  • Hi everyone,

I’m new to this. Have a tendency to binge eat and have put on the pounds. Motivation is usually a challenge for me and work and family are full-on. I’m feeling blue as I have a holiday in two weeks and feel so frumpy and big..I’m 47, 5ft 3 and a size 14. Hoping to connect and reach out to others. Thanks 🙂

    Hi Maj1

I’m new too. 41, 5ft 3 & size 16! I’m on day 2, finding it v hard keeping off the tea & toast 😬. I guess the first few days of change are always the hardest, but am quite keen to be too skinny for my size 16’s, so will try to keep going 😊.

    Good luck!

    Hi SouthLondonGirl,

    Thanks for replying.

Sounds like you’re diving in…have you done anything like his before? I work from home a bit so that’s my challenge..all alone with treats in the house (bought for the kids) but devoured by me! I have no willpower…

    Hope you’re doing ok.

    Hi Maj1

I’m new too. I’m 37, 5ft 8 and a size 14. I also have a holiday coming up in 3 1/2 weeks so hoping to lose a few pounds before I go and then maybe carry it on when I get back.

Feeling a little wobbly today (light-headed). Hope that goes away soon.

    Hi LLM!

Good for you. I’m finding it hard. Think I might have Binge eating disorder…not sure it’s going to help with this?

    Enjoy your day:)

    Hi Maj,

If you have a tendency to binge don’t buy treats and then store them in the house!! In all the posts I have read I have yet to see one post that said I just binged on vegetables. So stock up on veggies and get rid of the sugary treats. It will take about a month to detox from sugar. You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink. Its really up to you.

Maj1, what kind of treats do you keep on hand for the kids? Your kids probably don’t need them either.

    Hi BB and K-LO,

You’re both spot on..actually my 15 year old has started asking for healthier treats and healthier versions of food, swapping white for brown etc..bran rather than sugary cereals..It’s true that old saying about bringing the horse to water…I suppose I’m just wondering how I can manage an all-inclusive two week holiday from next week…it’s bad enough at home…I’m not a big drinker – just the food…any tips on managing/coping or surviving with this situation?

Maj1, two week all inclusive? That’s a hard one. Where are you going?

    Hi Maj:

I travel a lot and am good at 5:2. I find skipping all meals possible works for me. If you really don’t need to eat breakfast (aside from getting your ‘money’s worth) then save the calories for an upcoming lunch or dinner. Don’t eat just because ‘it is time to eat – rest for fun later in the day or do fun activities instead. The focus of these trips can be eating if you let them, and have fun doing that when you want to. But if you can change the focus once a day to doing something other than eating you can moderate whatever ‘damage’ you might do by eating three or more times a day and still have fun. Which is the reason for going in the first place!

    Have fun!

Don’t eat just to get your money’s worth. Stay away from sugary treats. Don’t have deserts. If its a buffet style eatery get your plate, be modest with what you put on the plate and DONT go back for seconds thirds etc. Mentally gear yourself up that you only have one trip to the buffet table and don’t pile one of everything onto the plate.

Physical activity releases dopamine, you don’t have to rely on sugar to get that buzz. The activity doesn’t have to be overly physical, a sense of satisfaction that you did a sporting/leisure activity will also release dopamine.
