😂 so phonetically @flourbaby Dia daoibh – is pronounced:Deeya yeeav!
It literally means : God (dia) be with you (plural).
A cairde is: friends – pronounced: a cordya
Cara is the singular form and used as a first name in many countries. ☘️

@flourbaby well done to you!! Bottle that 3lbs loss feeling! Oh if only we could… wouldn’t that be great… there are few feelings quite like it…
“Slipped into FD800s” you didn’t think you’d be saying that a little while ago… and as a by the by… you’re great! 💪

@excelsior12309 it is great that 800 is working for you too!

@ccco I hope you are having a very special time. Thoughts with you now. 💕

@funshipfreddie it was so cold here yesterday! Felt like 3´. What is going on?? Go on give a plank a try today – Boo Boo will love it! Probably will come sit on your back… 🐱 I think of those who are not here often… I’m an eternal optimist but also a nostalgic type of person- maybe we all are.. I just hope all those who’ve challenged with us in the past are ok. Give us a wave if that is all you can do right now 💕👋 I understand that too.. life is tricky…

@merryapple I’ve actually managed to fit those trousers since I got back into them… sometimes more space than other times but generally I am in them 👖💕 oooooh that fall sounds sore! Flares should come with a warning ⚠️ lucky you didn’t hit your teeth! A super stylish friend of mine was walking once in those over the knee boots and the zip area in both caught and she went flying… one front tooth gone..Yikes!!! The pain.
Your hill walks really seem to be working for you both in body and mind – hurrah and huge kudos to you on that and multiple plank types. 🌟
@snowflake56 and @excelsior12309 I have so many clothes of different sizes… most of the clothes from my 20s have been lost along the way.. it’s actually a mystery 🤷‍♀️ but maybe that’s best 😂 . They are probably in a box in France somewhere… pick one piece that you think could be achievable.. you will get into it! And the. Just pick the next.. it’s a good target. 🎯

@metatauta – that’s so funny – cottage cheese has never sung out to me but recently I’ve seen lots of recipes for protein bread which involves cottage cheese so I went looking for it yesterday but I could not find it. One with avocado which looked most interesting – these are also gluten free so would be great for me. I’ll try find it…. I tried this week d in two supermarkets and no joy 🤷‍♀️

@missybear checking in for the win – well done! Look forward to seeing you later.
I’m aiming to post and respond daily but there will be days this month where I’ll be brief as time will most likely be tight … 🔄 (that’s a roundabout 😂)

@stitchincarol I am assuming you are enjoying the vacation bible school and will be back soon to tell us about it… 🙏

@northgeorgia ⬇️ again! 💪 hopefully you can resist the pressure today – if you need and want to?

Oops… forgot to plank first thing… on a train now… would it be weird? Yes 😂 but I have a colleague who used to take a break and drop to the floor at his desk for a plank (they are young and fun). Maybe I’ll do that when I’m in 😂 they really won’t even notice . I’ll just pretend I’m looking for a paperclip📎

    Day 6 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

The sun is shining, finally & the power’s on, so all good.
I was awake too early with an upset stomach though, so feeling a bit out of sorts. I had lunch at a different place yesterday; otherwise I doubt it was anything I ate last night. Maybe it’ll make for a very easy FD 🤞

RESOLVE to us Thursday fasters! 💪🎯

    Day 6, London, UK, FD800

Soup & Soup today…………………….. it’s too cold for anything else!!!😢😢 But (silver lining) at least its FD800 friendly!!🥳🥳

@northgeorgia, one day at a time of swerving as much as you can, will reward you with a downward trend. The prospect of a ‘bad food choice’ day does NOT make it so!!! Choose wisely at your lunch, just choose YOU!!!

@metatauta, if I swerve the booze and choose healthy (non-beige!) carbs and drink at least 2.5L water/day, I can usually get a -5lb week. My biggest problem is consistency as staying on track at the weekend is my biggest challenge. So, no vino in the house, an hourly timer on my phone to remind me about chugging water and a weekend menu pre-prepared so the Gruyere doesn’t scream my name when I get to a @stitchincarol level #3!! I’m at a B’day party this weekend, I’m taking alcohol free, 0 Carb gin (AF wine is pants!!🤮) and I’m planning to eat before I go so there’s NO chance of getting to level 3 whilst there!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

No judgement from me @merryapple, your system is working marvellously for you and a hill walk or 2 will get rid of that cake!! For me, I never get to the point where I have ‘lurking’ cake, it arrives at the house ……………….. then I might spend 30 mins talking myself out of eating it, 5 mins later it’s gone!!!🤭🤭

@snowflake56, unfortunately lots of the original features are missing except the picture rails, dado rails and art-deco banisters, which the surveyor said need replacing because the gaps are too big!!🤨 Personally, I think it’s just better to keep an eye on any visiting small children who might fall through rather than rip out the essence of the house!!😲😲

@jaifaim, thank you cara!! I AM great!!🤣🤣I’m working that fasting muscle sooo hard!!!💪🏼💪🏼 Now to get the plank beyond 30sec!!!😳

@funshipfreddie, the perils of eating out!! I hope your tummy settles. I doubt any commercial establishment has the same hygiene standards I do in the kitchen, so I’m always checking for cleanliness when I eat out, from the front window, floors & general décor to the cutlery & tablecloths!!! It’s the reason buffets aren’t my thing either @snowflake56, too many hands touching or people talking/coughing near exposed food!!! Y’all know I love a flour based treat, but the open pastry displays in supermarkets give me the heebie-jeebies!!! I can practically see the apple turnovers absorbing the airborne germs!!😳🤮🤭

Enough!! Back to work, stay strong folks!!

    Day 6 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 227 lbs. Just a trickle weight-loss over yesterday, but a loss is still a loss. Very satisfied from my 234 lb weigh-in on Sunday, but still a long way to go, and still 20 lbs above my all-time low a couple of years back. I feel confident that I can eat sensibly and healthily today. Naturally, there will be some weight gain, but I’m hoping I’ll see a loss this Sunday over the last one 🙂

    @funshipfreddie Hope your stomach settles.

    Happy Friday Eve!

    Day 6 Wales FD
Another brief check in today, lots to do so should be a good FD!

Just saw the bulletin that Dr M is missing on a Greek island.

    🙏🏼Praying that he’s found safely & soon🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Just seen it myself. It is a small Greek island and hopefully he will soon be found, safe and well I hope.

    2nd Post – Day 6

@northgeorgia – thanks! I think the worst is over.

    3rd Post – Day 6

    ☝️ reported

Day 6 – Rural Nebraska, USA

My day has started at 7:30 each day this week, and gone straight into a variety of other things until late evening; I just finished my day twenty minutes ago (at 8:30) with an online meeting.

It hasn’t been stressful at all, but merely non-stop, so I haven’t tried to post.

I’m headed to bed now, but I have one story and one recipe.

On Monday at noon, when the kids were leaving after their first day, one four-year-old was weeping unconsolably. Why? She didn’t want to go home; she wanted VBS to keep going into the afternoon. ❤️❤️❤️😂🤣😂

Recipe: I made this for supper tonight, and ran out of time and ambition to serve anything with it, but it had a goodly amount of protein and DH and I were both happy with it with nothing else, and actually loved the salad. Hope you all enjoy it! https://pinchofyum.com/chopped-thai-salad-sesame-garlic-dressing

    I’ll be back soon, LOL!

    Day 7, Germany, CD

No time to read or post this morning, woke up too late.

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 7 – Ireland – CD – 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾.
    157lbs

    Hi all,
    @funshipfreddie thanks for reporting!
Still no updates on Dr Mosley – what a worrying time. I hope you are feeling better… and you were able to enjoy the better weather. Still cold here.
For some reason this week I am trending higher… +2lbs above May closing weight and out of maintenance but.. it could be rice dinner last night, cycling snacks at weekend – who knows but I am playing the long game in June and it is only the closing number which matters… these fluctuations whilst never good to see… (except for renewed focus) are just that… 🌟

@flourbaby Great to hear that you are doing grrrreeeat (I thought of Tigger 🐯 when I read that yesterday). Hey I’m very much the same with the weekends often derailing my weekly efforts.
Let us be Weekend Warrors this weekend 💪 🏹 , Charge into control, bat back those buns and bagels, shoot out the sugar. We can do it 🏋️‍♀️ . Let’s prove it to ourselves

@ccco yes! What a list. I was on it in error, my error! Yesterday was a NFD as I was out for a catch up with French friends after work. Lovely fun night. Bravo to all the fasters!

@missybear hope the FD went well 👍

@snowflake56 i hope the day goes better than your start! Always discombobulating when you wake up late… 🙃

@stitchincarol I am glad the week is going so well… it sounds like you are getting to enjoy it all… time out. The poor little pet 💕 but at 4 to want to stay on – it says a lot.
Thanks for the recipe! My favourite type of salad! Not sure what canola oil is but looking it up right now…

    @northgeorgia 👏 keep at it..

Hi everyone else! @metatauta@excelsior12309 @merryapple @at @leoniraats and all the lurkers
Just want to say.. we are all fabulous. Simple statement but we are!

Off to plank, walk, focus, oh and work 😂

    Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕

    Day 7 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 69.2 kg

Quite a pocket list yesterday?! I hope all the fasters are experiencing PFDS 💪

Oops?! The stomach upset was all my fault. I had some sliced beef on Wednesday night. It was vacuum-sealed, so I didn’t think it mattered about the power being out for two days whilst it sat in the fridge. But apparently it does. It was also 2 days beyond its ‘use by’ date. That’ll do it, right? 🤮 It looked & tasted fine, but I won’t make that mistake again. Not the best way to lose weight. Don’t try this at home 🥴️

@jaifaim – those Gaelic words look like what comes up on my screen after Boo Boo’s taken a stroll across my keyboard 😂 It must be a tough language to learn. I just saw your post. Weather was okay yesterday. A cool 20 C but it was good to see the blue sky again & the sea no longer looked like pea soup. I forgot about my steps, but my fitness tracker buzzed, literally as I was getting in bed, to say I’d hit 8000 steps 😇

@flourbaby – I love going out for lunch, & I always eat out on NFDs. I tend to stick to the same couple of places, but I’m going to another different one today – The Lemon Tree. It’s got good reviews & the friend I’m going with has been there before. Now that I don’t drink or gamble anymore, it’s about the only thing I splurge on. Throw in a sea view & bring me a cappuccino at 20 minute intervals & I could sit there all afternoon 😅

Search still on for Michael Mosley:

    Happy Fri-yay! 🍹

    Day 7, London, UK, FD800

It’ll be a quick one from me, I’m flat out, like a lizard drinking water!!😁😁

Worrying lack of news about Dr.M.🙏🏼

It’s the weekly work breakfast, so chicken salad with ALL the veg for me, it’ll marinate in the fridge until MY breakfast………….. at about 2pm!!

    Stay strong everyone, I’ll have a proper catch-up later.👍🏼👍🏼

    Day 7 NZ NFD 73.2kg 🏃🏼‍♀️

Oh my goodness… I just read your Daily Mail article @funshipfreddie. It is not looking too good for Dr Mosley – A super hot day and rocky hills surrounded by water… His poor wife and family. This news has rather taken the wind out of my sails…

@funshipfreddie I have been introduced to a great Texan singer called Charley Crockett (direct descendant of Davy Crockett!!) by my Texan friend. I thought you might be interested to hear him in view of your line dancing. He’s had an old fashioned life on the road in Texas and New Orleans which you can hear in his songs, like $10 Cowboy.
Yummy salad @stitchincarol and a sweet story about the 4 year old.
I hope everyone had PFDS… The pocket list has become more akin to a handbag list (apologies to the blokes).

    Steely RESOLVE!

    Day 7-No. VA USA-NFD
Just checking in to say I am here and will eat sensibly today. Fingers crossed for good news about Dr. Mosley.

    Day 7 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 229 lbs. Yikes, maybe we’ll hear some good news about Dr. M soon.

    Day 7 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

Brilliant FD yesterday, keeping busy is definitely the key. I woke feeling less flabby around the middle but don’t want to step on the scales yet for fear of disappointment.

@jaifaim love the concept of Weekend Warriors. I aim to be a sober Weekend Warrior!

Watching the news and hoping we get some good news about Dr M soon 🙏 🤞

    Day 8 NZ NFD 73.0kg 🏃🏼‍♀️

It can be tough keeping everything together to stay on the downhill slide… Three weeks to go and I’m aiming for the 72s… Last week I exercised more and ate less but where oh where is a 72🫤on the scales…
I have been on ant patrol in the kitchen… Two separate nests invaded so I had wee blobs of ant poison around the place. It becomes obsessive, like dispatching your meece @stitchincarol.
@missybear Wonderful to hear you enjoyed a FD!!! As for no weekend EtOH… 🤔
@jaifaim I have switched to planking just before bedtime. They warm me up and relax me and I cannot say I’ll do them later! Hope your training bike rides are going well and you’re swerving the weekend temptations!!
@funshipfreddie Poisoning yourself??! I wonder how many others managed to do the same thing…??
@flourbaby Breakfast at 2pm? I hope your brain is still functioning!!

I looked up the BBC website for news on Dr M. It sounds very strange that he has completely disappeared but🤞a clue will appear.

Steely Resolve… and watch those carbs!

    Day 8, Germany, CD

I hope they soon find out what happened to Dr M., what a terrible time for this family.

@jaifaim The rest of the day went very well. My husband is at a hospital 4,5 km from the apartment I’m in. We drove up to the hospital and I did the walk from and to 3 times. The plan was he had to stay there for 4 nights but I can pick him up later. I’ll walk again and then stay in the apartment until Monday.

@flourbaby At least you still have a few original features left. It’s a pity we can’t post pictures here, I love looking at houses. The Dutch site where a lot of for sale houses are presented is called Funda, a favorite pastime from lot of people is to look at all the shown houses.

The weather is lovely overhere so a good day for a walk.

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 8 – Ireland – CD – 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾.

    Hi all,
I’m off out on the bike now after a good sleep – i hope everyone is well on this lovely Saturday! I was feeling ropey yesterday but much better today I think.

@excelsior12309 and all, yes how strange regarding Dr. Mosley… searching a different area now…but hopefully he is found today. 🙏

@flourbaby hope your day went alright. I had a super busy week so very glad it’s over. And… breathe…. 🧘‍♀️
Great healthy lunch you had.. l fell for gf coffee cake as was on the road and it was offered and is rare so yes yesterday I went a little off course but nothing that can’t be fixed. 🙃 🥕🥕 🥬

@funshipfreddie oh no… i generally use the use by/best before as a loose guide only but with no power to the frigo it probably did heat up and poison you – oops! Very much enjoy coffee and lunch out now that I’m not out for drinks etc Sun can be elusive here but sea views I have.
In terms of Gaelic, it’s a tough language for non-speakers to learn – we start at 5 in primary (if you don’t speak Irish at home) and continue for 14 years until we leave school so it just is what it is. It is a very old language with many words with no English equivalent and for example j, k, q, v, w, x, y, z do not exist.
I heard two retired Americans on the radio yesterday who are taking our state school exam in Irish which is very impressive. Its unfortunate that many of us don’t use it as much as we could/should but we had to have it for college entry, some jobs etc. There is very mixed opinion on this. I love it but my French is better than my Irish.

@missybear your mojo is inspiring. It’s great to see you doing so well. Well done on a super FD. And yes let’s be weekend warriors 🏹🏹

@merryapple 72 is just around the corner… You are flying with all of your walks and focus. You are like me though I think, with a big gap between effort and reward. Long game… don’t give up.

@snowflake56 I hope you had a good day after the morning rush and @stitchincarol looking forward to hearing more about VBS.
    @northgeorgia 💪

    Go n-éirí an bóthar libh!
May the road rise to meet you!
    An Irish farewell

    Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕

    Day 8 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

@merryapple – I just listened to a couple of Charley Crockett tracks, ‘Welcome to Hard Times’ & ‘Jamestown Ferry’. He’s good! I got into Country & Western when I was working on the ships. We had some really good bands doing covers of George Strait, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney & Jimmy Buffett. Sometimes they played in the casino on our theme nights. Some great songs that I still listen to sometimes. You’re so close to that 72! 🎯

Aiming to be a sober weekend warrior too, day 616! 🚫🍷

Have a good weekend everyone 🌤🌈

    Day 8 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 229 lbs. Well, I’m happy to say that I seemed to have reverse the naughty end of May weight gain. I can’t get too excited because although I have a busy week next week and can do a 5:2, I have a full week of vacation after that.

Anyway, I am proud of the average 4 lb weight loss over last week so I think reset is accomplished on that end of things 🙂

Planning on tomorrow being one of my FDs for next week.

    Day 9 NZ NFD 72.9kg! 🚴‍♀️

Just snuck in to the 72s… Yes @jaifaim, I fear it is true – we are slow losers but to feel fit is a blessing!! I’m aiming to lose a further 5-8kg because I’m hoping it will all come off my hips and midriff!! I went out for an hour bike ride early this morning. As much as I love the Gaelic farewell, I didn’t particularly want the road to rise up and meet me as it might mean I’d taken a tumble…🤣😫
We have a big tropical storm heading our way and it’s becoming very hazy with low cloud cover and feeling ominous…
@northgeorgia Big congratulations on your reset!!
@funshipfreddie I’m glad you enjoyed Charley Crockett. There is an interesting short doco on him which gives an insight into how he has managed to stay fiercely independent in a world where musicians are tightly massaged by their record companies.
@snowflake That’s a great distance to walk!! I hope your husband is OK if he’s in hospital… Sending healing thoughts!!
I see the SAR people are now looking for Dr M in a caving system with sea tides… 🙏 He needs a miracle…

    Steely RESOLVE!!

    Day 9, Germany, NFD

The weather is beautiful this morning, we plan to go for a walk this morning and this afternoon we’re off to the natural history museum.

@jaifaim Yes, everything is fine here.

@merryapple Welcome to the 72s, 72,9 kg was my highest weight in 2017, as I’m short, I looked quite chubby. I’m glad to have a normal weight again. My husband is doing well, he stayed one night in hospital instead of four due to something else they found. He just made and ate ham and eggs on freshly baked bread from the bakery next door and the smell makes me salivating so I’ll make a smaller version of it.

Still hoping for a good outcome on Dr M’s disappearance.

    Have a nice day everyone!

    Day 9 – Ireland – NFD – 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾.

    Hello all!
Up early to cycle so a quick post.
No plank yesterday but a good walk with family and lifting mum so I’ll count that as strength work.
Ate cake again.. not feeling like a warrior but hope we have some out there fighting the good fight. I’ll aim for better choices today. A plank when I’m back from this spin.
A quiet day on the posts yesterday – @snowflake56 I had missed yours yesterday morning but hope your DH is ok? Given that he wasn’t kept in maybe that was good news?
@funshipfreddie and @northgeorgia good to have your company yesterday postswise and enjoy your Sunday FD today @northgeorgia 💪

@merryapple ah yes I see your point… the phrase is supposed to meant that the journey gets easier as you go as the road rises to meet your steps as you walk – therefore much less effort 😂

    Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕

    Day 9 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

So cold here?! At 8 am it was 9 C 🥶️ The sun is shining though, & it’s supposed to reach 19 later, so I’ll get my steps in then.

    @merryapple – you did it! 🥇🎯

@jaifaim – I think our posts crossed yesterday. Have you heard of Benny Lewis? An Irish guy who runs a website called ‘Fluent in 3 Months’. He’s authored a book with the same title, & written a few others. He claims he can speak 20 languages ‘to varying levels of fluency’ but there’s a lot of scepticism around his claims & methods.

Rumours & conspiracy theories starting to swirl around Dr Mosley’s disappearance. I wondered how long it would take. His poor wife & kids..

Second post… Sunday evening Day 9

What Dr Mosley achieved in his lifetime has been life changing for so many of us and for that we truly thank him.
May he now rest in peace.
We are sending our thoughts and prayers to his wife and family.
And thank you to all those who tried so hard to find him on the wee Greek Island.

    2nd Post – Day 9

Very sad news. RIP Dr Michael Mosley 😔

    Day 9 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

How precious and fragile life is. Thoughts are with the Moseley family at this sad time.
    RIP Dr M 💕

    Day 9 – USA/GA – FD

Weigh-in: 230 lbs. I’m so sorry to hear of Dr. Mosley’s death. He has touched so many lives, including mine.

I am planning for a FD today, but I heard my family threaten homemade ice cream later today. My usual excuse, “I can have some tomorrow,” won’t fly because I travel 3 – 4 hours away after lunchtime at work on Monday to overnight for our statewide meeting that takes place on Tuesday, and there’s not much room in the freezer — but maybe I can skip it until Tuesday night. Thursday is my graduation dinner with about 30 others who participated in the county leadership program this past year. So, Wednesday is my only other FD for the week. Then there’s vacation the week after with no FDs. What a odd month!

I’m 4 lbs lighter over last Sunday. I want to log what I did so I can look back and remember, because by the last week of the month I’ll need to do something like it again 🙂 I did a WFD on Sunday, then FD500 OMADs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

I have done better with controlling the snack demon and keeping the junk food at bay this week.

Oh my, what dreadful news! We would not all know each other if it wasn’t for Dr. Michael Mosley and his work.
For that, I am so grateful.
Sending thoughts and condolences to his family and friends💕.
Also sending thoughts and thanks to all those who helped to find him.
    🙏🙏

I’m new here and sort of floundering around but feel that this regime will suit me well. I’m Mary, a retired American marketing professor living in the Loire Valley of France. Recently, my doctor said that the bad news is that I have fatty liver disease but the good news is that it’s reversible. Sure, if I give up French wine and cheese! I really need to lose about 20 lbs and have probably lost 200 over the past 10 years, but always the same 5 lbs (off/on/off/on…). Anyone have success with this regime?

Yes, quite shocking and must be devastating for those with him.

I am heartbroken with this awful news. I have all of Michael’s books, and was always impressed with his wisdom and kindness ( as seen in his TV specials) . I had to come on this site to be with those who would understand, I never knew him but I am tearful. Condolences to his wife and loved ones. What a loss.

Saying hello and best greetings to you all —- I’m an old timer who is happy to be keeping at maintenance

SO sorry to learn of the death of Dr. Michale Mosely — it was his first book I read back in 2016 or so and have been able to keep at maintenance because of 5:2 or ONAD.

    Hugs to you all —

We can contribute to Dr M’s legacy by keeping going on with 5:2 and be thankful for access to this website which as you said @jaifaim, brings us together.
Thank you @opal-shine. We’re happy that you found us and are very welcome to express your sorrow here.

Welcome! @liffster You live in a beautiful part of France!!
As Dr M found out when he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, you can be thin on the outside and fat on the inside… Hence his emphasis on both fasting and a Mediterranean style of eating, which will help you.
We take turns to lead our monthly challenges and this month @jaifaim is at the helm. We also have a sheet to fill in if you wish to. If you go back to the beginning of this month’s posts you can read the introduction and access the sheet. Posting regularly is our way of holding hands around the world for that magical group support…

@snowflake Reading about ham and eggs on a FD is making me salivate too!!! I hope you enjoyed your version!
@jaifaim You sound like you’re following Marie Antoinette’s advice “Let them eat cake”!!
Thanks for the road explanation. Somehow the analogy is making me think of the Wizard of OZ😀which was on TV recently here for all those in their second childhood…
@funshipfreddie You sound cold… We’ve had the the tropical storm (humid warm wet) and are now expecting a polar blast from the Antarctic🥶that’s heading up the country.
@stitchincarol Where an earth have you got to?!!

Steely RESOLVE everyone and swerve those beige carbs that @flourbaby loves so much!!!

    Day 9 – USA/TN

Sad to hear about Dr. M. In his honor, hoping to continue 5:2 with good results!

    Day 10 – Ireland – FD – 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾.

I still can’t quite believe it to be honest but taking the day today to reflect on where we have all come because of wonderful Michael Mosley. He helped so many people throughout his life. What a legacy.💕

Hello and welcome @opal-shine and @liffster! It is great to have you with us. As @merryapple said, can you please read the first posts on Day 1 for an introduction to posting – just guidelines really but it helps us all keep track.
Hi everyone else… it was lovely to see our community posts yesterday and I know this news will have touched anyone who has been with us along our 5:2 path over the many years since @coda set it up and those on other threads on this forum – so thinking of everyone today. 💕💕

Today all, my focus will be on Just One Thing as the man himself would say…
A good FD – that’s it. I’ll build in the exercise as and how I can… will probably plank… but… FD is the focus.
    Just do your best.

Ag smaoineamh oraibh go léir 💕
    Thinking of you all.

    Day 10 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 69.7 kg

Monday morning PFDS 😇 @merryapple – I AM cold! Another 8 or 9 degree morning. I bought a couple of hot-water bottles yesterday 😅 It turned out to be a nice day though. If the sun’s shining & the wind stays away it’s perfect walking weather by mid-day.

@jaifaim – It is unbelievable. A tragic end for someone who helped so many people. I’ll always be grateful to Michael for making the documentary, ‘Eat, Fast & Live Longer’.

@liffster – welcome to 5:2 and to the forum. Thousands of success stories here! If you’ve read the book or clicked on ‘How It Works’ on the homepage, then all you have to do is jump in & try it. I’ve been fasting for about 10 years & I joined these challenges 6 years ago. Here’s a link to the documentary if you haven’t seen it:- https://vimeo.com/259080453

    Day 10 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FD

It’s a beautiful bright morning here, just sitting sipping coffee with my cat snoozing on my lap. It must have been rough weather overnight though because a rose bush has blown right over so I will have to prune it today.

Monday FD, I will practice what I’ve learned from Dr M. Like others I am thankful for this forum to share with like minded friends. Have a wonderful day everyone.

    Day 10, Germany, NFD

It’s so sad to read about the death of Dr Mosley. He changed the lives of so many people for the better including the lives of most of us here. I will always be grateful. My thoughts are with his wife and family.

@jaifaim The news after my DH’s surgery was partly good/partly bad. We’ll know more after the pathology results are in and new plans can be made. It was nice he came out so soon, we enjoyed discovering a new town together.

@merryapple I enjoyed the ham and eggs so much, I ate the same for dinner.

    Day 10 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 232 lbs. No, I couldn’t resist the homemade ice cream, and I crumbled from a decent break in fast (healthy proteins) into junk food. Thankfully, it was just a 4-hour eating window, so damage was minimal. Going to OMAD again today, and eat at a sit-down restaurant at my destination this evening.

    See you again on Wednesday!

    Day 10, London, UK, NFD

I’m so sad about Dr. M’s passing. Such an inspiring man, personable, funny and a tad goofy!! Such a tragic end for someone who practiced what he preached and made us all just a bit more willing to take the ‘doctors’ advice. I’m eternally grateful for 5:2 and will go forwards with renewed dedication to honour a brilliant man. My thoughts are with his wife & children.

I’m super busy today, not working but I’m at home waiting for several deliveries to get this garden done once and for all!! It would have been impossible & distressing to do it whilst my mum was with us, but now it’s become such a jungle the workload is immense!!! Slowly slowly!!

“In the end, the best diet is the one you can stick to and which fits best in your life” – Dr. Michael Mosley

    Day 10 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD – 163.0

The grief I share with all of you about Dr. M is real and deep. I cannot fathom the grief Claire and his family feel.

Where to start after near-complete-radio-silence for a week? It’s been crazy. No, that’s not true, it’s simply been non-stop. I truly was gone from 7:30 each morning until 7 or 8 or later each evening last week. I started up teaching piano again, had an online meeting that took some preparation, there was work every day for the final polish of that huge project, and a fellow pastor and his wife in our area are moving to a church on the east coast so there was a going away party… nothing stressful, just lots all week.

The real stress is that the set-up of the music I did each day involved a projector and power point slides of the lyrics, and I was down and up endlessly from the low stool in front of the laptop controlling it all. You know what that’s called, right? SQUATS. My thighs still burn from that, LOL, and I’m longing for the pain to go away so I can do things like go up and down stairs and sit on the toilet with no pain!

As to weight and eating: I almost always swerved the temptation each morning of the snacks being provided for the kids. I almost succeeded in a WF last Tuesday, but at the last minute turned it into a FD350 or something (the memory is sketchy at this point). I did NOT succeed at eating only when at a hunger level 3; that requires thought and focused attention, and my thoughts and focused attention were too much in demand elsewhere in my life; I’m delighted, however, that I didn’t shoot up to 166 or something, which I’ve done in the past.

Today, I’m waiting for some documents in order to finish that huge project I’ve been working on over the last month so I can email it off to be printed; I’d wanted to do that fifteen minutes ago, but am held hostage waiting on the documents. It feels glorious to be so close to done with that.

Also today, I’m finally going outside to work in my yard. Never has it taken me until my daughter’s June 10th birthday (31 years today) to START work in my yard–I’m usually all done by now, instead of just starting.

And next Sunday, immediately after church, DH and I head to Indiana to take care of our three granddaughters while said DD does an online class required for her teaching degree. It’s funny how it was so lovely to hear, “Mom, can you help??” 😂😂😂🥰 We’ll drive home again on Friday so we have time to get ready for church services, so it’ll be a rush, but SO lovely to see them all and play with the girls!

There. That’s my catch up, for whatever value it is.

I’ll read and respond to all the posts as I’m able later today or tomorrow morning. It’s good to be back!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 11 NZ NFD 72.6kg 🏃🏼‍♀️

Haha @funshipfreddie!! I don’t really do PFDS because I’m only ever a step away from an EFS!!! Sad but true!!!
@stitchincarol Wow!! You need some downtime!! I hope that involves knitting!!! I have sorted out how to knit top down sweaters but I’m doing the most complicated thing I could do… using short rows to shape a raglan neck then I’ve drafted up a fern pattern to turn into 18 wedges around the shoulders. When people ask what I’m up to, I say conceptual knitting because the image in my mind is transferred via equilateral equations into stitches…😵‍💫 (apologies to non knitters…)
@flourbaby At least you have ‘staff’ to help sort out your jungle!! I need help!! We have had so much rain half the garden thinks it’s Spring and is growing despite just entering winter…
@northgeorgia Keep at it. You’ll sort out a game plan for yourself 💪
@snowflake I luv the fact that your breakfast and dinner were the same!! Best of luck with the pathology results.
@missybear That is so descriptive – a rose bush blown over by the wind!! At least it is used to being pruned!!
@jaifaim You need to add in the phonetic spelling for the Gaelic so we can say it out loud!!
Thank you for the Dr M quote. As always, such practical advice…
@ccco Good to see you’re back from NYC and posting.

    Steely RESOLVE!!

    Day 11, Germany, FD

No motivation at all after today after having too much sugar and salt yesterday. I’m glad my Tuesday’s hard sports hour starts at 10 am, I always feel so good afterwards.

@merryapple In an ideal world I would eat ham and eggs every morning! I plan to have it more often in the future, I’m restricting myself too much at the moment.
