  • Hi all,

I’m an early forties husband and dad of four in the South West of England. My weight has yo-yo’d up and down since my early twenties, but for the last five or six years has been more up than down. A long way up.

I tried the 5:2 diet a couple of times in the past but failed miserably. I was determined that 2015 was going to be different! I started again in March and have now lost about 4 stone, and have a healthy BMI.

My current plan is to try and stick with 5:2 until after Christmas (mainly to maintain some discipline over the holidays) and then transition to a maintenance plan. Fingers crossed I will be able to maintain my trim new figure!

Hi Devonian, Welcome here! Congratulations on your 5:2 success!
What made the difference in managing to keep on it this time?
    Have fun with maintenance!

    Hi Cinque,

Thanks for the welcome. What made the difference this time? I would like to have some great story or learning tool, but I think it was just basic vanity. We have four young kids and I was tired of being fat dad. I think the push was that we booked our first foreign holiday since the kids arrived. I wanted to be able to go in the pool or on the beach, or even just run around after our one year old in 30-odd degree heat, without feeling fat and sweaty and out of breath. And when the time came it felt good not to dread the camera coming out.

    :o)
