  • Hey Everyone, just registered, I heard of the diet from Jimmy Kimmel Live. The 5-2 sounded perfect for my lifestyle, because it allows me to still have the foods I love, while still losing weight. Its also great because its so flexible – I can shift a fast day for social events as needed – and there are no hardcore rules that require me to never eat/drink something I love.

    Anyway, I’m on my 6th fast day, going strong. Just started DietBet on dietbet.com because I’m so confident in my weight loss.

    Started at about 220lbs (99.8 kg), hoping to get back down to about 180lbs (81.6 kg) by the end of 2016.

    Your goal is very doable.

    The basic of 5:2 is very simple. Eat. Sleep. Fast. Eat one 1/4 (25%) of your TDEE. Sleep. Wake up and eat within your TDEE.

    Fast two days (each fast is actually 36 hours) and eat within or under your TDEE for 5 days. Simple.

    I find it difficult to eat 1/4 of my TDEE seems to make me feel hungry constantly, so I don’t eat at all just drink lots of water. But that is me.

    If you adhere to 5:2 as written you will loose weight. I recommend that when you first start 5:2 to follow it exactly for two months. This will help you set it into your pattern of behaviour. After that two months you can start to tweak it to fit you better. Make small changes and make them slowly. Go back to 5:2 if you see the changes are detrimental.
