  • Hi im new to the forum but have been doing 4:3 since 2 june. After working in retail for 11 years and on feet all day, i changed my job to a desk job and omg in 15 months my weight rocketed! Clothes would just not fit. Not a happy bunny. Then my sister asked my husband and i to go away in sept this year with her and her hubby..well the thought of getting this this body out for all to see just did not sit well lol. So decided to take drastic action. Iv visited this site many times just to read the comments etc and i did the calculator. So i decided to go for it.. i fast mon, weds and friday and the rest of the week i try and stick to around 1430. On the whole ive found it not too bad. I have cheated a couple of times but only wen i felt starving and my husband started resembling a chicken leg ! So i have a slice of thinly buttered toast and that does the trick. So for figures.. i was exactly 10 stones on 2 june and i now weigh 9 st 4 lbs. Want to get to just under 9. That way wen i pig out on holiday i wont have to much to lose again when i come home lol.

Just wondering why you calorie restrict on off days? The book refers to more success being had if you up your cals by aprrox 10%more than normal, as you’re avoiding any of the negative feelings physocally and mentally then. Genuinely curious as I see so many people restrict but I eat what I want (too much) and still seems to work.

Hi..once I got down to 9stone I decided I was happy with that. I find if I stay around 1430 cals per day I dont put any weight on. Of course I do have days when I eat more than that but im not as rigid as I use to be. I have never had any negative feelings at all doing this diet. At first it was a little difficult because I did feel hungry but as I actually lost weight rather quickly that was the only motivation I needed. I now tend to eat what I want and if I feel Ive over indulged then I just watch what I eat for a day or two. I also feel much healthier and believe I eat healthier also. I must admit Ive never been overweight but as Ive got older I have put weight on and changing jobs did not help. I really was not happy buying 12/14 clothes. I am now back to 10/12 and very happy.

Ah right, so it’s more just that you know what your body needs. Yeah, I admit fasting makes my weight stabilise more than ever before (never been truly overweight but think I hit that speed weight gain button people allude to and found this shortly after. Counting probably would help me eat more veggies, but I guess I was always skinny as a kid so have never thought abouy it before.

Exactly. Like I said, Ive never been classed as overweight but did eat a lot of rubbish..chocolate, cakes, crisps etc. Now I dont really bother with them that much. I actually prefer fruit..grapes, pineapple, kiwi fruit. That doesnt mean to say I dont have cake etc. I think Im just more aware of what I put into my body these days and feel that as Im getting older (54) I dont want to turn into a barrel when the dreaded menopause strikes lol. I think I was a little bit obsessive with this diet originally but Im far more relaxed now. I think thats because I know if I put a little weight on I can easily get rid of it. This diet definately works for me. How long have you been doing this for and is it working for you.
By the way, my names Debbie..
