must be enjoying your new low!!!
Apologies. @at I have mixed up your sciatica with hip problems… One is quite enough… Happy to hear you’re improving
@funshipfreddie You’re a legend… Cheers!!

Day 15 – UK – CD
Well I managed to successfully complete the planned B2B2B FD800s and planning on a OMAD CD today
I’m driving down to Suffolk in a couple of hours, planning at least 2 stops to walk about to help with my sciatica as recommended by the physiotherapist 🤞
More sunshine and hot weather ahead for the next week at least – an amazingly long spell for us here in the UK
I had my garden redone late last year so have lots of new plants that need nurturing and watering – DH has been tasked with doing the watering in my absence – if any of my plants die he has been told that he will not be easily forgiven 🤣
Lovely yoga class yesterday morning concentrating on Moon 🌔 Salutations – all thankfully very good for my sciatica – enjoyed coffee in the sunshine with some of the gang afterwards then a full afternoon of volunteering and then organising home and packing for today’s trip
@brightonbelle and @ccco – it was very nice to see your name on yesterday’s pocket list – gave me motivation to carry on x
@funshipfreddie – interesting article on intermittent low-carb-ing – I actually find that simple carbohydrates that digest quickly and so they tend to spike your blood sugar do stimulate my appetite – I might incorporate some of the ideas into my WOE going forward
@northgeorgia – stay positive going forward and I hope that you find a way forward to will help you achieve your goals
@stitchincarol – well done on that “151.6 That’s probably a three-year low”
I weighed myself this morning and will see what the damage of the next few days is……..when I weigh in next Wednesday morning – I will try to post in daily whilst I’m away to help keep me motivated and in control 🤞I don’t expect to lose but no gain would be so rewarding!!
Right off to finish packing and get organised to be on the road by 10am the latest

@merryapple – I’m not a legend anymore – I just blew my 52 day Wordle streak. That’s what I get for bragging 😢
@stitchincarol – a 3 year low – woohoo!! 🥳 You should move house more often! 😅
@at – simple carbs usually equate to UPFs too, so another reason to avoid them. Enjoy your trip! 🚗
@brightonbelle – I always feel ‘meh’ at the start of a FD. But it kind of wears off as the day progresses & I see success ahead. Can’t see the emoji you typed next to ‘Day 15’ – just a little white square – so I’ve added an avo.

Day 15 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD
I slept poorly, so then I slept late, so then I had to hurry to get to Bible class on time, but I’m finding my motivation for following through on this WFD is very low indeed, so I’m posting in the middle of the day in hopes I’ll get back on track mentally.
I’m finding that I lose my motivation when I’m too busy thinking about other things, and that’s certainly true these days! 🫨😂😂😂 Getting quotes from movers about the piano, realizing how many cupboards need sorting before they can be packed, trying to find a patio dining table that’s actually in stock—these things distract me from fasting, and make me so aggravated I want to comfort eat, LOL!
But I’m taking deep breaths and working on making like a duck and letting it all wash off me!
And I WILL do my water fast today because I finally remembered the key phrase: This WF is non-negotiable. There we go; I should be good now. Thanks, @funshipfreddie, for such a perfect phrase!
Have a grand one, everyone!
Day 26 NFD NZ 69.4kg🔺🌋
I leapt out of bed and was at the base of Mt Eden in 10 mins this morning… no tea, no breakfast, no brushed hair… and had a Mexican burrito afterwards…😋I was starving!!
The movie was OK only. All up it was a pretty lightweight account of someone of significance in early 20th century design history who lived in Paris at a time of great intellectual ferment across all the creative disciplines…
https://www.patriciaoreilly.net/features-2/the-amazing-story-of-eileen-gray
@funshipfreddie I missed a Wordle for the first time 4eva the other day too… Have you tried @penz waffle game?? It’s a time waster…🤣
Onward and downward everyone!!
Day 16 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 71.5 kg
@stitchincarol – I hope your WFD turned out to be a non-negotiable success! Although, I find when I’ve got a lot going on, especially on a FD, then the last thing I think about is eating. I understand that being busy & being stressed out aren’t necessarily the same thing though. There’s being pleasantly busy & then being frantic. And poor sleep can also lead to poor eating habits
@merryapple – I haven’t tried @penz‘ Waffle game yet. I’ve got 7 ‘Words with Friends’ games in permanent motion; & then having to feed my greedy cat 14 times a day – who has the time?! 😅 BTW, what happened to @penz? I don’t think she’s posted yet this month.. 🤔
Another lovely, sunny day here, going up to 27 C later. I’m off to Grassy Roof again for brunch.

Day 16 – UK – NFD
Had a good drive down to Suffolk yesterday – did 3 stops walking around for 15mins and arrived with no sciatica pain…….so a good start!
I also managed to mostly stick to my planned OMAD apart from a banana and a flat white with semi skimmed milk during my 2nd stop during the drive down, probably went a bit over my TDEE due to my share of a bottle of rose I shared with my friend over a delicious home cooked dinner that evening 🤣
Tonight I am taking her out for a meal at our favourite French restaurant – she thinks it’s only the two of us but I have arranged for another friend to join us as a surprise!!! Will try to stick to OMAD once more but no hope of it being controlled……
NIce weather but surprisingly not as warm as up North!!! Planning on hitting the shops a bit later for some retail therapy…..
Keep enjoying life ❤️
Day 16 – USA/GA – ZBC/NFD
Weigh-in: 239 lbs. Yes, that’s right, I’m actually down over yesterday’s weigh-in! I think three factors to consider:
1. It was pretty obvious to me that most of yesterday’s morning gain was due to water retention since it was up very high for the amount I ate.
2. I did not act like a pig yesterday and was fortunate that each event was a buffet! So I ate lightly at both, including stuffing myself with salad with a little vinaigrette dressing at the pizza buffet (only one slice, thank you).
3. Let’s be honest — the food you eat today will take more than 24 hours to manifest as body fat, and that’s why it’s important to not go wild on NFDs. It will eventually catch up, as it has with me over the past couple of years.
I have a family reunion event Sunday, so Monday should be my next FD. Still, I’m trying to chill out the NFDs so the FDs seem less of a major deal.
Day 16 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 151.4
I’m down 2/10 of a pound over Wednesday’s post-WFD weight, so I’m slowly making progress. My WF was indeed successful yesterday, but it took lots and lots of repetitions of “Today’s WF is non-negotiable!” to remember not to give in, LOL. And, yes, @funshipfreddie, being busy is very different from being stressed. To add to all that’s going on, a member who was determined that DH would be around to do his funeral, died at 5pm on Wednesday. He was 96, so it’s not unreasonable for him to have reached the end of his life, but he set out to die in early April, and everyone is shaking their heads that he simply willed himself to die, and succeeded. So insteaded of Sunday being Dh’s–and my, for that matter–last day of service, we have a funeral to do next week.
DD and her family are driving from Indianapolis tomorrow to be here for Sunday’s service and catered dinner. They’ll stay in a hotel down in Lincoln just to make it simpler for everyone, and after we’re done here on Sunday, we’ll drive down to the new house and have a lovely family dinner there. This morning will be spent in the new house getting it as tidy as possible and piddly things done. So I definitely won’t post on Sunday, and may head down there tomorrow to accomplish things and may not post. But I’ll be back next week. Oh, and tonight, DH and go out to a lovely restaurant to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary; I’m looking forward to the relaxing and excellent food! https://www.semofremont.com/
Have a grand one, everyone!

Looking fwd to the weekend and starting out today with my FD Friday…. This has become quite routine now so it’s a “no brainer” – only concession is a few cups of white tea, other than that it’s black coffee and water only. The amount of milk I have is under 800 for sure.
@at was that 3 FDs in a row? – that’s good going if so, not ever done more than 48hrs.
not much planned for the weekend, maybe catch up on some sleep and gardening, work has been mental lately.
Have a good one all – Fast well and feel good…
Day 17 NZ NFD 69.6kg🔺🌋🦮
Quick check in before meeting Paisley the Scottie for a slow walk…
I went to the Writers and Readers Festival y’day afternoon to hear British author, Samantha Harvey talk about her book, Orbital which won last year’s Booker Prize. She said Orbital has no plot so it’s not about story telling, but is a series of meditations by astronauts living in a space station looking back at earth. She was fascinated by what happens to the concept of time and gravity in space; observing night and day on earth from a distance; the shifts in perspectives when confined in a small container looking out at the vastness. I bought her book to read!!! It was a pleasure and so interesting to hear her speak!!
She went swimming over on Waiheke Island with her partner and was joined by a pod of 4 dolphins who stayed and played with them for half an hour, much to their delight!!
@northgoergia Great to hear you’re getting control back. Keep up the good work 💪
@brightonbelle The NZ America’s Cup team have just announced they are hosting their defence in… NAPLES… despite everyone wanting it here. Did you have Pizza??!! Was it good?!!
@stitchincarol Have a lovely anniversary dinner😋 I’m glad for the old boy who made it to heaven just in time for your DH to do his send off🙏
@anicecupoftea Enjoy your weekend! I can’t help picturing you with your feet up in your garden with a nice cup of tea!!🤣
@at I like the sound of that retail therapy!!
@funshipfreddie I’ll look those games up!! Don’t forget to add making coasters to your busy schedule
@jaifaim Are you still on holiday???
Have a great weekend!!
Onward and downward!!
Day 17 country west Australia FD 84.2 kgs
I don’t usually do a weekend FD but looking at Cruella this morning has jolted me back to reality.
Too many chocolates since Monday and I made Golden Syrup Dumplings for DH as he was a bit cold going round and round on the tractor. I was not going to have any but my ‘Won’t power’ went AWOL and Cruella just smiled….
@northgeorgia, it is good to hear you are working out where your problems might lie. I HATE doing MyFitnessPal but am sticking with it for a few weeks until I get my portion sizes and calories under control.🙄🙄
@stitchincarol, I am not surprised you have lost weight with all that shifting and exercise! It is interesting that some people do seem to be able to stay alive until a certain event and then die at a time which suits them – not VAD – but just naturally. 🤔 Anyway, good luck with all your ‘lasts’ over the week. 🙏
@merryapple, the book ‘Orbital’ sounds interesting. I have always thought that time is not linear but warps vertically and horizontally and varies. Lots of my friends think I am a bit odd about this !😵💫😁
I am in a bookclub and we are doing ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’. I stayed up until 1 am this morning trying to get it finished. Finding it more intriguing than I thought I would.
What is a crawdad??
And I am sorry to hear about your friend’s brother, hoping you are all going OK. MVAs can be so shocking.
@anicecupoftea, sounds like a perfect weekend, and well done on the FDs.😇
@brightonbelle, I am on a similar journey to you and I didn’t go to Naples !!
But my NFDs this week have not been sensible 😞
Doing a FD today with @funshipfreddie‘s ” this FD is non-negotiable” ringing in my ears.😁
@funshipfreddie, I too have been doing Wordle for a few years. It keeps wiping my score and setting to zero. A boast here – I am up to a run of 365 + in a row solved.
I always show my DH just so he can see I am being truthful. When he isn’t here I screenshot it and send to him!!
I got yesterday’s in only 3 attempts so was pretty pleased but took 5 attempts this morning as wasn’t sure of the first letter….🤔🤔
Have you tried ‘Quordle” – 4 at the same time , or ‘Octordle’ – 8 at the same time? I did them for a while but it was taking too much time. I only spend 5-10 minutes first thing in the morning to do Wordle, Connections and Tiles then it’s off to start the day.
@at, sorry to hear bout your sciatica but glad you can walk. Sending positive thoughts. The good thing is that a good diet with lots of fruit and vegetables is anti-inflammatory and good for healing. 🥦
@iona 72, glad you are enjoying salads and impressed at your resolve. I find ‘Pub Grub’ to be really tempting and usually very reasonably priced. 🫢
@ccco, well done on the lower numbers and the looser clothing 💐
@bert1802 very well done on the FD and perseverance 😇💐
Sending wishes to @jaifiaim,@Penz, @flourbaby and hoping you are all going well. Apologies but I can’t remember if they are away…
@daffodil2010, It seems like many of us are in “Club Tortwa”, coined by ?? some years ago!
Slow and steady WILL get us over the line.
Have a very good one, everyone.😊
Day 17 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
@lilymartin – Sending you RESOLVE for your Saturday FD! 💪 A +365 day Wordle streak?! I cannot compete; I think my highest is around 90 days. Although, I do currently have a 659 day Duolingo (Spanish) streak 😇 I take screenshots of my Wordle result too sometimes 😅 I haven’t tried Quordle, I don’t want to risk getting hooked on any more games! 🤯
@merryapple – I really am busy with the coasters! I was working on them til 9 last night. Which isn’t easy with a cat on your lap. I’m off to the Mosaic store just now for more supplies.
@stitchincarol – enjoy your family get-together & the restaurant. Those prices though?! 😲
Gotta run, have a great weekend everyone! 🌤 🌈
Pocket List -Day 17 🫒
@lilymartin
Day 17 UK NFD
I used to be extremely keen on doing wordle daily , I still enjoy but not as regularly but admire your 365+ @lilymartin
I’m not a yachty @merry🍎but Naples port area is massive , a bit daunting to see 5 massive cruise ships docked on the Saturday but a 5 min walk round to the smaller yacht area provided a fabulous backdrop for a very memorable lunch🦐 and the pizza is truly delicious
Slowly getting back to better habits – very impressed with weekend fasters I’ll be on the list Monday
Pocket list Day 17 🫒
Day 17 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 239 lbs. I have rediscovered milk — I mean whole full-fat milk! Now, I know my body, and I know I absolutely can’t drink it in the evenings as I must have some sort of lactose intolerance within a few hours of bedtime, but never in the day (go figure). However, I have found that a tall glass of whole milk suppresses my appetite within 15 minutes. It really is incredible! I suspect having low-calorie, protein-rich meal with milk on NFDs will over time reduce my caloric intake to below TDEE. I’m going to experiment with this over the next month. https://www.getthegloss.com/health/the-5-2-diet/michael-mosley-why-full-fat-milk-is-better-for-weight-loss/
I do have a family reunion event tomorrow with a full potluck lineup, so my next FD will be Monday.
Day 18 NZ NFD 68.4kg🔻
Quick check in as I’m going out for an Arabian breakfast with Iraqi friends.
I was talking with a friend for hours on the phone last night and went past dinner time… Her father 93 has taken to his bed with jaundice but refuses hospital level treatment because that’s where people die… His GP is away, she’s here, father is in Hawkes Bay. She’s flying down today.
I’m having a boiled egg now to have some protein…
@northgeorgia Great to find a new approach to help you!! Milk products do stimulate acid production in your stomach, which you noticed when you drank it in the evening and lay horizontally.
Have a good day!!
Onward and downward!!
Day 18 country west Australia 83.9 kgs
Pride goeth before a fall! Just got this morning’s Wordle on the last attempt !!😰
@funshipfreddie, the you for your resolve – much needed! But It was a bit easier than I thought with yesterday’s FD. 🥵🥵well….
It was only an FD800 but with DH away and a beautiful sunny day spent in the garden I was not within cooee of the kitchen so easier than days when I am in the office doing office work and the siren song of the kitchen, fridge and pantry beguile me….
We have got into the habit of having a larger meal for lunch and a much smaller dinner consisting of a few nuts ( walnuts, almonds about 5-6 ), sauerkraut, hummus, 1/4 avocado, a small tomato , 2-3 piece of pineapple or strawberries in season, a very small ( and yes it really is small 😲😲) piece of cheese , 3 or 4 olives. Occasionally on cold nights we have a1/2 slice of toasted homemade wholemeal/rye/sourdough bread.
I feel much better going to bed on this smaller meal where everything is portioned in teaspoon/tablespoon amounts rather than a full plate.
Have a good Sunday. Off to church for me!!
Day 18 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD
@lilymartin – it was tricky today?! I got it in five, still too close for comfort 😅
@merryapple – 68.4?! 🎯 💪
@northgeorgia – thanks for sharing that article. I’m sure the splash of full cream milk in my tea/coffee on FDs helps me to get through the worst. It’s still hard to believe Michael Mosley is no longer with us though.
Happy S🌞nday!
Pocket List – Day 18 🥛
@funshipfreddie
Day 18 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 240 lbs. Tomorrow will be a FD; today is a potluck meal with one branch of the family. @funshipfreddie I think Michael Mosley was constantly researching what was effective, and it’s exciting to find some forgotten article, interview, or piece of work that he wrote. I think it’s a testament to his legacy.
I’m up over last week, but I only had one FD. This week should be much closer to normal (after today) until vacation starts up on Saturday.
Day 18 NE England
Quick check in to keep me accountable!
Love Wordle every morning and Waffle @penz got me hooked on -along with RW&P today!!
Had a day out at Tots Festival, great fun but very chilly. Kids loved it! Watching PGA golf now with a G&T must get back on track!!
Day 19 CD country west Australia
Was going to be a FD today but DH had made me toast with Vegemite ( 1/2 slice but still…) when I got back from my walk so think that would put me over 500 already so will do FD tomorrow .
@iona72,I find checking in for accountability is always really helpful.
I haven’t done Waffle and what is RW&P ?
@stitchincarol, I hope everything went well for the service etc and your moving. Trust your back is on the mend.
Thank you for so generously sharing why you ceased being a vegetarian. It was kind of your , given the circumstances.🙂
@northgeorgia, sending lots of RESOLVE for the potluck dinner. 🤞
@funshipfreddie, Yes, yesterday wasn’t my finest attempt but better today getting it in 3. I also got Connections and Tiles done ‘perfectly’ apparently !! so feeling my brain exercises going well today.😁
I am curious as to where everybody has gone. Whether they are taking a break form 5:2; whether they find our posts too long to read? Not talking bout 5:2 WOL enough? 🤔🤔
Anyway, I am pleased to back on the wagon and slowly edging down and making better food choices for health, fitness and weight loss.
Have a good Monday everyone.🙃
Day 19 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 71.5 kg
@lilymartin – half a slice of toast with Vegemite is only about 50 cals?! No Tuesday morning PFDS for you 😏 I got the Wordle in 5 again today; still traumatised 😲
@iona72 – what’s RW&P? 🤔
Off for a well-deserved brunch after my Sunday FD. Have a good, motivated week everyone 🎯
Pocket List – Day 19 🍏

Reset button pressed ! New 14 day yoga challenge and aim to eat clean and healthy and get a few of those jobs I keep putting off done this week
@lilymartin – I think it’s just the way it goes sometimes everyone has something to say and on board other times life gets in the way , I’m sure there will be more of us this week I’m committed to reading and posting every day 💪
