  • I just finished the book, and start my first fast day tomorrow – I need to lose 45kg.
I’ve picked Mon and Thur as my fast days – prep work done – now for the execution.

Hi quite one, I too am starting tomorrow! Book read no special food prepared but as its a fast day I guess I have all day to plan it! Apprehensive but excited to start and see how I get on. I’ve also picked monday and Thursday.

Slimgirl very best of luck – I’m excited to get underway. My coworker gave me her number #1 tip : Drink plenty of water!!

    Hi Q0 and SG,

Are you completely fasting or backing off to 1/4 TDEE? Make sure you have lots of water and also top up with vitamin B5 as well. Should help with you utilising your fat stores better. Be prepared to for the headaches to last up to a few weeks as your body gets used to burning fat instead of primarily glucose. It does get easier, I lost 19kgs and am now at my self imposed weight.

Thanks bigbooty, I’m doing 500 calls. I read that it’s best t stay away from the white carbs bread pasta rice etc but can I eat brown bread or should I start away from all bread? Any advice please? Thanks

    Hi SG,

Personally I stay away from carbs as I think it makes it a lot easier on fast days. Simple carbs like bread rice pasta etc. will make it really hard. You will be hungry again within the hour. Go for protein and vegetable/salad type meals. It will satiate you for a lot longer. A big bowl of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mushrooms, peas (any green vegetable really that you like) + 100g of tuna or bacon, couple of cubes of cheese if you like. Drizzle a bit of olive oil and apple cider vinegar (make sure it has less than 1% sugar content!!).

In fact take two tablespoons of apple vinegar before EVERY meal will help lower your insulin spike to carbs and cause less to be stored as fat.

Don’t be scared of high fat foods, its the simple sugars that are the killers!! For breakfast I have high fat low sugar Greek yogurt with some berries (any berries as they have low sugar content) and almonds. Absolutely yum and will keep you going to lunch.
